Love this place. The funnel cake is bomb and the snow cones....YASSSSSS
This is a very nice carnival with super nice employees. The rides were well maintained, the ride operators were extremely polite and pleasant. The food was great and fairly priced so our family had a fantastic experience with Skelly’s Amusements at the Deerfield Festival NJ! A big shout out to the funny lady at the dragon roller coaster and the cool guy at the bungee jumper! They both went above and beyond to ensure our kids had a great time!! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars from us! This review is coming from an old Carny too so I know both sides of the fence! Great show! Thank you Skelly’s and hope to visit another one of your shows soon!!
Joseph Skelly, the shows founder, started Skelly’s Amusements in 1956. One evening on his way home from work, he noticed a truck mounted Merry-Go-Round for sale; an idea was born. He borrowed some money to buy the ride and soon put it to work. He would come home from his job as a bookbinder and after a quick dinner, would drive the Merry-Go-Round through the streets of Darby, Pennsylvania, charging 10 cents a ride. It had 8 tiny horses that he would push around by hand while music played.By the early 60’s, more equipment had been added and a route of church carnivals had been established. Most of the events were in New Jersey, thus in 1965, the company moved to Pine Hill, New Jersey.Nearly forty years later, Skelly’s Amusements is now located in Williamstown, New Jersey. Tom O’Connor and Michael Skelly own the company. It has grown to a 25-ride operation providing fun for fairs, carnivals and festivals in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Gone are the truck mounted and gas driven rides of the past; in their place are trailer mounted, computer controlled machines designed for intense thrill and extreme safety. The ride operators are trained and the inspections are documented. Skelly’s Amusements is committed to providing safe, fun family entertainment with the cleanest rides, game and food concessions available. Thank you and enjoy our site.
Very nice carnival and great employee!!
Games are a SCAM they not real I used to work there . They scam you for your money and give you small prizes. You won’t ever get a big prize. Food is left out all day
Malways felt safe always!!!
I have been to several carnivals with Skellys amusements as the vendor. I never did a review but last night in Bear Delaware at a carnival, I was so disappointed and will never go again. We paid $10 for 2 adult admissions and $60 for 2 unlimited rides wristbands for the kids, plus a few extra tickets so we can take turns riding with them. All of the rides lines were extremely long to be a small carnival. I never had to wait 20-30 minutes for a less than 60 second ride at one of their carnivals, no exaggeration. So after a while I realized why the lines took so long, it was because a majority of the rides were not 100% working so it limited the number of riders each time. One ride had 3 out of 4 rides available. Another ride, that had 3 parts with each part holding 4 different seats, only had 2 parts open to riders. So it has 12 seats, but only 8 were working for riders. Another ride where you lay down on stomach, had several seats not open to ride. I do not know how many because it was so big, you couldnt see all the way around it from 1 spot. But I did notice, on 1 section which seats 4, only 1 person was on that section. As well as several other rows were not filled. This being one of the longest lines at the carnival!I do, however, think the ride attendants do a good job with not ripping off the parents with charging tickets on the smaller rides. Especially when my child has a wristband, but wants me to ride with them. But I do not think this offsets all the bad.
Very very disappointed in what happened to me the last night of the GDS fair. We went to the star shoot game. First off I understand that there are rules. I get it. I really do. But the person running the stand flat out scammed me and to be honest I will never ever spend a penny of our money on the games of Skelly’s again. With half of my bb’s left, I thought I had the entire star gone. The stand attendant pulled the paper in, grabbed it before I could see it, turned his back to me and said no not all gone. (He didn’t know I wasn’t out of BB’s) I said fine put the paper back down there and I’ll shoot out any red left. As he is putting the paper back on the hook he was laughing hysterically saying yeah good luck. When the paper was back in place, it was impossible to see any red at all. There was NO RED SHOWING. My wife even looked, and three other people looked and said there was none at all. Now my kids are standing there all excited that they were gonna get a large stuffed animal. So I asked the guy to show me where there was any red, he told us he wasn’t obligated to tell me where to shoot. So I had enough bb’s left to go all the way around the paper again which I did. So now I know for a fact the red is gone. He reels it back up, grabs the paper and unfolds a dot of red that he previously on the first time, folded behind the paper so I couldn’t see it. That’s a scam. That’s ridiculous. I know you people have to make money and you’re there to make money but scamming people is not the way to do it. I promise you, I will never ever spend a penny of money with your organization ever again. Now here is the better part, a dozen or so people watched that happen and watched the whole thing and I heard most of them say they won’t spend another penny on the games either. If you want to run a business do it honestly. Make this right and get my kids the stuffed animal that I fairly won for them and was scammed out of.
Daughter worked here for a few months good for a first job .. but the hours and the money they pay these kids is sad.. work 10/13 hours a day for 8 bucks in 90 degree weather.. isnt ideal
Ive been to skellys carnival plenty of times and i had a great experience. The employees are all nice and very respectful.
Like a second home..love it here
