This is an extraordinary place...we spent 2 1/2 hours there..and could have spent more. The story of Terry Redlin was so interesting. Such a talented man. The staff was so friendly and helpful...a great place to visit!
Beautiful and award winning architecture at the Redlin Art Museum, which contains many of the late Terry Redlin’s original oil paintings. Bought two nice Redlin scenes on stained glass at the gift shop today for my home .The landscaping on the grounds of the facility is Heavenly. Receptionist was very nice too.
Love it! Hope they still have the kids scavenger hunt.
Very beautiful! I highly recommend stopping and enjoying this free galary of one of the best nature artists in the world!
A must see if you are anywhere near Watertown, SD. Its free admission with over 160 original paintings. Incredible tribute to one of the best wildlife painters of our generation.
The pictures were so life like it made us feel we are there
If you like Terry Redlins art this is a must see in Watertown SD
Free admission, beautiful artwork and numerous items in the gift shop. We enjoyed our visit very much!
The museum homes many of Terry Redlins pieces, a theater with a video depicting his life, and 2 gift shops with prints and other memorabilia. There is a lot of information about him and his life, and his paintings are surrounded by clean, beautiful architecture. His amazing paintings show his incredible talents of painting light, perspective, and nature.
Really cool place!!! Really friendly people
Very nice, clean, and staff are incredibly helpful.
Staff was very friendly and helpful keep up the good work
Amazing artist and human being! Watertowns greatest treasure!
Sorry to say we drove 125 miles on Sunday to visit the center thinking it was open from12 to 4 as posted on the website and the entrance but found it closed. Would like to know why. Have visited before and really enjoyed it. Think Redlin is the greatest artist of our time.
Very beautiful and amazing to see every painting Terry Redland made
The paintings are breathtaking, and the staff are very helpful and informative...highly recommended!
We have appreciated Terry Redlins work for a long time. Mr. Redlin was a local Watertown artist. 150 of his original works are housed in this museum, which was designed by his son. It sits on several acres of parkland, ideal for outdoor weddings, photos, or other events. Some of the buildings are available to rent for this. Mr. Redlin had the museum built to house his works as a gift to the people of Watertown. Therefore, there is no admission fee.Guests are free to wander among his works without an escort, and read the descriptions that explain his inspiration for the piece. Guided tours are also available. He has done several series and my favorite is the America the Beautiful series. There is also gift shops where many of his works can be purchased. They will ship to you if you cannot take the piece with you. Weve done that twice and are very pleased with our purchases. Everything arrived in pristine condition. Ordering can also be done from his website.Elevators are available for wheelchairs. If you are from the area, you might recognize several local scenes. But even if you are not, come and enjoy this wonderful place and the slice of Americana that Terry Redlins art is.There is plenty of parking and the restrooms are lovely.
Excellent history of who Terry Redlin really was and what he gave to his community and the entire country.
Beautiful art.. was a random stop. Glad we made it!!
Wonderful place to spend some time.
We were blown away by the sheer number of paintings. It was very interesting to see the artwork from his childhood, all the way to his last painting. He had a talent that amazes me. Plan on spending at least 3 to 4 hours.
The Beautiful pictures, the very helpful person that greeted us at the front door. The Amphitheater put it all in perspective on what kind of a man he was, n what he really cared about. Great...
What alot of amazing art. Our granddaughters thought the scavenger hunt and crossword was cool. That really helped to look at the details in the art.
How can you not rate a free museum anything less than 5 stars? I love walking around the back or has plenty of walkways.
It is an unbelievably awesome stop to visit the art center. And there is no admission fee ever!! Staff was great too. Wonderful place!!
Really nice place to walk around in summer, also very nice building and showcase of Terry Redlins work. Nice experience to go see.
This is a gorgeous art exhibit.... From the building, to the time dated art work, to the lighting, it is a must see gallery/exhibit. It gave the history of Mr. Redlin and many, many pieces of his work from his first dawings until up to current. Also, had a fantastic room dedicated to his wife who came from the early ice cream family.
Beautiful, such a fantastic gentleman.
You could stay all day. Beautiful pictures that draw you in. You could look at a picture for hours and still see something new. You can tell that Redlin grew up in the prairie of eastern South Dakota.
This is by far one of the best art museums I have ever visited. It houses most of his best works as well as some of his early works that are rather crude compared to what he is known for. Also houses drawings sculptures and various other items of interest. Excellent experience all around. I will go back some day
So fun to see Terry Redlins originals and how his career developed. Very impressive collection!
We watched the short video explaining his life and his art. Then walked thru looking at all his art thats on display. His art is amazing. I love his use of light and how three dimensional his art is. It almost looks like you could step into his paintings. A must see if youre in the area. Free admission, so theres no excuse for not going. :)
Staff was very friendly. Displays were beautiful. Gift shop had so many wonderful gift items. Highly recommend to anyone.
Amazing experience. I really didnt know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised! BEAUTIFUL paintings, amazing talent. I would definitely go again if in the area. A must see!
Incredible visit. Plan ahead because you can seriously spend hours here.
Love it every time
My husband & I went here on a drive through South Dakota. It was beautiful. Grounds were manicured, staff was friendly inside. Super clean. Spent over 2 hours walking through seeing everything.
Really enjoy looking at these beautiful paintings every time Im in town. Gift shops are also great! Definitely a must see if you are in the area and appreciate the outdoors.
Beautiful place. Art lined up wonderfully. Tells his story. Highly recommend. Younger children will be bored. But they have a great outdoor space to burn off their energy.
The Redlin center never disappoints! The talent of Terry Redlin was second to none! I own 8 prints and enjoy them daily forever!
The artwork he produced was amazing. You can see the extreme talent in his brush strokes. There are so many paintings to see and admire. They also include a fun game for kids with a cool art set at the end. I would recommend going here if youre in the area.
Breathtakingly beautiful captured moments in time. You can smell the camp fires and feel brisk morning air or warm sultry nights...hear party music spilling out of barns and homes. Anything he painted, you feel as if you are part of the experience- actually there drinking it all in. Take the time! It is well worth it!
Really like the set up. So much to see and the pictures are dated with descriptions to match!! You wont be disappointed.
This has been a favorite stop traveling I29 for 20 years. Love the paintings and gift shop. Also has tourist information for South Dakota.
Wonderful stop off of highway 29. Beautiful free gallery with a little scavenger hunt for kids to enjoy. We didnt have time to walk the grounds, but the paths lead over bridges and around water and looked like a nice walk.Terry Redlins art reminded me of Thomas Kinkade with his portrayal of American life and in the way he captured the light and shadows so accurately. I wish we had more than the 1 hour we spent ... I could have stayed for more than 2 hours easily.
What a great place. Favorite place to take my kids to
The people working at the museum are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The museum has so many beautiful works of art. Also, the atmosphere in the museum is comfortable. I could spend 2 days looking at paintings, and still not do the museum justice. They are hunter-friendly. I love the gift shop. Everyone should experience this amazing museum.
Staff greeting at the door, directing us throughout the Redlin Ctr. My son loved it!
A beautiful tribute to wonderful artist. A lovely lovely building that you can visit for free and learn the story behind The Man Behind the paintings.
Beautiful facility that stands out as you drive through. If you like wildlife or are from the Midwest, you must stop. The art created by Mr. Redlin is very detailed and moving. It brings back many memories of where I grew up. I will return.
Absolutely beautiful building with amazing grounds to go for a walk and enjoy the scenery.
Very well done
Sooooo very impressive! Brilliant artist, well preserved, and presented. Love his work and the facility where it is displayed. People are friendly too.

This place is awesome if you like Redlin paintings. Its free and it gives a lot of information about Terry Redlin. Even has sketches from when he was a small child. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They have two separate gift shops and they have plenty of different items to purchase. They also have local honey for sale.
One of a kind. Awesome
Great art center. Awesome firework show on July 3rd.
The staff was warm and welcoming. We really liked how the paintings were displayed. We were able to learn not only about the artist but also each painting had a brief description.
