My name is Austin Choi and I went to Part 1 of full bag fitting yesterday September 8, 2018. I want to start by saying that I am a real customer and this a real review. I am getting back into golf after having stopped playing for several years now. I decided to try a fitting with The Golf Doctor after reading great reviews and I can say with 110% conviction that any glowing review of Matt is understating his excellence and service. Super knowledgeable, customer-oriented, and accommodating. We did irons, wedges, and putting yesterday and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. His studio is very professional yet feels like youre golfing at your buddys home. He will work with you and your swing and you can be confident that youll be getting more than your moneys worth with your fitting. Highly recommend and Ill personally take responsibility if you have anything less than 100% positive experience. I will be a return customer for the rest of my life living here in DC.

I had a putter fitting with Matt, and Im very happy with my new putter. Matt uses technology for some measurements, and also has a keen eye in watching me putt, and recommended the types of putters that would work best. I tried them out and determined which had the look and feel that I was most comfortable with. Theres no high pressure sales, and he gave some great tips on how I could improve my putting stroke. I highly recommend him, and hope to get fitted for other clubs soon.

Highly, highly recommended. I had a driver and fairway wood fit by Matt. Hes got top of the line measuring equipment (Trackman 4 etc.) and is extremely knowledgeable about club-fitting. I almost feel like a paid shill when I say that I am hitting my driver 15 yards further after being properly fit by Matt, but it is true.

I couldnt be more pleased with my recent putter fitting. Matt is very thorough, very knowledgeable, and very clear in all of his explanations. I was also impressed that Matts approach to fitting is as much art as science. Using the latest technology, he determined that my putter doesnt fit the ideal specifications for me. After I tried a bunch of other putters, however, we found that I actually made more putts with my current putter after Matt adjusted its loft and lie. Im grateful to Matt for his honesty -- he didnt try to sell me on a new club that wasnt producing better results -- and for lending me his expertise. The Golf Doctor receives my enthusiastic recommendation.

My type of golf shop! I was sad to find out there was no where around to do any solid ball fittings. I searched around town and found Matt! I saw that he offers a service to come in and hit/utilize his trackman for an hour.This was perfect. Literally came in with my own golf clubs & balls to test spin #s and chat a little bit with Matt on recommended spin, AoD, etc. He didnt have to do this at all! Came back about a week later with my preferred ball to get my distance #s for all the clubs. He was very friendly; I will definitely be coming back!

I was struggling with driver consistency and found Golf Doctor DC during a quick google search and decided to go for a formal driver fitting. I was was able to setup an appointment online and received a confirmation email with instructions for my appointment, super convenient! During the appointment, Matt used both TrackMan data as well as my verbal feedback to try different driver head and shaft combinations. After hitting multiple shots with numerous combinations, we finally found the combination that worked best for me and my swing. It turns out that I just needed a new shaft and when I asked Matt if I would see any benefit from a new head, he didnt try to sell me a new one and said my current head would be just fine for another couple years. I am very happy with my new shaft and the service that I received from Matt. I cant recommend him enough and I will certainly be back for future club fitting needs!

I knew Matt, the Golf Doctor, from a few years back when he was working for someone else. He was always a great dude and Im glad to see him doing well here. So I saw him for a putter fitting. I had done a SAM PuttLab fitting years ago in the past but had heard great things about Quintic. And wow, was it eye opening! Actually my father-in-law around the same time had scheduled a putter fitting with Matt as well. So we ended up going together and spent almost three hours on the putting green in the shop. SAM is more keyed in on the stroke, but Quintic has a much better representation of what the ball is doing. Both are good but lets just say Im happy to have done this putter fitting.Heres a breakdown of how the putter fitting process went:First, Matt had us use our own putter and he placed a mirror on the face of it. When we aligned ourself to the hole, he had a laser from the hole pointing at the ball. And when the ball was removed, we could see how good or bad our aim was. After we just putted a bunch of balls to the hole. He looked consistency in our putting stroke, what type of arc we had, what length and look was best, etc. My FIL and I had vastly different fittings at this point. He wanted to start from scratch as he had a putter from 20 years ago that was too short and light. I just wondered if I could either tweak my gamer or see if anything was better. After we were relatively settled Matt then put us on the Quintic camera and software. It was so cool! We saw lots of stats regarding our stroke that I wont bore you all with. Most importantly for me was I had too much loft and the ball was skidding a ton before rolling.For me, Matt tweaked my putters loft and lie and already I started seeing some better results. There was one putter that may have been marginally better, but he didnt try to do a hard sell which is always a big negative in most stores. For my FIL, he definitely needed something different than he had and I could already see him being more confident at the end of his session.Only trivial negatives Ill add are the selection is really, really good but isnt the best in the area. Also since I was there for a while parking had to be in a garage but thats DC. Lots of awesome things going on at the Gold Doctor in the middle of DC. I cant wait to go back and check out what else Matt has to offer.

Youd be foolish to go anywhere else. Matt has been doing it a long time, and he knows his stuff. And hes got the latest technology too (TrackMan). Takes the time to have you try out many different options and then makes data-based recommendations. And no high pressure upsell.

Doesn’t even respond to emails. Maybe they just don’t want new customers.

If you are hesitant about spending a little money to have clubs properly fit, I highly recommend at least having a chat to Matt. He is very experienced, uses the data obtained & takes the time to listen to your needs / requirements. I think I hit 5 or 6 different driver heads with multiple shafts. Ill be back when I upgrade my irons. Simply hitting a few balls at a range day and getting the feel of clubs is about 1/10th of what Matt will go through with you. Cheers again

This place was so awesome! I started playing golf about 2 years ago, and I am pretty much still at the beginner level. When I started playing, my wife was not with me purchasing a really good set of clubs until I showed her I was going to stick with it, so I bought an Adams set of irons off of Ebay and played with that for a while. Well I recently received my wifes blessing to get a proper fitting and purchase a set I desire.So I set up my appointment with Matt. The first thing that stood out to me was his professionalism. I was inquiring about the custom iron fitting that I saw on line which was $175. After speaking with him about my game, he recommended I get the beginners fitting rather than the professional fitting I was inquiring about. So often people take advantage of you for an easy buck. I wouldve never known if he hadnt told me. Honesty and integrity goes a long way with me.Once I arrived to the facility, we talked a little bit about my issues and he explained to me what we would be doing. We went through various different shafts and heads until we found one that I felt comfortable with, which was the Ping G400 with the Project X 5.5 LZ shafts. During the process, he even gave me few pointers to help me with my swing. I can go on and on about my experience, but I would be all day. I strongly recommend the Golf Doctor DC for any level golfer. Also I searched other places to see if I could find the clubs cheaper than what Matt quoted me, and I was not successful. His prices are very reasonable.

As a pro, Im very particular about my equipment. I want someone knowledgeable and skilled who has the necessary tools and inventory to do brand agnostic and tour level club work.When my wife and I recently moved to DC, I found Matt at The Golf Doctor-DC.Since our arrival Ive made several visits to see him.We did all kinds of stuff including Trackman distance gapping and subsequent loft bends, a bag analysis (which lead to dumping a wedge in favor of a 5-wood to better fill distance gaps and suit my playing style), lie angle bends to tweak a few left and rightward iron misses, 3-wood replacement (my old one cracked), and a driver replacement (my old one had a shaft snap) that even included putting hot melt in the head to help get rid of a 10-12 yard leftward miss.Needless to say, hes done a great job and his work is getting reflected in my scoring.If you live in DC or are going to be traveling or visiting and are interested in good club work to help you get the most out of your game, Matt is worth the money and fits the bill.
