Amazing park for being in the middle of town! Great trails for hiking and biking. Biking trails can be hard to navigate but the trails are on a few mountain biking apps. The lake is always packed in the summer with boats. I would highly recommend renting a kayak and exploring some of the lakes!
We walk these trails at least once a week. Aside from the paved trail, they have a series of named/rated dirt bicycle trails. These are well maintained and sport beautiful views. They also have a beach to swim at, plenty of fishing spots, playgrounds, wedding venues, and loads of trails.
I went here a few times to grill out and be outside while I was visiting family. They have some really nice picnicking spots and the split pavilion is super cool. The park is located right by a highway though so youll hear some traffic from time to time depending on where you are at. The grounds are very well maintained and there are several places to dump your trash.
Amazing bike trails. Campground near cedar river. Beach area. Several river and lake boat ramps. Several day use areas and shelters with playgrounds.
A park of contradictions. The modern bath house was clean as could be expected. Signs reminded campers to social distance, and pointed out amenities not cleaned regularly (ie. water tap and play ground.) Playground and equipment was in good condition. No ranger on site, just a camp host. RV/electric portion of the campground was open and neat, with few trees. The tent/non-electric campsite we had reserved was the dirtiest campsite I have encountered in years. My family spent 30-40 minutes picking up broken glass, broken balloons, food wrappers, bottle caps and an 8 foot length of construction-grade chain. Broken tree limbs were hanging loose from the trees around us and I worried they would fall in a wind. No problem; the trees blocked any sort of breeze from reaching us. Train noises lasted late into the night; as late as 1am on one of the nights we were there.
The campground has clean bathroom & showers. Lots of trees for shade. A playground for kids to play in and a large open area for campers to play a variety of games. Theres also a number of lakes for boating, kayaking and fishing as well as a paved bike trail that runs through the park.
I love it here. There is lots to do, from having a picnic, swimming and fishing areas, boat docks if you have your own, or a rental place if you dont. The playground areas are well maintained and the bathrooms arent bad either. In the current climate it is easy to keep your distance, while still being outdoors. It can be a bit confusing the first few times so I would recommend a map or navigation aid until you are familiar with the area.
What a beautiful place! We were riding bicycles and rode through the campgrounds. Everything looked amazing. So glad to have this park nearby where we live
We loved camping here! Camp sites were more private. Bike trails are beautiful and theres little areas along the river to fish.
Always beautiful and well kept. Love bringing the dogs to walk!
Amazing place to spend time as a family even when its busy theres space to be segregated from other families enjoying the outdoors like us! Swimming, fishing, boating, cook outs, birthday parties, and so much more to do.
A great family friendly place to lay on the beach or swim in the lake. Dont worry the water is brown because of a natural process when alge releases different pigments. Great rental service for kids and adults!
Nice and Clean. Good patrol by DNR and Park Rangers few time day/night. Makes you feel safe. Appreciated that.
I like this spot as it is close to home and a decent amount of fishing spots. I dont have much luck but other people seem to catch a lot. Would still recommend
Beautiful Park Right in the heart of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area. Note that if you are using the trail maps on the Iowa DNR site, the PT trail is called the Twisty Trail east of the road and Joes Trail west of the road on park signs, and the perimeter trail is called the Wonderland Trail in the west and Prison Break in the east. Awesome lakes, tons of kayakers, a tad humid but that comes with the river valley. Very uncrowded (on dirt trails) for a memorial day weekend.
Great place to fish, walk and swim... need to check the camping out. I highly recommend this Park! The DNR staff is awesome!
Nice little campground with lots of trails around.
Tons of space, great for picnics, boating, fishing, walking, running, games and fun! Super nice, lots of parking space, can accommodate many people throughout the park.
Nice park and campground. Sites are spaced well. If you dont want electric hookup, there are some beautiful spots on the river! Shower house is clean and private stalls. Could use more room for changing, but just fine. There is a potable water faucet at the dump station. GREAT bike trails and well maintained hiking trails., too. There is a near-by airport, highway and railroad so occasionally there is noise but nothing too bad. Oh, and Cedar Falls downtown is just 5 mins from the park entrance. Good fun there too. A couple tasty breweries and restaurants. Pics are from around the park mid-July.
Spacious. Tables accommodating & nice concession stand.
Super fun!!!!! The swimming area has kayaks, canoes and mats for you to rent. We loved the place...
Cool lakes, great trails, nice drive.
Great place to relax and see the beauty of nature.

This was a huge, beautiful park! My favorite in the area!
Very good and well maintained park. Has an awesome beach and big lakes for kayaking or whatever you want. Also had access top cedar river. The campsite I was at was on the river so it has the best view. And the bugs werent as bad as youd think
Beautiful park. Cozy kayaking.
Not crowded from 3-5pm
Great camp ground awesome beach with paddle boat and flotation device rentals
First night of camping at George Wythe and really enjoying it. May be the fact that it has been over a year since my last vacation but this place is pretty cool. They do close the park at 10:30 so if you have visitors they need to leave by then.
One of my favorite places in Waterloo!!
Tons of outdoor activities for all! Have never had a bad experience here. The park rangers work hard to keep it nice and a pleasant experience for all
Quiet and peaceful most of the time. Always have a good day with friends and family.
Had a fun time in lake
My favorite place in the whole world!
Very peaceful and relaxing.
Every summer is a must with the friends we have a great time!!
A great hideaway in the middle of the city. Clean, modern facilities, fishing, beach, boating. The Cedar River runs through the grounds.
Good park lots of mosquitos
Always enjoyable and quiet. Lots of rec area and trails that loop through Cedar Falls and Waterloo. Cedar Valley Soft Trails system goes through as well. Love it
My family and I went here. They have various rentals available, we opted for a pedal boat. There is also a nice picnic area, and Beach area. Very nice park!
Water nice, clean beach
Great place for an outing of pretty much any kind. Family friendly. Convenient location - right off the highway.
My favorite place to go and take pictures. Gorgeous drives to take!
Beautiful area for the whole family something to do for everyone
Just plain awesome
Great place to enjoy the outdoors
Beautiful peaceful views and clean and well organized Love
Absolutely beautiful, well-maintained paths for both paved and unpaved walks.
Fun place
Very hard place to camp with friends as you have to be extremely quiet or you will be kicked out.
Great summer fun
Campsites are spacious and flat. All are wooded on outside circle. Showers need improvement - water flow is timed and shuts off every 7 seconds requiring the patron to push a button much too frequently. No room to sit down in the stalls. Water temp and pressure are excellent. Not as clean as they could/should be.
Great place to camp, go biking or just walking the trails
I really like that thereare places that you can path and have a privet picnic at certain times
Its as you would expect from a park and lake very nice scenery very nice lake to swim at it was very heavily populated which was nice until a lady started screaming at me and my family about our music but it was reassured when another lady came up and took the blame for us by far very nice people very friendly staff would recommend and kayaking is nice there as well because of the beautiful scenery
Its beautiful here, and very big. Its a labyrinth.
Wonderful, very scenic view and the ducks and flamengo, quiet, clean
Very quite and relaxing. We love going to park on weekdays.
It is a nice park. They have space to play games. They have picnic tables. And a bike trail it starts here.
The grounds are beautiful. But there is a lack of maintenance to the bathrooms and trails,. I found the restroom showers to have mold on the walls, the trails are not kept up, much debris on the bike trail, making it hazardous to ride bikes. Really lacking in total up keep.
Used to be a great place to go with kids, but now it’s kinda run down and gross.. beer cans, broken glass and smells of urine.
Love the trails even though some are still in need of repair from spring flooding
Park is practically in my back yard. Multiple lakes allows you to swim, kayak, fish, boat or use watercraft devices on. Public beach available. Maxx rentals can set u up with canoes, kayaks, ect. if you dont own anything like that. Modern type campgrounds, various areas with play equipment & shelters. Paved trails to walk or bike on-connects to CV nature trail system. Clean and well maintained. Just be careful when u use the trails by yourself.
The park is beautiful and so green. Lovely place to fish, swim, or relax
Campsites address spread out and spacious. mountain bike trails right I the park.
We really enjoy this park. Lots of walking trails. Good sites for picnics.
A nice escape to the woods, but unfortunately you can hear people driving along the highway while youre in the middle of the park. Still nice to have a bit of an escape into nature.
Wow. This is an awesome place! We came out for a morning of photographing nature and landscapes, and we found incredible numbers of bird species. Whoever suggests that this and other land saved from commercialization is not used . . . well, theyre simply wrong. We were greeted by numerous other visitors and saw even more. Its a friendly, safe, welcoming spot. Ill be back frequently - with and without my camera!
Great fishing
