It’s an old theater and seems outdated but I’m fine with that and it makes it to be unique and a neat aesthetic. It’s a great movie theater and in a convenient location. I recommend this theater, I’ve been going to it for a number of years and still do continue to return
A convenient theater for popular films. However, the bathroom is inconveniently located on the second floor. Staff are nice, snacks are great (lots of vegan options)! Parking can be found easily in the lot behind the theater (and not too expensive). If you arrive early, buy your tickets and then go for a walk by the Charles River. Plenty of opportunities for food & drink before or after the movie on Moody St.
My favorite place for relaxing myself watching a movie. Love it
This is a pleasant place to see a good selection of movies at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy, so if you want plush seats and a large selection of food, its not for you. I like that its low-key, youre not overwhelmed by ads, and the volume is reasonable. Its usually pretty quiet, so much so that Im a little concerned about its future. Its nice to have a little slice of Cambridge-style film programming near me.Go on Tuesday for a great deal.
Good local old fashioned theater. Prices are better than some of the bigger places. They did an interesting flavor your own popcorn station that I havent seen elsewhere.
It’s great to have a theater at my city and I do go often see a movie at least 2ice aMonth... their website is well done with lots of upcoming movies and general info ... good place for other functions as well ...
Small place but not too bad. Comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. They serve hot tea, very neat.
Came here the other day with my mom. The seats were extremely comfortable. We both had an amazing time!
Great local place to see first run movies!! So lucky to have it near by
Good local cinema! Comfortable seats and great variety of movie snacks.
Consistently good quality recent releases. They are kind to Senior Citizens as well. Parking generally convenient. Nice food selections across the street.
Big screens but no frills, not crowded, good prices, all makes this a great theature. A word to the wise: get there early, parking can be unexpectedly difficult if youve never been there before.
I enjoy coming here because of the convenience of the location and the less crowded location, with easier parking. You have to pay for it but its very reasonable. Its a smaller, more neighborhood type theater.Dont expect the same quality of venue or seating as in newer, mall like cinemas, but they have friendly staff, their movie selection is good, including non mainstream movies at times, and you get the feeling youre supporting a smaller franchise and local employment. Thats also a plus for me. Its rarely packed. Which is nice as well (maybe not so good for management I guess)The not so good stuff: Should not be your first choice if you are very picky on the audio and video qualities of the projections. Theyre acceptable but definitely not state of the art.No rewards program, that I know of, and bring a coat if cold outside. Its almost as cold inside. Guess theyre saving on heating
As someone new to the area, I was happy to see two local movie theaters within a short distance of my home. Ive only seen a handful of films at Landmarks Embassy Cinema, but have to say overall Ive been satisfied every time. The prices are a lot more reasonable than the other chains, the staff is courteous and friendly, and the theaters themselves are comfortable and well-maintained. They may not be state-of-the-art, but I will say Ive never had to sit through more than 2-3 trailers before the feature presentation, which is a great relief after years of being subjugated to the 20-30 minute never-ending pre-show tortures of AMC and Regal Cinemas. A good selection of mainstream and indie movies means Ill be coming back to this theater many more times.
This is a great theater to watch a great variety of films. Staff are respectful, pleasant, helpful. Parking is easy - use machine for ticket to post on your dash. They have room to show #6 films, a good concession stand with variety of food choices.
Nice clean theater. Parking can be tough but generally available.
A cozy little theater with new movies being played makes it a great place for a date or even just for a casual movie-goer. Theyve got a slightly more expansive food selection as well compared to most of the theater chains which is definitely nice to see and they all the employees are very friendly. I recommend the pigs in a blanket.
A great little theater. Outdated seats by todays fancy standards but dont let that shy you away from this great space. Usually a awesome selection of updated and sometimes indie films. The food and snacks all taste great. Bathrooms are upstairs which is not fun when you want to go quickly. If you like this place I suggest buying a book of tickets for a much cheaper ticket on your visits.
I wish they had more movies here! Sometimes we want to avoid crowds and see things like Lego movie but they dont often get movies like that. Other than that, great employees and prices.
The snack bar is way over priced. I always bring my own popcorn.
Great old school cinema. You get what you expect, which includes good movie selections and normal seats (kind of old but not so dirty or ratty to complain about). Clean bathrooms and more.
Nice little theatre. Theres public parking after 6(?) half a block down, so thats nice. There are a couple of places to eat -- pubs, pizza, sit-downs -- in the area so its not bad. Ive stopped by here on my commute home from work.
Fabulous! And the movie The Biggest Little Farm is one of the best films I have ever seen. Thank you L.E. for running it!
Great theater! Management and staff very friendly!
Neighborhood gem. A classic theater with great movies, popcorn, and staff. Love this place!
Great theater, nice staff, great movies, great movie quality, affordable tickets, and good show times. The only reason this isnt five starts, is that the food is overpriced.
Rating mostly for food. Would like to see better options.
Good theater and at a convenient spot.
Its no-frills compared to a larger theater, but still a great convenient spot for date night!
The seats are comfy and are still seats; not vinyl covered recliners. The popcorn is freshly made. Theres also a decent selection of snacks that should accommodate most patrons. Movie theater done well.
Great, classy, and open air in the reception area even though it was very small. The theater room that we were in (Cinema 1) was pretty good, although there was some weird, hard-to-describe lighting issue before the film started. The projection and audio quality were also very good.
Great place to watch a movie.
Comfortable place with great staff.
Best choice of films. Available parking.
A cute little theater. Old fashioned seats which of course arent as comfortable as the newer AMC and Showtime ones, but its in a busy part of Waltham and offered a movie that wasnt shown in my towns theater. $11.50 for adults and $9.50 for seniors and students. I didnt catch the kids price. I didnt see any elevators for the bathrooms on the second floor, so maybe call ahead and ask if you need accessability. It was pretty clean and friendly staff.
Cool retro theater. 5 stars for open seating!
Old school movie theater. No reclining seats or crazy sound systems. But thats OK with me. I dont always believe those kind of pricey frills are worth it. They have the typical blockbusters but also tend to have movies you dont see at the monster theaters. You know the Oscar winners you never heard of before nomination time? Well chances are they played here. Staff is friendly and the popcorn is freshly made and amazing. Even the butter topping seems to be better than AMC or Showcase.Worth a look.
Nice small theater, always clean, with some great snack options. Seats are standard, none of the special recliners but I kind of prefer that... No reserving seats last minute and getting stuck in the front corner craning your neck. The seats are set up well, so that you never get uncomfortable trying to see the screen, even in the front row. They have half price tickets on Tuesdays and show all the hit new movies plus some indie flicks. Definitely a go-to for Waltham residents.
A small but older theater. Its no Imax experience but if youre able to get into movies itll do the job. The decor reminds you of the history of movie theaters. Concessions has all the essentials but youll be able to bring a drink in if youre sneaky enough and dont want to pay movie theater prices. The seats arent that comfortable. Overall a good but not awesome experience.
Really nice little theater. Plenty of seats, great selection of hot tea. Only issue is the screens are a little small, but as long as youre not going there for Interstellar or Dunkirk its a great choice
Whats not to love about this theater? Comfortable seats, convenient and inexpensive parking, yummy fresh popcorn, and more than just fountain drinks to choose from if youre feeling parched. On a budget? Tuesdays are $6 movie tickets all day ($9 for 3D). Ive been coming here for years and have never had a complaint.
Nice little movie theater with reasonable prices for both tickets and snacks. I feel like they should maybe have a small seated waiting area so that I dont have to wander around town when they are not seating for movies yet but thats just a small thing. Bathrooms were also very clean which I appreciate!
Like others mentioned, the parking here is a bit hidden, but its around to the rear of the building. Staff was great, and the theater definitely gives off early 90s vibes when inside. Concessions werent too pricey, but soda is higher comparably. Seating was flat rows, and the seats were plenty comfy, but more auditorium than easyboy style. I certainly recommend coming here if its closer than other big brand theaters
Love this theater and the Moody Street restaurants nearby. Best place in metro-west for a movie and a dinner. Love that movies here start on time, with only a few previews.
Nice employees! Good popcorn!
Been coming here for years. A great cinema!!
The popcorn is the absolute best! Quaint little theater. Always my first choice for movie going. Maybe someday they will upgrade to the plush recliner seating that a lot of other theaters are getting but if not, oh well. The popcorn makes up for it! Love this theater!
Very good employee selling tickets when I visited. Tuesday shows are $6. At least the first show airing, the other shows???
Fun time! Love the atmosphere. Only thing was the theater was a little chilly. Possibly season and time.. But definitely liked the place.
A smaller cinema. Sometimes movie titles featured are limited. Great discount Tuesday deal. 50% off tickets every Tuesday for any film. Its a pity the bathrooms are all the way upstairs but if you dont mind a bit of a hike then it wont bother you at all. The cinemas rooms are clean and well kept.
Yes, a funky old independent theater with customers who enjoy old classic films, film noir, and occasionally new films...youll feel at home here and the staff really helps create a good atmosphere....this is in Waltham, Mass. Where the American Industrial Revolution really got going...and theres a museum honoring that just 1500 feet distant..
Great old school feel with new movies. Parking easy but pricey. I wish the bathrooms were closer to the actual theaters as well. Overall I go here all the time and its a simple in and out theatre with no frills.
Nice old theater Reasonable prices
I used to live down the street from this place and I really liked it. it had a low-key feel to it. It was clean, sound was good, picture was good, and the staff is nice and knowledgeable about film Also, its nice to walk around Moody street post movie watching.
I enjoy the atmosphere of this type of small local theaters. Though that I read here that the sound quality is poor, I decided to watch Amy there. I enjoyed the movie very much and the sound was perfect. I always check the program at Embassy Cinema because they sometimes show the good independent or indie movies that you cant find anywhere else. I especially love the 6$ tickets on Tuesdays.
Comfortable NON-RECLINING seats. Clean and the best movies
Its an older theater, so it doesnt have stadium seating or the biggest screens. It does have good snacks and great popcorn. And it is always clean and the staff is very friendly.
Nice place, even when seats are not as fancy, theres also just the right amount of people to enjoy a movie without a lot of mumbling from others
Love this place. Small, multi cinema for a small town. Always good selection of movies. Not a big chain which I rather avoid.
Great theater right on Moody Street. Employees are so nice. Good discount rate on Tuesdays. Waltham is fortunate to have this place.
Great pricing and convenient if you live in Waltham, or are touring. Makes you feel connected with the community. As other people have mentioned, the employees are all great people. Dont miss the movie deal on Tuesdays!
I love the Waltham Embassy Cinema. Its within walking distance of many restaurants on Moody Street, parking is really convenient behind the theater, and they show great movies. Cant ask for much more than that.
A cute charming little theater that is a nice change from all the identical massive chains. Seats and screens are good and they show some decent movies that other places dont carry.
Friendly local theater with helpful staff. Indoor parking adjacent for a dollar or two. Good mix of big name and more artsy movies.
I love coming to Embassy to see movies with my family in a comfortable and cozy environment. This theater might not be as big as other theaters around, but the cheaper tickets and the friendly staff definitely make it worth the while.Since the location is right off Moody St. in Waltham, you could spend your whole day walking up and down Moody St then head on over to Embassy for a movie. Perfect for those days off and summer vacation!
Quaint. No upgraded seats, no reservations, just like we did it in the 2000s...
A great cinema in all the important ways but no pomp and circumstance. Here are a few highlights...Staff. Some of the nicest people Ive ever seen in a cinema. Most movie theaters have disinterested teens or worn-down middle aged folks who either dont care at all or just care about the company policy that applies at the moment. The staff at this Embassy Cinema have been genuinely and consistently polite sometimes even cheerful. They listen, sometimes smile and try to help. They do not make a request seem like an imposition. They are surprisingly great in a realistic way.Films. There is a good mix of art house and popular films. I end up seeing both types here. It seems that each showing I go to has a healthy group of people but no fights for good seats.Atmosphere. The theater is not fancy, but the seats are reasonably spaced and pretty comfortable. The atmosphere is so much better than at West Newton and other haughty art house movie theaters. It may be a the clientele that make those places rough. It is a relief not to hear some loud couple in their 60s complain about anything and everything before having their new iPhone ring during the film because they dont know how it works and then leave while complaining again about how tough it was to find a parking spot for their white Mercedes.
Good prices (for a theater) and helpful staff. Clean bathroom. Seats could be more comfortable.
This is a lovely theatre with a retro but stylish scene. No long noisy lines or crowds to contend with. Welcoming staff. No blasting volume or freezing AC, just comfortable and clean accomodations.
Excellent experience and LOCAL!!
Believe 10 movies at the theater. all on the first floor. has parking . clean.
Excellent old school theatre very nostalgic for me good sound
Cute little theater. Convenient to moody st and all the stuff to do there. Worth the stop.
Decent prices. Well maintained. Easy to get to as it is close to the Waltham stop. One of the best places to catch a show.
We like this place because its not a giant multiplex.
Convenient small theater in heart of Waltham. Gets pretty good movie selection. Easy since its not too big. The parking lot was a bit hard to find access to but otherwise no issues.
Small, not crowded and friendly staff. Excellent location near Moody st restaurants. Seats not as comfortable as a newer theatre.
My favorite neighborhood theatre. They have a good mix of standard movie fare, as well as independents. Great parking available and free on Sundays.
Great local theater! Always a great experience
Great local cinema with 5 screens showing Independent films and popular hits. Only complaint is they havent upgraded to modern theatre luxury seating yet.
Uncomfortable, tiny theater with an unimpressive screen. No free parking, no atm to pay the parking fee. I cant really imagine why anyone would want to come here, save for all the shops and restaurants on moody st. Lots of positive reviews on this place from folks who I assume havent been to the nicer cinemas around Mass (AMC, Regal, etc), where seats are upgraded to recliners and screens are larger.
Small cinema with current films. Intimate with old fashion seating, not stadium lounge chairs. Half price Tuesdays.
Ive always liked the Embassy. It has kind of a hip, funky feeling to it. For a while it seemed that it wasnt carrying many films that were (IMO) worth watching...but their offerings have gotten much better in recent months. The upstairs bathrooms are a bit inconvenient if you have to use them during a film. On the other hand theyre immaculately clean.
One star for the nice staff. Small seating, small screen. The worst-- misleading parking!
They just started carrying more hot food including White Castle burgers. They get them frozen, bun, cheese and all, but surprisingly decent for what they are.
I like this theatre because it is inexpensive and easy enough to park. The theatres/screens are a little on the small side, but its usually not super crowded, which is nice.
Comfortable place to see a movie.
I loved watching movies here. They had a lot to offer and the showings were great.
Its always good to find yourself in a theater that features many foreign films that peak ones interest.
Not worth the cost..I feel $14 is definitely not worth wasting on this theater.. Considering the pathetic seating and other facilities they shouldnt even be charging $8 for this.. Should go to this theater only of there is no other option left. Very small screen and poor sound quality as well.. A home theatre system with a comfy couch is a much better option.
Good movie theater with discount $6 Tuesdays!
The best popcorn in Boston! The cinemas have light coming in from the hallway through the doors which was a little distracting but overall a great place to watch movies :)
Tuesdays are the best: tiny audience, cheap seats... like your own private screening!!
I love this theater! Good selection of movies, the best popcorn (and they have Cherry Coke!), and super nice staff.
Nice suburban multi screen theater although a little dated. Parking deck free at night, low fee daytime.
Very nice stuff. Small screens. This place has the best popcorn. Poor parking availability
This old, but mighty movie theatre is really great. I’ve went there with my freind to see Thor Ragnorock. 5/5
Old theatre but excellent customer service and many good and trendy dining options on Moody. Parking behind theatre in municipal parking part senior center housing (area ticketed do be careful)
