Last year the Steep Canyon Rangers where they sleeper Act of the year. They were awesome. I took my mom there as a gift and she loved it. So kudos do you and your staff.
The Grand Theater is impressive to say the least. The original building, the Grand Opera House, was built in 1899. The Grand Theater opened in 1927 on the same property preserved some of this history and energy and you can feel it inside The Grand Theater. They just dont build them like they once did. The Grand Theater gives off an electric vibe. Its hard to recreate. Ill be back again!
Saw Aretha Franklin here. So personal. So easy. Very helpful and inexpensive!!
Pretty alright place with a variety of entertaining acts and plays. Expensive but worth it if you have the money, if you are looking into a family outing, this would be a great place to take your children. Easily visible from the street and wheelchair accessible, its a great place to go to for anyone.
Nice shows that are inexpensive. The processes could use some updates though. Specifically providing seating charts to customers (maybe in the programs) would save a lot of volunteer time. The seating in the balcony is confusing to follow. Otherwise everything else is great.
We saw Steep Canyon Rangers there. The seating was excellent and the acoustics were very good. And being able to appreciate all musical genres, the bluegrass band was wonderful. Will definitely go again when a show catches my eye.
Sat in the balcony seats, great view! Bar and restrooms up stairs were very convenient and not packed! (Sold out show)
I love that we have a gorgeous venue in Central Wisconsin. Shows at the Grand are lent some extra gravitas as the theater feels like an event destination. Wausau has done a great job revitalizing and rejuvenating the downtown area, and The Grand is smack in the middle of some great restaurants and taverns and shops. Definitely worth the trip to Wausau for an evening. Traffic can get a little hairy in the downtown area, and some of the streets are one way. Plan accordingly.
Only thing I would suggest is get bigger seats. The man who had the seat next to me was not very comfortable. Poor guy wasnt that big but he kept his arms folded across his chest because if he let them down they were lapping over onto both arm rests. I told him he could put his arm on the rest between us but said no. If I were him I wouldnt go to any more programs there. He was a big man but obese.
The Grand is a wonderful facility for performing arts. I just wish they had ability to have more wheelchair accessible parking.
Steep Canyon Rangers were fantastic! Despite getting into town five hours late because their bus slid off the road and was sideswiped by a semi! Thanks for bringing great entertainment to our beautiful Grand Theater!
Great venue to watch a variety of entertainment and performances. Plus close enough to have dinner before or after the performance. Great little gem for the city of Wausau.
Love Them Grand Theater in Wausau. They always have an great variety of shows and events going on. If you’re looking for something different to do, make sure you check out their website and list of events for the year!
We had a marvelous time at the Choir of Men. Thanks for bringing such quality shows.
Very nice, clean, professionally staffed environment! I have been coming here for about 4 years now for dance competitions for my sister and every time it is immaculately cleaned and maintained. On top of that the staff is very friendly and helpful at all times. Great place.
The Grand Theater is a beautiful location to view the performing arts of all kinds!! I have seen stand-up comedy, plays, recitals, and more on this stage! The venues outside of the theater is also very nice, hosting banquets on one side of the theater and an art display on the other. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking to dive into the arts, hoping to see a great live performance, or in need of a well-equiped local venue for an event! The Grand really does have it all.
Nice venue to see an intament show. Saw the band Kansas. The dudes sounded great. Nice bathrooms. Clean. All the people working were helpful and polite.
Best place ever to see a show! There are no bad seats in the house. Great volunteers!
Really great sound for the Audience, very classy art structure and building architecture. Performing here is also very nice, and the staff are supportive.
The concert was wonderful. The volumn was perfect for where our seats were. The Grand Theater is a wonderfully perfect place for a concert like this!
Beautiful theater. Always great shows
The shows Ive gone to have always been enjoyable! I also love the small atmosphere to watch without having to be overwhelmed by people. This is truly a wonderful experience. They also have a great variety of shows from several music genres, plays, comedy and different productions. Walking in you see a beautiful historic entryway that is stunning and makes the experience all the better!
Amazing Production. The Players are so Well rehearsed and the sound system is extremely accurate plus 4 lighting is very good.
Saw Rain, A tribute to the Beatles. It was great. The staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. Acoustics are great. Beautiful building. Seats in the balcony are pretty tight if you are tall.
The atmosphere in this historic theater is wonderful the people that run events are helpful and friendly.
Have never been disappointed there with the shows they have had
I really like coming here to watch shows. Wish I could get here more!
Beautiful, comfortable. Great service.
Beautiful historic building and very friendly staff. Looking forward to coming back for future performances.
Beautiful historic venue in the heart of downtown with a great variety of performances.
Wonderful participation in Winter Fest children loved it
Saw Steep Canyon Rangers facilities and show was excellent
What a great theater, the atmosphere was awesome, the service was fantastic. They greeted us at the door, and the people bartending where so helpful and friendly. Thank you!!!!
Not a bad seat in the house and top notch entertainment that rivals that found in big city venues. Rock of Ages was AMAZING!
Its was a Fashion show, set up was nice and place was clean and friendly people .
I have seen more then one concert there and it was great!!!
Cirque Dreams Holidaze was tremendous. Microphone/mics on singers, not so good.
Great performance of the Russian National Ballet.
Nice theater, however the seats are pretty small and can be uncomfortable for taller folks. Im 6 foot and when I sit down, my knees touch the seat in front of me.
Was a little to warm, but great show
I love seeing concerts at the grand, they have top notch entertainers we normally go for the Christian artist weve seen 10th ave north, jeremy camp and crowder.Beautiful venue, cozy, great acoustics .Bar with yummy cappuccinos. Parking is a bit of a free for all but its very walkable
Excellent venue and staff. Outstanding shows booked.
Always a great overall experience whether watching your daughters 1st ever dance recital, or watching big time comedians (like Ron White!) the Grand Theater has evolved and stayed fresh over time without losing its historic appeal. The recent additions include much needed extra space and a bar for intermission as well as new large bathrooms. It’s a historic piece of Wausau that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Variety of great shows for all ages and interests!
Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff/workers
A great venue with great acoustics for a concert!
Great venue. Staff was very helpful.
Really fun atmosphere. Saw a Matthew West performance, that was fantastic. A few months prior, we saw a local community play, that was so bad, we left at intermission. It was a bummer, Ive always wanted to see West Side Story, absolutely couldnt sit through the horrible performing. But the theater, all in all, is a beautiful theater, the Acoustics for the Matthew West performance were fantastic, and they seem to pull in some really fun acts. Looking forward to the Eagles tribute in February.
Great theater, attracts a lot of great shows.
We had the wonderful privilege to see Finding Neverland. It was truly magical ... A fantastic experience! Were hugely thankful for the Grand Theater and the quality of performances it continues to provide to the Wausau community and the surrounding areas.
I was the violinist for a wedding and dinner at The Grand this past weekend. The setting is beautiful and the staff was organized, helpful and friendly.
Great entertainment, awesome staff of volunteers, completes a well-rounded center of the arts in our community!
Excellent venue (that includes multiple bars and you can drink in the theatre), good to great acts. My favorite place for night out.
Awesome shows! Amazing selection! Fantastic talented performers! Beautiful theatre! Tiny seats.
Had a wonderful experience. Great acoustics and brings back so old memories.
The theater is beautiful and awesome but the Price is Right was not worth the price the show was boring and would never go see it again!
Awesome venue. Have had an excellent experience on all our concerts we have attended.
Our 1st time in this venue for a performance & we loved it. Great seating arrangement & acoustics. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Beautiful theater! Always excellent wait staff and bartenders. I would highly recommend it!
Fantastic old preforming arts theatre. Not a bad seat in the house. The staff is friendly and responsive to any questions you may have. A great smaller venue to see any act. Seating is comfortable.
Went to see TimHawkins. It was amazing! The theater has a very nice charm to it.
Watched a Halloween play there. Its was a great show. Will be seeing it again next year
Comfortable surroundings, great seating, convenient location with plentiful parking. The remodeling and especially the acoustics were incredible. Definitely worth the trip. We drove 140 miles and would do it again for a good show.
Heidis dance program was amazing. Loved It.
Stunning theater in the 400 Block of Wausau. Backstage facilities and available area staff are a big reason they get big tours. The consistent updates to the Great Hall are nice to see. So glad that Wausaus history is being maintained while moving forward.
So beautiful. Our daughters dance competition was held here. I would recommend arriving VERY early to get parking if a large event is being held
A wonderful asset to the community.
Great historic theater! Staff extremely helpful and personable. Be respectful of the performing artists. Some do not permit video being taken.
ABBA Mania event was fantastic
Beautiful, friendly staff & nice gem in downtown Wausau! Plus Symphony on the Rocks w/ Vic Ferrari was amazing!
Great for shows, always a fun time. Variety of great entertainment.
We saw Randy Bachman such an awesome concert ! Absolutely loved it!!! And the Grand Theater was an excellent venue to experience
Crowder tonight at a great venue.
Seating is too tight, The theater chairs are so close that I was rubbing elbows with the woman next to me & we had to share an arm rest. For a 3 hr show it was too confining for me. The show was o.k.
Great time easy to find our seats.. Everyone was very helpful!
Awesome place to see concerts. Not much legroom for tall people
First time there, it was classy and nicely managed to get the crowd to where they need to be.
Great place to see a concert.
This place is bigger and nicer than I expected.
We love seeing performances here, its big enough to get some good performers and small enough to still be cozy!
Beautifully historic with GREAT entertainment
Wonderful atmosphere and timely seating. Great program. Not a bad seat in the house!! Volunteers that were running much of the event were super pleasant and helpful individuals.
Really nice Joe Es Christmas program- also Toys For Tots
Beautiful building, good views of the stage, easy to get around. The only bad thing was the seats are really close together and I have long legs.
Such fun and great decor. We just went to our first show and look forward to returning.
This is an absolutely beautiful part of Wausau s history and we are so very fortunate to have this landmark so close!
Great place for music
Excellent show.
A beautiful, old, well-remodeled theater that has local & national acts at very reasonable prices. Located in downtown Wausau, WI, this theater is over 90 years old - & said to be haunted, too! Order tix as early as possible for best seat selection as it is a smaller theater.
