So the nature center and planetarium--whatever. It has a drinking fountain, a restroom, some exhibits that will help you learn about the flora and fauna of the park if youre into that kind of thing. The actual park is amazing. Miles and miles of very good trail, and plenty of places to feel like youre actually in the woods, without ever having to step outside of the city. Gorgeous picnic spaces where you can host a campfire picnic for free. If you live in DC and you like to hike or trail run, this is *not* to be missed.
The bison were incredible!!
Love this park and this center. Great people.
I have been coming here since childhood and have always left with new information.
Nice place to relax
Umm i read about is trails and some replica animals no one has said one word about the planetarium is there one even there
We always have fun here. Hiking outside, replicas of local inhabitants inside, and a planetarium.
Quaint nature center with decent trails. Very classic nature center style. Friendly staff
Im in the park nearly every day with my dogs, walking or running on the quieter trails until I forget whatever is bothering me and just enjoy all that Nature gives so freely. RCP is truly a wonderful, sacred space. Lets respect and protect it for years to come!
Pretty boring place overall. Looks like an outdated museum from the 60s. Good thing this place is free. Probably a good place to take small children though
Bad
Two and a half times the size of NYs Central Park, this is a bit of wild in the middle of the District. In addition to actual wildlife -- there are deer running through it -- the National Zoo is nearby. Great on weekends when they shut parts of the parkway down.
Rock Creek Park is a beautiful place--abundant trees, trails, and views. If you are visiting the DC area, or if you live here, it is a space away from the city, yet conveniently located.
The park is terrific for bicyclists, walkers & runners, hiking and more - particularly on weekends and some holidays when portions of Beach Drive and some other roads in the Washington portion are closed to motor vehicles. For access to picnic areas, portions of Beach Dr. remain open. In Maryland, some of the attractions are Lake Needwood, Lake Bernard Frank, Meadowside nature center and another scenic road named Beach Drive. Needwood golf course is alongside Lake Needwood. Seasonally, rental boats are available here. In Washington, the Rock Creek golf course is near Military Road.
