Kids had a great time searching for animal tracks in the mud! We had a tough time keeping them out of the mud! They also liked the butterflies and the animals in the aquariums.
We took my 2 year old and she loved it. Its not real big and its not real small. The staff are super nice. The guy that led us around was very knowledgeable. You could tell he enjoyed his job. They have some neat creatures. They all looked happy and like they were cared for. My favorite was the butterfly exhibit.
Great place to visit, if you get a chance try Science Saturday! Geared for 6th grade and under, it is always a good time. The trails are nice but bring bug spray.
Very clean and wonderful to see all the animals and learn about nature. My 5 yr old especially loves the library and nature trail.
A great place to visit even if you arent with you dont children. The staff are knowledgeable and so happy to help and explain everything to you.So much fun to see animals up close. When there this time I saw the bull snake preparing to shed its skin and when touched acted like a rattlesnake.Even saw a roadrunner up close. The butterfly enclosure was also great to be able to go to even though it was a cool day and the butterflies were all settled and resting.
Kevin was an amazing guide! Very down to earth and knowledgeable. You can tell they really care for the animals. Very professional site, but very welcoming and friendly. Enclosures were great. Couldve spent all day in there. I hope the site can stick around for years to come.
Neat little non profit. The prairie dogs were adorable!
Their website, as of the writing of this review, does not say face masks are required. However, after driving over an hour to get here, I was told that it was mandatory to enter. I came with a 6 & 4 year old. How are they expected to wear face masks? There wasn’t a soul in the place so we posed ZERO risk to ANYONE. Employees couldn’t make a judgment call to allow a three people, who clearly do not have Covid, to come in a look a damn butterflies. This place is a joke and I’ll never be back, solely out of principle.
The center is very well taken care of, and the staff is really friendly. Although we went there in winter, it was still very nice to visit, as prairie dog and butterflies were still inside so we could see some of them. The park is really enjoyable for a walk, and its a super interesting and simple activity to do even if you dont have children.
We had a great time. Were coming back soon (because it was raining & lightning) to walk the trails.
Lots of things to learn and see. The rocks and butterflies were the best. Handicapped addressable trail. Spring and summer would be the best time to go, but I was there Christmas eve and it was still really nice.
Weve been at River Bend Nature Center yesterday and loved it! Will walked with us for the whole visit and taught us a lot of new things about snakes, spiders, turtles and other insects! Its been pretty cool beacuse he showed us Tarantulas on his hand and we learned how to find out where scorpions are hiding! People here are really nice and they always try to help you and to teach you something new about nature! We went through the nature trail and even if its winter is pretty cool! This place is a gem in Wichita falls! Highly recommended!
Great nature center.
The waterfalls was not working. And to many people were disappointed!!!
Nicest workers evar! Yall need to give a raise to the guy who made a kazoo out of a leaf! What a fun place for adults and children!
Needs more... Just more
Extremly impressed with this place! Nice and beautiful.
Beautiful place and great experience for all ages.
We just returned from our visit and really enjoyed ourselves. We have a 2yo and he was very entertained. We got there first thing and hardly anyone was there so we had a lot of personal one on One with the staff which was really nice, they showed us alot of the animals up close and personal which was really cool! The butterfly exhibit was so nice and peaceful! The childrens garden was a little disappointed not much to do in my opinion. But it was a pleasant walk and not too far. We did not go on the nature trail because it was too hot. But overall a really good experience! Small and quaint.
We are visiting Texas from the UK and stopped by whilst in Wichita Falls. We couldnt have been more impressed, what a hidden treasure! Even when paying for our tickets we had a gorgeous, friendly bearded dragon to greet us on the counter! All of the staff seemed to have a genuine love for the animals and the guy that showed us around (I am so sorry not to have caught his name) knew them all by name and on a personal level. The variety of animals was awesome and the prarie dogs were ridiculously cute! Even the building itself was neat...the glasshouse section had butterfly shaped joiners for all the support beams not just big chunks of steel! 10/10! And so cheap...be sure to donate to keep them going :)
Nice little hidden surprise! My kiddos loved it and Lee was wonderful with them as well. Lee was very informative and answered all of their questions big or small without hesitation!
I liked this little nature conservatory. The admission is really good, $5 for general and $4 for military/senior. The main conservatory has a few animals running loose and a separate butterfly garden inside. I didnt get to walk the full nature trail because it was 100° and I had my 6 year old daughter. It was well worth the price to visit and experience the local natural habitats and wildlife.
I have taken my son to tons of Nature Centers back in IN and NC. But when it comes down to learning and how active my kid can be this one was the best. Amazing staff! Learned all about the animals in the area and snakes. Butterflies were asleep since its winter but didnt stop us from going on the trail. I know I will be heading back there soon. Well worth the admission
Extremly impressed with this place. Kevin was someone you could tell was in love with his job. Overly informative, kind, engaging and inviting. Ill be back here every time I pass through Wichita Falls.
Really nice place for kids and adults. We visited during the weekday and the guide took his time to explain all the exhibits and provide insight on the small animals. Small but nice trail for a leisurely stroll.
We were there for a wedding. It was a beautiful venue. Many other activities going on but it didnt seem crowded. Friendly and helpful staff.
Worthwhile place to visit in Wichita Falls. If you want to learn about the local critters, go no further. They have a friendly staff of volunteers when were eager to show us around. The roadrunner and butterfly room were definitely highlights of the trip.
Im currently stationed at Sheppard AFB for tech training and decided to get off base and walk to Lucy Park. I didnt know that this place was there, but Im glad I decided to check it out! The staff there are very friendly and are eager to tell you about the animals and plants. The greenhouse is absolutely beautiful, with butterflies and other wildlife roaming around (look out for the roadrunner and bullfrogs(s?)). The prairie dogs are hard to miss!
This is a really neat and quaint place with some really cool exhibits. Great for kids and even adults.
Great place for wedding rental. It has so much more to offer and has added new projects for children and adults that are interested in learning about the natural world around them.
Dead in the winter, literally. We went in January and were surprised that even everything in the greenhouse was dormant; the trees had all lost their leaves with piles of dead leaves everywhere, the grasses and plants were all dead (and not cleaned up), etc. The only living thing was a holly-type of plant. We did get to see some very friendly prairie dogs with our guide Kevin (very informative) pick one up who loved to be scratched on her belly (see photo). We also got very close to a roadrunner. Other than the very small butterfly house with about 6 types of slow-flying butterflies (because of the cooler weather), not much to see. The inside insects, bones, fossils, turtles and snakes with guides were quite informative, and they had tables set up for kids to learn and make crafts. Very cool for rainy days, but I wouldnt want to pay full-price admission for that. They should consider charging half price in the winter months. We also walked the paved path which dead-ended at a stagnant pond. Again, nothing to see but brown winter trees. Very small nature center but for only $5.00, what can you expect?
Riverbend is awesome! Beautiful place to walk. Fun events and so educational for kids (and adults as well) love it!
A gem for kids, Janet is amazing and really made the trip.
My kids love coming to this place, learning about nature, plants and animals. Usually always an event going on. Definitely a good place to check out. They also have nature trails out back that you can take hikes through.
Came here for a wedding. If youre in Wichita Falls Then you should definitely visit here. Its a lovely venue and has a beautiful nature trail
Awesome place have been many times. Nature trails beautiful scenery concret paths. Learn about animals, insects, nature also has a pavillion. Recently attended a wedding and reception there. Also get a family yearly pass every year.
Came for the electricritters event. I was afraid it wouldnt be worth it and would be a waste of time and money spent out in the cold, but we had a great time, thoroughly worth it.
I guess its a good place to take a date to... But my date just wanted to eat and eat. Then wanted me to buy her EVERTHING.
Excellent stop for road trips. We live several hours away but stop here to stretch our legs and see whats going on. Kevin is a great guide who is very knowledgeable and helpful.
A nice little spot to learn more about your local flora and fauna. The staff are very friendly and love to show you around.
Me and my wife enjoyed to trail and walk through, good way to spend an hour or so with the grandson. Looking forward to attending one of the many learning events soon with the grandson.
So many family friendly activities! The staff is great! Loads of knowledge on the local wildlife and very friendly.
Lots of critters for the kids to see and learn about. The staff was great and the gift shop was nice too not was too over priced and theres a good variety of toys and trinkets and Information.
You have to go here! My sister, mother, and I just recently visited and we had a total blast! If you go, ask for Kevin as your guide! He was more than amazing and was knowledgeable about literally everything. We learned so much and he even let us touch some of the animals. The staff were so nice and we will definitely be coming back. My family cant stop raving about Kevin!

Great place to see some of the plants and animals in the area. Beautiful place and a fun afternoon
Lots of cool exhibits to see! Live critters, interesting displays, and an awesome nature trail.
Not much changes here but the events are fun and family friendly. The people that work here are very informative.
Not too huge but just enough! The staff was soooo knowledgable and eager to to share their knowledge. It was like we paid for a guided tour!
Its a small compact place, but fun to explore especially if you are going with little kids
Halloween there. Overly crowded. Fun costume parade with prizes
Been going there since I was a kid. The park is beautiful, and the butterflies are gorgeous.
The staff are so enthusiastic and knowledgable about the animals. Well worth the the small entrance fee.
An essential part of any visit to Wichita Falls. Be sure to walk the somewhat neglected nature trail. Well worth the small admission fee.
A gem of Wichita Falls, this lovely Nature Center is a great way to spend the day! From live exhibits to nature trails, theres plenty to see and do :)!!!
Just dropped donation off at Nature Center. Great people.
I think you should ask someone to come walk with you so if you have questions you can ask them
