Awesome park! Beautiful, lots of space, sidewalk for bicycles, etc, an amphitheater covered area, picnic tables, also benches and trashcans throughout the walking path. Ducks that you arent supposed to feed, but people do. You can also fish. Make sure to bring dog poopie bags of youre going to walk your dog, I havent found and provided in the area. But, they do have a pet water fountain by the north bathrooms.
I go walking here every night because its right by my house. Cant say anything bad about this place. Great place to walk or ride your bike around. Very clean place to walk. They have plenty of lights so dont be worried about it getting dark.
Nice park to go for a walk/run/bike. The loop is approx 1mi. so easy to gauge how many miles you are on. At night, the walkway has lights that will come on. Its not super bright, but enough to let you see where you are going.
Beautiful park. Lots of walking paths, a park for kids, ducks and geese to feed, fishing. The main down side and only reason for the three stars is due to the lack of shaded areas. Ues there is a large blue pavilion but hard to fish from it and one covered picnic table but its often taken as this park has a large amount of visitors.
This is a really nice place to go walking and feed the ducks/geese. Ive been there twice during my visit in Fort Worth. The only negative I got from my visit to Capp Smith Park is that there was too many people there, most of whom didnt care to wear a mask. Most people dont seem to care that America is still stuck in the throes of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This park is perfect for pandemic walking or exercise. They have signs informing you to go only in one direction. 1 mile in distance is perfect as the Texas heat can get a little rough after a few laps with not many shaded areas.

Good, clean running trail (1 mile around) that’s connected to a park, the watuaga library, and a pavilion for free concerts and events. Pretty popular and usually have a couple runners/walkers all the time!
The fishing has become non existent. But the walkway is still very nice well lit and safe.

Had a great time Easter Sunday #fishing here. I caught 2 little ones ( Largemouth Bass ) and hooked into a really nice one maybe 3lbs. I will be back to get her soon. Keep on casting family. Good place to go for a jog or a casual walk with the family. Plus you get to see the Mallard, Muscovy ducks and Geese too. Its a peaceful place and the playground area is nice also to take your kids to play.
Great park and they have a nice free mini library available by the childrens area.

We take our dogs there and walk around the park often.The city of Watauga does a great job to keep this park looking nice.There are picnic areas, an amphitheater and the walking path is very well lit at night. You can also fish there.Theres currently construction going on and it looks like there moving the retaining walls back to expand the size of the lake.Id recommend a visit.

Watauga is a nice, small, and laid back city surrounded by larger cities. The park can get busy and it is not very big, however, it is peaceful and serene to me. Plus a good amount of Pokemon stops
Have always loved this park. I grew up here. So much space and fresh air and not to mention the ducks.
I want to transport this park to L5! Well maintained, one lap around the pond equals one mile, restrooms, amphitheater, fishing, tables and benches, and waterfowl. The shade is around the seating not the path, so I dont recommend running or walking on a August afternoon, but mornings and the rest of the year are fine for that, biking too. Its a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of hyper-connected urban living.

Well maintained little park. Average spot to fish. Nice playground close to the library and a great field to fly kites next to that. Walking path around the pond is decently lit for walking after dark, which is great during the hot months.

This trail is well-lit and gets a pretty good amount of foot-traffic. Its also long enough that a few laps gives you some good activity in the evening, but positioned in such a way where you can watch your surroundings and be safe. Stays lit-up until 11, so its a great place for a nighttime walk during Texas summers.
Real lite up. I was only there for 30 mins before dark. Well cleaned park and quiet.

Great walking trails and fishing with a playground and patios
Park is great and the fishing used to be as well. Last few times Ive taken the kids down there we got skunked. LOTS of trash in the water that they kept getting snagged on.
If you are looking for the play area for small children it’s by the library!!! The directions take you to the park entrance of the trail!! Once you get to library it’s around back!! I have very small children and couldn’t make the walk! I’m assuming the trail takes you to play area on the other side.
A one-mile oval paved trail around a beautiful pond. Adequate parking both North and South. Restrooms both ends. A little Veterans Memorial at the South end. Lights all around. We just call it the lit park. Good dog watering and dog bag dispensers to clean up after your pets! Park has a small amphitheater and lots of picnic tables. Enjoy!

Absolutely adore this park. We moved here almost a year ago and this park has been our biggest resource. Great playground for kids. Beautiful walking trail that is very well lit for walking at night. Its a very active park. We have always felt safe walking here at night. The park is kept very clean. We rented a pavilion for our sons birthday party and it was very affordable. Highly recommend this park!

I really enjoyed the fishing spots...the city has done a great job maintaining the pond and not allowing it to get overgrown. You can fish out there and not worry too much about getting hooks stuck in the grass or other plants...its also stocked with blue gill...

Clean, well lit park with a 1mile walking/biking track around a great little lake with duck, birds, and we even had a family of beavers last year.
One of my absolute favorite parks! I visit here regularly since it is just down the road, and everytime Ive been Ive seen tons of wildlife. Canadian geese are here regularly, as well as mallards and other water fowl. Ive also seen turtles and fish. The lap around the lake is exactly one mile, so it is perfect for running and pacing yourself. The facilities are clean. Apart from bathrooms, grills, and covered patios, there is also an amphitheatre. In the spring, the town has a festival, where there are carnival rides, live music, and food trucks. I love this park!
Although we enjoyed the walking path, we originally went for the playground and were unable to locate it. There were no maps only information boards describing all the great activities. There was dog poo on the sidewalks and the swing area was dark. We even checked the website unable to find the location of the playground on the sight, as well.
Not too bad, plenty of places to sit and hang out, there are excercise stations and poop bags for pets, the trail itself is super nice with small hills for a nice bike riding/ running experience, the path is wide, so multiple people can walk together and the wildlife is nice, many ducks, birds, and fish. There not-so-recent edition was the little stage area that is covered, it gives the option of sitting and chilling by the fountain and the ability to climb the stairs-if that exercise is what your into. The park is located behind the police station, so it is generally safe and everyone Ive met is extremely nice.However, the reason I am giving the park 3 stars is because of their playground. The playground used to be a place where my friends would go to hang out, drink monsters, and eat icecream while chilling with the little kids and just having an overall good time. A few years back they remodeled the playground so that only children under the age of 8 could have fun. The playground I used to love as a kid, where I not only grew up playing with teenagers, younger kids, and my friends, a place where my parents could enjoy the experience and play with me, or sit back and watch us have fun, has been reduced to a place where the slides are shabby, the bars are short, the see-saw was taken away from us, the old-style wheel which people would spin and jump off of was replaced with a safe, new-age, infant friendly plastic seats where everyone has to push the center for it to turn. The entire main structure is unsafe, as me and my friends- 3 teenagers- standing on it made the structure feel uneasy, if we all rocked back and forth the entire thing would shake. Everything is made for people under 4 foot, meaning I never see teenagers, parents, or really anyone there anymore. What a way to ruin a nice day with my best friend than to realize our spot was changed for the worse.Its not just nostalgia that Im mad about, but the fact that they replaced it with something that not everyone can enjoy.

I came here (North entrance off Starnes) only to fish and from that standpoint its disappointing. Saw a lot of folks walking and enjoying the other features of this park, so it gets credit for that as well as having a clean indoor restroom. Overall appearance: parking lot, park maintanence and otherwise, I rate as just average. Lots of ducks and turtles in the pond, but cant really say if theres fish here.2 days later: I visited using the South entrance off Whitley behind the Watauga library: very nice landscaped areas for sitting, etc with a covered pavilion and restrooms. Pond bank wont be accessable until work in progress is finished sometime Spring/Summer 2020. Should be excellent here once that happens!!
