We love shopping here! They have such great and good choices for our pets and are always super friendly and helpful. We love that we can go in and be free to choose to not wear m@sks, its very important for our family! We love their smiling faces And will continue to shop there. Great selection of pet food and supplies but I’m extremely disappointed that the employees don’t wear masks. I’d much rather support a local business rather than shop at a big box store but we may need to rethink this due to their lack of safety there.

Been in here twice... theyre not very outgoing and friendly, but they do have a lot of options for a little store. Never knew there was a fishroom in the back! They have some pretty cool salt water fish. Really cool little pond in the middle of the store with fish and eel looking things in it. Our dog adores their cookies

They offer organic local made pet food only. Super awesome my cats love the locally made food but my bank account does not at all. 5lb bag of food that lasts my 3 cats 2 ish weeks and a bag of litter that lasts about the same time costs $70 dollars I would love to continue feeding my cats locally made food I trust but i cant untill in a bit more rich. They have saltwater stuff only. If you looking for freshwater dont go here. They have alot of cat and dog stuff but make sure you bank account has a safety belt on. They have a cat tree for 400 dollars which my sister liked but couldnt afford so her bf made her a bigger cat tree that looked the exact same except bigger and it costs her about 40 bucks. Prices are ridiculous.

I was really impressed with the selection and set up of this store. The fish room provides you with plenty of options from top to bottom. The coral selection allows you to pick your next tank inhabitants with ease. The customer service was exactly what I wanted and provided me with answers regarding the fish I was purchasing. I will definitely be a regular customer.

I’ve been shopping here for the last few years for both my golden retriever and my Siberian cat. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, giving me recommendations when I’m being indecisive and not entirely sure what I’m looking for. Since I don’t live close by, I always stock up on pet food and was very appreciative of their understanding of that during COVID-19. They’ve always been really sweet to my golden, too, giving him treats and love, and being very understanding the one time he had an accident as a puppy! I’ll keep supporting them over other large chains as long as they’re in business, and hopefully that’s for a long time!

Super friendly! I adopted 2 beautiful rats from them and they were very helpful when I had asked questions about what products were best for them. I definitely recommend them!

Ordered via email which was posted on store website. IPF&S does not have an online product list but having shopped many times in store I pretty much knew what I needed. I received a call within 15 minutes of sending my email and employee verified my order. She explained what was in and out of stock. Luckily they had almost everything I requested. She took my card info and I paid. Later in the day I pulled up at the store, called them and they brought my dog supplies out and put them in my pickup bed. I didnt even have to get out of my truck. Excellent service in trying times.

I went to 5 stores in one day between here and eastern Iowa and this one, by far, has the most helpful employees. I’m just getting into the saltwater aquarium hobby and last week I bought most of the gear to get started up here. Tim and Cale were extremely helpful during it all and even helped me move all my stuff to my car. I would drive the 50 minutes to this store any day. I look forward to giving them more business!

Always helpful when we need suggestions. Our aging pup needed a new food, and the staff pointed us in the direction of something new based on the things I told them, what we had tried (and he had liked, and didnt like) and it was a hit. Several bags later its still a hit and still sits well.Friendly staff, and we love seeing the animals from the local rescue when we stop in.

The only place that I have found that carries the brand of food I feed my fur kids. Its also close and pretty reasonably priced.

This is a great local pet food and supply store with a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. They carry only top of the line cat and dog food with a lot of brands you dont see anywhere else. I am ever so grateful for the selection because after my kittens 4 month boycott of all dry food I finally found a good natural healthy brand for her here. They also have some of the most beautiful salt and fresh water fish always in nice clean tanks, never overcrowded and Ive never seen one dead fish so its good for the kids too. Oh and did I mention the kitties and puppies and occasional bunnies you can play with or even better adopt and love forever. Theres also the birds not sure of their names, but definitely friendly and super entertaining the big one may have been mocking me, but he makes me laugh everytime.

Overall I have no complaints. Tim is very helpful. Some of the staff seem annoyed to have to help you, but Ive never had a bad experience. I rank it as a just okay place to get saltwater fish and coral. Probably the most fair priced place in town.

What can I say other than I love this place? I really come here for fish and fish supplies, although they have a great selection of dog/cat stuff as well. Hit or miss on some of the fish being in stock, but theyre always willing to order something for you if they can. Only place in Des Moines where you can get piranha. Best place Ive found in town to get corals and probably the largest selection of saltwater fish. Usually have a couple oddities/rare to see fish for sale. They also have a corner devoted to the ARL where you can adopt dogs or cats even rabbits too. Great place to go. Fish room closes like an hour before closing time though, so remember that if your wanting fish.

Freshwater selection isnt great, quite a few sick fish each visit - but overall this place has alot to offer.

This is a wonderful store filled with something for animal lovers of all species and breeds. The people are always nice and the arl in the back is nice too with lots of animals to choose from and recently theyve had dogs too which is nice. I love seening Lukie the bird. Always beautiful. My only complaint is the prices of the store. So high but I know the money is for good stuff. Because the stuff Ive bought here doesnt break as easy as other places Ive gotten from

I expected a small store when we stopped by but it turned out to be huge. They have speciality treats for dogs, I got a huge cod skin for mine for only 2.99. The fish are incredibly well taken care of, they have a ton of different type of shrimp, plants, driftwood and lots of corals. They also have a few simple bettas for 5 dollars each and a couple fancier ones for $30+

Everyone here is pleasant and helpful. Helped me get a deal I didnt know about and showed me the items I couldnt find. Great selection of food, toys, and pet tools. The aquarium items are beautiful as well!

I really like this place and it has so much potential. Unfortunately, if you come looking for freshwater fish, you might as well go to petco. You guys really, really need to get a handle on the Ick in your tanks. There were fish completely covered when I came in today, 3/1/19. And Ive had to nurse my tank back to health after buying fish from you guys a few times in the past. Please treat your poor sick fish!

Only place in Des Moines where you can find Pro Pac dog foods. Has small adoption area and plenty of aquatics related items to start or expand you aquarium. We dont go anywhere else.

So the place closes at 8pm, my husband was waiting for me for about 8 mins, I came in and met him I the cat aisle, the older woman who works there, came directly towards us and asked what we where looking for, mind you he was already waiting there, the tone in her voice wasn’t pleasant and didn’t sound like she really didn’t want to help us, more like we needed to hurry and buy something! She did ask about our cat and gave us some about how much to feed our cat, but she made us felt really rushed, she went on to ask us what else we needed and we said a dog leash so she took us to the area were they sell leashes, Again the tone in hear voice sounds if we were taking up to much time in the store! I understand when it’s closer to closing time, you don’t want customers coming in but a whole family and an old lady came in right after we cashed out and that was 10 mins till closing time! I did not see her rush these other customers as she rushed us! Honestly I felt discriminated against, yes I said it! Because I’m a Hispanic woman, and everyone else who came in afterwards were Caucasian!

Today was my first visit and I was very happy with the selection, prices, and quality of everything I looked at. Im mostly into freshwater, but their variety of reef supplies have me questioning my need for a saltwater tank... Today i left with freshwater plants and a few pieces of very well priced drift wood. Will definitely return here again.

I drove a friend there so she could get the vet to take care of her sick dog. I am writing this on behalf of my friend the, who said the vet was excellent, very knowledgeable, and did an excellent job helping the dog. I could also see the Improvement in the dog when my friend brought him back out from the vets office

I typically dont have too many complaints about this store. People are helpful and even the female employees offer assistance to the car, when I purchase a bag of dog food. Today, however, I didnt see the female employees, only a young man, standing behind the counter, looking at his phone. I found the foods I wanted and hauled 4 bags of food to the counter. Put them on the counter for him and then back in my cart. He made no attempt to offer assistance of any kind. I dont even remember him saying Thank you, for the almost $200 purchase. I will continue shopping here... But I am disappointed with the service I received today.

Excellent customer service and extremely informative staff all of whom love all pets. Everytime I bring my Great Danes in the store to pick up their food or cow cheeks, the staff stop to chat with my pups and always offer to carry my dog food to the car.

Every time Ive been in, they have healthy animals, good products, and lots of options. They even have live corals, which is something I dont see at many stores in the area. They have an absolutely enormous saltwater reef tank and a big pond with rays in it - a super cool place, even just for browsing. I would definitely recommend this store.

This has been our go to store for pet food for many years now. Had a great experience today when shopping for wet and dry cat food. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Rewards program on most brands of food. NOT more expensive than Petco or Petsmart! Chewy doesnt carry near the selection!
