Why they forgot TOGO? You also place a great statue of TOGO also. He was a real hero. Balto was also good but this means not that you changed the truth. And pls dont make money by using rides with ANIMALS OR SLED DOGS
Cool smaller museum that shows the history of the Iditarod. Really interesting items on display plus a short film shown on why these dogs love to run. If you are in the area definitely check them out.
Very freindly staff, good information regarding the race and breed. Good quality merchandise with fair prices. No fee to go browse and watch a movie about the dogs and the race. What can you go do these days that is no cost
Such an amazing experience! Once in a lifetime event most people only wish they could see. Very neat to see how well trained these animals and mushers are!
Alaskas official sport-mushing. The place to learn about Iditarod. Videos to watch, displays, and everything Iditarod. Great gift shop. A must if your in Wasilla Alaska.
Wonderful place to visit and learn about the history of the Iditarod. They have the actual dog Togo in there as well so that is really neat. Lots of good stuff to buy too.
Informative staff. Free entry. Video playing of past races. Gift items go to.funimg each years race.
The staff and trainers were very pleasant & friendly, while keeping the dogs top condition and learning to work as a team for the annual Iditarod Race. There happened to be several puppies that could be handled and petted, really cute. They had information on the race, museum, gift shop and films for viewing. They also had training rubber tire carriages that the dogs would pull around a small track that serves a dual purpose of keeping the dogs in shape for pulling the race sled and it also delights many of the visitors who pass through. We enjoyed
Awesome video and gift shop. Friendly staff. Wish the dogs were there though.
Always a great place to bring our visitors. So very friendly.
I have always wanted to visit the Iditarod Headquarters and I am soo glad I finally did! The museum is one room in which they display many of the Iditarod trophies and awards as well as other interesting things involving the race. They were also playing a video on race as well. There is also a gift shop with many awesome items, some pricey, but still lots to browse. My favorite part is that most days they actually have a dog team there and you can get cart or sled rides, depending on the season, and while our cart ride was a little short, it was still awesome! They also had some young pups you could snuggle as well!
Nice location and look but closed
I’d like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding customer service from Iditarod gift shopGreat job
This is a neat little stop thats accessible and quick and gets you close to the meaning of the Iditarod experience. Meeting the son of the father of the Iditarod race makes this stop all the more authentic. Neat place to learn about Alaskan history.
Very informative and interactive experience for all ages. Friendly staff with clean, professional, and modern facilities. Well worth the few minutes to swing by when exploring the area.
The dogs are super happy to get to pull guests on a sled! They all jump up and get excited to do it. (its probably an easy job for them compared to the Ididarod) the video in the center is also very informative. Great place.
Interesting assemblage of info on the Iditarod race. We happen to go the afternoon of their volunteer appreciation lunch so we just looked around the gift shop and the video room which has a nice collection of items on the race, collection of photos and an interesting 30min video about the dogs. A must for dog lovers
There isnt a lot to this museum, but what is available was thought out and currated so toy get a sense of what the contestants go through to prepare for and win the race. A gift shop is available and is probably about thr same size as the museum section. We chatted with the staff for a few minutes and swapped stories of our husky dogs.
Small museum with historical artifacts. Very good, informative 33 minute video. Really enjoyed that. Small gift shop. Sled dog puppies available to hold. Also have adult team of dogs pulling a wagon ..... rides are $10 per person.
So fun to play with the puppies (late July) and ride behind a sled team. Staff were friendly & helpful. Definitely worth the time!!
Amazing museum with incredibly knowledgeable staff. Had an amazing ride with legendary musher Redington, son of the father of the Iditarod. Even got to hold 13 day old pups!
Was very interesting and fun $10 ride the dogs love to run. They get excited when they see someone boarding the ride. Getting puppy kisses are free!
For what Togo did with the sled team that saved many in Nome, AK. I believe it is disrespectful to have him still stuffed in display and not buried. Bury Togo with honor and dignity.
Great experience. Love the dogs. Lots of information
Played with some baby huskies! Theres also a museum, movie, and sled rides with the adult dogs! Definitely worth checking out while in Alaska. Everything is free except the sled ride
The Iditarod Annual Race is an annual highlight for local Alaskans. The Trail headquarters offers a video (about 20-30 minutes in duration) detailing the history of the race. Admission is FREE. Outside of the headquarters, you can experience the strength and desire of the sled dogs nature with an opportunity to take a sled ride. Two sled dog puppies were available to pet and cuddle. The headquarters has a great gift shop with all things Iditarod.
Who doesnt love Togo?
So much fun taking a sled ride... Great informative museum.
Friendly welcome, staff willing to share their own stories/experience with Iditarod. You can watch short movies on the race and how that take care of their dogs inside, next to the shop.
Fans of the Iditarod race for years. Stopped by while visiting family. Took a ride with the sled team. Got to hold some 12 day old puppies. Fantastic staff.
Very nice place. The sled dog puppies were 5 weeks old and were so cute.
Im a dog person and a musher...LOVE this place!!
Great to see the dogs at work, also enjoyed the very informative video. Thank you
Visited the museum store and the gentleman there was friendly and was able to fill us in with some stories of mushers and dogs that have raced.
The sled dog rides are 10 dollars a person. Not worth the price, but overall nice place to learn about the history of sled dogs
Take the time to learn everything you can here, its fascinating. The dogs are amazing.
Video was very interesting, got to pet puppies and they had a cool wagon ride pulled by dogs
Museum is small, butt the 30 minute movie is worth your time. Got to have a quarter mile dog asked ride! Was a thrill! Even puppies there to cuddle! Worth the stop.
Short and sweet. Nice video. Cool artifacts and news clippings. Easy to enjoy and take in information. Not too complicated for youth and attention span. Like it.
Informative land mark and its by a campground with a dog park and a lake also a field that is fitting for you and your dog to play
Ive followed the Iditarod for years. Attended 2 of them and will be going back for the 2018 race. We enjoyed our visit here. Yes, it is more of a gift shop than a museum, but there are some interesting artifacts inside. Staff was very friendly. We got to hold a 3 week old pup. Cart ride was fun. Overall, it was a trip worth making.
Friendly staff, interesting displays. No dogs here, though.
Love the puppies! Very fun and informative too.
Me and my mother had an outstanding sled ride.
Love getting a chance to see the dogs
We learned about the history of the Iditarod and how well the mushers care for their dogs. We loved holding the puppies and taking a ride on the sled. Those dogs are fast!
Its a great place to stop and visit. There is a dog team to see and learn about and go for a ride if you desire. Good movie to watch and learn about the Iditarod sled race. Very nice gift shop..
The sled dog rides were a blast, although extremely short. I barely had time to get my camera out and the ride was already over. The kids especially enjoyed petting the newborn puppies.
Friendly and informative staff. Got to get some three-week-old puppies.
If you come, make sure to make time to pet the adorable puppies!
Learned alot
This was a great place. Watch the movie it is very informative
Clean, great selection of Alaska themed merchandise. Authentic Alaskan log house/building. Very informative in a lot of things happening on Alaska and especially the Longest, Greatest race on the world THE IDITAROD SLED DOG RACE.
When ever anyone is this close to the begining of this great race. It is always good to see where the dogs and humans really begin the trek North in the winter.
The movie they show was very informative. I asked lots of questions and all were answered. Got to hold and pet the puppies!! Talked to people whom had run the race many times, was fascinated!!
Interactive museum. You can get a history lesson about the dog sledding sport and they also let you get the puppies. Great place to take families.
Cool place to visit. Love dogs anyway. make sure to see the puppies!
It was fun to see the dogs run and the puppies.
The race is great but the volunteers who do security act as if they were the Gestapo.
Great stop. Very educational and fun. Loved the sled dog puppies.
The place is free and has some great info. During the summer they usually have sled dog pups you can hold!!! It is great for a quick stop in.
Lots of great info. The staff was very friendly and spent a lot of time answering our questions. They made us feel very welcome.
A must see museum a lot of great history here the staff has a lot of information to share. They have quite a few exhibits for such a small place and they are always smiling and excited to share with you what they know.
Made a stop at this location and was very impressed with the amount of information available for you. Great puppies to hold and you can even get a dog sled ride...
Very cool place!
Quaint, clean, and informative. The back room felt like a little piece of history. You must be pulled by the sled dogs.
Enjoyed holding the 9 week old puppy!
Nice displays and products for sale. The puppies of course are remarkably cute!
It is a neat place to learn about the history of stead dog racing. It also talked about the care of the dogs.
Come during the summer and you can see the puppies, and even get pulled on a wagon by a team of sled dogs!
Theres nothing I love more than learning more and more about mushing.
Even though I grew up in Anchorage, I had never been here. We took two young teenagers here on the way south. The museum and gift shop are free, dog cart rides were $10/person and very short. The museum is quite small and shows one rotating movie. Id like to see more exhibit about the iditarod itself and dog training. The video that was on while we were there was quite defensive about the dog sledding industry, which we didnt realize was controversial and didnt need the lecture. Wed have preferred more educational exhibits about the experience. The kids absolutely loved the place, and so I have to rate it 5 stars, where Id put 4 stars for us older adults. There were puppies which they let you hold and photograph. You cant pet the dogs that are hooked up to the sled, but there are a few others you can pet. Even though the cart ride is really short -- probably 3-4 minutes long -- it does give the thrill of the ride and the kids loved it. The staff were good about telling you where to photo/video the ride.
It was thrill to visit for the first time
Alaskan husky puppies make a two star to a four star. Dont expect a lot in general here
Great place to learn about the history of dog mushing intertwined with the history of Alaska. Hands on experiences available with dogs and their mushers right here.
Very interesting and informative. Video shows the history the Iditerod and the commemorative 1,000 mile race each year in early March.
A very beautiful spot, and well maintained. The dog ride was SO special for our 2 year old granddaughter and Papa!
Really enjoyed the video...nice shop...
Good place to visit.
Very friendly staff and a chance to spend lots of time with sled team puppies. Much more interesting than one would expect.
Great experience. Learned alot
Good place to visit if you want to know more about the Iditarod or dog mushing.
Nice place to see past winners, but some souvenirs and pet some puppies.
Love love love this place. Super fun to take a ride with the sled dogs!!
A lot of history, cool place
Its a sled dog museum. Complete with taxidermied dead dogs! WooHoo!
Seemed like a nice place but we couldnt watch the movie or see the museum because they were having a bit as meeting in there so it was closed to the public. The ride was a little pricey at $10 per person for a out a 30 second ride
Love dog sled ride.. Price was in range.. The grounds was well kept.. Love my T-shirt...
