Fantastic people! And older gentlemen who was a helicopter engineer gave us a comprehensive tour virtually for free. The museum director is a very nice lady who is personally involved in museum and gives her number for any arrangements needed. Me and my family had a great time! Great for school age kids!
This museum was packed with helicopter & other memorabilia. More will be opening when COVID restrictions lift. There is also a gift shop & nice bathrooms. It is next to a small airport if you also like to watch cessnas. The cost of admission is low as well.
Great history and content for all ages of the family. We arrived on a whim, early, and were allowed to come in prior to opening. This museum does not disappoint! Highlights include hands on historical displays and the ability to gauge the shear size of these machines by standing right next to them. Coming back for sure.
This was a nice experience when I took my daughter. I expected the display information to be a little more kept up when it comes to quailty. They added a theater which looks amazing! Friendly staff when I went. I wish the inventory could be changed or added new items to keep the younger crowd interested. Im glad they have a place with a ton of history.
Densely packed gem for anyone who loves helos. Great for families. Knowledgeable docents and staff. Fun gift shop.
10$ entry fee. 5$ for helicopter simulator experience for 10 mins. It contains helicopters from 1940 to present. It has one of three gaint V-22 osprey outside. Parking is free right outside. Must visit who likes history of areal innovations. It also has some models & you can buy some toy & model helicopters. They have helicopter rides on some weekends.
Very educational and enjoyable...was not aware of the fact that Pennsylvania played such a large role in helicopter development.
Great place for kids, airport is next door so you can watch the planes take off. Friendly staff and unique helicopters.
What a great place to visit. If you are at all interested in helicopters you will really like this place.Did not know that this area had so many ties to the manufacturing and development of helicopters. If you are ever close by, I recommend stopping in for a visit. $10.00 admission with discounts for students, seniors and military.
Ive always wanted to go here after seeing the signs for the museum about million times during my many commute hours on 202 and local roads between Downingtown and West Chester.Kids and wannabe kids alike, yall find something awesome to learn, touch and experience here. They have an amazing selection even though its a small museum - youll be done in about 1-2 hours. But what they also have is an incredible staff and community helpers who help answer any questions you might have. They have a simulator that I havent tried yet, so well definitely be back again.Walk through a military carrier chopper, sit in the pilots seat and physically tilt the blades to see how it all works, and watch a short but educational movie about the types of helicopters and their purpose.Oh, and they have a Mash chopper and a cool toy/gift shop.
I enjoyed this place. It was a little smaller than I expected, but still very neat. Also it was really cool to be able to get into some of the helicopters.
Really cool and our 5 1/2 test old son loved it. Plus we saw three small planes take off from the nearby runway.
If your a helicopter pilot and mechanic its worth a 10 minute walk through. If you havent been around any ever i suppose there would be some exciting things to see
Nice Museum with lots of different Helicopter. I mean Hella Copters
Very nice museum, the gentleman that volunteers at museum was is very knowledgeable about helicopters and friendly!!
Watch out staffed with Covid crazy ! They make you sign in with a telephone number for Covid reasons. There is not any mandate to require this information. Visitors beware.
My 2 & 3 y.o. grandsons loved this place. They especially enjoyed the little indoor play area.
This museum has aircraft that they will let you walk inside of and play with buttons! Great interactive exhibits for children (and adults!) explaining the principles of flight and the development of helicopters over time. It also has a nice helicopter-themed gift shop.
Very nice local museum with super cool helicopters. I was impressed with the size and variety. The military helicopters are especially cool.
You never realize how much rotary aviation history the SE PA region has till you come here. It was a wonderful trip.
Interesting assortment of helicopters on display with other exhibits on site. Reasonably priced fees and plenty of on-site parking available. Staff are very knowledgeable.
Went here on a school organized field trip, and it was a favorite for my little fly guy. The volunteer staff were fantastic with the kids of every age. This place is about as close to a please touch me museum as you can get. There were so many helicopters that the kiddos could get in and out of. There was also a themed play area for the littles. Entry to the museum is reasonably priced and the gift shop offerings had items in every conceivable price range. Based on their activity calendar this place seems very community minded as well. It is on the southeastern end of Chester County and seems closer to Exton.
American Helicopter Museum excellent displays of actual helicopers vintage & current. Tour person was a 35+ year military helicopter pilot. Very very knowledgeable and nice to talk with.
One of the best aviation museum. They got the entire history of helicopters lined up. They even have a helicopter simulation game which is available for $5 for 15 mins. You can also buy cool stuff for your kids also youll get a free helicopter poster.
Took my 30 year old son. We both enjoyed it immensely. Very informative and lots to see.
Well organized with hands on activities for the kids. Staff was friendly and helpful. They let us know that a helicopter was taking and we could watch.
Wow, what a great place for the Family!!! Great place! The adjacent airfield is very active which really adds to the ambiance of the location. Hidden gem which tells the amazing story of helicopter pioneers in the Delaware Valley!
Awesome place with a bunch of information on helicopters. My kids and I had a great time. We like this type of stuff and spent about 3 hours here. Great place, check it out.
Impressive helicopter museum...
A lot of fun for kids and adults!
Dizzying highs and some lows. But as this was my 10th visit I was eligible for their fantastic buy one grounded and mothballed helicopter and get the second at half off.Now that is not really true, since I didnt want to spend the $10 fee for entry, so I can only assume that the exhibits might be for sale. Youre welcome to let me know if you accidentally find anything out. #HelicopterLivesMatter
Love this place
Very interesting if youre interested in helicopter history. The staff here is wonderful and very knowledgeable about dalla copters on display
Nice surprise find. This had about a dozen helicopters and 5 of which you can go in. Kids had a blast playing inside them. It has a cute kids are for tots. Overall, this is a nice stop.
Visited for the second time on a field trip with kindergartners. The staff were very nice and the kids loved the cute video they put on for us. They really enjoyed seeing all of the helicopters and learning about what they did. There were four I believe that you could get in or walk through as well.
Hidden gem! Go there and prepare to nerd out if you dig helicopters and their history.
This place was fascinating took a lot of photos lots of history I’m a huge fan of helicopters this place was a great visit while in pa!
The plsce was fine. I just commenting about too many photos of the same helicopters.
Very nice place and educational especially for kids..
We absolutely love this place. Displays inside change regularly. Today they were selling helicopter rides. It was fun to watch small planes taking off and landing during our visit.
Was a great afternoon with family . Alot to see and learn, even for a gearbox head like me . Check closely in the cases of miniatures, my youngest found abell222 Airwolf.
This museum had a wide range of helicopters to look at and it was definitely worth the $8 (student price) to go in to. My friends and I spent about an hour here and from the looks of it they also have venues to host a variety of parties. Im only giving it four stars simply because it is a one-and-done museum for me at least, the entire museum makes up a decent sized warehouse, but there was not much to bring me back a second time.
An enjoyable morning was spent here. Our 10 & 6 year old grandsons had a great time here imagining themselves as adults on the helicopters. The volunteer staff were very informative and helpful.
Great how many different copters they have brought to one place. My wife was interested in the exhibit about early women pilots. My grandson liked the ones he could climb in.
I was pleasantly surprised at seeing so many different types of helicopters here, and how they were displayed. The guide we had was also excellent, giving us a presentation that was filled with so much history and information, and presenting it in a way that had us laughing and easily understanding the way propellers and rotors worked, how air moved, and how these machines flew.
Theyve become much more kid friendly and they have really fun events!
We attended a childs birthday party here on a Saturday. Its a nice sized museum with a good variety of aircraft indoors and out. There are a number of interesting exhibits throughout, like a cutaway (piston) engine that you can rotate by hand to see the moving parts, aircraft that you can walk through, and several that you can sit in and work the controls. The larger aircraft are outside and you can walk around them.It was a great place for a kids birthday party; they have a play room and another room where you can serve food and cake. The museum backs up to the West Chester airport and you can watch planes (and helicopters) take off and land.
Super cool and informative inside. Definitely recommend to anyone
My grandson loves the helicopter museum. We will be back for sure
Took my little brother here at 3PM on a Saturday to the museum and they were closed despite having hours listed until 5PM their website as well as no indication of early closing online on their calendar. As we were leaving, another group of people also showed up to the closed museum. It was pretty dissapointing for my brother, because he was excited to see the helicopters.
Very nice place to bring your kids, a lot of information about helicopters.
A great place to learn a lot about helicopters. They also have pre-scheduled dates for helicopter rides ($60 per person).
Very cool place to be at, You can get inside the cockpit of helicopters and feel like you are actually flying them. The only problem I have is that most of the Helicopters that you can get in have this weird smiley face on it, I mean if youre a kid that wants to feel like theyre in a helicopter I dont think you would want to have a gigantic smiley face thing in youre way when you are trying to pretend to fly it. Other than that i would recommend this place to visit.
Nice collection, with a few oddities. V22 is cool.
Great exhibits! Even had a CH-46 which is the type of aircraft I worked on when I was in the service.
Cool place to take the kids, plenty of photo opportunities. Nice place to make memories!
One of the best places in the area with a living history of rotary aircraft flight. There are literally dozens of aircraft on display including one of the first V-22 aircraft on static display. Great place to spend an afternoon learning about these wonderful inventions!
Great place to see the same stuff thats down in Washington but without all the crowds! Up close and personal is the best way to describe the layout of the displays. There are a few copters that you can climb into to feel like a pilot! The museum can accommodate adults as well as kids of all ages. My wife and I wandered around for about an hour or so. For $10 its a great value. When you are done, the center of West Chester is 5 minutes down Rt3 for a host of places to get something to eat. I can recommend Gramms Kitchen. Nice home made entrees ! Crab cake and mac/cheese made to order! Yum.
Great museum plenty of helicopters and knowable staff. Will go back
Fun, informative museum about Helicopters throughout history, and lets you sit in and explore several of them. Also has a good play room, great for kids! My son lights up when we tell him were going to the huppaduppa museum.
Nice small museum. Great volunteers. Nice to be able to walk through some of the units. Take the kids!
Great fun place!
We went for Father’s Day because my husband loves helicopters. It was a fun filled day. Lots to see and do. Even a car show. We loved the drones! We will definitely go back for future events!
We had a wonderful time visiting with Santa!
Nice place! They have a lot of cool helicopters to see
This was a neat place to visit. Smaller than we expected but had lots of helicopters inside.
Cool little museum. Always wanted to go and wasnt disappointed.
Took the helicopter ride too, and we all enjoyed it.
Great spot. Take your time and explore the exhibits and models!
Hosted our sons birthday party here. Great place for kids. The staff was great and Mr. Jim was so nice with the kids and really got them all involved. Great place for a party or a visit. The kids loved learning about the helicopters today!
Always a wonderful experience. Good for adults and kids. For mom nearby is QVC headquarters showroon and studio
Went here for FatherFest on Fathers Day. Wide variety of things to do, and on display, antique cars, live falcon demonstrations, etc. Need more food trucks or other options though.
Visited with our grandson who had a great time. In addition to all of the helicopters, there is a play area for kids, which our grandson loved.
We were at the American Helicopter Museum for a fathers day event. Though the weather was hot my kids enjoyed being able to get into the helicopters. Because it was a special event they also had a bouncy house, other air filled things for kids to play on, and plenty of food venders. They also incorporated a car show. Overall it was a good time.
So much to see within a relatively small space + kid friendly
Small but fun museum for kids. Theres a small play area as well. My three year old had a great time sitting in some of the helicopters!
Very interesting. It was something i thought Id get around to. Now that Ive been there, Id go back. There is a lot of history. (Personally, i dont know they climb in them). AMAZING PLACE!
My husband and I visited the Helicopter Museum. Very cool to see helicopters up close.
Great museum with lot of helicopter history.
Went to a party. Was great
Loved the Museum, I have always wanted to fly and this is the 1st step. A most see for all ages
Fascinating place. All you want to know about helicopters. Nice guides too
What can I say, I like history and I like machines. I like that they have veterans there who know all about the military helicopters. And whoever the guy was who showed me the wing from the manpowered helicopter on the ceiling and then continued to explain how the whole thing worked was awesome, if it werent for him my boys would have missed something great.
Great place full of history. The docents are knowledgeable and I gather most are pilots. Bring the kids.
Very nice experience with my grandchildren.
Some pretty cool exhibits. Great for adults, but taking a 10 years old ?? They get bored in about one hour. Leave the kids home ..go on a rainy day and take your time reading all info about some very interesting exhibits.
Great time. good displays. Staff very helpful
This museum hosts some gorgeous replicas and offers a variety of interactive displays focusing on rotary wing aviation. Additionally, their state of the art viewing room offers a place to hold your event complete with a huge projection screen. A must see with over 40 models.
An awesome, fun little place for the family. My children 13, 5, 3 loved their visit. You cant beat being able to climb on/in helicopters, can you?
Very nice place.. Small but a good outing
Great place for kids
Great place awesome people!!
Very happy, learned slot about helicopters..
Neat educational spot for all ages, history of helicopters how they work, what they are used for.Never knew that Philly area was such a hot bed for helicopter development
Great little museum. Very interesting. A lot of history about helicopters. Helicopters on display are restored beautifully!
Good place for Kids, also try that Helicopter simulator.
Came here twice and we absolutely loved it.
Pretty interesting. Lots of events going on. Cool Helicopters, real except for someone weird blowup snowmen. Just sorta boring to do more than once. Maybe an annual family activity.
