Such a relaxing place. I sat by the water and admired the scenery. As I lost track of time with the beautiful landscaping as the sun went down, I walked my way to the indoor jacuzzi.Only capacity was for four people and that was perfect. I relaxed and noticed that it was 9pm. I walked my way to the Bistro, and they were closing at 10pm. They allowed me in and took my order with no problem.I would definitely recommend this resort for leisure or any future events.
Waters Edge has been an outstanding vendor during the wedding planning process. Even during COVID when our original plans changed, they were very accommodating. Shelby (our wedding coordinator) has been so easy to work with and is super responsive to our questions. We held our micro-wedding at the resort this year with immediate family and cannot wait to go back next year for the reception! 10/10 recommend Waters Edge for your wedding destination!
Waters Edge has long been one of the premiere waterfront hotels/resorts in Connecticut. The sandy beach with a southern exposure, accompanied with both an indoor and outdoor pool, creates a great vacation escape for anyone looking to get away. While I cannot speak to it personally, the spa offers great amenities as well. The restaurant offers excellent breakfast - the Eggs Benedict was amazing - and I am sure all the other food is great too. My only qualm would be the abundance of trash in the hallways (that was there for 24+ hours); the housekeepers arent at fault, but someone should be on trash duty roaming the halls atleast semi frequently.
Our mid-week girls getaway was relaxing and fun. We secured a two queen water-view room with a balcony which was ideal to be able to enjoy the view without the noise of families and young children. The room and facilities were clean and the staff were accommodating. We highly advise Sunset Grille for casual convenient dining, avoid room service and visit Cafe Routier for a quality dining experience.
Positive: Great place. Second time there. Will def be back. Negative: Nope.
We held a 2-day work conference here and it was fantastic! The service was great - Megan was super helpful when I was booking the event all the way up until the event & Maureen took care of us throughout the whole event. Everyone was very pleasant, the view was beautiful and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!
Positive: The location was spot on. The food was also delicious. Hotel employee at the front desk was more than accommodating. Negative: No
Due to Covid, my husband and I decided to stay local for our honeymoon and decided to stay here. The staff at the front desk was very nice, but when we got to our room it was downhill from there. We went into the bathroom and the tissue box was never replaced and due to current circumstances that doesn’t seem very sanitary seeing the last guest used those same tissues, the bed didnt even look made and the balcony had two chairs that were very rusted and the balcony itself looked like it was falling in the middle, and we were afraid to even sit out there. Needless to say we checked out immediately and ended up going somewhere else for the rest of the week.
Rooms are basic, looked nice in the photos but were more 3-star than luxurious. We reserved a suite and each room had an in-wall AC, like a motel (and similarly loud / annoying), and our balcony / windows looked out over 5 more AC units for other rooms. The decor otherwise was basic, the TVs were old / barely functional & the shower had limited water preasure. Outside of the room, the hotel was much better. The beach, pool, restaurants and grounds were well-kept and peaceful. We ate at every restaurant and the food was nice every time. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if they had a map of the property. Once we found our room, we had no idea where the beach was, if they had a pool, where the restaurants were, etc.
We were fortunate enough to not only have our wedding at Waters Edge Resort and Spa but to have Shelby as our coordinator. The scenery cannot be found anywhere locally and the service cannot be matched. We felt like a King and Queen on our Wedding Day and it was all because of the staff and particularly Shelby! Whether you are looking for a short weekend getaway, overnight stay, vacation or extended stay the Waters Edge team will have you covered!
We went to Water’s Edge for our mini-moon after our small wedding ceremony (we had to change our wedding plans due to the pandemic). We had very mixed feelings about our experience at the resort. The room was nice (and large) but nothing special. Some of the staff members were great, especially the servers Jordan and Sebastian, and Josh at the front desk. However, we were disappointed in some other aspects of the resort. Some of the other staff members were not very polite or welcoming. In addition, the beach was definitely falsely advertised on the website. The ocean is beautiful, but the beach is tiny. We were there in October, so it wasn’t beach weather anyway, but it would have been nice to be able to take a walk on the beach for longer than one minute. The food at the restaurants was good, but not great. Also, we were excited to have a water-view room. However, due to the many hotel buildings blocking the view, our view of the water was disappointing. The only good views are from a few rooms that are right on the water. Overall, we had a great mini-moon thanks to the activities we did in the area, as the resort itself was just ok.
End of summer weekend with the family. Hear such great things about this place from others. We had an ok time here.My take is that it’s extremely over priced. Rooms without a view of the water still come with a premium price. There isn’t much space on the private beach to accommodate a lot of people. You’re really confined to stay in your chairs or go in the water.Restaurant options are ok. Sunset Bar and Grill. Service was ok. Others were waited on before us even as we were clearly still waiting for water. Lobster roll, swordfish we’re ok. Mac and Cheese with bacon was the more exciting dish.Great having an indoor pool. Kids loved that.Coffee and pastry bar options for breakfast was ok. No fruit cups on day 1. Expired. Cinnamon pound cake was not cinnamon pound cake. Kids were quite disappointed. More of a star anise cake. Croissants and Cinnamon twists were great. (Those were cinnamon!)Everyone was really good about having their masks on which was a relief.
Love it here!!!
It started with a very unfriendly woman at check in. Room was ready when should have been. The very expensive room was average at best. The water view deck was obstructed by a pointed roof from below our deck. The deck furniture was kinda nasty along with the weeds growing through the deck. We ate dinner at sunset grill outdoors. We met a very unfriendly hostess. And then we had a very unfriendly waitress who took 35 min just to bring our drinks. We had our appetizer delivered and eaten before our first drink. Day 2 was a little better. Morning waiter was very good and the beach staff was very friendly. The outdoor grounds are nice and the beach is very relaxing with a beautiful view and the pool next to the beach is great. Overall, very over priced for the room and service.IMG_0403.HEIC
Stayed here for 1 night to get away. Had an excellent dinner, a fantastic couples massage (separate rooms due to covid), and the room was perfect. Highly recommend!
During Covid 19, We were able to enjoy our family vacation. We had grandparents and aunts able to join us too. We stayed for 5 nights. We enjoyed the restaurants, spa and pretty rooms. It was our first time to the property. The beach and pools where a lot of fun. The beach’s low tide made the experience magical for our 5 year old.
This place is amazing! Saw 4 weddings in two days here, such a wonderful venue to start married life and share with your friends and family. Staff is so welcoming and so friendly.
Waters Edge is a lovely resort on the water in Westbrook, Ct. However for all the money they take in its time to put some out. For instance the steps and floorboard outside condo #722 is actually falling apart. Actually dangerous. With the amount of traffic at this resort and what they charge it needs work. The bathroom near beach area needs renovation and several other spots. A successful business must put the money into keeping it up. Otherwise a lovely place.
Everything was great except when we arrived our room wasn’t ready until 4:00, checkin time was 3:00! They did give us 2 drink vouchers to makeup for the inconvenience! I was not a fan of the beach! The area was not very big & the chairs did not seem socially distanced so we spent most of our time at the pool which was great!
Way overpriced, no amenities, old and shabby room, one uncomfortable chair, balcony unusable because it has no roof and it was raining. The room was comparable to a no tell motel....seriously. All we wanted was to get away for a couple nights and relax in our room and watch movies. To our dismay, no premium channels or on demand available. Really? Its 2020 people. We booked a two night stay and left after the first night. So disappointed and a big dent to the pocketbook for little return.
Wonderful resort I came here for work related seminar. It was absolutely amazing here. The accommodations are clean, elegant and comfortable. One of best nights sleep I have had on the road in years. The restaurant and bar are fabulous. The beach is so wonderful and clean. You can clearly see Long Island, NY from there. I asked about rates and for the room I stayed in was $170 to $270 a night. I will be coming back here for a day or two with my wife for sure.
Very courteous staff. Resort was very clean. All of the restaurants and lounges were above average. We particularly loved the beach and pool area. Would definitely recommend Waters Edge for any couple looking for an excellent weekend or midweek stay.
Everything on the grounds looked pretty good, except the hotel rooms in the main building; they werent in the best shape. My first night was ok, I checked in and went down a creaky hallway to my room and got settled in. The room and 2 areas with windows, one small window had a view of an AC unit and the roof of the vallet area and the other bigger window was so hazy that I couldnt see out of it. It wasnt weather haze or fog, turns out the window was so old and unmaintained that the seal broke and the gas between the 2 panes hazed up.Next day, I went to use the shower and the handle was so broken that I was lucky to get the water to come on. The shower head was in definite need of replacement and the bathroom was really small and outdated. I returned that night from a cold Connecticut fall and the room temp was 70, so I kicked on the heat. About 20 minutes later I realized that the room was colder than it was when I came in, the room temp was now 67 and dropping. I double checked to make sure I set the thermostat to 74 with heat but the vents were blowing really cold air. At this point it was 12:30am so I asked the front desk to have someone come fix it or relocate me; they relocated me to another room. After moving all of my stuff to a new room in the middle of the night, I finally got a room with working heat, a normal sized bathroom, and a clear view of the parking lot.The next morning, I go to use the shower and this handle was so broken that it just kept turning with no indication of hot or cold and no stopping point. I was able to spin it to a point where I could get warm water from yet another old, low pressure shower head. I also didnt dare put my shampoo on the shelf in the shower because it was glued on to the wall and the glue was barely holding onto the shelf. Also in this second room, the fridge was broken to where the door could only open a few inches before it would scrape the carpet and require force to fully open. There were scrape marks on the carpet, so this was happening for a while; something that should have been noticed by the staff and fixed.Upon check out, a few days later, I mentioned all of this to the girl at the desk and she didnt seem to care that my stay was less than satisfying and offer some kind of discount or refund for an overpriced room, nor did she take note of the issues to have them fixed. In speaking with another guest, they had similar issues and had to switch rooms because their room did not have hot water.Needless to say, this hotel is unmaintained, outdated, and overpriced. I dont think I would ever want to stay there again and would urge others to do their research and find another nearby hotel.
2 days in to a week stay and it leaves a lot to be desired. WiFi sux and is basically non existent in the room or basically anywhere you will spend a lot of time aka the beach. Speaking of which the the beach is pretty dirty, our first time there we were greeted by a diaper in the sand. Lets see how the next couple of days goes.I should note both of these issues have already been raised with staff, but in both cases nothing done, which appears to be a common thread through these reviews. Im sure there will be a response to this review from management, but its really kind of worthless unless acted on, and if you cant act on in person suggestions then it seems unlikely you would do it based on this.[Update]: I ended up speaking with a manager who assured me that the issue would be looked at and also offer a discount on our stay. Ultimately the resorts location is great with generally great staff, I hope they can fix the issues. Increasing to 3 stars based on their response.
Very nice place on the water. Wonderful restaurants. Nice pool.
Great views, rooms are a little run down. We had a leak in our roof. There is a small gym and sauna, as well as an indoor pool that’s nice in the winter. The place is decorated for the holidays! There are many nice restaurants in the area as well as two outlet stores for shopping close by.
I came here on a Tuesday night for an overnight turbo vacation with my boyfriend. While this is typically a very popular spot during the summer it is absolutely beautiful during the winter. The lights set up around the grounds and the holiday decorations inside are beautiful and make it impressive to drive/walk into. The room was clean and decorated nicely. They also had a bar and restaurant on site so we didnt have to leave the nice warm hotel!Overall a great visit and absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful place on the Connecticut shore of Long Island. Nice gym, pool, hot tub, and other spa facilities, and fun, live music at dinner in the lively restaurant. Enjoyable stay.
An impressive little resort tucked away off Rte 1 along the CT shoreline.
Always a good choice. Have been coming here for many years. Clean, friendly and great food at a good price. A slice of heaven only 2 hours away!
First off, the hotel seemed to be taking decent COVID precautions, so that was good. However, I would not stay here again. The rooms were rather dated. The TV had no internet options like Netflix or Hulu. There were only two accessible outlets in the room and the current seemed weak (my phone lost charge while plugged in). And worst of all, the septic tank was getting pumped while we were there so when we tried to enjoy our balcony with an ocean view we immediately had to go back inside because of the awful sewage smell. The tank was there from 9 am to past 11 am on a Friday morning, so if the seaside ambience is something youre looking for, call ahead to find out when the septic tank is getting pumped and avoid those dates.
Great place, but lacks the personal touch customer service. Ex:. 3 different servers for dinner, but none engaged us in conversation. It may be efficient, but it isnt very personal.
No respect for Customers And $$$$No ventilation in the RestroomYou will see old poor woman keep cleaning in men Restroom which is very EmbarrassingEspecially when men stand to pee while she still wiping the floor ?The waiter came and his clothes are dirty?Even he clothe are black color, you will notice the dirtinessIt’s better to check the water carefully before you drinkBecause you may see something ️in the glassOther than that nice place.....
Cute resort and spa in Connecticut on the Long Island Sound. The rooms or apartments are wonderful and the staff are extremely delightful. The restaurant used to be not that good but after a revamp it is delicious! I would 100% recommend the oysters! The drinks they serve are good and at a decent price. If you have time make sure during low tide make sure you walk over to the little island.
Great views and service.Food was delicious too. Would recommend to family and friends.
Planned to have my wedding at Waters Edge prior to COVID19. Ariana, the wedding event coordinator was INCREDIBLE. So sweet. Quick to respond to emails. Very attentive! Food at the tasting was amazing! The ownership, however, refused to allow us to consider anything less than 75 guests. They refused to consider letting us out of our contract when it became obvious it was unsafe and not recommended despite a clause in our contract stating so. We had to get an attorneys help in dealing with the matter. Tread carefully when working with Waters Edge. Beautiful spot but maybe not an organization whos ownership I want to support again. (Note: we did eventually get a full refund on our wedding).
This resort is amazing highly recommend it has salt water pools and ocean and amazing hotels even though it’s a little pricey it’s definitely worth the drive and money!
BEAUTIFUL WILL BE GOING BACK REAL SOON
Bloody Marys though requested extra spicy with horseradish was nothing special at all. We had brunch. Its was good but not as special as its reputation. It could be due to the challenges we all face because of covid. Some other diners were incredibly rude to wait staff.
Views and location are outstanding. Service is good. Food is sub-par at best. Prices match the view not the service or food quality.
Elegant, luxurious yet cozy. The courtyard has a breathtaking view of the sound. Brunch is a must; fireworks on the 4th of July is a favorite event.
Best time ever. We came and stayed in villas in august. Then came back again on Labor Day weekend
I went to Waters Edge Resort & Spa for Easter dinner with my family. My first time here. It was a buffet style dinner and the food was very good and there was plenty to choose from. Everything was prepared fresh and the different stations were a fancy extra in my opinion. The views were amazing and the resort was beautiful everywhere we went after the buffet style dinner. Overall I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay in the Weston area of CT. You will not be disappointed.
Went just for food and drinks. DJ was playing all my fave 90s hits, donell Jones, 112, new editions, etc. Why cut him off at 9pm tho? Jason B at the beach was awesome, dinner service was really good too. Didnt leave full after 100 dollar bill but still a good time for sure. Will go again.
Wow beautiful resort! Made a quick dinner n cocktail pitstop with friends that have a place there....hats off *great pizza n margaritas as well...wow sleepers
The views of this place is a amazing. The staff were very friendly as well as the guest. However, the rooms need to be updated my room smelled old. The decor was outdated and the people above me had children that sounded like they were coming through the floor. When they flushed their toilet you heard it.
Really nice resort. The rooms are nicely updated. Not super modern but very nice especially for the beach. The grounds are very well maintained and there is lots of grass and plants leading down tot eh small beach area. Very picturesque.
Waters Edge Resort was a great getaway! Clean rooms, clean facilities, great beach with ample seating, nice pool with ample seating, and several choices for meals! Will definitely be back!
Steve just called me back and offered a discount after seeing my review. Wish the right thing was done from the start, but happy it got resolved fairly.
Wonderful Sunday brunch! The food and the service were both top notch. And its an absolutely stunning location. Cant wait to visit again!
Positive: The sunset grill, location, scenery, and the outdoor pool. Negative: The hotel assures guests that mask wearing will be enforced. However, only about 50% of people were wearing masks and mask wearing was NOT enforced, despite signs posted all around the resort that it was mandatory.
The place is beautiful. The staff is very good with the customer. They treat you like family when I get another chances I will go again the view of the ocean is beautiful. Must get a room with the view of the ocean.
The view was amazing and the grounds well maintained. Beautiful outdoor patios at different levels and a long walkway down to the beach and pool. The rooms were simple but clean and the beds comfortable. The resort is difficult to manuver if you are disabled or a senior citizen since it os on a hill and service isnt guaranteed to get you back up. The narrow hallways are the same with steps and different levels. The food and service was excellent.
Ate at the Sunset Grill. Ambiance couldnt have been any better. Sitting on the patio overlooking Long island Sound. Food was delicious and decently priced.
Such a great place to enjoy the summer
Incredible location, one of favorite places to visit in CT. Do not need to be a hotel guest to visit outside patio bar overlooking the sound.
Not what my daughter was hoping to find for her wedding spot
Great food and service. We didn’t stay in the hotel but it looked nice.
Attended a wedding here. Resort was clean and leads to the beach. Staff was polite and attentive. Food was good as well. Plenty of parking. No valet necessary. There is one Tesla charging station.
The Waters Edge Resort & Spa was just what the doctor ordered for our 3 day getaway. Under a 2 hour drive and world away from NYC, the Waters Edge and the surrounding area gave us a well needed few days to veg in a beautiful location, rest up and eat lobster. What was surprising was this place is as pretty as the website said it was and our accommodations were better than we expected. We expected neat, clean and up to date. What we got was a beautiful suite with a large living room, kitchenette and a spacious bedroom. Maybe it was luck, but who cares. We had a good time.
Great location and facility, but the service is spaced out, seriously they are not on point at all.
Very clean. Staff is very friendly and definitely following appropriate COVID protocols. Beach chairs are 6 feet apart. Lots of outdoor dining options. Unfortunately, rained a bit on my trip.
Skip the lobster rolls and indulge in the breakfast. Their omelettes and french toast are sensational!
Nice beach hotel supplied chairs, umbrella & towels. Bar service very nice staff
Quick visit with friends. Beautiful spot, great food and cocktails
I have been here to stay more than once. The rooms are specious and accomodating. The main hotel is a great size and reminds me of a Long Island Mansion inside. The restaurant is delicious with dinner, lunch, bar area, more casual and more formal dining options. The pool is a decent size but the best part is the ocean front beach access. A small but adequate sized beach is located right on the prooerty. It is lovely to sit in the sand and enjoy the view, especially on a sunny summer day. They also offer different outdoor dining options. Many activities for kids. One unique feature was they offer a walk through the ocean at low tide to the nearby island. You can walk through the body of water! How awesome is that! Absolutely recommend to come not only once but multiple times if possible. They also have various shops including a pizzeria and bookstore, fitness (yoga) center on the same property just steps away.
Beautiful as always! They followed COVID procedures to a tee and the service was great
Beautiful landscaping and buildings. This place is definitely special. The beach access and pool is nice with a small bar and grill area to hang during the day. There was a wedding happening just beyond the beach on the big grassy area and it is a superb spot to have a wedding. We had snacks at the Sunset Bar and grill up the hill. The food was decent but the service was very slow. There was only one waitress for about 12 tables. It got busier a little later and there was live music. It got very packed and people were dancing away the evening. We had a late dinner in the Italian restaurant inside and once again the food was decent but nothing mind blowing. The rooms are clean and adequately spaced. There is a spa and an indoor pool. Heading down for breakfast now. I would definitely come back if I were looking to vacation in this part of Connecticut again.
Sprawling beautiful hotel on the water however shouldn’t have the “resort” moniker for many reasons
Excellent food, drinks and service.
Went to a bridal shower here last week. Brunch was delicious! My brother got married there almost 7 years ago. Food wasn’t great then but definitely improvised since. Beautiful spot too!
I have stayed here previously a few times. We stayed here with my son and daughter in law in unit with a fireplace and loft and another great time with my mother for her 95th birthday weekend celebration. Both times were excellent and everyone enjoyed themselves. The atmosphere, food and staff were so enjoyable. We couldn’t ask for more.
Beautiful property and resort. Friendly staff..
If you are hoping to stay at a resort this summer that is practicing safe Covid-19 regulations for guest safety, Waters Edge might not be the right place. We stayed at Waters Edge for 3 nights the third week of July. We initially were happy with the Covid-19 safety guidelines promoted on the Waters Edge website. What we experienced was a very different reality. The website states that only 1 family member can be present at the front desk for check-in, and that every other window will be used at the front desk. When we arrived on a Sunday (3 hours before check-in), only one front desk employee was present and the line of families waiting to check in was out the door, spilling into the parking lot. Waters Edge also does not provide any resort information when checking in, which would be so helpful for a first-time guest like myself. No hand-out with restaurant hours/resort map/info.... not even a QR code to use on your phone to pull this information up. You have to figure it out as you go along. We asked the front desk if the pool or beach would be crowded on a Sunday, as the website says social distancing will be in place at the pool and beach, with limited occupancy for guests to ensure 6 feet social distancing. What we saw was the opposite. The beach and pool were so crowded that the hotel did not have enough chairs, towels or umbrellas for the number of guests they let into the pool and beach. It was also a 95 degree day with high humidity, so beyond Covid, I think its very unsafe for a hotel to offer beach access to more guests than the hotel can offer shade or seats for. Its also a big problem to see that a hotel is letting more guests into their pool and beach area during a pandemic than the hotel has enough towels for. The number of towels a hotel has available should not be less than the amount of people who can enter a pool/beach area. The beach and pool staff were all young adults wearing face masks as chin guards; especially at Julias Beach Bar. And we also thought that if the hotel has the word Resort in their title, that a beach staff member would show us to our beach chairs, help us with putting up an umbrella and provide us with towels. We were told by the beach staff to just find a spot if you can.And last, restaurant service was terrible. We dined our first night at the Seaview Bistro Tavern. We had two children with us. We placed our orders around 6:30pm and the kids meals (plain pasta with red sauce) did not arrive at our table until after 8pm. My husbands and my meal came out in about 45 minutes. My dinner was not as described on the menu so I needed to send it back. Our server came to our table so infrequently that my husband ended up busing our table himself and ordering our drinks directly from the bar. Then at lunch, we waited again almost an hour for our meals. We were told the kitchen was backed up from a wedding, which did not make sense to us as seeing that Waters Edge can only hold weddings with up to 25 guests. A party of 25 people should not hold up a resort kitchen for that much time.On the positive side, the grounds at Waters Edge are beautiful. The hotel rooms are clean and large. But the service and safety precautions we encountered were nonexistent.
Food here is excellent. Best clam chowder
The staff was amazing - shout out to Shelby who helped to plan my proposal to my boyfriend and Jane who started everyday for me with a massage!!
Ive been coming here for over 15 years and the service and overall experience of this place has gone downhill tremendously, mainly its the complete lack of consciousness among the guests who stay here.I most recently stayed in July during the pandemic and very few people bothered to wear face coverings and beach-goers blatantly violated the CDC and governors policies having sizable groups, rearranging chairs on the beach. The staff did nothing to keep order. After a beach day on Saturday spent laying on a towel since there were no available seats anywhere on the shore or in the pool area at 10:00am, I walked down Sunday morning at 8:00am to reserve a spot. This is something, by the way, that is against the Waters Edges policies (no reserving beach chairs), however, all rules seem optional at this place with no consequence of breaking them. (No parking zone? Youre good. You dont have a handicap tag? Dont worry about it. Smoking on your balcony? Its fine. Dont feel like parenting on vacation? This is the place for you.) When walking to the beach Sunday morning, trash was everywhere: empty cups, water bottles, napkins, cans, abandoned beach toys etc... Beach chairs were scattered haphazardly across the shore with no regard to making the resort seem presentable at all.Tuesday was a cloudy day and was spent mainly in our room. From 3:00pm - 7:40pm, the people above us were trampling across the floor. The front desk was called twice, the second time they were called, we were told that children answered the phone and hung up. The family left for dinner, when they came back the stampede proceeded until 10:00pm. We were awoken at 6:50am on Wednesday when what sounded like a 5k was being ran over our heads. We went directly to the front desk, we were told the manager was on duty at 8:00am, so we went back and requested to be moved to any other room. Every room was booked, they said (on a Wednesday and Thursday during the week at a time were no weddings were occurring) and nothing could be done outside of a phone call to the jack hammering room. When we had expressed to them that this tactic would not work given the experience the night before, we were patronizingly told, thats all we can do. No offer to check back with us, no follow up, no empathy shown by the manager. An hour later, the stampede continues. Four calls made to the front desk from this point on were ignored. If you are thinking about buying a timeshare here, they couldnt care less about you or your stay - they already have your money; if you are thinking about vacationing here, dont bet on using the pool area or beach on a weekend; If you want to get married here, its a factory. The Waters Edge is a classic example of a market failure. There is a fierce competition to use the amenities available to all, people over-consume free public goods by reserving beach chairs when some dont actually use them, and most importantly, there is a total lack of empathy or awareness from the guests who stay here. I would have rather stayed home, in fact we checked out a night early to use the beach at Hammonasset and to get away from the mosh pit above us. Invariably, the person responding to this review will try to save face by wishing us a better stay, but they only care to do so because its public; employees here will do nothing to make your stay more comfortable.
Nice family eats outside in a friendly..well distant atmosphere
We decided to have our anniversary dinner here. Got a nice spot outside by the water. Very quiet though and needed some music outside, as we could hear everyones convo. The food was nothing special and definitely not worth the money! The fried calamari was nothing special, they served our steak with a butter knife and had to wait 15 min to get one. My side dish was wrong. My hubbys dirty martini that was a 2nf order was brought without olives and had to wait 10 min to get them. Our waiter was barely around. It took a very long time to get our check. My hubby had to eventually get up to get it. We were not impressed at all! Sucked for our anniversary:(
Relaxing. Peaceful. Heaven
Very nice Atmosphere, they had a Band playing also.
Good suites. Nice beach. Plenty of shade.
Beautiful location for brunch. $40 Prix fixe brunch with a pasta bar, omelette bar and dessert bar. A great variety of options including traditional breakfast fare like scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes and potatoes, but also a nice selection of roasted vegetables, salads and quinoa. If youre a big eater this is perfect for you! During the warmer months, sit outside - the view is breathtaking!
Beautiful spot. Modern oceanfront condos available with beautiful view. Fine restaurant and magnificent gardens. Note: during the summer this is a family friendly place with a tiny crowded beach and lots of kids. I would not suggest it as a quiet adult getaway...bring the kids.
I loved it here, I cant wait to go back . I felt like I was on a tropical resort
Had an amazing visit with a friend. We celebrate my Birthday. The views are amazing. The staff was so friendly. The food was delicious. The brunch was our favorite. Loved the spa as well! We will definitely be back!! Hands down one of the nicest resorts we have been to.
This is a beautiful resort and hotel. I had such a wonderful weekend here with my family. We stayed in a very nice 6-person room which had 3 1/2 rooms (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, on 2 floors) with an ocean view balcony. My daughter loved both the indoor and outdoor pools. The staff were very kind and helpful as well. I did a couples massage at the spa which was lavish and fun. It is very picturesque and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Great staff great food and the room was awesome. Waterfront king. Some rehab and updates were being done, but had little impact on our stay. Also did couples massage which was wonderful.
The rooms are awesome, but the service is a little spotty. They could do a better job running the beach and cabanas.
Great hotel to stay with the family! Wouldve given it 5 starts, but the rooms need revamping, especially the tubs.
The service was exceptional. Great views from the banquet hall. The bar has a great selection. The gift shop has some original items. I have not checked out a room here but I understand they are very clean and quaint.
My husband and I recently stayed here 6/22-6/24 for our wedding anniversary since we cant really travel anywhere else. After being locked down for the last few months we were very much looking forward to this short getaway. We were unfortunately VERY disappointed.Upon arrival to our room we found multiple black dust particles scattered on the left side of our bed. Choosing to not make a big deal of it, we decided to not bring it up with anyone. The night of June 22 we dined at Seaview bistro and ordered the margarita pizza. When the pizza arrived, we were disappointed to find what arrived was essentially a piece of bread and a few slices of tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Once again, to avoid making a big deal we didnt mention anything. To make matters worse, the next day we ate breakfast and lunch at Seaview bistro. Within minutes of finishing lunch my husband started to feel unwell. We immediately returned to our room at which point he spent the next few hours profusely vomiting. I notified the front desk which put me in touch with the manager of the restaurant. She was less than willing to accommodate. In fact, just insisting that nothing was wrong with the food and that everything they used was fresh. My husband and I are both physicians in NYC, so we know this is a clear cut case of food poisoning. Which item caused him to be ill is unclear but since we only dined at Seaview bistro (and did not have any outside food) we know its that particular restaurant. We had such a terrible experience that we checked out the next morning before 7AM, not daring to use our last breakfast voucher despite having already paid for it with our room cost. It is more than obvious that our anniversary was spoiled as we expected much more given the price we paid for our stay and from what you claim as a a top New England beachfront resort.I wrote their manager an email and called her twice but now a week later I have yet to hear back from her. Not surprising given their level of service. I would never stay here again nor would I recommend this place.
Stunning views, and wonderful staff make this place great. However, a few things were less than desirable, so we wont return. Parking was a nightmare. You end up having to park in the adjoining shops parking lot or pay for valet which always had a crazy line. For $400 a night, it seems crazy to let visitors who come for weddings park in hotel guest parking and make hotel guests hike. Our room *301 had only 2 outlets, one of which was behind the dresser and inaccessible, as well as full with the tv and cable cords. The other outlet had an extension cord that powered both (only 2) lights and the alarm clock. So to make coffee, you had to take the coffee pot to the far side nightstand and unplug the clock. And if you want to go to bed before 10:30, forget it. Live bands are every night outside, they are good, but dont stop until 10pm and loud in your room.
Great hotel. Excellent food.
Did not stay at the resort but the Restaurant food and service was awful. Even for basic bar food standards, it was terrible. Soggy fried fish, nothing fresh. Should have gotten the hint as to why not many people were eating there with such amazing views. Location/views are excellent, just unfortunate the food/restaurant/service is so bad.
Excellent place to relax and enjoy the ocean view ...Great for the whole family..! - Will Be Back..
Also nice to visit and enjoy the scenery .
Beautiful place and nice view
Beautiful grounds, excellent friendly staff, well appointed villas and very good food in the restaurant.
