The room we visited was fantastic. Puzzles were challenging, but solvable--as an Escape Room devotee, I have been to a lot of rooms that are too easy or too convoluted to ever be solved without endless hints. Great props, and if it were non pandemic times, lots to do in the area once you have achieved your escape.

A fun time and couldnt think of a better way to escape the heat before 4th of July . We had a blast and when we are back in the area we will definitely make a return trip.

Very fun and very challenging. Gorgeous authentic design, smart puzzles and clues and lots of hidden surprises. Highly recommend to gather a team of 4 and try Cosa Nostra escape adventure.

Great escape rooms and very friendly/helpful game masters! The methods for each room is really well thought out and very well connected. The environment is very high tech and impressive. Very good quality games that really test your teamwork. Hope to come back and do more if they ever switch rooms!

Went and won! Great escape room, lots of detailed, complex clues that came together in extravagant, cool ways. The host was a great guy! Had a ton of fun while still following proper social distancing and cleanliness. Definitely recommend.

We were invited to join some friends for a surprise birthday party event. We felt is was a little better than escape rooms we have done in the past. We felt it was just the right level of challenge, and we only needed 3 hints! Looking forward to trying more of the rooms Insomnia has to offer.

Wow! Just left our first ever escape room experience and had so much fun. Cassidy was a great game master, the room was beautifully set, and the difficulty was just right. Will be back again for another room.

Insomnia escape rooms saved our bachelorette party after our original place cancelled on us. We called and we were able to get a reservation for within the hour. Cassidy was super sweet and awesome! I’m planning on bringing my family back sometime in the future.

Just finished the alchemist virtual room. It was great! We were able to have family members from 3 different states and all of us enjoyed ourselves. If you like escape rooms, this is the way to do it while locked down.

A lot of fun, ask them to tell the rules in English and Russian if you dont speak Russian. A good time.

Such a great time doing “The Patient”! Four of us barely solved it in time with 4-5 hints. It was a well-designed, creative puzzle in a comfortable room. Staff were really attentive to our progress and it showed in how the room fell together! Nice place, nice people, and would love to come back for another room.

My wife and I did the Alchemist and Mafia rooms, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The puzzles provided a good level of challenge, and the atmosphere of each room set the scene and mood beautifully. Highly recommended.

Private rooms for only your party and done nicely. Quality is decent and the room we did (the alchemist) was fun/clever for a party of five. They dont do the I escaped photos.

Did the Mafia escape room. Fun to do with people that are fairly new to the concept. It’s definitely good for a couple because the puzzles all need to be solved one by one in a particular order. That makes it a less suitable for groups though as some people might end up standing around with nothing to do.

I went last night with a group of friends and we had so much fun! The guy working, Evan, was really personable and fun to talk to. There was a situation with unhappy customers that happened while we were in the waiting room, and Evan handled it very professionally. I was definitely a little uncomfortable by it so props to him for staying calm while being the only person working!

Insomnia escape room was pretty cool. We did a “Stranger Things” themed room which was fun but difficult. There were a lot of moving pieces to the room. The room was a little tricky to find just make sure you follow the signs.

Did the oblivion room and was able to complete it with 10 minutes to spare.

The alchemist puzzles were super fun, well thought out, and immersive. Joseph was also really friendly and helpful! Would definitely go again.

We did the alchemists room and had a blast! It was an interesting use of technology and traditional locks. One of the mechanisms was a little finicky but we got it in the end and were able to make it out inn time. Overall was challenging but engaging for our group of 3. It was a linear room so big groups might have people waiting around to contribute so I would recommend 4-5 for the optimal experience.

My husband and I tried mafia and it was a great 2 person room. Great props and mechanisms, puzzles were easy but not too overwhelming for the size of our group.

Beautiful building, lots of parking, a great staff that helps gives you everything you need from pre- briefings to in game assistance. The clues are just enough to drive you mad if you don’t get them, but just enough so that you can. If I told you anymore, it would ruin the fun. So I’ll end on that, it was a complete blast of teamwork fun! I loved it.

This is the best escape room venue in DC (and I think Ive tried nearly all of them). Especially recommend the room The Patient, which is a cut above any other room weve escaped from. I found The Alchemist room (same difficulty rating of 9 as The Patient) to be easier, so if youre looking for a real challenge try The Patient. Update: The Patient is now rated 10; The Alchemist 8. This is accurate. Go try The Patient!

We had so much fun, even though we didnot solved all the clues in order to crack the safe, that is what made it very interesting the challenge of it all. Kudos to Will, he was a Great Bartender!! We will go again!

Came here for a post-Thanksgiving Mafia adventure and it was great! Mixed age group and everyone had a blast. Staff very professional and great facilities.

Ive been to over 16 Escape Rooms in a few different states, staff are GREAT but the communication is terrible if you need a hint. Every other escape room Company Ive been to, has a screen in the room but this didnt (screens are used to give countdown and display hints). Maybe it was just the room, I understand they were trying to keep with the era of a room.Its just nice to see a screen with the hint on it, instead of keep asking them for specifics. Usually any Ive been to gives 3 hints, wed only use 3 or less. This is the second escape room my group lost.

This place was pretty fun with reasonable puzzles. They werent overly easy but they werent impossibly hard. I want to say with 5-6 people in a group and at least one of us solved one of the puzzles/clues to get to the next step. I think the clues played on different thought processes which is appreciated.The place didnt receive 5 stars because parking was really hard to find in the area. Its all street parking and some was permit parking. Even with carpooling it was tough. There also wasnt any signage on the building. There is meant to be a pop up standing sign but it wasnt put out the day we were there so everyone was really confused. The building also has several offices and you need to go up to the second level. Without a directory, it gets confusing walking around.I would recommend this place for smaller groups and you wouldnt be able to go too often. I think they only have about 3-4 different themes.

An unforgettable evening with my twelve year old son that loves Wizards. Brayden went above and beyond to make it a magical experience. We were absolutely delighted and will certainly return. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We came as a group and were quickly ushered to our room. The room itself was clean and didnt look to worn out. The game itself was challenging and we all had a great time.

We have done six escape rooms in DC and our two favorites were both with Insomnia Escape Room. We had done The Alchemist. Today we did The Patient. I was concerned because it was hard to find any reviews of this room but it was awesome. Our leader Cassidy was great. It was hard but our group well together. She said we were the first team to ever get out without a hint! And with 18 minutes to spare. We had a blast. I recommend this company. Happy Mother’s Day to me.

We went to the Alchemist room and had a blast but couldn’t figure it out without clues and didn’t make it out in an hour, but we had a great time trying to figure it out. The place is well done and well run. We would LOVE to return back!!!

Loved it. We did the Mafia Room and it had an elaborate, clever setup. Really gets you thinking, but not overly difficult. I’d definitely recommend trying it out.

We just played “the patient” and it was a great room for folks who love puzzles and word games. It’s a challenging room with lots to solve, but a little smaller than some other rooms so we had a lot of fun doing it with a group of 4. Always highly recommend a fun evening at insomnia. Our game master Will was super nice and attentive.

Wow! Ive played many escape rooms from WV and NY to Ireland and Belgium. This has to be one of the better rooms Ive played. I highly recommend, and Brayden was such a funny guy to talk with before we actually played :D

We went for my mother’s birthday and had a wonderful time! Cassidy was fantastic and friendly. She was very attentive. We’ve done a couple of these as a family and will definitely be back. The level described on the website is consistent with the challenge. It wasn’t too easy but it wasn’t impossible. What was perhaps most appealing was that I could book a private room for my family of 5. With many escape rooms there is a chance you’ll be paired with strangers if you don’t meet the capacity of 8 or so with your group. I’ve played with strangers before and it’s fine but it tends to work best when there are natural bonds to break into effective groups in order to tackle the puzzle (it is super easy for escape rooms to become too many cooks).

Amazing! Cassidy was incredible, we went through the Dungeon and the Psychiatrist and they were so much fun! Really recommended.

We did two rooms at Insomnia, The Alchemist and The Patient. The alchemist was good, but we loved The Patient. Mainly because our game master, Cassidy, was amazing. The puzzles are logical and have a good flow. We will definitely be back.

This place is very fun and we enjoyed ourselves. The only thing that was a downside was getting clues. Sometimes it was hard to get someone to respond. But aside from that, we had so much fun. And we are now alchemists. Max is good! Brian is good!

Really intuitive and thought out puzzles with a friendly staff and amazingly well done setups. I did the Patient late and it really captures so much atmosphere that if and when I return to the area, Ill try another puzzle without hesitation. Everything is safe and if you want a challenge its the right place to be. My girlfriend and I used up the entire time limit and still only got 3/4 of the way through. Luckily they let us continue as there was no one else waiting. Had a blast and if youre undecided, Ill decide for you. Go.

So much fun! The rooms are pretty challenging but they offer you as much help as you need. Braden was very funny. Such a good time!

We had a great time solving the clues in the Alchemist. The puzzles were challenging, but the staff was great about giving helpful hints to move us along. We made it out with seconds to spare. Would definitely do it again.

The mafia room (Cosa Nostra) was a little easy for experienced escape room fans. Try The Alchemist instead! Some very inventive puzzles, didnt overuse keys and combinations.

We went to this escape room as an office team building function. It was a complete blast! Dustin was awesome and was very cordial and accommodating. We were also celebrating a coworker’s upcoming wedding so he incorporated wedding shower components into our visit. It was great and very unique. We recommend that everyone who is interested in doing an escape room for work or just to have fun, book your event at Insomnia Escape!

We were lucky enough to do our first ever escape room in Insomnia and we loved it!! We were a party of 3 and we did the room called The Patient. It was a super fun experience, staff was super helpful. The story and plots of the room were really well crafted, super pro and really fun. If you have never experienced an escape room you need to come to Insomnia!!

My husband and I no joke spent the last three days here trying each room and we keep coming back! We went in ascending difficulties, mafia, alchemist, and now the patient. Creative puzzles and lovely production value.*edit* compared to other venues throughout the country, these rooms are on the smaller side, esp the Patient. The puzzles were great but it would have been better had they used more of the lobby area for the room. Understandable as DC rent prob pretty high. At least the games are private, which tells me they value customer experience over income.

I constantly bother my friends to do an escape room with me and this place is the best. I love the variety of different themes they have for each room. So worth it!

Our group of three experienced players enjoyed The Alchemist. Lots of cool automated features, and clever but straightforward puzzles. It enticed us to play the other rooms here.

What an incredible way to spend an hour! We came with our extended family (ages 9 to 70) and everyone was able to figure something out and contribute to solving the mystery. The special effects and mechanisms are top notch, and the experience is worth every cent.

It was a great Escape Room. Myself and my family have both completed the Psychiatrist and the Alchemist. They were both really immersive and have a good mixture of puzzles that includes something for everyone. Both have very neat effects that make them stand out from other Escape Rooms in the area that make them both unique and challenging. We will definitely be back to try the other rooms and look forward to the challenge.

This place is awesome! Weve done all of the rooms except Oblivion and have had a fantastic time. The clues are awesome and logically follow each other. Weve done a lot of escape rooms in DC and Insomnia is consistently the best!
