A very peaceful place. my dogs loved visiting. wish the trails were matured a little bit. the walking loop does not connect so you do have to back track which is a minor inconvenience. will definitely be coming back.
Beautiful location for the purple martin birds. This was a great idea by the DNR to rename the lake.
Love this place and have been going since before it officially opened. Giving it 3 stars because I will echo a previous reviewer that the ticks are as bad here as anywhere I have ever been. Been there 3 times in the last 7 days and each time have pulled at least 20 ticks off of my dog and I. Last time I had had 14 on my shoes/legs and 12 on the dog by the time we got back to the car, and quite a few more while I dried him off and checked both of us. We were on the mowed trail the entire time and my dog even swam in the southwest corner of the lake. I had used 40% deet spray and my dog is treated. Thankfully none were latched but the sheer # of ticks here is unbelievable so just wanted to let anyone planning a visit to take precautions and do a thorough check of yourselves and pets before leaving.
A very steep downhill climb a little much for seniors and people with handicap the DNR needs to improve the accessibility to the water
Brand new. Walking trails that lead to cut in fishing areas. Kayak accesible boating on a pristine old quarry. Lots of nature and wildlife. Great to see DNR using our resources to make a new destination for nature viewing.
Pretty place but beware this time of year....me and my dog were covered with ticks after walking there.
Asome, except for the ticks on the dog,but they loved it!
A good spot FOR fishing
No fish I didnt like it
Peaceful place
