I just wanna say that even though I’m just a teen that this place is amazing and perfect for family time and making friends and also just overall having a great time. Defiantly coming back one day if I ever get the chance. The staff is also amazing and very nice and reasonable with their rules and procedures. I though don’t see why there is so many negative ratings and negative reviews when this is an awesome place with wonderful staff. Thanks again Sk8way Staff and owner for a great time.
We didnt skate, but the rink looks great! My son was allowed entry for FREE to the bounce houses as he is 15 months old. They have a bounce house just for toddlers. Great indoor entertainment in Haywood county! The location is a bit further out for us (from Canton), but was perfect for meeting family from Franklin (met in the middle).
I love the skating rink I go there every weekend all the staff are great and I get to get out of my house for awhile and go with my friends, thank u for the experience
Im beyond upset, drove 30 minutes to get here and then paid 21 to skate at 6 for the bounce house and a few min after we got skates my son was way to scared to skate and so I asked about a refund and the lady said she cant shed get in trouble come to find out she was the OWNER then gave me a free pass to come back, I wasnt happy cause I definitely didnt want to come back and on the way out said if I give the pass back that shed refund me and tried to give me 10 cash back when I paid almost 30 and she said that was for the skates and that weve been here awhile(only sitting around cause my friend was here) my son didnt even use the bounce houses and they all were super rude as I was leaving! Definitely never coming back and telling EVERYONE so they can save their money and timePt2. I wish I was exaggerating below is the bank statement, also he bounced for less than 60 seconds and skated for less than 3 minutes, the whole time was spent walking around so no we didnt really use your services
So fun for the family. I forgot how much I enjoyed the skating rink. I will say this, God help your feet! The rental skates leave much to be desired in the comfort dept. This place has all you need to have a good time. Even little skate helpers( walkers)to help the little ones starting out. They do not allow ANY food or drink from outside into the place. They serve food and drink and their prices are not outrageous. I dont blame them. They have to make a living somehow. Go check it out
Did my daughters 11th bday here was the best yet! Our hostess Lisa was on top of our needs seemed like everytime we needed her she was there checking up on us!lovely staff and Super fun! By far the best place I have been at around here for parties. Good pricing as well. Dont forget to tip your hostess!
My son was rowdy at first and owner politely told him to be nice to momma and to behave so he can stay i was so grateful here soul is so kind. it was like growing up when us kids lesoned to all adults i felt so grateful and he was good there today i honestly had time of my life today . cant wait till date night with my boo . and another family day
Staff was very friendly and helpful with my 2 kids. We are visiting from Orlando and have never been to a skating rink before they needed the helpful skating assistance contraption, the one staff member really did his best to tell her how to use the skates but then decided to use the trainer skates instead so that she would feel more comfortable. It really helped give her confidence for the rest of the time then. Place was clean and the kids had a fun time, we were the last ones to leave. Thanks for a fun afternoon
Smoky mountain sk8way and their staff were awesome! I havent been on skates in almost 2 decades but I had a blast relearning those skills. I even purchased my own set of quad skates!
The place was fun with a arcade I was there for a school dance my friend opened the scab on his knee and had a little blood on his leg and was told he could not skate and was forced to remove the skates and clean his knees. He was later allowed back on the rink. Oh and by the may the owner would to well as a slave trainer the way she yells and overexaggerated everything.
This is a community staple! I drive from Asheville to the Sk8way on a regular basis to enjoy a huge variety of events here. They have adult skate night on Thursdays, holiday themed parties, and great private birthday parties! Its very kid friendly space and has inflatables and games if skating just isnt your thing. This is the kind of place that had embedded itself into the community and WNC would not be the same without it.
Fun place. Great for kids. I would have given five stars, if it wasnt for one of the employees being rude to my family every time we go.
Very nice skate rink. Clean! Was very popular and fun. Nice stereo, nice floor, nice owners and staff. Have a couple bounce houses and games also. Small hot bar for snacks.
Had a great experience at the skating rink! Loved it! Will be back as much as I can! Also Daniel helped me so much! Helped me get across the rink without getting hit by the fast skaters! Thank you sk8way and Daniel and Josh! See yall soon.
Rachel and Lisa are the best! They are always willing to help and are very fun to be around. They keep me coming back!
The manager or owner was horribly mean since the moment we arrived. I was there celebrating my birthday and ended up leaving early because the manager was so rude. She body shamed me (a full figured woman) for showing a small amount of cleavage with my shirt which had a jacket over top. She made me feel so uncomfortable that I left immediately. Unprofessional unaccommodating and completely backwards and way behind the times. We live in America where women should be allowed to wear what we want and not shamed for our bodies.
Im not sure why there are even negative reviews on this rink. Are you people talking about the right one? People complaining about money need to realize that it costs money to keep the rink open and running. Theres rent, electricity, water, food, equipment, repairs, etc. Im sure there are taxes and building fees that we are unaware of. So letting you skate for free doesnt benefit anyone. Quit complaining. :)I have witnessed the transformation of this rink first hand since Ive been coming here since the beginning. It went from a small, choppy, concrete skating rink alone to an awesome, smooth, wooden floor (which I can promise you hurts a lot less than concrete when you fall) with an arcade, inflatables, snack bar, prize counter, etc even the sound system and lighting has upgraded! I am always impressed when I havent been in awhile and come back to see the newest upgrades. Jolynn is a great person and does a great job keeping this a safe, family friendly place to have fun. I even had my baby shower here and now my baby girl is learning to skate and jumping in the bouncy house! This is my favorite place to hang out in my free time, my second home. :)
Wonderful, family friendly place! It was our first time, and we had a blast! The staff did fun skate contests and were very involved. The reason for 4 stars is the environment was hot and we were covered in sweat, and there werent enough pool sticks for the tables they had. Jumpy houses were fun, but dated and the rock climb is designed for about 8 and under, and that wasnt told to us until the kids were playing on it. Other than that, a great place to take the kiddos!
Its was clean, friendly, the rentals seem to be in good shape. Its a smaller rink, not sure what material it is thats being skated on, but its smooth and well maintained.
Had so much fun
I have not been on skates in 26 years!!! I am over 40 now, & I had a great time at Sk8way. We brought friends & kids. The prices were really low, I think $11 total for me ($8 for adult ticket plus $3 for skate rental) It was a very busy Saturday night. We saw super fast skaters & bouncers and there were just beginners...there were assigned areas to your level of experience, so you felt safe in the place you were designated. The music was great, there were games hosted on the rink floor like Limbo and a Speedskating round. and a Couples Only Skate. What I appreciated the most were the Skate Guides, wearing referee shirts, to help inexperienced folks (like me) enter the floor without gettting run over by the fast skaters. They were all so friendly, kind & offer tips to help you skate better. Josh was our favorite! He was very sweet and gave us other times to come back for more individualized attention, (on slower days). The food options were good and affordable . We had pizza, nachos and rootbeer floats! The music was modern, with a mix of some good throw backs. The lights and haze (fog) added to the club-like atmosphere. There is a Fun-Zone arcade area off to the side which I did not visit, but was a nice alternative to younger kids who might be tired of skating. There are lockers for your belongings and the bathrooms were clean. As we were leaving several staff members smiled and thanked us for stopping in. I will definitely be back, now that I have gotten the hang of skating again....kind of! Thank you again Josh for making our night safe and enjoyable.
I had my 11 yr old daughters party here yesterday and Sk8way exceeded our expectations! First, the pricing was great for a large party. We had a party of 15. 2nd our party hostess Lisa was absolutley great! She stayed on top of everything and made sure this event was as stress free as possible. Kudos to Lisa!!! Skate referees are great too, looking out for safety of everyone, even taking time to teach a few pointers. Im sure we will be back next year for another party and on the weekends, 30 min drive to us is worth it. Owner is great and takes pride in her rink. Please remember to tip your hostess if you have a party here. They deserve it!! And be sure to thank the owner for having a great rink. You can tell she takes pride in her business and ensuring her patrons have a safe, clean, fun environment for all. Thanks again to all at Sk8way!
Big shoutout to Josh for helping us out when we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. You are awesome!!!!
Adult night roller skating on Thursdays is great fun....not too crowded and great music!!
We (myself, my 70yo mother, my daughter, a friend, and his 6yo) had a wonderful experience at Sk8way, and will definitely return! My 11yo was very nervous at first...Alex and Josh did a fantastic job at interacting with, and encouraging the kids, while also keeping the rink safe and fun for everyone. By the end of the day, she was cruising (even dancing a little) around the her laps, with me and my mother. Such a fun, healthy, community-oriented, non-screen related activity for all! Dave and Dawson were incredibly aware and attentive when they noticed me clumsily rolling by in my fresh out of the box skates. Dave offered to adjust my skates (which made a world of difference!), and gave me lots of helpful, newbie pointers. The kind and knowledgable staff of Sk8way truly made our family skate adventure one that we will repeat...and we will happily make the drive from Asheville to support this business.
Such an awesome experience and Josh helped my kid so much! It was his first time!
We love coming here with our family it is such a fun place to take you kids
Had my daughters birthday there tonight and i will tell you it was AMAZING everyone had a great time kids and adults so we will definitely be going back
Great place for our twin girls to get healthy exercise and socialize in a safe environment.
I absolutely loved this skating rink and so glad to have one semi close. The rink is super clean and the staff is great. The only problem I had that its almost not big enough and small children are on the rink making it hard to skate. Almost wish they had a small rink for beginners. They do however have an adult night which is nice.
My 9 year old daughter asked me for a sip of her slushy. She had been holding on to the wall because she had never been skating before. I took the slushy to her, not thinking much of it, when a staff member pushing around a trash can takes her drink out of her hand and places it on the table. He told her if she wanted to drink her slushy she had to sit at the table. I was upset because someone going around the tables picking up trash and pushing the trash can around, I dont believe, was not the most sanitary thing he could have done. He could have said something to me and I would not have had any issues to have my daughter sit down. I also had my 16 and 13 year olds skating when my 9 year old daughter asked if she could go look around the game room with her friend. I gave her permission to look around the last 10 minutes before closing. I finished cleaning off our table and went to check on my daughter. All of a sudden a woman asked them if they had wrist bands and that they were not allowed to be there at the bouncy house. Again, if the tone would have been friendly instead of scolding it not have bothered me.This was my first time taking my children and at Fun Depot they have signs regarding the prices and rules. I was not aware that there was a fee for the bouncy house, which I do not mind paying for. I am a strong believer of doing the right thing and paying for things. This includes not lying about my childrens age just to save a buck on movie tickets or going out to eat, fair is fair. I work with patients every day and I strive to provide excellent patient care. So for me customer service is very important.Update: I did think it was nice at first because you all were celebrating a ladys birthday, who was the lady at the front that took my payment. I only saw the dress code at the window. There might have been other signs, but I was trying to hurry since on my GPS got us lost at first and it took us to some other road. We ended up having to call my daughters friend to give us directions. As for the guy who claimed there was not a parent around you should be able to see on the cameras that I was there near the tables. I was cleaning up our area only a few steps from where my daughter was. I watched everything happen from the second he was skating with the trash can, to him turning around, grabbing my daughters drink, and putting it on the table where we were at.The bouncy area was only the last 10 minutes before closing and again it is the way we talk to people. I am a mother of four with the youngest being four months old and I know I appreciate great service. At a restaurant the food doesnt have to be superb, but if it is good food with great service we go back more often then not. A smile goes a long way.
We drive all the way from Franklin. Worth the trip, always clean and safe. Great people, good fun.
The skating rink was as expected. How ever one of your crew members stood out. One of the refs his name was Josh. By Helping my family. He will be one of the reasons I will be returning.
Decent facility. Only skating rink in Western NC. Staff was super helpful and kind EXCEPT the DJ/skate lady. Every interaction she had with young skaters she fussed to them about being in the way of experienced skaters and even over the PA system. We were really shocked. Our kids cant skate but love to try when we take them. They felt like they were in trouble any time they tried to come off the rink or go back to their designated skating area. We went on a Friday night and it didnt seem welcoming to beginner skaters. They really catered the activities to experienced skaters. The only plus are the $5 skate mates you can rent to help stabilize young skaters.
Great place I go every weekend now the staff is very nice especially lisa, josh and Dave :)
Great indoor, family-friendly, fun option for the area. Its got a roller rink, a few bouncy houses and an arcade area. Our kids love it, but if your child is easily overwhelmed this might not be the place. It can get loud, there are lots of flashing lights, and theres a lot going on most of the time. Otherwise a highly recommended option, especially on a day where the weather isnt great!
The staff was amazing everyone was so nice especially Daniel, he was very polite and funny.
Had alot of fun! Everyone was so nice.
We love skating there, you can feel the owners love for skating too!
Cool spot. Clean with good sound and good lighting
Me and my friend went and we got 139 small toy frogs and thanks to Rachael we did not get cheated we got exactly how many frogs we deserved she should get a raise
The Sk8way of Waynesville is a great place for families and friends to gather with several activities to choose from - roller skating to arcade games and bounce houses. This Halloween 2019 was fantastic at the Sk8way, as the kids of Haywood County had an opportunity to Trick-or-Treat in warmth and comfort, away from the rain, wind, and cold.
This place rocks. You can feel the love for skating that went into this space. The owner perhaps a lifelong skater now ensuring this family fun tradition survives our immediate gratification, consumption society. Thanks for all you do to keep the music playing, a amazing space to keep the bounce skate alive.
I’ve enjoyed the times that I’ve spent here! Good service, good food, and a load of fun!
Fun place, good music, welcoming, and the people that work there are super nice!
Had a blast for my daughters 7th birthday!
Some of the staff is friendly, and others not so much. Some of the men who supervise the play area are quite rude to the children playing on the equipment. The place would be much more enjoyable if the kids were allowed to climb on the climbing structure, and bounce on the bounce house. If you are so concerned about kids getting hurt on your play structures, than either get rid of it, or make parents sign a waiver. Making little kids leave in tears is not a good way to generate return business.
Super fun place!!!
I went skating for my first time over there and loved it
Great spot to take a crowd. Great owners as well!!
Great memories. 10/10
This place is awful. Incredibly rude staff. Unorganized. Don’t waste your money. And yes, I’m that lady whose husband was intermittently picking up our toddler who was in the middle of a full blown temper tantrum while trying to get around the rink...You’re well aware of that since you looked me up on Facebook and sent me a message Rude staff all around from the moment we walked in the door. No thanks.
Awesome place to have fun and get exercise too! Clean friendly family fun and on thursdays adults only skating in the evening. Go out and give it a try!
Great place for the kids and for adults if you like to skate and joe is awesome and really cares about all the kids that come there
Love skating. She’s redone the whole place n has it looking nice. Prices are a bit high for access to both play areas and a trainer skate bar for kids is 5 each. But establishment fees are hefty so it’s gotta come from somewhere.
Such a wonderful group of staff!!! Took the family and had a great time!!! Clean rink!! We felt very welcomed.
Great place to bring the family! Kids have so much to do even if they dont want to skate the whole time, and food is good.Adult night on Thursdays is nice and laid back, and every other day their open is fun!Games like roller limbo, and the dice game is so much fun! I cant wait to go back! Its time to bring back Roller Skating!
Great atmosphere! Fun lights, nice people, and good music! Super clean bathrooms.
Got a love this place its a must go
The kids had a pretty good time. I could tell that we were the outsiders in the small town. I think everyone else knew each other. The girls at the party were typical 12 year olds. They were a little loud and excited. Right before we cut the cake, we were asked not to smear it all over the walls?!?! Who does that? I guess some kids do. I was shocked that the $230 package for 15 kids only comes with 2 of the smallest pizzas I think I’ve ever seen. So we had to buy 4 more at $10 a piece. Then my 17 year old bought one for himself. I should have taken them to a restaurant before we went. They were starved and thirsty when we left! We drove from an hour away and was hoping for a great time, but left a little disappointed. I think it’s a good place if you live there and have quiet, young kids. Probably not a place to bring outsiders that are preteen or teens.
Great family fun. Staff is attentive and willing to answer any questions. The music brought me back...... Good times.
Great for kids...but...we grandparents try to do active things with grandchildren and now being charged for one grandparent...
Nice and not too busy for a Saturday night. Great floor and family friendly. We will be back again for cheap family fun and entertainment. Birthday girl is having a blast!!
I went skating the other day,so clean, fun games, this is an awesome place to skate and also music Im coming over today and staying till 8:00
Lots of fun for the whole family and something new to try or at least something you probably havent done in a long time, staff is nice and try to keep control of the kids inside, inexpensive fun for a Friday or Saturday night.
I enjoyed my first time there last night! I’ happy they have an Adult Night I will definitely be returning because I just love to skate ️ I appreciate that there is a board of improvements/upgrades that are going to be made because the floor wasn’t the best but overall, I’m glad I found the place!
Jolynn is wonderful at making sure this place is family friendly. We always feel welcome there, and we do not have to worry about our younger children being exposed to anything inappropriate there.
Great staff and place to enjoy your family and friends. Great prices for a good night of skating
Kids had a lot of fun! Nice place, clean too! Thanks!
Owners was rude when I suggested different music for adult night .I was threatened to shut up by the staff. Some young employee verbally confronted me . My wife taught roller derby there FOR FREE, a few years back, was crushed and broke her leg. Jolyn never offered condolences, I love to skate, I have been treated the worst by the owner .
This place is great for the whole family. Everyone is so helpful. We will be coming back.
I had fun but I cant skate
Attended a kids birthday party in September and was honestly impressed. The rink was clean, well kept, as was the party area and arcade/game area. From my experience, there were a few things that could have been improved: 1) the staff did not communicate to the family that outside food could not be brought in. I know this is pretty standard wherever you go (due to liability) 2) Pizza and drinks werent ready when they called the kids off the rink to begin the party. It took about 20 minutes to get pizza to the table 3) Several party guests over age 12 were told they had to pay at the door, despite the family telling management that they would cover anyone that wanted to skate...not a big deal for me, but one guest who was maybe 13 was disappointed. Otherwise a good experience, and well definitely be back.
Always enjoyable watching my son and others have fun on the floor
Family friendly end up there a few times a year
Very nice and kid friendly
Great staff, lots of fun. Ive been going to Smoky Mountain Sk8way for years and have never had a bad visit. One thing that I really like is that things are priced individually (at very reasonable prices) so customers can pick and choose what they want to do. My son usually plays on the bounce houses during our visits, while my daughters skate. Everyone in my family leaves happy!!
This place is very nice, laid out well and definitely a place I would recommend taking your WHOLE family no matter the age.
Such a great place for my girls to skate and play! Great friendly experienced staff & super great prices! We love it!
Fun spot for kids and to have birthday parties.
Afraid they will lose a dollar and rude!
It sure is green lol. The staff is amazing, and the summer camp keeps the kiddos busy! The owner is funny as all get out, believe that!
Just save the money! Floor is painted plywood. Also cracking in a few place and they tried to kick me out after i complained. Dis not raise my voice or curse at them. Just did not agree with-pricing for the skate mate at 5$ per hour!!!!! Yeah not family friendly at all. Save money there are better places
Great place. Lots of family fun. Very friendly owner.
Remolded better than ever alot of my friends have birthday partys here!
I went with a church group of mostly beginner skaters. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and the owners were generous by giving us discounts and extra skating time! Wonderful atmosphere and great fun!!
Really enjoyed homeschool skate today! Family had a great time!
Love taking my kids skating. Its very kid friendly and great atmosphere for all ages.
Thanks for providing a safe place for our family nights out. Joe is awsome. Good clean fun
Drove there from sylva and arrived well before 5. The woman told us it would be the 8 dollar per person charge (6 o clock price.) When I showed concern she asked you only plan on skating for an hour? If they want to charge 8 dollars per person before 5 that should be stated on the website and the door!
Went with a group of friends (adults) and had a great experience until “regulars” of the rink were being very inconsiderate of small children and other inexperienced skaters. Complained to the manager/owner after one of the “regular” skaters kept knocking people down including one of the guys in our group. Complaining honestly did no good, management did not want to address the problem in the correct manner. If you have small child or are inexperienced and just looking to have a good time with friends this is not the place to go. Very disappointed and will not be back .
Closed on Sunday despite the hours listed otherwise in Google. Wasted an hour to drive to nowhere only to have the place closed down without similar alternatives for the kids.
Overall a nice skating rink. Could be a cool place for college kids to hang out if they played better music.
The place is service oriented. We have taken large groups to skate and our youth loved the place.
