I have not been inside of the museum but I have been through the gardens & to see the big bugs! It was amazing! So fun to find all the bugs and to see all the different areas. Its definitely a must. My boys enjoyed the bugs AND running through the China garden and the bamboo walking path. The huge geese and weeping willows.. It was just so nice.
Beautiful gardens! We love the sculpture exhibition of giant bugs.... hope you can make this trip to Winchester, VA. The museum is super clean and personnel is super nice. I dont go to places due to covid but it feels safe here .... of course I wear my mask and protect my hands trying not to touch anything.
What a lovely experience! The gardens are very well established and tended with lots of sitting areas and shade. Its hard to choose a favorite part, but if I had to choose, my favorite garden was the Asian garden. What are waiting for?!
What a delightful place to spend the day. A beautiful building filled with well done exhibits. I will have to come back again to see it all. The historic home and gardens provide a shady spot to picnic and stroll. Im excited to see the new walking trails that are under construction. The campus will eventually provide the largest green space in Winchester.
Well done. Art work. History. Kid friendly eye-spy throughout. Antique furnished doll houses!! Loved it. And surrounded by a beautiful garden for a peaceful hour hike.
This museum was a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the 7 acres of wonderfully landscaped gardens. There was so much to look at and enjoy. We also thoroughly enjoyed the stained glass exhibit showing through September. The artwork was beautiful. We had a great time and I highly recommend.
Wanted a place to take my 5 year old that was local and couldnt have picked a better place. So happy to know that we dont have to travel far in order to have a fun filled learning experience that offered inside and outside fun. Loved it all and looking forward to their trails that they are currently developing. Please visit this place and support the experience
Love going on free Wednesdays! Before this year we have gone at least twice a year. We love walking the gardens in spring and summer.
Absolutely Worth The Visit! A Must See. Lol
Fantastic museum with several interesting exhibits and a beautiful garden area you can walk through to see flowers and wooden insect sculptures.
What a gem! Love the garden, awesome for the whole family!
A gem of a museum in a nicer part of town, next to a walking trail paralleling the street. The displays are wonderful, as are the adjacent gardens. Truly a highlight of Winchester.
Attended a wedding here. It was spectacular. The gardens were so nice. The big bugs were awesome
The Museum endeavours to preserve and enrich the cultural life and heritage of the Valley. Located on the largest green space in the city of Winchester, the MSV is a regional cultural center including a museum designed by Michael Graves, seven acres of formal gardens, and the Glen Burnie House dating to the 18th century.
The garden is so worth seeing. I also enjoyed the tiffany glass portion. The garden was full of butterflies, flowers, sculptures, manicured trees/grass, houses, water features and easy navigated pathways. Throughout the entire museum and garden there are benches to sit, which was nice for me considering I had foot surgery. Everyone was very sweet and knowledgeable. I dont know if kids would find the museum interesting but I think they would love the garden area with all the open space.
Very interesting place. The amazing Lego fixtures were our favorite. The miniature doll house mansions were fun to look at as well. The zen gardens and ponds were so relaxing.
It was a fantastic experience- great staff, kid friendly and lots to see. The grounds and outdoor exhibits were amazing
Amazing to have a place like this in Winchester! Very excited for the trails as well.
Lovely place to see. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff is very interactive. They share wonderful historical facts and funny stories pertaining to the area.
A beautiful garden and museum! Great for kids.
This was beyond expectations. Numerous meticulously maintained gardens. Exceptional interpretative center. Worth a other visit for a different art exhibit.
Bummed. Visited here in 2010 and remembered it being a beautiful friendly lovely museum. Unfortunately for todays visit it was completely different. With the singular exception of the gentleman in the gift shop, everyone was quite unfriendly. The security guard in the garden announced we had 15 minutes. We understood that, and a much better way to approach paying patrons could have been to great them and then kindly remind them of the time. All of the interactive exhibits are shut down and wrapped up do to covid19 and yet museum fees are the same.I dont normally write poor reviews and Im saddened to have a new disappointing experience with the museum.
Very interesting and fun exhibits. Kind staff and more historical art knowledge opportunities. My personal favorite was the temporary lego exhibit which is being taken down the day after labor day 2018 so make sure you see it while you can, its awesome!
I saw the Tiffany Lamp exhibit at this museum and I was blown away!!!I thought that it would be second rate (since the museum is located such a comparatively remote area), but everything about this exhibit and the rest of the museum is top quality!!!The quality of the hanging and the overall design of the exhibits is OUTSTANDING!!!I will be back over and over again!!!Go Shenandoah Valley !!!
The gardens are so beautiful and the museum is very cool. Great for kids 8 and up. But the gardens are perfect for all ages!
Love it. Beautiful property and cant wait until the trails open up in November.
Went for their limited time LEGO sculpture event. The grounds are beautiful, especially their Asian Water Garden, which was beyond stunning. Well worth the trip. A very refreshing time through exquisitely maintained grounds.
Had a wonderful special Collection of 10 large wood BUGS throughout the beautiful garden.Made by gentleman in New Hampshire.Inside museum was interesting and enjoyable.
Very nice place inside and out. Gardens were beautiful
Good experience. Went for a concert on the lawn. Happy, friendly atmosphere. Loved the music! Wine, beer and good food available to purchase. The gardens are lovely and worth seeing.
My wife and I really enjoyed all the historical artifacts, the dollhouses, and walking the grounds.
I didnt even know they existed until a Lego artist promotion came up to my attention. I was blown away by the gardens even more than the Lego exhibits. They entire area is beautifully designed and well manicured. It is a family destination with plenty of walkways, lawns and water bodies. Do not forget to go back all the way into the Asian gardens to look at the Bamboo Grove - it left me speechless.
Glen Burnie House is a beautiful piece of history, and the museum is truly a special part of the community that teaches about history and provides enrichment through art. Visit! Youll see something new each time!
Very friendly and helpful staff, interesting and entertaining exhibits, and a beautiful garden area. Quite easy to find off the road, ample parking too. This was my second visit (I enjoyed the Tiffany Glass and the Cat exhibit,) and I do plan on coming again.
Wonderful museum of local history and art. On the museum grounds is the beautiful old home and gardens of the Wood-Glass family.Currently the museum parking lot is being enlarged.
We like the gardens at the Glen Bernie mansion. We were a little disappointed in the koi pond it is over grown and in much need of maintenance.
The garden is really the best part of the experience. Still, a lot of interesting exhibits in the museum proper as well.
What a treasure. I wasnt expecting such a beautiful collection of art, architecture, and botany. The grounds are gorgeous and the art is eclectic and diverse. Well worth a gander.
Gotta see had a great day ! Must see the gardens
Beautiful park and surprisingly good museum which worth a visit. Lego exhibition is a nice touch to the beautiful nature of the gardens. There are a couple of nice picnic areas. Very kids friendly, lots of restrooms, and free parking.
The gardens were beautiful and perfect for a summer picnic.
Such a beautiful place to visit and the staff are always welcoming!
Cool place, very friendly staff.
Absolutely amazing lego exhibit. The garden is beautiful and the asian garden was the best.
My family had an absolutely wonderful time walking through the gardens. The history of the property is very interesting. I encourage you to ask the staff that works in the house. We were each blown away with the artwork made from the legos. Each display tells you the number of legos used. All legos are standard size.
I love this place! Beautiful gardens and a Maxfield Parrish exhibit that was spectacular! Free on Wednesday, but leave a donation!
The gardens are beautiful. Its a very elegant house. Well worth the trip.
Beautiful estate that also teaches some history of Virginia.
A very nice small musium, exceptionally well done. Enjoyed it very much.
Garden was cool thats about it, inside is only cool with a group and a guide unless you think critically of black and white photography. Bring a camera for the garden.
The museum itself was great! Small enough to be easily accessible but big enough to contain a wide variety. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back!
A wonderful place to visit and spend the day. We started with their miniature collection of homes and mansions then moved to the awesome Colonial Era Paintings, Revolutionary Muskets, Grandfather Clocks, Furniture, Stills, Pottery, Native American Relics, superb film video and so much more! Then walk the waterways and gardens, both vegetable and those filled with Legoland figures, and onto the wonderfully preserved Glen Burnie Mansion. One of the best living Museums we have visited. Highly recommend.
Went on wed. to get 2-for-1 admission. Spent the afternoon walking through the garden and enjoying the lego sculptures. Quickly visited the main house. Also explored other parts of the garden that didnt have sculptures. Later, we visited the museum (i shooter time taking inn te paintings and furniture exhibits wedgie the rest of the fam went mask to the garden. Altogether spent about 4 hours; Id recommend bringing a lunch to enjoy there before starting your day.
The garden is beautiful. Perfect for weddings and a photographers dream.
Awesome antiques on display. Gardens and statues amazing
Always checking exhibits to see and enjoy
An amazing museum collection. Its fairly diverse with something to keep everyone busy and occupied. The gardens are a nice time, too.
Went for the traveling Maxfield Parrish exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed the rest. Glen Burnie House and gardens also great.
Beautiful gardens, interesting exhibits. I enjoy visiting with my mom. I do recommend.
Beautiful museum with fantastic displays and informative resources of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas.
Great place. Whole family enjoyed the lego exhibit as well as the museum.
Great Museum, wonderful Tiffany glass exhibition currently.
Highly recommend!
We love visiting the MSV
Nice museum. Very interesting! Art gallery in portion of museum also. Another must see while in Winchester. I learned much about the area.
Wonderful museum. Entry way has a revolving display of art by local and VA artists. Main museum has displays giving a rich history of the area and the influential figures. Can spend quite a while viewing and exploring the miniature house exhibit. Also has a changing exhibit which has featured famous comic book art, the dresses of famous heroines from movies through history and many other inspiring collections. Dont forget to check out the Glen Burnie House and Gardens.
I love this museum especially the gardens. Ive visited multiple times this year with my 2year old. He likes walking around and see all the statues and the water. The geese and ducks are also a big hit. I like the vegetable garden and the Japanese garden. Beautiful! They have some nice exhibits in the main building.
Took some of our grandchildren. It was a very hot day so they complained tons. Nice views and super cool Lego displays.
Went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The nature gardens were very enjoyable and the Lego sculptures were very impressive!
The Lego exhibit was fun and exciting. The staff went out of their way to help us when there was a problem with our Groupon tickets.
Beautiful grounds and home. I enjoyed the lego creations.
Took kids here after a morning hiking in Shenandoah. The picnic area is great. Our kids did a scavenger hunt in the gardens and also enjoyed the fairy houses hidden in the picnic area as well as the clever painted rocks. The two air conditioned areas are great on a hot day. We liked looking in all the mini houses as well as the light and cat art displays. It was plenty for us for about 90 minutes before we had to get going. I could see spending a leisurely 2 hours and enjoying it all. We didnt make it to the Asian gardens or other further parts of the museum.
Always new exhibits. Great staff, and clean facities
This place is awesome a lot of exhibits a lot of photos paintings of artifacts in the gallery and garden is amazing all the different Lego designs. A great place to bring the kids spend a couple of hours there absolutely recommended.
An amazing place! Highly recommend a visit!
This place was awesome. Very worth it for both adults and children. With cheap tickets and amazing scenery its a deal. The Lego structures definitely add to the atmosphere in a positive way. But integrating nature and Legos really gets children super excited out being outside and off their devices. If you are in the area I really recommend going and taking a peak.
Beautiful museum! The gardens are beautiful all year long and I love how they have all different kinds of classes for kids and adults!
This is a great place to visit, they have a large gallery that they change out occasionally and they showcase very talented artists. It’s fun to see what’s new.
Beautiful grounds. The Lego exhibit was fantastic. A great way to spend the morning.
Very interesting exhibits. My favorite was the dollhouses & their furnishings that were handmade by someone who lived on the property
Really wished we came here when it just opened. The colors of the legos were a but faded from it being an outside exhibit. But it is still impressive
Beautiful facility with a pleasant, professional, volunteer staff. Great walking trails and even botanical gardens. Many special art displays and other programs are always changing there. A must see while visiting the area.
Liked the stroll through the gardens. Saw the stained glass exhibits for something different. Overall an excellent experience.
Beautiful gardens and museum. The garden is amazingly gorgeous with paths that display different asthetically pleasing areas. I want to live in the pink house on the grounds. They offer art classes and stuff for the public to do.
Such a beautiful and historic place. the gardens are so well taken care of with all different types of flowers, vegetables, and fruits. I would love to go there again.
Gorgeous, private, open, and well kept. Kudos to all involved in making the MSV such a great place for Winchester residents and visitors!
I went today for the things come apart exhibit and loved it! I was a bit sad to here that the opening of the new trails has had to be pushed back a bit though. I am trying to wait patiently!
What a Pleasant surprise in Winchester. This engaging, authentic and surprising museum has an eclectic (in a good way) collection ranging from lovely gardens, traditional and modern sculpture, and a variety of exhibits in the museum with Tiffany (at our visit), history of the people of the Shenandoah and much more. The art space was lively, and we enjoyed our chat with Teetwo!
Good experience. Not all exhibits were available at the time we went.
Well maintained museum with enough to see. Love the miniatures. Also the gardens are excellent!
A geat and easy going museum covering the history of the area. Interesting and well set up with some really nice exhibits. The staff waa really friendly and informative. We had a fantastic time there a few weeks ago.
Overpriced and extremely strict photography guidelines. :(
Was some awesome art displays
Great day trip. Not crowded. Nice acerage around. Nice garden area.
Modern museum. Went to see the Tiffany display. Stayed to look at all. Great place. Comfortable.
Well displayed galleries. Interaction. Accessible grounds.
