Great Theatre for performances. We were attending the final BE Taylor Christmas Feel the Love show. Very similar to Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh except they allow snacks and drinks - even adult beverages. This was our second visit. The sound was great and so were our seats. Convenient parking was just a block away.
Beautiful inside and shows are always decent!
This is where I work and the history and architecture of this wonderful building blows my mind I find something new all the time maintaining this building means the world to me not to many people get to see the ins and outs the way I do
The atmosphere that this theater gives off is so majestic to me. I performed in Musical Theater for the Capital Music Hall Players at the Capital Music Hall. So many Great memories. So happy to see it still in use today.
Great place to experience a broad spectrum of artistic events. A glorious structure to have a splendid and grand ole time. Big cities could use more places like this to show their roots. Most cities have demolished places like this for more modern infrastructure like.. parking lots.. or Burger King. Wheeling is better for having the Capitol theatre.
Great venue for a concert. Historic and beautiful. There is not a bad seat in the house.
Acoustics are wonderful and the art deco fabulous. The Wheeling Symphony is in a class of its own. We usually buy season tickets...which are well worth it. Looking forward to another season with their new director. Wheeling is so fortunate to have their own symphony.
Was a truly wonderful experience with our Most Reverend Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop for the Episcopal Church in America. We fortunate members of St. Matthews, here in Wheeling, will have him tomorrow as presider and chief celebrant. What a great beginning for this weekend we had today at the Capitol.
Great acoustics for music .People who work there are helpful and friendly .Very clean place to take your kids
Billy Payne has such a great voice for the beautiful ballads. Tim Atwood is a very funny man and sings well. Mayf Nutter was his usual greatness. Hes so awesome! Lorrie Morgan! WOW! Just WOW! FABULOUS!
This was my first visit to Wheelings Capitol Theatre. Its a beautiful venue and so conveniently located. The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra is top notch and should be patronized by anyone who loves and appreciates music.
Nice facility! Not really a bad seat in the house. Slightly cramped but it was a sold out show!
Some surprising, high quality acts go through this little local theater.
Great place to hear a concert. Much more intimate experience than a stadium or arena.
Beautiful Cant wait to return!! Concert was Fantastic
Beautiful theater. Affordable nearby parking
Great acoustics and close cheap parking. I paid $5 to park 1/2 a block away for a concert.
Nice, old theater. Could use a facelift. Wish someone would invest to restore it to original glory. Saw a concert here that lasted a couple hours. Great sound! Seats were very tight, though. Not comfortable at all for full grown men. My guy friends couldnt bear to sit in cramped seats for entire show. :-( They had to get up & leave. Tightest seats Ive ever been in.
Jersey Boys ..front row pit..loved it! Easy to get to and park.
I always find myself looking up at the intricate detail of the crown molding and the curving sea of swirls that outline the entryway ceiling of this historical venue. This place breathes nostalgia and feels like stepping into another era but dont let that fool you. Whether you are in the front row being wooed by a performance or in the balcony overlooking the act, there isnt a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful theater. Been there many times
Beautiful place.Ws only walked by. We didnt go inside.
We had the privilege to see Dillon Carmichael and Dwight Yoakam on Saturday the 23. I hadnt been to the Capitol theater since I was a little girl but was pleasantly surprised at just how well its been kept up. Great show, beautiful building, wonderful staff. We commend you all.
Awesome musical. Would go there anytime, very nice.
Best place for a good show in all honesty .
We visited the Capitol Theatre for a performance of Hes Alive! The facility is historic and lovely. The sound was perfect and there really isnt a bad seat in the venue.
I have been to many great shows there!
It was great concert and was nearly upfront. Was hard to sit in seat because of ppl jumping up all the time and the usher/ guard was worthless to ask him to do something. Reminded me os a Statue. Otherwise good to see and hear Neal and Joe Zelek was also good.! I wish Neal would have sang a little more though
I went to see He’s Alive and it was so professional. The actors do amazing. Beautiful place and I would recommend coming here
Wish you could go back outside after you came in. If you have your ticket stub, I dont see what its hurting.
Excellent show, small theater. While chairs were comfortable, I agree with other comments that they are close. Not much shoulder room.
A beautiful theatre! Exquisite decor. My only nitpick would be the entrance/exit was a little cramped (probably built before modern fire codes).
The Vineyard church service held at the Capitol Theatre is AMAZING. Beautiful setting, comfortable & inviting atmosphere, wonderful message, and fantastic live music! So thankful that we found it
The Capitol is a very nice historic theater on Main Street in downtown Wheeling, WV. There are a few parking areas close to the theater; we paid $5 to park in a lot less than a block away. My only concern is the handling of handicapped seating tickets online. We wanted tickets to the Wheeling Jamboree Christmas show, and online you are directed to a special page asking you to verify your handicap. I submitted the form and was told that a representative would contact me within 72 hours. I never heard from anyone. We were able to get handicapped tickets at the theater, but that might always be possible. Staff at the theater were friendly and helpful, and the show was good, with the exception of some sound issues. I would recommend it.
Nice little piece of country music history
Not happy at all with the theater. Had tickets for the John Crist show November 23, 2019. My husband and I went down to Wheeling, West Virginia to see the show. We got there around 7:00. Shortly after a few other couples showed up for the show. We stood outside the theater in the rain, waiting for the doors to open. At 7:30 we all left and went to a nearby restaurant to ask about the show, only to find out it had been cancelled. None of us were notified of the cancellation, nor did we receive a refund by the theater for the cancellation. I do not believe we will be going to another event at the Capitol Theatre.
I attempted to call the theater to find out when he performance would end. Oh that was almost impossible. All of the phone numbers for the Capitol Theatre went to ticket agencies. The theater itself was good in the performance was excellent
Went to see the Wheeling Symphony saluting Aretha Franklin. It was fantastic!
Not a single bad place in the house to view anything.
Old and nostalgic beautiful theater plenty of seating restored
Wonderful show and a neat place.
Great sound and the orchestra is prime time!!
Gorgeous venue. Gothic beauty. World class entertainment. Were SO lucky that the fine folks do everything they can to keep the Capitol an incredible experience.
Nice theater, great acoustics and sound
Beautiful music Hall with a lot of great history. Staff is really friendly, but prices for concessions at events is like going to a ball game, overpriced, but I guess its to be expected. Saw the Wheeling Symphony tonight, playing songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John, and Paul McCartney. The symphony was amazing. The conductor was very good and had a sense of humor and the singers that came in were good. Song selection was pitiful. Shouldve been called Webber and Johns greatest hits. Hardly any McCartney. Other than that, it wasnt too bad.
Surprisingly elegant, grand theatre that I am use to finding in larger cities.
Beautiful inside very good hospitality
This is a gorgeous refurbished historic theater. The interior decorating is extremely beautiful, including a lot of gold leaf details and chandeliers. We attended a free event sponsored by a group of churches. It was a fabulous musical rendition of the Easter story. a huge cast of over 200, who greeted us coming in and thanked us on our way out. The costumes and sets were great! Well done. I would definitely go again.
Nice place to come see a viewing of night of the living dead
I remember attending a lot of events before it was remodeled. The seating was so comfortable back then. The present seating is so crapped, that you just cant wait for the performance to be over. When I chatted with others during inter, mission, they saidnthe same thing. That is so sad, that a company puts more seating, to make more money. yet makes the audience uncomfortable.I feel they should think of the public comfort. In the long run, it would pay off by having comfortable seating. You look around, people look like they are cramped like sardines.
Beautiful theater. Home of the old Wheeling Jamboree of WWVA Fame. Now hosts a variety of concerts and events, and is home of the Wheeling symphony
Love this historic theater. Beautiful!
Very helpful staff ! Beautiful theatre, just wish they had an elevator to the upper level.
Beautiful theater. BUT, they ran out of beer at a country music show!!!
Great old theater, recently restored. Im a big guy, 62 & 350#, and the seats are plenty spacious. There are snack and beverage options for purchase. Parking in Wheeling can be tricky, give yourself at least a half hour to park and get to the show.
I went to see the musical play Hes Alive the theater is awesome so historical the detail work is incredible its like stepping back in time
Is a very nice theater to go to for entertainment and music
Great placce.. saw Neil McCoy
Very nice great time Marty Stuart put on a extra long show very pleased
A cultural gem. Everytime I visit, I just cant believe its in our city and safe.
Nice theater. Well kept.Went to see Colin Mockery and Brad Sherwood. Not sure Ive ever laughed so hard in my life....
It is a very nice place for concerts. The acoustics are amazing.
Wheeling Symphony puts on a great concert.. the Capitol is a great venue for them.
Went for nieces wedding reception building older construction in good repair. Good food, staff very attentive. Sound system just ok. Had a great time.
Very nice and clean,, awesome show.. no complaints at all
Had an amazing time seeing Jerry Seinfeld! The theater is a little bit close knit, feels like everyone is on top of you. The guy in front of me had his arm around his wifes shoulders the entire show, and I was unable to move my legs without it being an issue. They had 2 concession stands open. The lines were extremely long, and one had run out of everything but alcoholic beverages, soda, and water. The restrooms reminded me of being elementary school, everyone can pretty much see everything. It was a great night though.
Great place ! Come see Hes Alive its an awesome play
A beautifully restored theater that provides opportunities to see a wide variety of amazing shows locally. The Capitol hosts the Wheeling Symphony, a Broadway series, comedy acts, and much more. This is a gem of the upper Ohio Valley.
Very beautiful place not a bad seat in the house good prices on food and drinks
This was a great show..
All good memories from 1960 to Yesterday!
Seen Jiggy and Mark Poolos, funny !Had A Blast!
Amazing asset to the community!
This is a beautiful theater. I am so happy that it still exists in Wheeling today! I hope that it continues to be in operation for many, many years to come!
This is a beautiful old theatre. I really enjoy every chance i get to see a preformace here. From folk bands to classical symphony...it has always been a pleasure.
First trip there since the remodel and working with them at one of the shows is awesome!
Beautiful old theater. Excellent symphony orchestra
Great place for worship! The Vineyard Church. Nondenominational
Beautiful place and great shows!
Gets hot inside from others body heat.
My granddaughter Brooke and I had a fantastic time with the Oakridge Boys
Its a lovely classic building with charm as well as updated restrooms and concession area along with those original to the building.
Not only is a spectacular building just to see some history and good shows, but also an amazing place to go to church!
First time going to the Capitol Theater. Drove 75 mins to get there. Well worth it. Great venue. Plenty of parking close by.
Excellent show. Tribute to the Highway Men
Wonderful venue to see the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra! Beautiful interior, comfortable seating, and perfect lighting for a romantic evening of music. The Orchestra was fantastic! We will be back soon!
Awesome place but the seats are for children. Larger people beware.
Great concert venue
Nice but high on food and drinks
Great old theater with a lot of character. The new seats are comfortable and a major upgrade to this already cool space.
Wonderful theater, love the old ceilings and beautiful woodwork, had a great time at the show on dec.19th.
Nice open space. Seats are comfy.
Not really handicap accessible for some walking with cane and bad knee. No where to stretch leg without getting hit by people passing by.Was there b for HES ALIVE.. Great performance.
Beautiful, historic theatre! If you have the chance to see a show here, do it. The sound in here is fantastic.
