What a fabulous challenging and versatile course. Best customer service too. And beautiful place for baby showers and dance parties and weddings. If that happens again. Thank you for being a safe place for covid golfing.
Nice place to visit that has outdoor dining you could take advantage of during the warm weather. Never golfed here but know people who have and they like the spot.
Greens are nice, but that is it. Fairways are mostly sand with crab grass, sides are blown grass, so if your ball is skating along the fairway because it is dry as hell, and it hits the boundary, forget it. Its lost. Wont be back.
Friendly staff, great quality carts, course in good condition, affordable food prices. Had a great time!
Do not play golf here if you can avoid. The golf pro is completely incompetent and refused to help anyone out. Absolutely the worst golf experience, EVER.
This course is a dog patch. Tee boxes are beat up. No fairway grass. Maybe crabgrass. Most of the greens are in good shape.
The course itself is in rough shape. Burnt grass is kind of expected this time of the year, but bare ground on both fairways and greens shouldnt be. Folks were friendly and the price is nice, but the course is a wreck.
I was a guest for a wedding on 9/19/19 and I was disappointed with the service. There was no follow through, mimosas didn’t taste like mimosas just orange juice, the bride didn’t have any privacy while getting dressed, and every time I asked for assistance Nancy was very rude. Nancy did a great job Making sure the bride was miserable on her wedding day.Holly (The manager) first agreed on giving us the venue all day to then being 5 hours. We were excited about having the venue all day because the bride had guests traveling from different part of the country. A few months after placing the deposit the bride was told she only has 5 hours and she can pay for additional hours.Originally, we were told we could clean up the next morning. The day of the wedding we were immediate rushed to clean up because supposedly another wedding party was arriving to set up. How can a bride enjoy her wedding day when she’s constantly reminded to pick up on her wedding day? When we were told to come back Friday morning to clean up. So we cleaned up stayed in the venue until 830-9pm to then realize the bridal party for a Saturday wedding did not arrive to set up. Very inconsiderate. I will not recommend this venue.
Very good value. Paid only $16 for Sr. Week day walking 9.
Decent local course. Could use more upkeep but good for the price
Dinner was great last night good pricing
These guys and gals are great. Sorry not to see more people there but maybe I just lucked out when picking times. Took my grandson there twice and they were great to give a few pointers. Keep up good work!!
Great area and big course
Decent shape cant beat the price
Everything is beautiful for activities
Sincerely disappointed with the customer service @ Shaker Farms Country Club. I booked this venue in December 2018 to celebrate my wedding on September 19, 2019. Throughout the process, my husband and I were in communication with both Nancy & Holly. From the beginning and the middle of the process we were told “yes” to executing any ideas we mentioned, in fact, Shaker Farms flexibility and accommodations is why we cancelled our initial venue, even after putting down a deposit with them. Everything was sweet & exciting until two weeks before the wedding, which is really sickening given that this is the most pressured & stressful time of wedding planning. This is when we were told “no” you cannot do this, even after we were told yes and had already mentioned the specific information to our guest or mentioned it on our wedding website. Please be very careful with not putting anything and everything in writing, even if you think it’s minor! Specifically, whenever speaking to either Nancy or Holly, please send out an email or do whatever you have to do to have it in writing, because again, one will tell you yes, it’s possible and towards the final stages the other will tell you no, it’s not possible. Which is extremely unfair and lacks communication and proper guidance. They will mess up your wedding day vision like they did to us. Furthermore, Nancy’s professionalism truly shocked me hours before wedding, she had raised her voice at me, pointed her fingers in my mother’s face, in addition to yelling at my mother in front of other golfer’s and my family & friends while setting up for the big day. Her behavior was extremely threatening to the point my friend had to start recording Nancy because she felt threatened for all of us. Yes, there is footage of this. Sadly, we cannot make this stuff up. As a professional, how do you feel so comfortable in yelling at the Bride and her loved ones 8 hours before her wedding day? Until this day, Shaker Farms Country Club is the only one of our vendors who has not followed up with us after our big day! Not even an apology! Every other vendor has reached out and thanked us for allowing them to service our Big Day. Also, my Husband and I had a in-person meeting with Nancy & Holly to finalize wedding details in which the phone rang and a male staff answered the phone. Once the male staff notified Nancy & Holly who it was, they both were signaling and whispering to the male staff so that the male staff could tell the caller, “Nancy/Holly were not in yet. May I please take a call back number”. I could not believe they would do something like that in front of us, their clients, which in turn, made me think about all the times we called and were told “Nancy/Holly are not in yet. Can you try calling again later?” Lastly, a few of my guests mentioned how Nancy had an attitude towards them the day of the wedding whenever they asked/mentioned something, one example: a request for a clean plate. I’m just truly in disgust and will not recommend this venue to anyone. If you do decide to move forward with Shaker Farms for any special event, please be cautious. These are special lifetime events you cannot get back and I will never forget how Shaker Farms Country Club treated me, my husband, my mother, and my guests.
Lovely layout, but the course is in rough shape.. 1/2 of the greens are quite damaged, and the tee boxes and fairways are covered in crab grass. I really want to like this course, but the tough conditions are dragging it down.
Nice course and open on the public!!
Pops is the only reason Ill ever go to shaker farms he is the man! Great golf player, worker, person, you name it hes got it going on and he is the sole reason I play every round of golf at this beautiful establishment and it he were to ever leave i will too.
If I can rate half a star I would. I attended a wedding on 9/19/19 and was not pleased with the staff of shakers. This place lacks professionalism and failed to deliver 5 star quality service to the bride as expected. False advertisement is basically the bottom line.
Halloween party Saturday night with family, friends and great dancing music with 91South
Staff very nice, course is good, had a great round of golf on a beautiful Sunday
I helped with a wedding here on 9/19/19.I was actually shocked at the lack of communication and customer service provided by the event managers.I understand that venues are contract binding and Shaker Farms CC is running a business. However, I imagined that because they have been around as long as they have plus the fact that I’m sure they have hosted PLENTY of weddings over the years, that they would ACT like the professional experts that were hired by my friend.Amongst many other things, my biggest frustration as an event designer was the decor dispute and how it was handled:We were told we could set up the day before the wedding, so we show up.The banquet hall has an overbearing amount of decorations in the entry way (the first thing that guest will see as they walk in) and throughout the venue that completely clashed with my friends theme for HER wedding which she paid for.As we begin to decorate, we gently removed the decorations and put them aside.Despite telling my friend and her mother that these things could be removed in earlier conversations, Nancy, the owner/manager, storms into the venue 12 hours before the wedding, while we’re all setting up, and yells “ WHAT DID YOU DO? YOU CAN’T TAKE DOWN THE DECORATIONS! I HAVE A WEDDING HERE THIS WEEKEND!”....You have a wedding this weekend? You have a wedding tomorrow and you’re yelling at your bride?Nancy literally stormed in like a child screaming at us, pointing her fingers in the brides face as well as her own mother! 12 hours before her wedding! All we kept repeating in shock was “Are you serious? Are you kidding me?” There were golf members in the bar that heard everything and looked on in horror as well as our own set-up crew. Not to mention, Nancy became so verbally aggressive that A couple of friends took their phones and began recording her tantrum.Nancy said she had a wedding the upcoming weekend and the decorations were up for that wedding. I can not believe that the owner of a wedding venue would decorate a hall for a wedding that is happening days after another wedding. I would understand if my friend booked this venue recently and was added to the schedule last minute but that was not the case. My friend had Shaker Farms CC booked since December 2018.The banquet hall should have been bare of any and all decorations so that the bride could bring her vision to life on her special day. Instead, we did the extra work of having to take things down. We should’ve been the ones throwing the tantrum! In fact, my friend even canceled another venue because Shaker Farms CC assured her of how seriously they took their events, how flexible they would be and how they would make sure to make her day perfect. The event managers managed to do the opposite of all of those things. Not to mention, a lot of decorating was needed to off balance the outdated venue. Every member who walked by as we set up could not stop saying how beautiful everything was coming along and how they had never seen anything like it at that hall.If you take your wedding serious, do yourself a favor and book your special day elsewhere. I am livid at the way she screamed at my friend the night before her wedding. Wedding planning is already stressful in itself and my friend is tough, but somehow Nancy still managed to make her cry on the night before her wedding to the point that we wished we had a backup plan to cancel the wedding at Shaker Farm. The day of the wedding, we received further complaints from guest regarding clean silverware and attitudes from some staff to say the least.I will mention that there were about 3 staff members(kitchen staff and a bartender) the night we set up that were extremely sweet, professional and accommodating. They could probably teach their managers a thing or two about customer service.
I attended my friends wedding here on 9/19/19 and I can say that we didn’t receive the best service here. For starters, when it came to the logistics of the wedding there were things that were promised to the bride that was later denied as far as the night before her big day which was a huge misfortune for the party involved. I witnessed the owner agree to some of the requests the bride presented to be later on rejected.Additionally, on the day of the wedding guests were being mistreated by the staff and the owner included. For example, When transitioning to the reception Myself and others felt like we were being rushed by the owner while she was clapping her hands and saying the exact words “c’mon let’s go” which I felt was very rude!!!Overall there were a handful of things that happened that I felt was very unprofessional on the venues end for example, the guests were being served dirty glasses and plates, The Bartender threw my aunts debit card back at and those are just a few to name. I would not recommend using this venue for any event because the owner and her staff were misleading and unprofessional.
This place is great. Its fancy looking on the inside. The staff is really nice. The food was excellent. Its definitely a great choice for an event such as a birthday party.
Attended a friends wedding here, was a wonderful location, and great service throughout the evening
The course is in great shape, and Eric is the man!!
This used to be one of the premier courses in the area. Played in August 18 and it was in pretty rough shape. The 6th green was about 90% dirt. Still a nice layout and the staff were very friendly. The rate charged was very reasonable.
I played Shaker Farms with the Safari Club this week and the experience was most enjoyable. The staff is warm and welcoming with coffee in the pro shop. The course is in good shape and has many interesting twists and turns to challenge every player. The food buffet was reasonably priced and had delicious entrees. The course abounds with wildlife and wonderful birds.
Great brunches every time I visit, nice flat coarse too
I love this place! The course is beautiful, varied and well maintained. It is open very early in the season and stays open when other courses have packed it in. The owners are friendly and very welcoming. Just wish i didnt have to drive over an hour to get here! Give this course a try, Im sure youll be glad you did.
Good value. But you get what you pay for. Greens were HORRIBLE!
Great place . greens are good now
It was so much fun what a great evening will definitely be back ! Thank you Nancy
My club and proud. Course continues to improve. Such natural beauty. Great staff headed by golf pro Eric Nelson. Now new carts .... cant wait to play another round. Thank you owners Nancy and Dan!
Terrible terrible terrible service!!I had my wedding reception at Shaker farms and it was horrific service. Meeting with the wedding coordinator before hand i was promised everything would be taken care. During one of our many meetings we mentioned how we wanted the room to be cool the day of our wedding. We were assured that they had a brand new AC unit and the room would be to our liking. Well the day of our wedding came and it was 95 degress out. By the time we got to the reception hall they had never even turned the AC on!!! All of my guests were sweating. We had to keep opening doors just for a breeze. Our DJ also complained to them that they needed to do something about the heat and they did NOTHING!!! The bartender was super rude to my wedding party and the groom. Half of the the guests got their food right away and then the other half had to wait 45 MINUTES!!! Please do not be fooled by their nice staff. Everything we were promised fell through and it put a huge damper on my wedding day.
Over all a challenging course beat up greens very wet still had a good time
Excellent setting for a fun and relaxing music while enjoying a fantastic fish fry.
Course was taken over by new owners who have put a lot of money into it apparently. I had never played before this year, but unlike prior reviews conditions were great. Great tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Course also had a great layout, have been back multiple times since. Reasonable fees. Keep up the good work!
The tee boxes are nothing, fairways are decent, but burned up in spots. The greens are good. The course is not in that good of shape. For what you pay, it should be better than this. Go elsewhere is my review of this place.
Went 2 a function. Very nice.. Aestetically pleasing. Great acustics.Food was good. Their deck is also a nice place 2 hang and look at the beautiful scenery. If i golfrd i could tell u about the course
Had a great time !
I golf here every week. Course keeps getting better.
Good local country club. Great for 9 or 18.
Great customer service, and the place is very well maintained.
Not sure what golf course the two raters a bit below played at, Ive been golfing here for about a decade. And while yes the course wasnt always in the greatest shape the management has been doing a lot to improve it. It however has never been as bad as the first two make it seem, remember this is NOT a TPC course and you should not be expecting a tour quality course.
Nice place to eat and have a Function their weapons whatever you need they have
While some fairways are in rough shape, most of the greens (on the front 9) are in pretty rough shape.
Its a nice place to golf and its close
They did a great job with my sons wedding.
Played golf tournament there and it has to be one of the worst courses I have ever played on. The greens were torched, fairways were in rough shape, tee boxes on some holes almost unrecognizable. Got four free passes and needless to say I wont be using them.
Great round of golf and awesome bartenders!!!
Went there for the breakfast buffet. The best breakfast buffet in Westfield!
Tee boxes and greens are in horrible shape. Theres no rough because its all crab grass
I played at Shaker Farms for the first time today and it was not in good condition at all. The greens are very sad and the fairways were not much better.Bunkers were hard and the tee boxes were horrible. I will not be back there unless improvements are made.
Great layout best in western mass!!
Extremely difficult for disabled individuals to get in
Food is great, and people are extremely friendly
