One of the best GA State Parks. My second time staying with the family in the cabins and as always a wonderful experience. Im sharing pics from the ADA cabins so you can have a better idea of how they look and how accessible they are. Fully renovated, super clean, ADA up to code, screened porch with picnic table and rocking chairs and amazing views to the lake. Just bring the food, drinks and you are all set. Kayak rentals(only weekends) for $10/hour and the rental staff are amazing. I definitely recommend this outdoor activity in the lake. Top notch park!

Such a cool place not too far from “town”. We got a yurt for a night for a great rate. There are only 6 yurts, but spaced out in their own little area. Each has a deck with chairs on the water. Each also has a fire pit and grill. Yurt Parking is easy, carts available in the area to help unload stuff from your vehicle. Bathrooms not too far.The heater worked great in the yurt. The front door lock is a code key pad system which is convenient and easy. It was only my son and I, and the yurt was plenty big enough. Everyone seemed to respect quiet hours and we slept soundly through the night.Besides the yurt, the park offers mini golf, frisbee golf, fishing, playgrounds, grilling areas. We really enjoyed riding our bikes on the trails, a cool change of scenery from riding it around a neighborhood! It was not crowded at all when we went, despite it being public school holiday. Very peaceful and serene! Want to go back for sure.

Other than the long ride into our campsite around the far reaches of the lake, everything else met our expectations. Our motorhome campsite was level, the price was expected, about $35. You can see the lake from our site and it was a pleasant walk down to it. The shower house was nice even though I had trouble figuring out the control and you had to let the water run a while.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Yurt #3. Everything was clean, safe and the fun. The wild life is safe and all around. We even saw water birds and had ducks visit but not pester. The yurts are directly on the water and it feels like a waterfront resort. The bathroom and shower facilities are close and kept very tidy. I will be going back as soon as I can. If you are looking for a good family time this is the place to go!

The atmosphere and the area are amazing. Camped here and the views are breathtaking. We rented a tent space and it was clean and friendly, also had a built in pit. Fished, hiked and went the beach.

Really enjoyed the yellow trail which loops around the lake. A tad disappointed that cyclists dont heed the way or yield to hikers as posted on the trails. Otherwise, this was a fun adventure for the day.

Plenty of trails and things to do. 5 dollars to get in for a wonderful experience out in nature. Worth that and much more.

We just came back from Fort Yargo, what a beautiful state park! We stayed in one of the cabins and it was absolutely lovely, very modern and we loved the big screened in porch overlooking the lake. The beach was pretty crowded but a nice sandy beach nonetheless! Bummer that because of Covid you can’t rent boats or Golf clubs for the mini golf although I think you can bring your own for mini golf and bring your own boats. The bike trails looked amazing and when it gets cooler I would love to come back to hike! I would highly recommend this park to any one!

This is another one of Georgias gems! This is a large park, with many things to do. Hiking is wonderful, boating on the lake, plenty of good restaurants in the area, etc. Camping is very good! The roads are a bit worn and narrow, but the sites are worth the drive. We had plenty of room for our 5th wheel and a couple of vehicles. In addition to the great locale and great activities, the staff was very helpful and friendly.

We stayed in Campground 1 for a week. The hosts were great. The sites are nicely spaced to provide privacy. The boat rentals were closed at the time, which was a bummer, however we still enjoyed ourselves.

Fort Yargo was great! Beautiful scenery, lots of activities, and the cottage rental was awesome. We will be back - guaranteed!

A pretty nice park, many different options for camping trips from bring your own tent to renting a lakeside bungalow. Scenic bike and hiking trails, a recently renovated welcome center, and a quiet lake with little traffic. Decent sized boat ramp in great condition for launching boats and kayaks.

Great mountain bike trail. Over 12 miles long. Beautiful lake and scenery.

There is lots to do at Fort Yargo. The campgrounds are nice and clean and most sites are pretty far apart for privacy. The trails are top notch and I hear the disc golf course is fun. This park is a gem being so close to Atlanta.

Love this place Im having my kids party here lots of shade plenty of space BBQ grills tables outside shower head to rinse off. The water is brown so its not anything like Florida but it works well for the kids. It also has a playground and kayaking. You are allowed to bring your own food small speaker radio things like that

What a great State Park! Just under an hour from the city, it is very easy to get here. the campsites are in great condition, the mini golf and disc golf courses are great, the lake is huge, and the staff at the visitor center are warm and welcoming.At twenty five bucks, the campsites are a great deal, and made our choice to go camping here a very good one

We had campsite 21, we had a good time. Fort yargo has really done itself up nice. It was a fun time. The only issue is our campsite is at the bottom of a hill, and it poured one of the days, entirely flooring our campsite with inches of water. There were no drainage holes or slots in the wooden beams, but my brother and I happened to have a hose that we set up to siphon the water out of our campsite. If we wouldnt have done that, I would put money on there still being a pool of water when we left. Good thing we didnt bring a tent! It would have been flooded!!Other than that issue of having no drainage, it was a great place and a great time!

We love to Ft Yargo State Park especially for kayaking. There is a nice size lake that we can kayak from one end to the other in about 2 hours at a leisurely pace. Motor hosts are limited to 15 HP so this causes no issue for paddling. Lots of fish, tireless, and Herons. Great mountain biking too.

Nice place. Stayed in a Cabin. Sat Tv was down the whole time but you do get a cell signal. You are there for the outdoors and not tech. Cell signal is good to have in case of emergency

Fantastic state park not far off 316. The bike trail was great. Im a wimp, so I had to take the yellow trail. The little beach and other amenities seemed nice as well. Thinking about going back and staying in one of those yurts sometime.

Absolutely beautiful! We had so much fun and the scenery was amazing! The lady at the gate was very helpful and kind as well.

My family loves the beach in the summer and the trails year-round. Fort yargo is a nice clean park with all the amenities you would expect from a state park and more!

We enjoyed hiking on the orange and yellow trails from the Old Fort past the beach with our 7 and 10 year old children. There are so many great trails, you could hike all day here. We wanted to swim at the beach too but it was too crowded to safely social distance during this coronavirus time. We were there at 10 am on a Sunday, so next time we will try to get there earlier to do that when there are fewer people. The bathroom at the beach was disgusting and needs a good cleaning. Use the restroom at the visitors center instead. That is the only reason Im taking away one star.

This is a great place to swim, kayak, canoe. They also have some paddle boats there for rent.We had a birthday party out there under one of The pavilions we rented. Whats a beautiful day and not to hot.the only thing negative I had to say is I wish they would have serviced the bathrooms a little more frequently.

We were on our way to visit my sister in brazelton for the evening and called the park at 4 to see if we needed a reservation and the woman I spoke to said no just pull in to the camp host let them know we are there and get a spot and pay in the morning. Which was not the case we pulled in at 6 and the host told us there were no spots available. The host called the manager to see if we could park in the overflow for the evening. And her answer was NO.we did let them know we did not need power or water.but her answer was still no.Im very upset at this park as we stayed here last year .but will definitely not be back and will let everyone know our experience!!!The smiths

Across a bridge, we started from lake inner loop trail around beautiful Fort Yargo lake, total would make 7 miles, but somehow I got lost at a branch, and got on to much strenuous outer loop trail. To make things worse, we encountered a big thunderstorm, there was no place to hide, I was totally soaked and hiked about 2 miles in the mud before it stopped. After the thunderstorm, double rainbows showed up on the sky, this was rewarding moment just as old cliche: no rain no rainbows. Its probably worth to come back to complete rest of the inner loop.Update: I did come back to complete full inner loop trail. The trail was beautiful, there are many wild flowering hibiscus on road side. The trip highlight was when we reached the historic cabin, it was full house with people, an old lady talked to me and told me some history stories about white settlers, Cherokee and Creek, which was more vivid than a history book, and I could make an association with the history at Indian Springs State Park, Creeks chief William McIntosh was executed by his own Creek tribe. It took me almost 3 hours to complete the 7 mile trail.

Beach is at lake is great. My little one enjoyed a lot at the beach without the waves.

Blankets in closet stink. Bed linens otherwise ok. Killed 4 large roaches, one on headboard.Cabin floors dirty and found food in couch cushions.Scenery lovely though and quiet. Just need to improve housekeeping.

If you say that your skate park is good think again. only go in the morning, Im mean like 8 cause when its 11 number one, the sun is right there so it will be hot, and numbe two, there are sometimes older kids that if you dont want to hear curse words, thats why. the skate park is so good l, even though you have to where a helmet when your there, theres really no one to patrol the area. epic ramps that are steep, hills and just a big park. and if you have a older kid and a younger kid, three minutes away is a great park with a swings, clean bathrooms, and an epic playground l, overall a great park.

Nice place to go camping, or just spend a day or two at their cottages and cabins, the beach was beautiful too. You can do kayak, fishing, mountain biking trail here too. Day and Annual parking pass available

Fun place to spend a half day, even if youre not hiking. We played mini golf and did some geocaching! They are strict with parking locations, but its not typically crowded.

We all loved Yargo State Park. There are areas prepared for a barbecue. Tables to serve your meal. A Mini Golf port ( mind you. Do not forget to bring balls & golf clubs) excellent parking and scenery. $5.00 all day parking . Great nature. The beach lake beautiful. Gave it a 4 star not a 5. Why? Because saw a sanitary napkin floating.

We rented an adventure cabin forThe weekend. Military discount. Super clean and dog friendly! It happened they had hay rides and story telling for Halloween. It was priced well and a great experience! We want to return to stay longer for bike riding and boating!

My fiance and I got there during the morning around 11. Down at the beach was very relaxing around that time because its so quiet. And even an earlier time would be perfect if youre going to escape the sounds of humans.

Lovely beach on a lake. Plenty of shade if you need a break from the sun, an abundance of picnic tables and the bathrooms were clean. I would definitely recommend this place.

This park is a wonderful place to gather or go solo. The views are beautiful and the is always something to do. Swimming, paddle boats, kayaking, walking trails camping or just enjoying the views.

My family went here during the weekend and it was awesome! It’s 5 dollars to park and thats it, boats and kayaks cost extra.There are a ton of shade, and there is also a beach area at the lake where you can put a chair and relax in the sun.You can also get in the shade and hang up a hammock and chill, there are a ton of sittings areas and grills, and at the camp site there are fire pits.

I live close here and i hike the 7 mile trail every weekend. Its always quiet and nice out there. They maintain the trails as well.

We had my grandsons birthday party here for the second year in a row. If you like nature trails and lake swimming this is a great place. Fishing and boating, unless you like canoes, not so much.

Titan tournament refs are hit and miss. We got a new ball every time the ball hit the ground while pitching. Good competition.

Just pulled into the entrance parking lot to stop for lunch. Last visited 5 years ago and was impressed with how attractive the new Ranger station/Shop was. Surrounding area was beautiful. Parking lot was roomy and accommodated our 35 class A & tag a long. Want to go back and see more!

Great state park with a family friendly atmosphere. The beach is clean and generally unpopulated. The creek is fun. My two small children loved walking on the trails. This is a great little park for families.

We camp here. Nice campgrounds and bath houses. Would give 5 stars if the roads with-in the park were better, the roads are horrible! The park needs to spend some money and pave all the roads to the campgrounds and in the campgrounds.

I love this park. Now is even better. But I like the wild area. The lake is nice, you can take your own kayak or I think you can rent it out a canoe. Just be aware thats a very popular park and on the holidays or long weekend its parked.

Really enjoy the Putt Putt golf here. Great pandemic activity since we never see anyone else doing it. The trails are nice to walk also.

Ft. Yargo has bit of everything. Great flowy mtn trails, camping, cabins, rv sites. Very beautiful area.

The park is really nice! Its massive. there are lots of different areas to go in, the beach area at entrance one was really crowded, but we went down to the second picnic area and it was easily accessible, had a playground, and people were really nicely spread out there. The bike trails looks super fun and we plan to go back to do that at some point. There were staff and bathrooms all over the place. once we got our parking pass, we were able to ride around the entire property and see all of the different areas.

You can swim freely. You take pretty much any to that park. For free. You just pay the entrance.

Beautiful. Peaceful. Quiet and clean. I take my toddler here for walk and to play at their playground.

One of the cleanest and prettiest state parks weve been too. Historical and beautiful. The campground has several sites right on the lake. Excellent kayaking. Picnic, hike the trails, or hang out at the beach, this is one of our favorite parks. We visit often.

Just a parking fee for rest and relaxation. ANYTIME! Lake was awesome. Given the Covid situation there was no rentals from what I saw. I didn’t look into it too much just an observation. Men’s room had a door missing on a stall, but park was clean and lake wasn’t packed for a Thursday 12-4. Definitely going back soon.

I thought it was pretty nice. The camp was great. The only problems are that we cant swim on the campsite we rent, we cant shoot off fireworks or use soarklers on the fourth of July, and the free golf isnt free. Other than that it was great. Ducks came and visited my camp site and we had fun

Great park, and excellent beach. My family have been enjoying the beach weekly during this summer so far. Today however, we did not have the $5 cash to enter the park. Their card reader was not working. Attendant even rebooted the system and was denied access into the park. Make sure you have cash if you want to get in!

Ive been going to this park since the 1960s since I was a child and they had a outdoor skating rink and a man-made Beach... They have updated it and I give it a four star to leave room for improvements

Great park. Will revisit. BUT!!! On Sun, Aug 2, there was a wedding on the dock outside the main office where entrance passes were being sold that day. What should have been a 5 minute transaction (at most) took 40 minutes. The parking lot was full. The wedding music was so loud that it was necessary for park employees and incoming park guests to shout to each other. The wedding party was also maskless and virus friendly.

This location was the spot for my niece baby shower. I like the facility where the event took place.

Beautifully maintained campground! Incredible waterfront sites (we had site# 9) with easy access to put kayaks in the water. Just wish we had more than 2 nights to spend here. We will definitely be back.

Publix is a great way to shop anything that would come to your mind. Fresh fruits, ham, breads, dessert, drinks,, Alcohol, ice cream, they even let you taste some recipes and you can make them at homeTheir pharmaceutical personal are very helpful.

This place is great it has: hiking, biking, beaches, kayaking, putt-putt, frisbee golf, camping any way you like it. They have cottages, yurt s, RV camping, tent camping.

Love the park. Nice wide hiking trails. Today was the first time I did the full 7 mile loop. I am 62 so it was a work out for me, but I look forward to doing it more often. Also today was the first day the Visitor Center is open after the China covid virus.

Absolutely awesome! Scenery is beautiful and it is peaceful and such a great value for individuals or families. Definitely going back and would recommend to anyone.

Love this place. Ive been going here since i was a kid. I just brought my kids here recently and they enjoyed the trail walks and the beach area.

This is a nice lil spot to come to with the kids & some food for the grill. Make sure to bring some water activities/floaters.

Love campsite 41 Great memories were made and the camp host were amazing! The campsite was perfect for my little family and I love how well the place was maintained even the bathrooms looked good.

The only reason I didnt give it a 5 is the trails although beautiful, are covered in poison ivy, oak and sumac. I have learned that State Park does not spray to kill the plants (keeping natural habitat natural??)I, as are two of my three grandchildren highly allergic. This means regular trips to ER during summer hiking season.I can only suggest wearing long pants. I also keep alcohol and Dawn dish soap in my car. I immediately our legs hands and arms.

This is my favorite park to go to that is near my home. There are several different trails. A hiking/biking trail that is 7 miles long and mountain bike trails that are over 10 miles long. Also, there is swimming, miniature golf, camping, cabins, yurts, and boat rentals. I buy a Friends of the Georgia State parks pass and go many times a year. The park staff have always been super friendly. They even leave me notes and candy canes on my windshield during the holidays. They do many different programs throughout the year including bonfires, moonlight walks, etc. This park is my convenient respite time near home.

My husband and I stayed in Yurt #1 at the park. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS with perfect weather and not too many people. I truly wanted to love our first yurting experience, however, there were two things that really soured the whole trip:1. Our yurt had a bunk bed and one futon. All of which was infested with bed bugs. I was bitten several times despite bringing our own bedding (as advised). Really made staying there feel gross despite the beautiful setting and lake front view.2. The futons and mattress were INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. I think it wouldve been more comfortable laying on sheets cardboard instead.Despite these things, we managed to enjoy our stay. I would recommend the park try to clean the yurts more often and bug bomb the yurts at least once month

I loved this this park!!! Great alternative to Lake Lanier, although smaller, the lake at Fort yargo has nature hikes surronding the lake, public grilling locations, and trail riding is available.

Loved it. It was a great break in scenery after being quarantined for so long. We were on the beach and my boys had a lot of fun. We didnt get to go fishing but next time.

Nice walking trails. Dogs can go nearly everywhere. Nature is lovely.

Great family place! Love the Sandy Beach area. Only wish we couldve rented a paddle boat, but that part was closed.

UPDATE 5/17/19: A new Visitors Center. See pics below!!I go to Fort Yargo often, weather permitting. The staff in the welcome office and grounds are just so nice and helpful. The park is always kept in pristine shape from the landscaping to the bathrooms. It is beautiful.

Top flight fun for everyone! Relax, forget for a few hours all the problems of the day. Enjoy the peace, for your spirit and your mind!

I like coming here but the atmosphere was too much low
