Outstanding customer service!
If you are reading this because you are thinking of working here or have a job offer to work here, dont, especially in the Archives branch. Half of new hires at NHHC leave within 1 year. Upper management is clueless and has no practical experience or educational background in operating an archival facility. Excessive micromanagement drives all the good employees and supervisors away. Staffing is a revolving door. Stay away.
Strap yourself in for this review. If you are looking for a job at NHHC, you must be desperate or foolish. If youre neither, dont just walk away from any sort of job here, you should RUN. Heres why:1) Management is hopelessly corrupt, inept, and arrogant. Many of these low level managers manage nothing at all; they sit around playing on their cell phones. Worse, theyre physically disgusting: theres at least one fat, sloppy genetic abomination with missing teeth (!) making policy. Who the hell hired these people?!2) The upper level managers travel needlessly on the taxpayers dime to luxurious destinations, for training they neither want nor need or have the capacity to implement.3) The Archives is a dump; its dirty, with constant HVAC issues, with ants, etc. The managers are well behind on any kind of professional development, and are refugees from any kind of real work.4) Theres no upward mobility, especially if you are competent. Turnover is phenomenal for those who are; they leave wishing theyd never heard of the place.5) Its physically UNSAFE. Also, theres a very real risk with getting arrested if you work here. Brawls between employees occur at least once a year & arrests have been made for the flimsiest of reasons. The arresting cops WILL strip and/or cavity search you. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.NHHC is an awful, hideous place that gets sued all the time. Trust me, You DO NOT WANT to get involved with this place. Youll get caught up in this business and it will ruin your life.
If you haven’t visited the Navy Yard and at least seen the museum, you’re missing out. The curators are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about our countries Navy and love to pass on their knowledge.
