This WAS a terrific rec center for the community and for a few it may be but for ALL the reasons I joined NONE of them exist anymore. This is prior to Covid so that excuse isnt valid! They have procrastinated on repairs and given so many lame excuses that I dont care if they close! I guess basketball is the only sport for community centers... I hope they get better and learn the surrounding peoples needs and wants. Isnt that the framework for a community center?

Great people. Doing their best to stay alive during these crazy times. And when they were open, very reasonable rules and prices.You really cant go wrong with trying out Hype fitness.

Love this place. Pool is fun and relaxing, nice basketball courts, and everything you need in the gym. Friendly staff and an overall great environment.

My kids and gf and i love this place the pool is cold at 1st but once you get in its so relaxing. One thing tho if its summer time be sure to have a pair of sandals/flip flops that wasnt worn outside. They even dont want outside ones in the winter time.

What a great facility! The staff is welcoming and the gym is very clean. It doesn’t look big from the outside but this place is huge, so much to do .

The life guard on duty was completely rude, yelling at my son for something he didnt do, made both my children cry. Got loud with me when he called my 7 yr old over to tell him to not do something that he didnt do so I defended him cause he was no where near the area the life guard was. The life guard is an old man. If you plan on going there to swim better plan on hearing a whistle every 3 seconds n your children being screamed at. Never will we be back.

Facility is well maintained. Faculty is helpful most times. Pool area temp is comfortable. Decent place for meetings/gatherings, parties. They have several banquet rooms. There is a concession stand there as well: a little pricey. Gym is really nice, equipment is maintained. Workout room has your basics: not that big though. Parking is decent when theres no tournaments. Very nice parks very close by. Decent quick restaurants such as. Little Caesars and Happys pizza very close and seven eleven.

Attended a birthday pool party here. The party was from 430 to 630. So it was assumed by the birthday childs parents swimming was the entire part of the party. Nope. Tried to go into the pool st 545 and was rudely informed that the pool was.closed at 530. I explained we were with the party going timm 630. Thinking it was closed to general admittance maybe. She said ya they get till 630 but we close the poll at 530. Poor party kids got a half hour to swim as food was here at 5 because the parents had no.clue swimming ended half way through the party. Many heartbroken and crying kids at the party. Thanks Wayne rec center. Next time maybe it needs to be told to the party parents what time the pool closes so they can plan accordingly in their party activities.

I just got the New Years Special for 20.19 a month, what a steal for what Hype has to offer. Real clean facility and staff greeted me with kindness. I also have access to the one in Dearborn Hts. Wow what an amazing workout area. I would recommend.

Horrible experience. Lifeguard was rude and disrespectful to our children. Absolutely ruined our play time with old friends. Two of our kids were so scared of this staff member and his abnoxious whistle that they wouldn’t get in the water. The lead lifeguard scolded the children repeatedly for nothing and banned them from the slide because the little 8 year old kids couldn’t see him (bc he sitting down while he was supposed to be monitoring his station) put his thumb up and took an extra few seconds to come down the slide. The lifeguard dove around in the water like a fish did cannon balls with children nearby, came down the slide backward and ran into one of our kids when he came down the slide as he did not ensure the path was clear before coming down erratically. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

The pool area is much warmer than my last visit, but they charge you $3 to use a debit card. Most expensive processing fee Ive ever seen. I dont support shady greedy companies. Put on your website prices and fees. Ill probably start taking the longer drive to canton.

Here is my gratitude to my first job..I worked at the Hype Athletics and the people behind the scenes were amazing and I have the admin and supervisors to thank for their patience and teaching me,all credit is due to them, all I gotta say to hype athletics is thank you for everything

I wish I could provide an actual experience. I tried to sign my daughter up for gymnastics via information from the website but when I called they said it wasnt up to date and they had no new spring schedule. Why not up date your system?

Well never truely know how it is there, thanks to the 30 min wait on hold when i called to get the pricing for non-residents . Not very friendly ppl answering the phones and never got an answer about ANY prices .Bummer i will have to take my kids father away but maybe its for the best .Go big $ or go home, SPLASH UNIVERSE HERE WE COME !

I WAS TOLD BY A VERY RUDE STAFF MEMBER THAT I COULD NOT BE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO WAS TAKING A FIELD TRIP THERE FROM A MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY FOR A HALLOWEEN DANCE! THIS IS MY LAST EVER TIME I WILL SET FOOT IN THIS BUILDING!

This athletic, recreation and conferencing facility is well run and ofganized. Reasonable rates for rooms whether you are holding a community event or a baby shower. The staff is fully engaged with the community. Pleasant atmosphere. Up to date exercise equipment and facilities. A safe place for children and families.

This is the best recreation and fitness center/gym Ive been to. The facility is always kept clean and sanitized, and the employees take care of the equipment and locker rooms daily. The most helpful and friendliest staff workers that will go the extra mile to make your visit the best possible. Also its very affordable compared to other places and with what they have to offer. The steam room and sauna is awesome. Special thanks to Rob, Moe, and Ali; you guys are the best and I wouldnt be where Im at today without you guys. I appreciate you and what you do for others. We need more of this in the world. Ty

The life guard is rude and disrespectful to my kids and myself.He yells at kids for no reason and he put my child on time without my permission (He had no right to do that) accusing my son of run while he did not! NEVER GOING back there!!!

Love this place and how there’s a private area for only women

I highly suggest that you do not visit the pool at this center, because over the summer when I came here, I only expected to have a fun time in the water. Instead, I was unfortunately met with the experience of nearly drowning. While I understand that my specific experience was not necessarily the fault of the establishment, absolutely none of the lifeguards surrounding me payed any attention to my cries for help and thrashing about in the water. If they had just payed for attention to the actual situation in the pool, which was incredibly crowded to the point where it seemed like the capacity was overfilled, then maybe I wouldnt have had to stay in the emergency room until 2 in the morning.

Excellent recreational area with almost everything including fitness center, pool, water slides, Zumba classes, dance classes ....the list goes on. Great staff and clean restrooms. The mens locker area is little smelly but manageable. Easy access and ample parking

Im always greeted nicely when i walk in, always clean in the workout areas, I love the fact that they have a mentoring program.

Great place. Pool is awesome. Ball courts are great. Best place for b-day parties. Gym is perfect. Love the sauna and steam room.

Very clean! Great staff! Lots of excercise equipment, a track, basketball court and wonderful exercise classes! Glad its so close to home. The prices are reasonable too! Looking forward to trying out water aerobics!

The staff at the Hype center rejected me and my guest this morning, never experienced what I did from the facility manager Brian Haddad. Been coming to Hype since January every Saturday morning and will never return to this facility.I would recommend Romulus Rec Center any day, staff actually welcomes you, facility is a lot nicer, equipment availability, prices are cheaper, and they except diverse groups of people.

Went here to swim for the first time today & it was super duper run down but still a good time... Well worth the $5.00!I would swim here again!

Ive never been here before yet, but Im coming to the Christmas party. I also heard that this place is good.

Very nice pool area and b-ball courts. Seems a bit unorganized. A boot camp was canceled and nobody at the front desk knew about the cancellation. Also Ive witnessed children running and playing in the work out area.A little more organization and rule enforcement would help improve the guests experience.

Community Center next to a kids park..... Dont have public restrooms.. Hard pass. Never again.

Facility is clean and well maintained. Very professional and respectful staff. Ive even seen the CEO of HYPE grabbing a mop and cleaning the lobby... talk about humble.

Very nice. The staff was very helpful and polite. They keep an eye on all the children. It is very clean too overall a great experience

Went here for a baby shower and there was another one happening next door. They were very loud and unruly. We asked them 3 times to quiet down and they continued. We finally asked management to step in, they were quiet for a little while and got loud again. I know not to have a event here, since the walls are too thin for two events to coexist.

Had a great time. They have lots of community events. Lots of activities for little kids. They have good food

They advertise lap swim from 6 AM to 11 AM but rarely have more than two lanes open due to aqua aerobics class.

I love what HYPE does for the community. At a loss of words for what a beautiful organization this truly is.

It was such a clean and professionally organized recreational center. I recommend this place for both children and adults.

Would like to see more pictures of the pool but i guess i will just have to go up their n check it out n it would be nice if they could up date the website tell us more about their prices n events... but all in all i used to go swimming here as a kid n havent been there for 17 yrs.cant want to go back n see if it changed or not sense i moved..

First time taking my kids to the pool since Hype took over. Will never take them there again. Lifeguards are an absolute joke. Clearly not in the required fitness level. If the lifeguards were near the water at all it was working on the ass print in their chair in very poor location choices for watching several kids. If parents take their kids here to swim its up to YOU to keep them safe cause I highly doubt they are really CPR certified. Lifeguards are absolutely useless.

The gym is very old and outdated rips and tears in mostly all the workout machines. The gym room is full of old equipment the atmosphere is just very outdated in the gym. The pool area changing/locker rooms are dirty and molded. The pool area was semi clean.

Got told I couldn’t hug my fiancé because we weren’t “in a relationship”. So they were being bias and assumed we weren’t a couple for whatever reason. We couldn’t even get our money back for the 20 minutes we were actually in the pool. All they gave us was a free drink. Very unprofessional at handling themselves.

Nice basketball court with 6 hoops and friendly staff! Going there again for sure! Lacking are the prizes for drinks (1$ water 2$ gatorade) and sometimes the competition but maybe that was just a problem on that day.

This place is garbage and the owner is a slum lord, whos probably using the non-profit status to embezzle tax dollars. I went mostly for the pool, which is filthy. Swimming laps, I can see the piles of hair and other forms of human filth accumulated at the bottom of the deep end. The locker rooms are untidy, the benches falling over from rusty, rotten foundations, and only three of the showers actually work. On top of is, the pool staff (i.e. One gentleman in particular) is a nasty spirited, rude, cussing, and inappropriate life guard who runs his own side business by training women donning SWEAT SUITS (Ive reported this issue to the state citing infection and sanitation) in the shallow end of the pool, where they run into other swimmers and disrupt lap-swim hours. Plus, hes late most days, not unlocking the pool until 20 or 30 minutes past opening time. This place is surreal, the owner unaffected by all of it and if you want to avoid pink eye, or a lifeguard who shouts obscenities like the pool room is his personal sphere, avoid this place.

I work out here daily and every time i come in its always dirty and stinks bad in the gym locker room i dont even wanna jump in that pool the cleaning crew is lazy they dont even clean the machines the sauna stinks bad the carpet in the mens locker room smells bad they said they was gettin all new machines and weights that was a lie over all this gym is not clean as it should be

Theres one bald guy and he is rude to all the young members who plays basketball he always yells at us and I think he should be dealt with he allways threats to kick us out and the rule that no outside food should be gone The overall place is very nice just the attitude of that one worker he always yells at people how have their shirt off when he can ask nicely
