This was my first show here. It wasnt what I was expecting. I was expecting something more like the Wells Fargo center. Its more like an old style theatre, kind of like Kings Theatre in Brooklyn but not as pretty. The balcony seats I chose were amazing. I dont think there was a bad seat in the house, unless maybe you were in the back of the floor seats. The acoustics in the building were fantastic. Ghost put on one of the best shows Ive seen them play, even with their lead guitarist being injured during the intermission. Parking was free on the street. We parked 2 blocks from the venue, a 4 minute walk. There was no traffic like you typically encounter at concerts. I would definitely see another show here.
The center is absolutely tremendous. There is no bad seat in the house. There is however one small problem. Downstairs where the main crowd is there are only two unisex bathrooms that only one person can go in at a time. The main bathrooms are upstairs they also are not very big but thats all there is they really should add some bathrooms downstairs a main mens and Main womens bathroom downstairs. But the place was beautiful and show was great the staff was tremendous I highly recommend it just try to go to the bathroom before you go in
Had the most amazing time. Thank you to my boyfriend for the best Christmas present. I know you say through this for me. I luv love you ️️️️️️ so much. Trisha is the best
Great place to see a show. Seats are very comfortable, had bars available for drinks, bathrooms for general public located upstairs and downstairs, main floor has one but is primarily used for handicap people or those who cant walked up and down stairs. Staff and security were good, everyone was checked at the front door, biggest problem is parking. The square is hit or miss for a spot, although there are parking garages available a little bit away. Overall great venue, Mona and Blue October put on an awesome concert, and would highly recommend it to anyone!
We saw jake owen at the kirby center! It was a great performance! We were on the balcony section. Second row from the rail. I will say the row in front of us was not attached to the ground well and moved a lot to the point the girls in front almost fell forward a few times. Otherwise its a normal small theater with overpriced drinks but the tickets were well priced so cant complain! Would go again!
Awesome small venue. Right in the middle of town, close to everything. I was here for the #AceFrehley show, and the acoustics were amazing!
Great asset to Wilkes Barre. Seats are comfortable with plenty of space between rows. I would definitely recommend the Kirby Center. My only criticism is we sat in the balcony 1st row by the walkway and the security guards walked back and forth during the show multiple times with distracted from enjoying the show. You can see in the picture the security guard stand and blocking the stage and screen.
I went to see RENT and it was fantastic. The venue is beautiful and there isnt a bad seat in the house. My only complaint would be the prices of the drinks and the woman selling the merch for the show was extremely rude (I dont know if she was affiliated with the venue or just the touring company). I have been to the Kirby before and will definitely be back.
A fun place to see a show. My wife and I had a great time. The parking was easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again.
GREAT venue! Not a bad seat in the place!
Kirby center great. Parking not so much. Garage doesnt take anything but cash and the automated machine broke. No assistance available and we were stuck in the garage for almost an hour. Thanks Wilkes Barre city.
Show was good but the ushers didnt do their job. People was standing up and blocking the view from those who were seated. Then it was a free for all with people running towards the stage.
This a pretty cool venue for a show. Great architecture, good sound. Ive sat in a few different areas of the auditorium and Ive never had a bad seat. The ticket prices always seem reasonable as well.
Nice venue. Event Parking signs would have been helpful. Its an older facility, but still presents itself well. Attended a concert with 2 of our granddaughters. Kinda sucks that the only restrooms are on the 2nd floor.
What a great night! Dinner next to the theater was awesome and Josh Gates was outstanding!! Wonderful place to see a show or concert!
FM Kirby Center absolutely Fabulous! Not a bad seat in the place. 2 bars friendly staff! Highly recommend this venue to see a show.
Very nice place for a concert. We went to see Walk the Moon here. Dont know if it was the right venue for a band like them but it was a very nice, old theater. The security was immense - I was surprised how many security guards there were throughout the building (which Im thankful for!)
Very good place to see someone. Seen concerts and comedians. Small venue so it seems more personal. Easy access and very clean. Parking just down the street too.
Enjoyed the show...the only thing was there could be more restrooms. Other then that we always love coming here!!
Seats were fantastic. Ushers were witty and laid back. Berts show was awesome!!
The Show was Outstanding! What A Great Valentines Evening
Outstanding theater, truly a Diamond of small venues. Extremely comfortable seating and spacious areas to mingle. Well stocked cocktail and beverage facilities. Extremely clean restroom. I would highly recommend this to anyone...
Really a good place to see a show. Free parking right there. Well maintained theater.
The F.M. Kirby Center has so much charm. I have seen many shows there throughout the years, and the staff are always polite and helpful.
Really good time seeing Yanni. Very impressed with number of venues the Kirby center has been providing
This place is falling apart! Over priced consesstions and you still cant keep you wall paper on the walls! Great place otherwise.
Pretty musky/old place and old seating. Needs an entire revamping! Had a good time for a band I havent seen and wouldnt other shell out a lot of money for. Still, a long drive from the LV for a venue of this kind.
This was the first time I was at the Kirby center, and it was terrific. What a gem in Wilkes Barre! The parking was convenient, the building is beautiful, and the staff was friendly. Whats not to love?
Such an amazing theater. Went to see Brit Floyd here back in the summer time and it was crazy good!
Beautiful venue, inside lobby is stunning with a grand staircase, very clean, great variety of shows and wonderful acoustics. Youll it!
Great venue! Not a bad seat in the house!
A nice venue for the arts. Very clean and everyone was freindly. The crowd was a bit excited tonight and security could have used a few extra staff to settle everyone.
Parking close by, beautiful inside, no matter where you sit you can see the stage perfectly
Great show. Parking was close. Eats and drinks.
Saw Alice Cooper here a while back. Nice theatre. Well-decorated. Doesnt really stand out as a venue but at least the show was good.
Beautiful Art Deco theater. Comfortable seating. Excellent venue for enjoying a performance.
The show was fabulous. 5 acts every one was great. Joe Nardone does a wonderful job bringing us all these great musicians. Cant wait till March for the next one with The Duprees.
The seats have room to get buy between rows which also gives really appreciated leg room
Very good place to see a concert. Not a badd seat in the house. Not as expensive as some other venues for a drink.
Definitely my favorite small concert venue in NEPA. Friendly staff, comfortable seats and a membership plan that is a huge return on investment. Keep the great shows coming!
I remember FINALLY being able to book a movie matinee in the Before the Kirby was the Kirby series, and it happened to be a great film. The speakers startled me some, but thats pretty much expected by now. The bigger issue was I wasnt really sure where the heck I was supposed to sit since I hadnt been there in ages. I finally managed to find a seat and maybe it was accurate because nobody showed me away, or maybe I was in the wrong seat the whole time and it was just okay because the movie was starting up.
Always a pleasure! Seats are nice, the staff is helpful. Not a bad view in the house. Easy to find and lots of easy parking and great restaurants within walking distance.
Great little place with comfortable seating. The restroom on the main floor was for the handicapped but no one tells you that until youre waiting in line for 10 minutes. Everything is clean and it has an older feel to it. They dont have their own parking so you have to either park on the street or park in the parking structure across the street
Great venue. Clean and super friendly.
Hassle-free to get into events (nothing like the Mohegan Sun)! The red coat ladies are very welcoming and organized! This place has a lot of history and a nostalgic vibe.
We were in the last row of the balcony. Still great sightlines and sound quality.
Saw Trisha Yearwood! Excellent show, grest venue!
I have been to several shows here over the years of varying genres (ex: Zappa plays Zappa, Ghost) and it has always been a great experience. Big venue, great seats anywhere in the theater. Ive been dead center and balcony, and both have wonderful views and seating arrangements. Decent location, parking nearby (street if youre lucky but there are two parking garages near), average to cheap pricing. Just bought tickets there today and it was 70 dollars cheaper to buy it at the box office than on ticketmaster for the same tickets. The clerks in the box office were very friendly, kind, and helpful. I like this venue a lot.
I drove one and half hours to purchase tickets from the box office according to their recording it was open but to my surprise it was close . Workers inside said its not open till Tuesday. Wasted my gas and time for nothing. Thanks a lot Kirby center
Excellent! The World of Frank Zappa was excellent I highly recommend to anyone that liked his music. His band played flawlessly and Frank performed brilliantly! Who else but Zappa can put on such a show from beyond this world?
Great seats, great performer Tiffany Jenkins and great staff. I saw Avenue Q there years ago. There really isnt a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful, Art Deco old school theater. We went there to see Its a Wonderful Life on the big screen. It did not disappoint! The sound system could use a little overhaul, but otherwise it was a beautiful experience. We will be going back to see Singing in the Rain!
This is one of the nicest theaters for stage shows we have ever been in. Lobby is throwback to a time when going to the theater was said with pride. The archetecture is very finely reminiscent of a bygone age. Seating is roomy and every seat has a good view of the stage. We would go again if it werent so far.
A fantastic night with the BEE GEE Band we all had wonderful time.
The concert was amazing but the parking garage was a disaster and the ushers talked nonstop during the performance. For an all acoustic performance, we mostly heard them talking and laughing.
Great center. Amazed at the friendliness of security, ushers, and other staff. Concessions were easy access, handicap accommodations were available and everything was wonderful.
Great views and sound from any seat.small venue with big concert feel
Very well restored and maintained. Awesome staff.
Very nice place and very polite staff. The inside is very beautiful with the architecture. Prices for shows are very reasonable.
Very nice venue. Good place to see show. Ace didnt come on until 930, after event staff told us 845, but all good.
Older building. Lots of seating. Comfortable seats and clean
Awesome concerts they get alot of 80s acts rock and country Awesome employees
Great theatre, with an amazing atmosphere!
Saw John Mulaney, Pete Davidson, and Sam Jay at the Kirby Center and it was awesome! Great venue. Comfortable seats. The only reason I took away a star is because one of the ushers went on and on about how awful the people performing were. Uh, lady, we bought tickets to the show so we probably dont agree with you!! Keep your opinions to yourself please.
Wonderful theater! Definitely will return!
Great shows yet not too big of a place.
The Kirby Center continues to he a great spot to see a show. We had a very nice time. The seats were comfortable and refreshments were priced well.
Nice place. It is a little small, so the sound bounces quite a lot.
Fantastic venue for the amazing Conor Oberst concert! Well worth driving a few hours out for.
Got good setting for Darcy Lynne. Meet and greet. Thanks to Gen. He was great to me. Give him a bonus. Thanks again, Gen.
Clean venue, clean bathrooms. larger than it looks. Slightly out of date but not a big deal. As with most venues food and drink is over priced. More importantly, saw a concert here, the sound quality is amazing and seems like theres not a bad seat in the house.
A true gem in the heart of Wilkes-Barre. Such an absolutely gorgeous venue with an outstanding staff. Love.
Great theater for live performances! Great revival for the local economy!
Comfortable seats, beautiful building. Sound system was a bit too loud for me, distorted the voices so it was difficult to hear the singing clearly. Great performers!
Took my 4 year old son to see frankie valli and the four seasons. He loved every minute of it.
Great place to see a concert.seen alice cooper there.not really a bad seat in the house.looking forward to going back
Great view from almost every seat. Clean. Small snack area thus the 4 stars.
Large enough to accommodate many and small enough to be personal. Theres really not a bad seat in the house. Cheap seats are just fine but up front and close bring every performance worth the extra bucks. You can make eye to eye contact. The volunteer are charming and accommodating. They set the tone for a comfortable evening out. There is a bar between acts, costly but well poured. The overall condition of the center is grand, including the bathrooms up and dwn stairs. Ive had the joy of attending here as a child for Movies, now as an adult in stage performances and be entertained by some of the Worlds best, (Golden Oldie, Sesame Street, Dance, Magic, Rock N Roll, Comedy, Country...) This is the place to be entertained. Centrally located in dwn Wilkes Barre, where Hotel, restaurant, Mt. State Lands are near by. Short excursions, make a well planned day for some. Welcome to the Valley with a heart. Parking is a bit costly but there is parking within close distance to the Center. Check out my restaurant reviews to meet ur fancy. You can not go wrong with visiting the F.M. Kirby Center. Please note, if my review help you, please LIKE the reviews. Thk you in advance. kj
Quaint nostalgic historic venue, but a rather vigorous security screening, which is neither here nor there, just dont be surprised. Most checks this side of an airport.
Great venue easy to get to and not a bad seat in the whole place.
Recently saw Brit Pink Floyd here beautiful restored art Deco theater sound was wonderful and the show was amazing
I love the nostalgia v Kirby center brings two special.
They advertised Cathy Najimy, Hocus Pocus. I and others thought we were going to see the show. What we saw was her talking about herself. Very low on the theater description. Quite a few of us walked out. On the way out I could hear diagruntled people at the box office asking g for the manager.
Good venue for larger and smaller shows. Easy to get to. Ample parking close by.
The theater has good acoustics, comfortable seats and clear sightlines.
We enjoyed the show. The atmosphere was awesome.
The usher was very accomadating the atmosphere is just right
A gem of the Wyoming Valley, this theater hosts a wide variety of concerts, comedians, and other events. A beautiful building built in the early 1900s, the space features comfy seats, a full bar, concessions, and great views from every seat.
Large beautiful theater. Seats a little low. Poor sound system. Meter parking free after 8pm. Many restaurants around the nearby square.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching Young Frankenstein on the big screen at the Kirby tonight!
Danny Gokey is amazing :) the Kirby center was nice. Chairs were decent but you stand and dance mostly. Employees were very kind and patient. Lights and sound were fantastic. Amazing thank you so much for the best night in a long time
I love attending concerts and this venue was perfect in so many ways. The seats were comfy, the staff, when I verbally ordered tickets were awesome. The venue is well ventilated, they let you bring your drink inside the venue. There isnt a bad seat in the house and so on and so on. I cant say all of these nice things about many venues, but this one is a well kept gem.
Beautiful theater with loads of history, and decor to match. We enjoy ourselves every time we visit. The Kirby Center attracts some wonderful talent and the experience is always memorable.
Great venue. Comfortable and clean.Good sound quality.
Love the kirby Center for concerts. Love the old theater Charm. Have been there twice. one for a concret and once for Bob the builder with our son. will definatly go again. Only drawback is due to Sundance Vacations Sponsoring the box office. I have now gotten 4 phone call from them regarding the tickets i purchased (one even said she had the slip in front of me i filled out. WHAT??) Otherwise no faults at all with the venue!
Ive visited the Kirby Center for many events and shows ranging from childrens, magic, and concerts of many genres over a decade span. I desperately want to give this theater 5 stars but Im struggling for 3. Among all the venues visited, I have the hardest time seeing anything here. Im nearly 6 ft tall so Id attribute it to row spacing, height, and seat alignment. I just dont know. Always craning to see around the head in front of me means the patron behind is also looking at the back of my head. The sound isnt always fantastic.I left the Dwight Yoakam show early. Not a technical sound person so bear with me. Every time a loud or high part of a song hit, there was loud audio distortion. Timed it to once every minute on a very conservative estimate. I cannot believe the performers could keep playing like that. Dwight even commented on it to the crowd. I hope to pick up a show elsewhere as this was a gift from my wife knowing Id wanted to see him for years.Another time the sound suffered was the Gene Ween show. He played in the lobby right inside doors. Most of the crowd was consigned to the darkened stairwell in the back and it was tough to not only miss the audio quality but also seeing the performer.I cant carry a pocket knife in. Is this a big deal? Not really I guess but Ehhhhh. Its goofy. Checked it at the last show like it looked 25 other people did too according to the weapons basket. I could tell the woman got sick of checking them. I dont know how concealed firearm patrons feel or fare, but thats a big issue in the area.Theres a beverage involved man: I know its industry standard but paying more for a reasonable number of drinks at a show than one does the ticket always feels dirty.Id like to enjoy this theater in the future but it will be an uphill battle. I hope your experience differs from mine or the issues I mentioned arent ones that might deter you from visiting.
Great venue! Not a bad seat in the house, but sound is best towards the sound board located behind the last row in the center section.
Great venue. Wish like many places they would step up their drink selection with better choices.
First visit was for a Ray LaMontagne concert. Really nice theater, great experience. Decent restaurants nearby for dinner beforehand. A bit of a drive for us but will definitely go there again for an event.
