If you can get here by 6 AM during the summertime definitely go to beach number six, it’s the shortest distance to the water otherwise you will be walking an easy quarter of a mile to the water from your car. Being at this beach is definitely an amazing feeling,It’s a quick getaway from New York City. You will feel like you were transported to another state. I would have given it five stars but like I said the walk to the water with all of your beach gear is a hassle.
Jones beach at sunset with a full moon.. How could you go wrong? Very sad - due to covid, restaurants not open. They have 3 food trucks- taco Greek and lobster for you to munch on. Bring your mask - boardwalk can get crowded and social distancing mandatory. The moon is in 1 of these. You have to hunt for it. Kinda like wheres Waldo. Lol
Whats there to say? if your a beach lover, Jones Beach is awesome! Im gone quite a few times this summer, and the water has been divine, with clean sand and no biting sand flies!.I like to go during the week, as its less crowded, and social distancing is practiced! The weekends are the wild, wild west! Field 6 always gets filled up early, if thats your thing!Bring your own food, as the prices are absurd! $5 for a soda...ouch!
If you love the beach and ocean, youll love Jones beach. The broadwalk is a great walking trail. There are picnic tables at field 6. So pack some lunch and desserts for after your walk. If its a cold sunny day, dress warm and enjoy a brisk walk. Its off season now, so parking is free.Enjoy and bring a friend..
Scenic beach off of Ocean Pkwy in NY. Lovely get away spot about 40 miles away from NYC. Well maintained beaches and plenty of parking spots. We visited during COVID-19 phase and people were keeping their distances well above 10 feet away from each other. This beach does not allow any pets and loud music. A great place to visit for beach goers who like to relax to the sound of the Atlantic ocean waves.
Do not waste your time. We sat in traffic for almost three hours and got out of there. I didn’t even care about the money. The biggest waste of time this year. That’s saying a lot considering this is a COVID year.
It’s Jones beach it’s a very popular beach. It’s extremely big so there is space for everyone to come and enjoy a nice day out in the sun. The parking spots are huge as well so their is nothing to worry about when you get there. Also there is buses for those who don’t drive. There’s also a nice light house that is in the center of it all. It’s a cool getaway.
Being able to visit JB summer 2020 was a blessing. Referencing only to Field 6 mid PM, the only field I went to, I felt quite safe. Visited only on weekdays, when there is no admission charge for seniors. Capacity was limited - every other parking space was blocked off - so sometimes lot was temporarily closed (circling around several times generally worked). Mask wearing was limited, but given capacity restriction, I was easily able to social distance. Concession stand was closed beginning of summer, but eventually opened (did not use). Rest rooms were continuously maintained (much more, I think, than during normal summer). Overall, perfect way to spend the day during this crazy time.
Great playground for all age groups. Kids love it and its right off the boardwalk, near mini golf and shuffleboard. We sometimes see rabbits and giant toads.
An amazing fine sand beach to spend the day with warm sand between your toes! a rather strong current makes the waves a little strong but fun for the kids and the life guards are on duty.my only concern were STABLE FLIES(aka dog fly, biting house fy, power mower fly) if you have exposed skin they will bite down with a sharp sting and despite efforts to swat them away they will not go far!if you are headed to these beaches I strongly suggest some sort of bug repellent!!
There was me on a Sunday, driving around to find some peace at the shore of the beach, Jones Beach, at this time, then l was thinking on how good will it be to have a place to sit & enjoy some time next to the ocean, suddenly l got in to the coffee shop and l was pleasantly surprised to find, in the middle of the winter, a great space with amazing views & quick pick up of some basic options that will complete your day.Who would have thought that l could find a great New England Clam Chowder, or the best french fries, beach version of course, that you can get in the area. A nice launch place that received people that slowly arrived and created such a nice atmosphere, l will definitely will be back to enjoy moments of peace & snacks after my winter shore walks!!!Very well done Nassau County!!!
Saw the light show here, it was amazing. Great way to entertain the family or go on a date!
This beach was great the board walk was awesome. The only thing make sure you go early cause parking sport will fill up fast. 10.00 dollar to go in is very cheap and worth it. From board walk to beach maybe 5 min walk. The water was a bit cold but refreshing. Lifeguards on duty almost 2 in every station. Was clean but very tough waves huge. Wear comfortable bikini and swim cloths cause was will take it right off. They have a bath house and showers also bar and ice scream shop. Board walk clean. They also have a obstacle course so you can do to. Worth the drive from Connecticut.
Beautiful, sandy beach, very clean. Very rough waves though. Currently 8/2020 no swimming is allowed in field 6 and probably the rest of the beach as well. Bathrooms are open.Field 10 is a nice and quiet place to fish, bait and tackle shop right there next to the parking lot. Several piers to choose from. Didnt catch anything though but there were plenty of people catching small snappers about 5 inches long. And someone caught a ray.
Great boardwalk along the ocean. A fantastic way to spend the afternoon when summer is over. No where the crowds but still enough people to make it feel safe and inviting. And its free.
Great time for kids, check height requirements before buying. On the kids course a parent can pay and accompany them. Adults be warned the coarse is made for kids so some of the obstacles are more difficult for adults then children. Staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire experience. Parents can also follow their kids from the ground.Covid precautions are followed and adhered to.Definitely will return in the spring. If you want to do the zip line check the weather. A wind coming from the east prevents them from opening it.If coming to the place from the west just be aware you have to drive past the place make a u turn just before the circle and park in the first field heading east. Once in the parking lot and after paying go all the way to the right. There is a tunnel there which puts you under the highway and pets you walk right to the structures. I believe they will also refund your parking with receipt but you should call to confirm.Book online before you leave to save some time.
Jones beach adapted to Covid very nicely! Occupancy seems to be capped off at half of the normal max. They enforce it by putting a cone in every other parking spot. Field 6 is the place to go for a really short walk to the beach, but you have to get there before 8 am otherwise youre out of luck because it fills up so fast. After that you can go to field 4 which should have some more room but a wayyy longer walk to the beach. And its not cramped at all because of the limited capacity and social distancing!
Great beach. With limited parking I recommend you get there early. It was not too crowded if your concerned about social distancing. Bring your own food there is no where to buy any. There was vending machines for water. ( 4 bucks yikes ) overall it was a good experience.
Nice and clean beach, water a bit rough and cold. At least they regulate capacity wasnt overly crowded with at least 10 feet space between the next group of people. Would have gotten 5 if the water was clearer and no biting flies.
First the good, plenty of parking fields so able to park without issue. Same as Robert Moses, only $10, still a great bargain as other beaches can run $40 or more. The bathrooms were clean and everyone was respectful of each others space and atmosphere. The bad, it is a LONG walk from the parking lot to the beach area where you set up shop. Fortunately we are back with the personal trainer for a few weeks so we made there and back without issue.
Socially distanced parking. Clean environment. Enough space on the beach to stay safely away from others (covid rules). Weather was fantastic on the day that we went. The seagulls were scary, though. They looked like they were plotting something.
Beautiful view and beautiful people. I loved how close it is to the city! You can drive down the long island expressway and youll be in this place in two hours. It is way better than the coney island beach, less crowded too.
Very clean and quiet. Not ideal for kids to swim due to strong current, but Zach’s Bay which is on the other side of the road is supposed to be calm.
Nice large beach. No radios or loudspeakers allowed on the beach so it’s a relaxing and quiet time away from the city. The water is salty and murky but nice to swim in. Large sandy beach good for flying kites and playing catch
Finally got down there and wasnt disappointed. Wide beaches with pristine sands and beautiful waters. Very nice boardwalk, plenty of parking off season.
I love Jones Beach!!! The boardwalk, the food, the different types of coast line. Amazing! Great piers for fishing and in some spots it’s so clear you can watch the crabs walking on the ocean floor! I can’t tell you how many picnics our family had here. So great to get away from it all and enjoy suntanning, clam digging, crabbing, fishing, swimming, shell collecting and so much more. I was always amazed at what the tide brought in. Sometimes crabs a foot across would be on the shore or maybe some horseshoe crabs. Definitely tons of pipe cleaner fish? Always an adventure at Jones Beach. Ci Migliore!
Field 5: The parking is social distanced, so the beach is not crowded. The sand fine and lovely. The waves can be a bit rough, but the water is warm. Rocks in the water so water shoes are highly recommended.
Gorgeous and well maintained beaches and park. Nice fishing piers.
This five mile stretch of beach is one of the few beaches that has east to west sunshine. Enjoyable boardwalk. The new bicycle and roller blade path that now runs from Merrick Road in Wantagh through Jones Beach and ending at the Town beaches is great.
Eh..lots and lots, and lots of walking for nothing. No good cafes or places to eat and beach becomes too crowded at times. Not for me anymore. When I was younger, it seemed nicer. Also noticed they removed the diving boards from the pool area grrr. For me, the place is more of a nostalgia thing than anything else.
Great place people respect social distance. Food trucks with great food!!! Easy parking
Great place to go when social distancing is an issue. Parking is free instead of $10. Take advantage of Indian summer weather
I’ve been always going to Robert Moses instead of Jones for over a decade. But WOW have they done a lot of renovations to this ENTIRE area.New boardwalk, new restaurants, clean restrooms all along the way and ample parking!
5am very empty quiet... love it.Sunrise didnt see it because of clouds..
Pleasant State beach with amenities like showers and food. Beach has plenty of room for social distancing if you go away from the main pavilion but of course people are like lazy sheeps even during Covid. Just walk a few hundred feet up or down but nope. We go pass everyone to the more quite, remote and relaxing area where its you, the water and seagulls.
Beautiful holiday lights love the experience!!! The music and comfort of traveling inside your own car was magical
Jones Beach is very nice for a metropolitan beach. In these times in the Covid-19 era, I must admit it feels a bit too crowded, but there is generally room to spread out with the exception of the waters edge. Parking is well organized and the Park Website has a seemingly well updated table of where to park that is updated throughout the day. Over all, we had a good experience with our young daughter and the beach was clearly well kept by its caretakers. We didnt venture down the boardwalk, but there are places to buy food and water and beach supplies open.
Hard to believe yesterday was November 8 and the temperature was in the 70s. A good day to visit Jones Beach
My today review about field 5There is 2 section in that field- the Bay section pictures I will put it first and is perfect for babies and has a playground but the sand color is soo dark and smelly- The ocean section is too hard to reach too much walking from the parking to reach the sand then another too much walking from the beagining of the sand to the beachAnd to use the restroom you have to walk to much againBut of caourse the beach was clean and the water was good if you like tge waves but little dangerous if your kids less than 10 you have to be next to them all the timeIf they can swim and above 10 will be so good
We were at field 6, and parked at field 5 coz parking was full in field 6. Went in Aug of 2020, so social distancing applied. It has a restroom in field 6, but showers are in field 5.Biiiiig beach! I didnt see the blue mats where we could roll our stuff so i dragged our stuff and it was a pain! Maybe they need to put more than 1? Either way, its all good. Beach is a beach.
Great to have such a beautiful park not far from where I live. Love to walk on the sand here. Basketball courts temporarily closed due to COVID-19.
Such a beautiful day to be at Jones! But why are they charging to get in, in November?! Thank goodness for my Empire Pass!!
As a Virgo, I am drawn to water. Bring on the cusp of Leo, I am drawn to the sun. Clearly. A y beach is excellent for me.While I usually take my walks along the waters edge, but to day I was drawn into the dunes. What a wonderful experience.
Very relaxing. We reached there after 6 pm. So there were very few people. The beach was okay. Just enjoyed the waves. It surely was great to just experience the beach with no hassle and enjoy natural waves and winds
My all-time favorite beach! Beautiful soft white sand and the perfect waves for swimming! I always get the perfect tan.
Field 1 is a family oriented one. I likes how quiet it was. I didnt feel overwhelmed with Gen Z or millennials trying to get unnecessarily drunk. My only reason why its not a 5 star review was because the bathrooms were like most state run facilities, kind of dirty.
Nice beach, clean water. $10/car for access. Lifeguards are present. No place to really BBQ as its not allowed on the beach and we didnt see any area that enabled it. Lots of parking available. Restrooms/showers available, but they get busy quickly. Would recommend a visit!
Nice beach but gets crowded. Not much open as far as concessions but you can grab a snack at the food truck or souvenirs at the beach store. Nice playground and mini golf for the family which is open!
Beautiful beach thats well-staffed and not too crowded - its a wonderful escape from the city and if youre driving, the trip goes quick.
Jones Beach State Park is a really nice getaway. Its right off the ocean whats more relaxing than sitting on the beaches on the ocean grabbing all that sunshine. On the other side of the road basically is the Bay area. Theres even a Jones Beach theater where they have all different concerts and music groups go to.,, But on the Oceanside is the best part of it its so relaxing and enjoy the waves. Bentos evening the most amazing sight is when the sun starts setting there is some beautiful pictures to be taken.
Very clean and the easy directions to the beach. Good parking and a nice place to explore and exercise.
What an incredibly beautiful place. Seemingly untouched with its wild beauty. It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City. The sand is soft and there are shells everywhere. We were fortunate to see some researchers trying to tag sharks, but who caught a stingray instead. Its incredible to realize how close to shore these incredible creatures are. We also saw horseshoe crabs that had washed ashore. The cafe served a delicious breakfast, but beware of the seagulls, who make quick dives to grab your food.
We went to Field 5. We did not realize the water was very shallow in field 5. However, it is perfect if you have little ones.
Getting to the parking lot at field 6 can be a little confusing, but once you get there the beach and bathrooms are straight ahead. If you get there early, its the most convenient location. On a weekday, you can easily get an isolated spot on the beach and have your own space in the water. The water is clean and clear, and so is the sand! No glass in your feet is definitely something to be happy about
All and all it makes it great with the showers! I will say it’s a long walk to the water. Robert Moses has a shorter walk. Just be ready to tow. They’ve also built back up the beach well and we were lucky to have beautiful clean water that day!
Last time I been here, I was maybe 6 years old. Forty+ years later, Its great to be back. Dont let the years slip by like I did. Go back. Especially if you can bring your kids and your parents. Have fun and enjoy!!
Free during the week after Labor day, pkng lot 6 has a walkway to the ocean making it easier for disabled friend to walk. Beautiful, spacious, fun. Boardwalk easy to walk on.
Nice beach, good food options, beautiful boardwalk. Beach gets overcrowded and people dont follow rules about blasting music. Overall nice experience!
We went in the evening and a good number were still on the beach as well as arriving. The weather was warm, the sand was clean and the water and sky were the bluest blue. Sitting on the boardwalk which is to the right of the Field 6 bath house we people watched and about 80% were wearing masks.
We went fo the magic lights, the line was very long but the lights were beautiful.
Its great to go here later in the day, the water is nice and cool to walk through and the sun isnt beating on you. I am planning to get a metal detecting permit just to go back and spend time time later in the day there while cleaning the beach (I doubt anyone would leave anything but bottle caps and cans, we live in NY)
Beautiful beach but a very long walk to the waters edge so pack light or bring a beach cart with big wheels that can handle the sand. Went to field five because Robert Moses was already full due to the 50% capacity rule because of Covid-19. There was a mix of young people and families and some were playing music a little loud but my husband and I didnt mind the lively atmosphere. Wonderful day all around.
I went in mid December so there was no one there and was a very nice area to take a nice beach stroll. If your ever looking for sea shells going here at this time of year is a gold mine. Easy parking and not a lot of people which is an absolute rarity in the NYC area. Looks like they also have a nice Christmas light display though I didnt see that as it was daylight!
This was my first time in New York and my visit to Jones Beach was fun. My wife had grown up here and Jones beach was part of her stomping ground. This is close to most towns on Long Island and easy to get to. Beautiful water and a great place to play. I would recommend.
This was an excellent day trip! If you are in the NYC Metro Area AND if you have time for a relaxing afternoon with your family, then I suggest you take either your family or a loved one for a relaxing day on the beach.
Obviously most people come to the beach to enjoy the water. Today/Sunday we arrived before 11:30am and were told prior to paying our $10 for parking that there was currently no swimming. Safety first of course, whether its concern over rip currents or sharks. Todays concern was sharks, but by 12:15 the helicopters were gone and the lifeguards changed the warning flags and swimming was allowed, yay! Water was quite clean and crazy warm, like tropical-like!Social distancing was followed by the majority of folks, parking spaces were blocked out and people were attentive about wearing masks as they came and left the beach. Unfortunately the bathrooms were out of order, so port-a-potties were the alternative.
Its amazing place to spend time with the family. Lots of new activities will keep you occupied. Enjoi...
I have been going to Jones Beach for many years and have been getting the Empire pass which is a great deal.I go for the health walk starting at field 6.I like how the mileage is marked out. Nothing beats a beautiful walk on the beach.
Jones beach is a classic. Been coming here since I was a teen. The ocean is very clean. The sand is pretty clean too. People are keeping their distance. The pool is closed. The walk from the parking lot to the beach is my least favorite part of my day. Its a long walk. The have blocked off every other spot to help social distancing which is great so you can have space to unpack your stuff or if you have children. Bathrooms are open. There are some vendors around.
It was great weather. Field 6 had open parking until dusk.
Great beach to see the ocean! Huge one so you can easily maintain social distance on sand as well as in water.Lifeguards are on duty all the time.If it is wavy be prepared to have pants full of sand if you swim.
Beautiful clean beach, nice clean soft sand, plenty of space for social distancing safety! Rough waves at times but lifeguards on duty
This is the first time to meet the moon with its reflection on the sea since this special spring.
Had a good day hanging out with the guys. Maybe at a month before age 66, I might be considered too old to hang out, but Im definitely too old to care.
Miles of clean white sand beaches, lots of outdoor activities, small restaurants and snack stands. Its a nice, quiet place where you can disconnect from everything and just enjoy the sound of the waves.
Lot 6. Very nice and spacious beach. Beautiful and clean. Only reason for 4 stars versus 5 was not showers, bathrooms are far walk. Everything was a far walk.
Its clean, its roomy, its everything you want in a beach.. even the parking fee is reasonable and Im talking about on the weekends.. so yeah, definitely try and make it there..theres even a Long Island bus thatll take you there
Absolutely beautiful beach! The sand is very clean and the beach is just what youd expect of the South shore. Supposedly this is the tourist beach and tends to crowd when good weather comes, so its best to go early and not have your heart set on a particular field (parking area). Be ready to do some walking, but its well worth it!
My kids and I love going to this beach. Their favorite spot is the playground. Mine is the boardwalk. This is such a lovely place to relax and enjoy time with your family.
Great time! Theyre doing a good job with keeping the parking lots at 50 percent capacity and the beach was very clean.
Went about 630pm. No charge to park. Had fun throwing the Frisbee, football with the family in the sand. Played mini golf. $5 a person. Band was playing in the band shell. Lights dont seem to ever work on the paddle tennis courts so gets dark. We had a lot of fun.
The beach is great; however people have issues with social distancing because they want to be close to the water.I really enjoy it and once it starts getting crowded, I just head out. There were actually people who set up chairs in the parking lot to avoid the crowds.
Its the year of the RONA & the summer wouldnt be summer if you cant go to the beach! I see everyone on here complaining about social distancing and not wearing masks on the beach (really, mask on a beach foh ), if youre that afraid I suggest you stay home. Dont go to the beach to try and ruin other peoples time. For the most part everyone keeps their distance (as possible) so that is never an issue, for me at least.I was never a big fan of Jones until I realized I was going to the wrong section lol... its mid-July and Ive gone more in the last 3 weeks than I did last summer! My girls & I will be here & Long Beach all summa long!
It was Great we love it, mostly its clean. Just put good sign where to Park. Thanks
The white sandy beaches were beautiful. You’ll have pay $10 for parking, which is not bad. The beach is clean. I was on beach 4, they had two restaurants, public restrooms, tennis court, volleyball court, public pool, and a beach obstacle course. Complete polar opposite of coney island.
New energy and nature center is pretty cool. Worth stopping by since there is currently no admission charge.
Great beach with plenty of sand, activities, amenities, free Wifi, nice long boardwalk for afternoon or morning walks!! Pretty busy and popular with big crowds. Nice bike path as well!!
Jones beach in long islands is really a great place. I parked in field 2 parking. It has enough space to park the car . Beach is not far from parking. Walkway to beach has carpet so it is easy to walk . Beach is pretty clean. I would certainly recommend anyone to visit jones beach in Long Island.
2020: Due to Coronavirus, only 50% parking capacity so though should get there by 11am THE LATEST. if you come later you might luck out as people who arrived super early might be leaving. Waves are always exciting ( be careful), have fun.
My vist to Jones Beach, after 10 or 12yrs was. Very pleasant as well too extremely excellent. God willing next year we can explore more overall
Field 6 is the Best we go surf fishing almost every Sunday .
The magic of lights show was terrible almost four hours waiting in traffic to see such a puny light show. Brooklyn has better neighborhood light shows for free.
Excellent place to have fun with our/your kids.
It was full of people. Sand was nice, the beach has strong waves that takes you out of the water. It was a good place to distress.
