Relaxing, well-kept and beautiful surroundings! Great for a quick and convenientback to nature escape! The pond is serene, trees are abundant and lush and the river is majestic. Met hubsand (who works downtown), grabbed some lunch from local West Delano District, ate a picnic, then ambled through the exhibit. Plus all the park and exhibit are free!!! Love this city!!!
I was sad that I didnt get a picture of the bobcat before he went into his cave, but he was gorgeous. And we got to see the red-shouldered hawk close up because his handler was taking him for a walk. And we were able to get stories of some of the critters from the lady while she was feeding and cleaning. You can tell they love the animals and put their hearts into the work.
Small zoo containing local animals that have been rescued and being well taken care of. We were fortunate on a recent visit to have a keeper explain the backgrounds of a few of the animals.
Go at 11 am feeding time! Very passionate, knowledgeable, kind explanations of our native wildlife.
Come on, this place can have five stars for simply existing and being what it is: free and interesting. Sure, its not worth a special trip but if youre in the area, spend some time noticing the incredible colorations of the wood duck or the proportions, up close, of a bobcat. To call it small is an understatement, but to call it charming also might be.
I love the animals even the bobcat
Watching the animals have enrichment and fun is so great
A choice experience seeing Kansas animals close up. If you are there when they are, the keepers love telling the individual stories of each animal. Did you know Bobby the Bobcat is 20 years old? In 1998 his mom was hit by a car while carrying him in her mouth.
This is a great, little, FREE exhibit in Riverside Park. There is some good information about some animals that are native to Kansas. Plaques talk about the animals on display as well as talking about different types of animals, such as predators and prey. When we went it was feeding time and my 4 year old enjoyed seeing what the different animals eat.
A very nice walk, very small but beautifully keeped zoo, awesome splash pad for the kids (adults also) nice playground too.
Wonderful little zoo. Free and the staff is incredible and friendly.
Great variety
Quiet, peaceful free small zoo with native Kansas animals. Good views of animals, birds and habitats. No petting. Educational signs posted. Replicas of animal footprints in sidewalks. Located in large city park with playground equipment, fountains, benches.
Love the animals
This is a cute exhibit of native KS animals but there are only a few animals in small cages. It was really hot when we were there and the animals didnt look too great. We saw a beaver eating food pellets, a few turtles, birds and a possum, but a lot of the animals were hiding out of the heat.
Needs a few more animals
Beautiful animals and extremely nice, knowledgeable, and informative staff.
A large park with various things to look at, including the small animal exhibit. Depending on the time of year, there may not be many animals.
Free mini zoo in park with splash pad and nice playgrounds
Went here hoping to see some wild life, and there was no animals here and the doors were closed. Looked online and it didnt mention anything about it being closed, maybe its just open in the summer
Conveniently located in the Central Riverside Park. Its an outdoor exhibit thats open all year, even in the bitter-cold Kansas Winter. The animals are living in outdoor habitats that are truly metal cages with some live foliage and water pools.
Fun place to visit
It was
They have a play ground and water fountain for kids
