Beautiful museum to visit. Currently as of this review, entry is free on Friday and Saturday (thanks to some amazing donors). Also Fridays they are open until 10 pmIf you have bank of America card, it is also free the 1st weekend of each month. Be sure to check out their events calendar. The exhibits are beautiful, we especially enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd floor paintings and sculptures in the European and Chinese halls. The outdoor garden is nice, big restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, also have a coffee shop and a gift shop. Overall great way to spend a couple hrs. Come enjoy what the Palm Beaches have to offer whether you are a local or visitor.
The art museum was far greater than expected. I would never have considered myself an art enthusiast, but the experience was captivating. After a great length of time, we found that the museum was closing and we had barely covered but a few sections. I look forward to my next opportunity to return. I have returned twice more, first one month later and, second, one week later. Both times had obvious changes to the museum. They were additionally having special performances for the chinese new year.
Norton just undertook a major revitalization and I am pleased to see new artwork displayed. Docents are very passionate about art, tell Docent Kate Weingart to keep up the excellent work! I enjoy the live music on Friday evenings! I am overjoyed to celebrate Lunar New Year with the Annual Lion Dance Festivities! Thank you for all you do for our Community!
Very impressive curationKara Walker, Georgie OKeefe, and rock crystal Chinese sculptures were great. The banyan tree outside was majestic magic.BE HERE
It screams elegance..The staff is friendly and not pretentious. I love how they have activities and host fun events. I am a writer and just went to s very classy private party there for the 10th year Anniversary of the prominent Voltaire Saddle. In addition, it is very beautiful at night and their outdoor garden is dreamy.
The newly renovated Norton Museum is so gorgeous. The architecture is amazing very contemporary. I’ve already recommended everyone I know I go. They a lot of big name artist.
I have been here a few times and after the remodel it is better than ever.
I loved it, the building has a great design and its exhibits are wonderful; if you go, take a moment to appreciate the amazing tree at the entrance.
Absolutely stunning, a beautiful museum intent on its mission to share art of all types and mediums in dynamic settings inside and out. My first trip was a private small tour group and our docent was nothing short of amazing. Her riveting stories about the pieces, the displays and the architecture allowed us to learn and admire so much in z short time. We enjoyed lunch on property with a unique film of art brought to life. Toured the gardens on my own. Love, love, love. Bought myself a membership and plan on visiting often.
GRAND OPENING: Feb 9th, 2019What an incredible day! The architecture, artwork, gardens, and energy were all amazing! I didnt even get to see it all so Ill definitely be going back shortly! This is a MUST SEE in South Florida and rivals your favorite museum. A wonderful welcome to the community and furthers the love and appreciation South Florida has for art. ☆☆☆☆☆
This modern museum is beautiful and full of lovely art. It is small, but packed with art. I have only been once, but I will definitely go again if I ever get back to Florida.
This is a great place to go nice art each room has lots of different are with different exhibits all the time also an outside garden with different art must see also don’t forget to stop and do the gift shop and buy a knickknack but most of all try the restaurant it’s worth the price the service was good and the food was off the chain The The fish sandwich is unbelievable but make sure you have the pancakes also also the dessert was really good if you’re a member of the museum you get free dessert so become a member so you can get your free dessert go see Art
The norton museum is a great place to visit, if you’re coming for the art or coming for the pictures it’s worth it. The museum has a smooth layout and is kept very clean. It’s large so it’s not too busy and has some great works on display. They rotate their pieces enough to keep the museum fresh and enticing!
There was a time that it was said Florida had no culture! Well times have changed! I have seen some of the best exhibits in my life at this Museum. Newly renovated and gorgeous, its bigger and better than ever. When you have had enough Beach, check it out.
Visited here with my bf after the renovation. The architecture of the museum is really impressive. We joined a guided tour and the docents were really knowledgeable and engaged us on the tour, asking questions and what we thought of the different pieces of art. The hour tour went by so quickly and was so enjoyable we barely realized time went by. The museum is big and has so much to offer, that you could get lost in the art for hours. There’s even a café!
We went this Sunday afternoon from Miami using the fast train. They have a really good art selection, some pieces are perfectly positioned to make an impression on you or to create conversations. Sadly, we thought were going to have more time, plus, the museum staff invite us to leave 10 minutes before closing because they had an event.
We were amazed by the high quality of the pieces exhibited in this museum. An excellent option to spend your Saturday or Sunday. We took the bright line from Downtown Miami and got here in 1.5hrs on a Sunday, spent about 3.5hrs at the museum and by 5:30 we were back in Miami.
Diverse art collections with frequent special exhibits. Very modern, spacious esthetic. Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon there!
I was not super enthused about seeing the Georgia OKeefe exhibit, but it was very good. We spent a couple of hours there, and the time flew by. I thought that I knew about her, but I was wrong. The show included many of her works, weighted towards her earlier paintings. Her early work gave me a lot of insight.Seeing art in person is completely different from seeing it online. The colors cannot be described, or reproduced in photos, posters or books. Speaking of photos, there were lots of them too. She had a very carefully guarded image, much like todays stars. Being married to a famous photographer was part of it, but she created a cult of her personality, for better and for worse. It is an excellent place to people-watch. The artsy types, the studious ones, the evidently crazy ones, they were all here. I took a break from the art and just sat, watched and listened. No extra charge for the entertainment. The rest of the museum was impressive as well. It is not large, but nevertheless an impressive collection for a small town. A small town with lots of money! An excellent option for a rainy day.
Incredible place. Wasnt expecting such an incredible collection. Gotta thank everyones that contributed and lend art from heir own personal collections. Miro, Picasso, Anish Kapoor, money, Chagall, Francis Bacon... things you wouldnt believe. So impressed with the selection!! Much better than what the PAMM has now.
Great museum with bar and restaurant. Free admission on Fridays and Saturdays. A wide variety of events that periodically change.Parking is free. I highly recommend it
The reopened Norton is a beautiful building. The entrance and the new floor and the new niceties are quite beautiful. The garden is pretty with statues however some of the sculptures are not that interesting. Now regarding the artwork at the Norton it’s basically the same artwork that was there before so there are about 10 famous pieces and and it seems that Norton tried to fill up the new empty spaces with progressive political “art”. Fortunately when I was there this weekend there was a special exhibit with works by Nick Cave and Lichtenstein -very worth seeing. The glass collection in the ceiling is very creative and worth seeing too. I am personally hoping that they acquire some real artwork to fill up their walls a bit better.
Bested my expectations!!!Newly renovated and completed with style and grace.Terrific experience and wonderful display of artistsNew cafe and restaurant are very friendly attentive staff and knowledgeable of the MuseumWe will return
Fantastic place to visit, and free entry on Fridays and Saturdays. Eclectic collection, and a vast collection....we were there several hours. Garden is also lovely. Free parking across the road. Loved the exhibition of work by students from local schools...what talented students ( and teachers!)
Wow I just visited Norton for the first time and I am really happy I did. Will definitely be back again as I would like to read everything more throughly and check out the art again. Very nice kid friendly activities every Friday. Thank you!
Museum had a grand reopening.Located close to Downtown West Palm Beach, Florida. Fabulous event.More special events planned during month of February. Many great collections to see. Three floors of wonderful displays. Coffee bar and sit down Cafe.Parking available.
The Norton Museum is a local treasure, and with the recent ($60 million) renovation, its more impressive than ever. A must-see for visitors and residents. Free admission on Saturdays!
I have been going to this museum for years and I must say the beautiful job they’ve done with the remodel is amazing !! They have integrated the old and the new building very nicely !! They have a wonderful restaurant with outdoor and indoor sitting !! Plus every Friday they offer free admission !! Which is a plus for anyone looking for free events in west palm beach area !!
I came here when I was a kid and it changed my life forever. Art in South Florida was always trying to reach out, but it never had the proper hand. The Norton propelled me to reach out upon the world. I had recently returned after 30 years of the world and its priceless museums; and in a way, so did the Norton. And it still retains that sublime power. The quiet, Roman fountain center that still lures us to reflection. That bold Matisse string ray that brought me to silence still hangs, but new and challenging media works slam you in the face, in a good way. And the renovation is stunning and coherent. There lies the old banyan tree, as big as the moon, singing to the concrete pool. The gardens are hot, sunny and full of tropical life. Bravo, Ms. Norton.
I had a great experience at the museum is a super big museum with a nice selection of art, they have for every taste a piece for you, I definitely recommend it for spend a quality time and learning about art history
Norton has undergone a beautiful renovation recently. I have been visiting for years whenever I go to see my grandma in Florida. They have a vast variety of different exhibits and a beautiful garden outside. Also noticed their bar in their dining space that we did not partake in but saw a wide variety of selections. Wonderful place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.Wear comfortable shoes- there’s a lot of area to cover!
It is a relatively small museum but every piece is stunning and beautifully displayed.
Beautiful architecture combined with great exhibits. I loved the Chinese art and the Toulouse Latrek show. Great fun and free on Fridays and Saturdays.
Well rounded collection ranging from classic to contemporary. We decided to visit just because we were in the area, having never heard of the museum before. We were not disappointed. Give it a solid 1 to 2 hours to casually stroll and take everything in.
Art after dark has to be one of the best things to do in Palm Beach County on a Friday night!
Awesome museum that’s a must go to spot if your downtown in West Palm Beach
Beautiful building and a wonderful collection of art! Came for a special exhibit but enjoyed the museum as a whole. Will definitely visit again to see everything I missed the first time. Museum also has a decent cafe and restaurant with a full service bar.
Not wild about modern art these days, but there was plenty of other great art to see, loved the Picasso
It was a pretty good museum. Even it still under construction; the exhibition was pretty good. Once they open I believe they will be the biggest art museum in Florida.
I liked it! Way bigger than I expected it to be. Many artists featured to name a few: Monet, Matisse, Miró, Gris, and Picasso! I was pretty happy.
Surprisingly robust collection featuring Picasso, Monet, Matisse and an array of styles from every era since the renaissance. Additionally, abstract, photography, Chinese relics and outdoor sculpture. Even a Chihuly exhibit. Lived in the area 25 years ago and was pleasantly surprised with the expansion in space and quality of collection. Highly recommend.
Excellent artists available certain times for free. I went to Art after Dark looking forward to the next one.
My favorite museum. Art at night is so much fun...youve gotta go
Really enjoyed the museum and restaurant! Great way to spend the afternoon. The food and service at the testay were really good. The decor is very modern and comfortable. Definitely recommend a visit.
It was a good museum, it was something to do. They were clean And the staff was nice
From the arquitecture to the sample of different types of paintings this is a great museum. The gardens and restaurant make it even more enjoyable. I would say it is a must see in SE Florida landmark. Enjoy it...
Since the remodeling, the Norton is better than ever. The galleries are planned well and the collections are interesting. There is a good restaurant with great service overlooking the gardens. There is something for everyone, connoisseurs or new museum goers.
The new Norton Museum is much improved over the older and smaller museum. Only spent an hour and a half there this time but could definitely spend at least another hour more. The collections are small but of nice quality. The OKeefe exhibition was great. Parking is not convenient.
Beautiful building.. A very interesting exhibition. Do not miss the garden
We got there special Friday where you get in for no charge. What a beautiful collection of art. You can also get a bite to eat near cafeteria. Their gift shop offers some really nice pieces for pretty cheap. Give it a try one day you never know you might like it.
What a treat this museum is! Check out the after hour openings and the exhibits they have in circulation
The family and I thoroughly enjoyed the museum. They had some excellent exhibitions and many world renowned artists on display!
Nice place. I was definitely underdressed for the event.
Tons of events, and a respectable amount of American and Chinese art. Do visit on a sunny day! The gardens is one of the highlights of the museum on the right day. Parking is a lit sparse on site but there are tons of locations with I n walking distance.
Awesome that a museum with this much art, such a variety of genres/mediums/influences, and also some heavy hitters in the field is in a relatively small city. The fact that its free to visit depending on when you go, really is in keeping with the idea of leveraging art to help enrich society/the community.
Wonderful museum. They care for community programs and have amazing programs
A beautiful museum with a ceiling of glass that makes you feel as if you are under the sea. an eclectic mix of art and styles with something for all to see and enjoy - and a delicious restaurant too with outdoor seating that is tranquil and pretty as if in a garden
I went with my husband and two kids(14 & 10 years old) for the grand reopening. The new museum is gorgeous! I cant wait to go back.
Lovely, big and a great place to take your time. Some amazing works.
Easy to navigate museum thats light and airy. Last week we visited the Georgia OKeeffe exhibit which was extremely educational! It displayed not only her paintings, but photos of her by her husband as well as Ansel Adams, Andy Warhol and many others. It also displayed alot of her wardrobe - much of which she made herself. I also love the Chihuly glass exhibit in the museum as well as all the Masters paintings and sculptures always on display! The museums been newly renovated so its definitely worth a second look if youve not been in awhile!
I love it. Such an amazing place to appreciate art.
Its a really good art museum. I particularly loved the minimalism and I wish there had been more. Im very into photography and I felt that the way a lot of photos were displayed caused them lose parts of their meanings. Also they had a set of paintings in the minimalism area. These paintings were a set of 10. Using positive and negative space each painting had its own complimentary painting. I probably stared at it for half an hour. It brought out emotion. I had realized that the paintings seemed to be placed incorrectly. There were two rows of paintings and the had the complimentary paintings next to each other, meaning the final painting on the top row had its complimentary painting as the first painting on the bottom row. Obviously one set should go on the top row with each complimentary painting underneath it.
Worth a visit ..especially ouside in the big gardens.
Wonderful spacious art gallery. A must visit if you are in the area. Nice cafe arwa, could do with a little more seating.
A really good collection, I was impressed, it was an unexpected display, and during the OKeefe exhibit it was well done, and I greatly appreciate the free Saturday admission, a great atmosphere and building designCant wait to revisit.
Beautiful museum and gardens. Much larger than I expected! Give yourself plenty of time to explore the well thought out exhibits and sculptures outside.
Grand opening was fabulous, the renovated and enlarged museum is very impressive, very airy, lots of room to relax betweenexhibitions, wonderful place to take children where they can play freely on the lawn while families can eat and watch them at the same time, plenty of exhibits. I want to see more of what they will bring in, I was not overly impressed with what is on display right now. It s very new so we will wait and see what the future brings Its a fabulous place, well worth several visits.
Beautiful museum with provocative contemporary art, an extensive collection of 19th century American paintings and photography, and a Chihuly glass ceiling. Restaurant wasnt very good: slow service and unremarkable food.
A great plus for the city of West Palm Beach.Various unique exhibitions
Great local place.. A bit expensive for my taste.. Since they hardly ever change anything around too much
Great Museum and there restaurant is also outstanding. Our server Lisa suggested several items and everything she recommended was outstanding
It happened to be free day that a patron underwrote so it was an added plus! Great Georgia OKeeffe exhibit. Wonderful museum, great gift shop!
Love the newly renovated Norton museum of art. Must see travel destination in West Palm Beach.
Wonderful collection of art. Really worth a visit, particularly on Free Fridays and all day Saturday.
What an awesome museum and garden! Unexpected treasure in West Palm Beach. Convenient parking lot. And free on Fridays and Saturdays.
Nice, new building! Lovely cafe, a cool tree and plenty of art!
The grand opening was fabulous! The restaurant was better than any restaurant. Paris, our waitress, capped off the evening spectacularly!
Beautiful museum with amazing art and history.
One of South Floridas best art museum and recently renovated.
Love the free admission on fridays and Saturday’s! Great to visit on rainy days and free parking in lot in the front.
Exciting, vibrant, very active museum with a wide variety of visual offerings
Because of the location being in my neighborhood I will still be a supporting member, however I was disappointed in the renovations. This was the first time I was back and miss the quaintness of the museum and how it made you feel warm and fuzzy. Now it looks very instutional, like a hospital decorated with high end art. The parking also even on slow days is far from the building making it harder to get to.Did enjoy the Poster Collection, but didnt see much in the store representative of this special event. Looking forward to seeing how they handle future collection presentations.
Very interesting pieces of artwork, with 3 floors to browse all of the art and historical information. However, I would not recommend it for small children. They do have a lovely cafe in the garden area for a quick drink/lunch while visiting
Beautiful building. Wonderful collection, especially for the last 110 years or so. Nice sculpture garden.
Had a great visit with my wife and grandparents! The Georgia OKeeffe exhibit was very nice.
The Norton Museum of Art is fun to walk around... the blueprint of the place itself is its own art — each turn you take has little surprises. It’s very well curated over all not just in the collections they sport & but also in how they choose to arrange them throughout the building.
Ive been going since I was a child and this museum has always been my favorite. Its free admission Fridays and Saturdays, has so many exhibits my girlfriend and I got tired part way through after we stayed for several HOURS! So much to look at inside and outside. In the gardens or in the exhibition rooms. Would highly recommend.
Really a gem for all of Florida and West Palm Beach in particular. One of the better museums in the southeast. Really nice collection of impressionist paintings and others. I highly recommend spending the day here at least an evening. Nice restaurant to unwind in the evening.
What an extraordinary Museum this has grown up to be! I attended the Member Preview and had tears in my eyes and joy in my heart! The Norton is spectacular! The architecture alone is worth the visit - modern, gorgeous an all encompassing full immersion experience into the best of South Florida on the outside cleverly on view from the inside. The staircase is divine! The galleries are lusciously designed and offer the mist beautiful permanent collection. The sculptures are perfectly appointed and the restaurant looks simply beautiful cant wait to go back! There are family programs as well as so many things for adults! Don’t Miss this brand new museum... the way they have blended the old space with the new is flawless and the art is whimsical, bold, sweet, beautiful ancient and cutting edge... take your pick! You will LOVE it!
Vast collection and varying interior styles. If you love art, you can enjoy browsing the Norton for a good hour or so and free admission on Fridays and Saturdays make it accessible. The walk between the Rosemary Square parking garage is a bit sketchy though.
Letter sent to Exec Director about todays experience.Your new $5 parking is not welcoming, but even less welcoming is only 4 Disability spaces with 11 RESERVED spots, 9 not in use. When I pulled into one space to figure out what was going on, I was almost jumped by Security & told to leave. My wife, with a recently broken ankle & MS was supposed to stand around the Reserved lot for 15 to 20 minutes while I circled the block to find the mysterious parking lot.We used to like checking out the Norton each year, but obviously you are not interested in casual paying customers. Shame on you for keeping such a great collection behind walls that are difficult to enter.Sincerely....
The new expansion of the Norton is incredible! The space for current installations on the ground floor flows well & encourages visitors to explore the 2nd & 3rd floors. The sculpture garden beautifully punctuates the outdoor seating of the restaurant and the Great Hall is stunning. Looking forward to many return visits.
Spectacular venue with great exhibits. Tha gardens and patio are very soothing. Nice staff, a perfect cultural outing in the Palmm Beaches. Easy parking across the street and nice restaurant with in and outside dining. A top day!
Fabulous renovation, especially the way existing parts of the museum were married with new additions. Permanent collection is now displayed impressively.
I visited yesterday with several friends. Admission on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer is free as well as parking . We took a 11:30 tour which was very interesting, and it too was free.We had a delicious lunch there eating Florida and Ceaser salads with added chicken and fish, but the menu had many non salad options as well as a bar serving alcohol. After lunch we stopped in the museum store which was very reasonably priced and well stocked with interesting things. We all left very happy from our day trip!
Check for free days. Its great that they do that. Nice collection, and they get some very good exhibits
Wonderful building. Great collection. Good exhibits. Well lit for viewing art.
Such a unique variety of artworks. Chinese Art exhibit has pieces dating back to the year 635!
Absolutely an amazing museum cant wait to go back now that they are already done with the renovations.
