Good pricing. Very respectful service. A nice place to shoot and have fun.
I went from a regular at another local indoor range to a regular at tims to I wont go anywhere else. The staff is always super friendly, always say Hi or Bye, even when they are with another customer. Theres another local place that wont even acknowledge you; you have to grab someone. They always ask where Ive been if it has been more than a week or so since I was last in. Also ask where my wife and/or father in law is when I am there by myself. Their facilities are super clean and very safe. I feel like I have room and Im not shoved into a box like some of the other local places that I wont mention.
Took the ladies 2:00 class today. It was awesome!!! Very impressed with Tims.5 stars!!!!
Excellent staff - great place to shoot. Always friendly and knowledgeable 5 stars
Great service and great pricing
Great place and great prices
Ive been shooting weekly at Tims since it opened and enjoy the convenience of a nearby well-run indoor range. The staff is both professional and personable and goes the extra mile with all customers from beginners to seasoned shooters. A+
Beginners only. Mostly focussed around making money off of the inexperienced. The knowledge of the greater gun community is intensely limited. Seasoned or Competitive shooters would do best to avoid.
Only 75 feet indoor range Ive seen in Indiana. Really small store. Small selection of firearms. What they lack in capacity they make up in selection. They only sell the best tools of the trade. I feel safe shooting here.
I practice at Tims Shooting Academy once or more monthly. Great staff, and a friendly and convenient place.Just had the opportunity to shoot my first Action Pistol match at their facility. Very helpful to a newcomer to competitive shooting, and the staff and other competitors were helpful.
Great shooting range with great staff. Would defiantly recommend to anyone.
As a long time shooter and even state champion in 1990 I have never been treated like a beginner like at Tims. Went to try a gun with a laser and was told no holstered guns allowed due to SAFETY. Rented a gun and found the laser was too weak to see. Had to push the on button every shot. It cost me with a box of their ammo and one target $14 to shoot 15 rounds. No one was on the range at 11:45 and I wonder why? No one understands gun and range safety more than I do, but I wont be going back.
Fantastic shooting range and gun shop. The range is open to the public. Staff here are always helpful and helped me assemble some accessories I purchased. They have been very friendly with my boy too. Make me feel like family.
Do not know how you operate or the process but I did just see a commercial. A very not so diverse commercial by the way. I’ll stick with an academy that thinks about ALL. Thanks but no thanks!
Safe, well lit, comfortable, & very well ventilated.Rates are very reasonable & weighted to advantage families. Staff are competent & well trained. Store is well stocked while avoiding the hostage pricing. While we were there, our Range Marshal was Joe who was able to both offer handy shooting tips while maintaining a steely-eyed watch over everyone. As a father I very much appreciated his presence & expertise. As a family, we will be back more often.
Went to Tim’s for date night. The ol’lady had never been to a shooting range before. We rented her a glock 17 and bought 2 boxes of ammo. It was a good time. Staff was very helpful. Will be back.
Great group of individuals working there. Friendly, respectful, knowledgeable & helpful.
What a wonderful experience. Staff is professional yet friendly. Knowledgeable yet patient. Gave pointers to my wife to help her enjoy the shooting experience.Definitely recommending to friends and family.
Great group of guys behind the counter. Been there a handful of times and never had a bad experience. Good prices. If you are brand new to guns or grew up with a 12 gauge in your hand this is a great place to go.
Always a great experience. I feel comfortable and safe at this range. Safety is very important to Tims and I appreciate that. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable and always willing to help.
One of the BEST ranges in the state hands down. A family owned facility that focuses on safety and fun. The staff is VERY knowledgeable and friendly, from expert shooters to novices all feel welcome here. The facility is clean, well ventilated and staffed on the range. With fair priced targets, eye wear and ear protection available there is no need to panic if you have forgotten anything.Ive looked through the other reviews and any negative ones Ive seen are written by people that work at other ranges in the area. Tims is THE place on the north side to go. Try it once and youll love it! Ask for Josh, tell them Tom sent you and he will take GREAT care of you!
Outstanding, experienced, helpful, friendly, courteous staff and owners. Tims has the best prices on firearms. Check out other places, but take your capital to Tims. 15 individual shooting lanes, air conditioned with a good exhaust system. Big on. S A F E T Y!! Monthly planning for different educational classes and permits. Etc.......
My wife and I decided to check this place out today mainly due to the professional looking website and the proximity to our place. Our first impressions were very positive as the place was sparkling clean and despite the lot appearing busy, the staff were super attentive and helped us out quickly in a friendly and respectful manner.Regardless of our initial contact with an individual employee, each and every employee seemed great to work and truly seemed to care about our shooting abilities, limitations, and any questions that we might have. We were even able to meet the owner and shake his hand. The employees at this place are well trained. The required safety video presentation was useful and was safety focused. You can tell that this company wants to keep people safe. When we entered the range, it was well lit and maintained. We loved having a dedicated range person employed to help, if any questions came up. The range person even offered me a great new shooting tip in regards to where to position my finger on the trigger that Im sure proved to save me much practice to get better accuracy and precision in my shooting. This place also had .380 ACP rounds, which are hard to find in person.I dont normally write these reviews, but in this case found it necessary as I will be sure to return to this place in the very near future. This certainly saves the drive to Lafayette that I was previously doing to go to the range. Be sure to visit!
Very helpful staff. Clean range. Lots of choices of rentals if you want to try something new. Ammo prices are in line with other places so its worth while buying it there to support the local business. Looking at taking some of their training courses next.
Knowledgeable staff, and very friendly. The range is SPOTLESS. Well lit, and very well set up. They have a GREAT selection of firearms and are more than willing to cater to new shooters. You will be required to sit through their safety/training video (about 10 minutes long) before you can shoot if you havent shot there before. Good prices and a great range, I love going there.
First time customer of Tims, and all I can say is what a great experience. Extremely friendly staff and customer service. I went in to shoot at the range. They were a bit slow and Jim took it upon himself to give me some pointers and tips with my new firearm. Glad I found this place. I will be back. Thanks guys!
First time customer and very satisfied. Tims range was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The staff greeted me as I walked in and got me started with their training video immediately. The range officer was helping some new shooters next to me and answered all of their questions. I will definitely be back to use the range.
Very good. When we needed help the staff took the time to help us.We had a very enjoyable time there. We will be back.
I have been going to Tims for over a year. I still consider myself a new shooter since I usually go once a month or so. EVERY time I go, the staff is very professional and friendly. They always take time to answer my questions, and make sure I fully understand the information I received no matter how busy they are. The lowest price stress reliever around!
Ive purchased 2 guns from Tims, and used the range probably 20 times in the 3 years they have been open. I have never had a negative experience. They are my go-to indoor range. Gun prices are kind of odd at times. I realize they price them based on how they buy them, but some used guns recently cost more than their new counterparts. Most recently, I took their Advanced Pistol class, and what a blast. They keep the training classes small, and its a great experience for the cost. Ill definitely be looking to see what other advanced, and advanced+ courses they offer in the future.
Great range in the north Indy suburbs. Friendly folks that work there. Reasonable prices. Very clean. And if you are a new shooter no one will make you feel stupid or like you dont belong.
Sad to see how this place claims their ammunition policy (i.e. steel cased ammo now allowed) was revised at the request of customers, yet when the rule was in place they would make up bs about how it is for safety. If it was actually for safety the rule should have stayed in place. Also referring to .223 rifle ammo as military-style and military-type ammo and requiring you purchase from them. Sounded like they were reading right off the front page of Huffington Post. Its great that they changed the policy, but the dishonesty to begin with was enough to prevent me from returning.
I purchased my first sporting rifle (an AK variant), and was excited to go try it out. I did not have a case nor any ammo for it, as I intended to purchase those here. As I entered, with the rifle under one arm, and 2 empty magazines in each hand, the people behind the counter yelled at me to stop, placed there hands on their firearms, and instructed me to leave the building. I complied, and was followed out by an older man, who advised me they have a Case required policy. I said that I was intending to purchase one from them, to which he had me wait, and returned with a tiny pink rifle case, and put my rifle in it (to the point that it could fit), and led me inside. They proceeded to try to sell me $30 a box ammo (this was when 7.62x39 was ~4$ a box for tula), which, as I was already quite upset by the whole situation, prompted me to leave. So I was escorted out, pink case and all, and upon entering my car, ended the worst gun range experience I have ever had. While I understand the policy they have, as well as the reason for the pink case (to deter someone from leaving with it per the old man), the fact is that as a customer who was just getting involved in the shooting sports and hoping to blow off some steam in a safe, positive way, I was left very distressed, and made to look like some fool (the pink case) or criminal (everyone reaching for their firearms). Heaven forbid someone bring a firearm into a shooting range.Do not support this establishment as they do not uphold the values that we, as shooting enthusiasts should all strive to.
Great gun selection. Rentals vary enough to make a decision to purchase. Good crew that is knowledgeable and trained to handle the operation.
We had review that questioned our dedication to our mission of “Safety and Education.” We want our customers to feel safe at the range. We feel we must explain what happened and why we are so insistent on our customers following our range rules that advocate firearm safety.A patron brought a loaded gun into the store, which you all know goes against our main rule of only allowing guns into the store that are cased and unloaded with the action open. This rule is posted prominently on both doors as you enter the range. The admonition was blatantly ignored by this patron. He brought in his gun with the magazine loaded. During the disarming of the gun, an accidental discharge took place. At all times the firearm was pointed in a safe direction and no patrons were in danger. This was a slam-fire incident from a 100 year old gun. Accidents can happen. We stand by our motto, “Safety and Education,” and we hope everyone learns from this. Rules need to be followed and we will continue to enforce our range rules to the best of our ability. Please help us in that regard.Faith and Tim
Have been to Tims quite a few times since they opened. I am relatively new to the shooting world, and the help that Tim and his employees have offered has been great. I started using the indoor range and have purchased a few firearms from them. It doesnt bother me that I need to buy their ammo (or have my ammo checked)...this is an INDOOR GUN RANGE...I want it to be as safe as possible (and am a bit worried by the reviewers that have a problem with this policy)! Thanks for providing a local gun shop where I can speak with the owner, and a first class indoor range!
Very nice new shooting range. Must view a safety video the first time you shoot. Thats a good thing. Convenient for me as I live in Westfield. High priced rental charge @ $22 an hour. They NICKLE and DIME you, as you must buy their targets. Point Blank Range is opening a store/range in Carmel in early 2015. Im sure they will give Tims a run for the money. Im looking forward to the competition.
Ive been purchasing firearms and using the range for over a year now at Tims and Ive never had a bad experience. Ive gotten to know quite a few of the staff members and always enjoy stopping in to see whats new and chatting a bit. Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional - Tims is always my first stop when looking for a new gun.
I am a visitor from Britain who wanted to experience one of Americas greatest freedoms that we lack, the use of firearms. Another range told me that I couldnt use their facilities and refered me here. I was delighted that they did. The staff where incredibly helpful, the facilities where Great, the selection of rentable weapons was very good, and the price was very reasonable. I can not recommend this place high enough. They where brilliant. Will definitely visit again.
I had a rather unusual experience in there today. I recently heard about this place and decided to check it out. While there, the place seemed nice and clean. Prices and selection were moderate but fair, and the range seemed clean (from what I could see from the door window). While I was there, however, the most unusual thing happened that I still cant believe. On my way out of the shop, I heard a loud BANG! Not from the range but from a side office. The clerk called out to the owner who was in the office to ask if he was okay. At this point I knew something bad had happened. The owner, Tim, came out from the office clinching his hand and said that he had shot himself in the hand!!! The owner! I have no idea how it happened, or why it happened - I left right away, I was in shock (as was everyone else there), and didnt want to be in the way of the paramedics which were called in by the clerk. I truly hope that he is okay, but I am surprised this happened at a place that prides itself on safety!!! I am happy the firearm was not facing the wall of the office which would have sent the bullet flying into the sales space where there were shoppers!
Focus on safety, friendly staff, great training classes. Can’t ask for much more in a range!
Tim and his staff are first rate all the way down the line. From safety to purchasing they are outstanding. Highly recommended in all aspects of this sport of ours.
Very nice indoor range. I wore over the ear protection and it was so loud i went back to the main store to buy some in ear protection to add as well. The in ear protection was only $1 and adding that made the noise much more tolderable. Great air circulation, not alot of gunpowder smell. Range officer gave some helpful tips. Staff behind the counter was great to work with. Tim should give his entire staff a raise! Will return again.
Great indoor shooting range. Clean. Friendly staff. I’m from Anderson, but they might be getting more of my business now!
Its a nice gun range that has a high level of safety. The range officer is very observant to everyone that is shooting. I like being able to concentrate on shooting and not worry about the person next me.
Friendly staff. Knew what I was looking for. Will be back to shoot.
Great quality range. Inexpensive and affordable prices for rentals and ammunitionNeeds a larger variety of different targets to shoot though.Bring your own hearing and eye protection.
Very professional and friendly. Great deals on new and used. Will be returning for sure. Thankyou for taking time to answer questions.
Wow, I really enjoy visiting Tims. The folks there are the best. Ive been shooting the Glock league there and it is ran top notch. Josh is so personal and quick to answer my questions. They have never been pushy or difficult. This is one of the best ranges and gun shops Ive visited. RSOs are the best. I strongly recommend Tims. Good job guys!!
Great little place. Very clean and knowledgeable. Had a great experience.
The staff are friendly and inviting and have great care about the safety of everyone there. The prices are reasonable and my son and I had a good time!
Westfield Gun Range is clean and very safe. The employee’s are friendly and very customer oriented. I will definitely bring the family to send some rounds down range.
Night staff are rude and mouthy. They will make fun of shooters to their faces. They are egotistical, and lack customer service skills. Day staff is very friendly. I dont believe I will go back after tonight.
Very nice, clean, new facility. They were very accommodating and helpful both in the store and on the range. I will definitely be back!
Very friendly, informative staff. Great ventilation and well lit range. Always have a great experience at tims. I drive a half hour to get to this range because every other place Ive been has been terrible. This is the only range in Indy Ill be going to again. Thanx for all the help guys.
These guys are always friendly and helpful. The range is very well run. Safety is very important there. Im glad I found it.
I love Tims!! Everyone there is friendly and are very keen on gun safety! Amazing place!!
Good range with moderate selection of guns. My only problem is that I cant use my cheap steel core ammo at their establishment.
Great place . Friendly staff always helpful. Safe range that is well maintained.
As a new gun enthusiast I love the fact they are safety orient and extremely help with all aspects of responsible gun ownership and use
Great helpful people. Modern comfortable range. Easy in, easy out.
Took the beginners gun safety class and it was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Instructor was Dee Bennett and she numbed it own to our level. Looking forward to taking our gun experience to the next level!
The range is pretty standard with a very strong emphasis on safety; too strong. My complaint is in order to reload magazines you must load them in a very small compact space and have the ammo stored below you on a plastic stool. This wouldnt be so terrible if you had one or two guys to shoot I guess. I also brought a friend along to the range and was unable to hand him my gun, unloaded, for him to shoot. He had to physically move to my lane and so did I so he could shoot. The prices for guns seem to be on par with most mom and pop stores however their trade in value on your weapon is simply insulating. 2 quotes I received Ruger LCP 90%+ $100; they were selling the same gun for over $300. Colt Defender .45 $300-$400 85% they were selling the 9mm version for over $1000.00 and its a less desirable weapon. All in all I will not be buying or trading with Tims until they understand used gun values are not that of a used car. Really disappointed because I buy several guns a year and was hoping this would be my one stop shop. I dont mind paying higher prices to keep the smaller guys in business; but please dont insult my intelligence buy offering me
Excellent range, the staff members are beyond helpful and very nice guys. The range and shop are well kept, and fees are reasonable.
Really sweet gun shop knowledgeable staff, very friendly great selection!
Went to Tims a few months ago so I could fire a few weapons including my AR-15. I called before driving the 45 minutes from my house to Tims to confirm I could indeed fire my AR on their range. While on the phone I asked about pricing and fees..Upon arrival I watch their 10 minute rage safety video. Then filled out the required liability form.At this point I was asked what type calibers I would be firing on the rage. I showed them my PMC FMJ 5.56 rounds, .40 rounds, and .380 rounds.I was then told due to my AR being a military style weapon... I had to purchase all ammo for it from them to fire it on their range. It would have been really nice to know this before wasting 1.5 hours of driving time. The only reason I drove there was to fire the AR indoors. When people call asking about shooting an AR you should be upfront with them about all fees involved. Due to this I will not return and have not recommended to anyone.
Knowledgeable staff took very good care of me.
Excellent customer service and very friendly staff. Excellent selection of firearms.
Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Good place to shoot.
Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Lots of egos from employees. Not very clean. Not clear on their closing times. We were set up and shooting at 8:20 pm and they told us to pack it up because they needed 30 minutes to clean the lanes! No explanation, refund or credit. Never going back. Too many other places to go.
Very nice shooting range. The workers are helpful and nice. Great place!
Terrific service. Guys are very personable.
Good prices, knowledgeable staff, great indoor range.
Out of towner, I stumbled across this place and WOW! Great range, KILLER prices, not a bunch of crap. Had high end ar parts in stock and a great selection of hand guns. Ended up buying a spikes ar for the best price Ive seen assembled. Thanks guys, I stared you on maps and will most definitely come shoot there next time Im around.
Great price, great facility, and friendly staff my 1st and last shooting range for life!
Shot the G.S.S.F.match there today,great people,great facility.
Had an overall very good experience at Tims on Sunday. We were a bit of a larger group, so it was a little chaotic in the beginning, but thats to be expected. One thing I was very impressed with is the attention paid to safety procedures. Upon arrival, you and your party will be required to fill out a standard waiver form, and before proceeding into the range, you must watch a 10 minute safety video. Now, admittedly, at first I was skeptical, but this was actually a very positive thing, since we had some noobies in the group...I really feel like they greatly benefited from the video. Its a great facility, very clean, nice, and professional. Most of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and had a smile on their face (there was one crabby guy, but cmon, every place has that right? Ha ha).The range officers were helpful, and more than willing to make suggestions if needed. I would say that if you are someone who has a lot of experience with firearms, try not to be offended if they approach you...the place is called Tims Shooting Academy, not Tims Free-For-All or Tims Shoot-em-up-and-let-em-rip. Catch my drift? They will let you have at em, but it appears they are positioning themselves as also an educational facility, so try to keep that in mind. Also, bring your own targets, hearing protection, and eye protection. If you wear glasses youre good to go. They do only charge $4 for safety glasses, so that wasnt too bad, but if you have your own, you can avoid this extra charge. The only downside is that they are on the higher-end, price wise. $33 per lane with two people. $5 per extra person. This isnt terrible, but it is more expensive than other ranges in the greater Indy area. For 2 lanes, 5 people, 3 glasses, and 2 paper targets it was $83.Overall I will go back, and I would say feel free to visit them sometime and look forward to a great experience!
Very friendly staff. Knowledgeable about their weapons.
RESTRICTIVE, EXPENSIVE, MANIPULATIVE . If you really want to shoot and test different rifle ammo YOU CAN NOT do so here. REAL SHOOTERS GO ELSEWHERE. They do not allow you to use your own rifle ammo. They MANDATE that you use their rifle ammo. Pistol ammo is ok JUST NO STEEL CASE TRAINING AMMO LOL.Do not waste your time here. There are other places to shoot. Tims shooting academy does not PROTECT the 2nd amendment they MANIPULATE off the grounds of safety for their own benefit and profit so they can sell you their expensive and poor quality ammo.Plus your range bags basically gets stopped & frisked searched just prior to being let into the range.Lastly, you must watch a 15 minute safety video every time you arrive if you DO NOT have your card with you. Waste of time if you actually are a trained civilian. The same people that should be protecting the 2nd amendment are the same people that are manipulating it to line their own pockets. CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE.
I have been to this shooting range about six times and myself and others feel disappointed. Tims Shooting Academy does not strive for customer service. If anything going to Tims fills me with anger and anxiety because something about the experience will bother me. I do not want to go to this range anymore. I would rather drive a hour and forty-five minutes to the Atterbury range than go here again.I brought in my own ammo the first time when they started to allow it and I was told by an employee that even though I brought in my own ammo and they checked it I would still need to buy their ammo. They then began to make me feel like the bad guy because some guy brought in bad ammo and they had to pay tens of thousands of dollars to fix their traps. They said that if this happens I would have to pay for it. This is my fault why?Everything in this store has a price tag from hearing protection to eye wear. It is very easy to spend over $100 in an hour. The last time I was there an associate was trying to sell me something that I wasnt even interested in without first asking me questions about what I would be looking for. He showed me a gun that on hells green earth I wouldnt buy. On the same day we told an associate that we had a coupon that would take $5 off of our range time. The associate told us that we needed to wait until after we finished shooting. When we did, we forgot to give them the coupon and they told us they could not give us $5 because the transaction was already completed. This does not make sense, a customer can come in and return something, but cannot get $5 from a coupon. We also had unused paper targets they they would not let us return, but instead said that we had to keep them if we wanted to use them next time. This is ridiculous! On another occasion we were told we needed to wait 1/2 hour before we could use a range. So my friend went home and picked up some hearing protection before coming back. As my friend was gone, I had to give away our lane because we were not using it. When my friend came back, we were told that we needed to wait again. When we finally went to our lane every single rifle lane was available. I asked the employee if he was able to give us something for the un-needed wait time and he told us that it was them that were waiting on us not the other way around. This was the same day that there was problems with construction. When I brought it up I was told that it was my fault because I did not check their Facebook page. Sure that has nothing to do with Tims but this didnt help make my day any better. Also, can someone fix the curb by this business? Nothing feels better then leaving Tims upset and then damaging the underside of your vehicle. Here are some of my ideas to help improve Tims. Have a clear return policy. People want to get to know the employees. Wear name tags so we can remember who you are. Have management there who can handle issues when they arise. Have another way to review this business instead of having to review on Google. What if you got a tablet at the store that people could review your business? Let the customer know how much everything will be before they finish shooting. Treat customers with respect. Instead of saying, Hey dont do that! Try saying I noticed you did that, but here is a different way that can keep yourself and other safe. Create a mobile app that told people about wait times and when lanes would open up. Give members the option of posting their targets to your website or through social media with a Tims hashtag. Create friendly competitions with the customers of all skill sets to get them to your range. Have a system with the employees that explains to them how they should handle difference situations ( have weekly meetings with ALL the employees to talk about what is going well and what needs improvement and how Tims can handle these situations ). Make this more than just a job for your employees but a fun and exciting place to work.
Some of the best people on the planet work at Tims.
Visited Tims for the first time 17 August 2014. Negotiating the traffic circles and construction took a bit of doing. The staff was prompt in getting to us. We viewed a 10 minute safety video - which is a good idea. Spend a good amount of time teaching my GF how to shoot handguns. Then, I wanted to shoot my Mini-14, and had brought my own ammo - Silver Bear .223. Alas, I was told that I must shoot their ammo, which was $20 for 20 rounds! As my GF had her heart set on shooting the rifle, I relented, and purchased two boxes for $40 bucks. Later, I had asked them if I could purchase the same brand, Independence .223, but was told no, that they dont do that. In other words, I had to purchase their ammo. I had kept the box, and was very annoyed to see that they spent $9.95 for that box of ammo! I can understand that they didnt want people shooting steel core/armor piercing ammo in their rifle range, but I simply cannot abide gouging a customer. That simple act changed my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. I just looked at Midway USA, and they are selling Independence .223 for $9.99 a box of 20 rounds, or $245.99 for 500 rounds. So, Tims has a 100% markup on their .223 ammo. BTW, the ammo I had brought with me was Silver Bear Bimetal FMJ, it was NOT steel core or armor piercing.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful. It is worth to drive here for 40 minutes every time.
Great place to go with the boys!
Great staff. Very helpful with recommendations.
Great Range & Friendly Staff
Really nice. They helped me range an ar-10 and were responsive to emails.
Top notch. Clean, SAFE, well run range.
Clean facility. Awesome staff.
5 Stars! Excited to have an indoor range open on the North side!!!!
Best ffl in the area, by far.
Great place to shoot!
Great bunch of guys to deal with
Everyone at Tims Shooting Academy is so nice.
Great place!!
Friendly staff and very patient with new shooters
Great facility.
I have nothing but good things to say about Tims, from the owner to all the people that works there I have always received great service. My family and I have purchased several firearms from them.
Very friendly and professional.
