Amazing place! So peaceful and beautiful. The mansion is amazing and the architecture will wow you. The tours are very informative and the property just oozes history. You can easily spend a day exploring the museums, rose gardens, trails, golfing. Highly recommended to check out. Ten bucks to get in and thats it. Well worth it!

The house tour was fantastic thank to Carol that volunteer there. Such a positive, warm lady full of knowledge, kindness, what an energy ! I will always remember this place thanks to her.

Free tours of the opulent Robert McCormick mansion. The beautifully landscaped grounds are open to walk and view. The only charge is five dollars for parking.

The Robert R. McCormick Museum is a stunning 35-room mansion that was the home of Chicago Tribune Editor and Publisher Colonel Robert McCormick. Completed in 1897, the mansion is filled with period artifacts from the Civil War through the early 1900’s. One favorite is the handwritten letter from Abraham Lincoln to the Chicago Tribune requesting a back issue in November 1860. Amazing.The ponds and fountains and serene. There are dozens of formal and informal gardens and a wide variety of flowers and trees. (See photos.) The Mansion is open most days for tours. It was cool seeing where scenes from Tom Hank’s A League of Their Own were shot. There are a number of different tours but the Full House tour shows you the most. The staff obviously love being here.Admission to the mansion/museum is free. You pay a $10 fee per carload as you come into McCormick’s Cantigny Park. Allow time to see the other sites at Cantigny including the extraordinary Big Red One First Division US Army Military Museum and dozens of tanks and vehicles you can climb. There is also a 27-hole golf course, playgrounds, a gift shop and restaurant.Cantigny is usually open daily except January and Mondays and is about 30 miles west of Chicago. The house is absolutely stunning. From the decor in the house to the furnishings that some are hundreds of years old. By far one of the best places to visit at the park if you have an hour to spend to take the tour its worth it. To see all the different secrets that are hidden in the house like the serving calling button and the secret bar in the library. If you have the time definitely take a stop by and take the tour.

I have been a member here for 4 months and have been incredibly happy with my membership. I have the Fitness Center only membership, and I love the selection of equipment and later hours. I can easily hit the gym after dinner and have no wait for any machines. Very clean. A few TVs are always on the fritz, but a small price to pay for great service, friendly staff, cleanliness, and a good price for monthly membership.

This was once the estate of media pioneer Robert McCormick. Theres a lot to see here so allow plenty of time to wander the gardens, take a tour of the historic mansion and walk past all the tanks on your way to visiting the military museum. Admission is free, but theres a change for each vehicle that enters, so load up the car and discover all the things that make Cantigny a great destination for the whole family.

Interesting house with a lot of history. Went WAY over the scheduled time limit (possibly because of some excessive questions). There was a bit of repetition as well. Best part: the gun collection.

Awesome! It was cheap to get in ($5 per car), and it was so pretty! What a nice chunk of land with impressive landscaping (gardens, tanks, childrens area, ponds, etc.), a really informative and uniquely designed museum, and one of the best tour guides of any tour Ive been on at the estate. We had a blast walking around enjoying the view and learning some history! We wished we knew about it sooner! This is a perfect day trip for anyone- even for handicapped persons and children!

Cantigny is amazing. The Roses were beautiful, as were the pumpkins and other fall decor. The mansion was beautiful. The docent leading the tour was very knowlegeable.

This is located within Cantigny park and gardens. At the time there was limited veiwing of the house as they were remodeling inside.

Went on the whole house tour. 1 hour long. Very informative to guide and a beautiful home. Full of history.

Must visit if youre in the area. The history of this estate and the McCormick family is incredible, and the wait is never too long. Get tickets for the on the hour house tour, since its longer. You cant go wrong.

Beautiful place, no question about that. I was on 11:30 am tour of the Mansion, August 5th. I was disappointed because we saw three rooms. Our guide mentioned McCormick house on Astor Str in Chicago. Somebody asked if it still exists. The answer was no. It’s a parking lot or something like that. WRONG!!! The mansion still exists. It’s a condo building now and it’s in good shape.Months later...I was WRONG. Different McCormick place. I’m sorry. My Apology to the guide and all of you who read this review.

Hourly tours, only so many on a tour get your ticket early. 1 room or 6 rooms. Original house had 15 rooms now 55.

Nice tour of a pretty home. Tour guide, Kristin, was awesome. Only draw back was that the check in desk is located in the room where the video is shown and there were several interruptions.
