Small but exciting! Lots of different wildlife exhibits with an assortment of interesting animals to learn about. Two separate kids play areas (a pretend vet spot and a place for smaller kids with blocks and books). Clean bathrooms, helpful and friendly staff, overall a great place to take small children. Not very crowded early on the weekend. The parking lot is small, but the Experience borders a large open park with 2 play structures and a public pool that also has a kids splash park in it.
The place is small but pack with different things. It kept my 11 year old very engaged but my 8 and 5 year old did not stay entertained as long. The place has a natural history area with stuffed animals, preserved bird and insects, mineral exhibit, and more.l downstairs. Upstairs they have many exhibits with animals to see like birds, porcupines, snakes, roadrunner, rats, and more. While we were there they had a person showing off a gopher snake that the kids could touch. They have shows but do to the times it did not work into our schedule. We were able to get free passes for two of us through Discovery Go with my library card. There is a nice park with playground and grass area outside.
A nice place for toddlers & little kids to visit and explore. Price is fairly. We used our CDM membership for discounted tickets. Easy parking. There is an additional parking lot across the street, provided by the church. The staffs do a great job on taking care of animals and keep the environment clean. Amazing!!!
Clean and educational little place. Very friendly people who work here. If you are Oakland Zoo members, you get a discount on admission. Loved the owls here and the bald eagle. Good for a variety of ages. It’s not very big, but the exhibits are good. We enjoyed the eagle experience. Small parking lot, but easy to park on a weekday morning. Nice park across the way, a good way to spend the morning.
We brought a feather in for identification today that we found in our backyard. We have always loved visiting this place, but they went above and beyond this trip. They worked with my son to identify it (turned out to be a turkey) and he was absolutely thrilled. We ended up donating the beautiful specimen. Wonderful place with equally wonderful people.
I know, this is going to seem odd, when I was attending a church here in Walnut Creek, we had services here for a period of time. We had our Easter service here. This is a way cool place.
Caring staff treat and rehabilitate injured native wildlife.
At first thought this place was small and boring but found out just cute enough for my kids to enjoy. Liked that the staff was all friendly and knowledgeable. Place was clean . Also the deal to sign up for membership was worth it. You get access to all theses places. Also like that there was a nice park right next door walkable to enjoy another hour of fun with kids. Would come back!
Awesome place to go to but it is pretty pricey for what you get. However I would recommend every local person attend, it is amazing the work they do for the animals. There is a behind the scenes vet room, you can see many birds of prey up close. There are all sorts of critters in nice cages, play room, animal make believe stuff, movie documentaries, experts, opportunities to touch certain animals. They had a porcupine the last time we went in August 2018. I love the owls, theyre my favorite! Theres also an eagle, pretty awesome! All the animals are rescued, many are returned back to the wild, but the ones who cant survive are kept here or sent to a zoo. There is also a really nice park attached to it called Larkey Park. There are bathrooms inside the facility, they are nice, and drinking water. Outside there are also bathrooms as you walk down the path toward the park. There is also a walking trail that heads out from the park, too. And there is an amazing swimming pool and splash area. So if you want to come for the day you can bring a whole picnic thing, water gear, and some cash and youll have an amazing fun day!
Nice place for a fun visit. They have an outdoor raptor recess area where they take the raptors out for daily exercise. They also have an indoor exhibit where the birds of prey stay, and also other animals like a porcupine, opossum, rabbit, etc. They have a theater room with one way glass so you can watch a part of their animal hospital, and other daily activities. I would definitely check the website or call ahead to see what they have when, so you can go when they have the activities you want to see. This is also home to the oldest living turkey vulture known in captivity. Great place to take the kids, and lots of fun/cool stuff in the gift shop.
I brought an injured baby hummingbird and the folks here took it straight back to help it. Very friendly people who definitely care about the wildlife. Please donate what you can to this beautiful place.
They put on special animal encounters that you have to sign up for online. Its not something you can just show up for due to limited space. With that in mind this place is a real treat. Everyone is really helpful and the displays are interactive. There is extra parking across the street at the church.
This is small yet exciting place for kids. You can get up close to wild birds, you can see behind scene of vet, observe bees and touch lizards. My kids are 7 and 8, but they loved it!
Beautiful exhibits and great employees.
Fun family place with lots of green space
To see all the animals was beautiful. The bald eagle was gorgeous. This museum has everything from a rat to snakes. It is worth a visit
Great place for a short visit. Small tours throughout the day. All animals are not able to be reintroduced to the wild doo doo injury or something like that like that.
Great place. You can see various animals from real close and even touch some of them. People working there are very nice and helpful.
Wonderful experience for adults and kids. It is a rescue hospital for wild animals and that part you cannot see but they have Ambassador animals on exhibit which are animals that cant be returned to the wild for various reasons that you can see and observe. How are age range was 6 and 1/2 to 72 years old. We all had a great time
Always fun, and educational. Always something new to learn through exhibits or their presentations with animals.
Awesome place to observe and learn about local wildlife, especially raptors. Lots of hands on exhibits for kids, including petting some of the creatures like the porcupine, snakes, rabbits, etc. Also, the staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable. A local gem!
For the relatively low cost of admission (refer to other admission prices in the Bay Area), this institution is actually really good. The talks with the docents and animal handlers are quite nice! But some of the exhibits need repair, as do the kids books and play toys. Some exhibits just need more content.
Such a fun place to bring kids to! They rescue animals and release them back into the wild; in some cases, the animals wouldnt survive in the wild, so they stay at Lindsay. Their computer systems were down that day, so they gave everyone free admission. They bring the birds on top of their habitats so you can get a really close look at them. The employees there are really friendly and tell you a lot about the animals. We got to pet an opossum and get close toa golden eagle. Theres also a surgery room where you can watch them operate on animals, as well as a taxidermy exhibit.
Lindsay Wildlife Experience is a blast and I love their animals have a great day stay safe stay home
Wonderful second opportunity for wildlife hurt by humans, and wonderful staff passionate about their work
I took a foundling sick baby bird, a large bird...to their wildlife hospital. They took him in to try to save the poor creatures life. I was very distraught when I arrived. They made me feel like it was going to be ok, I had done all I could do, now they would take care of it. It was a wild bird & not doing at all well. It is in Gods hands. I prayed & w/a place like this to help w/no charge to me, is very wonderful.Thank youLindsay Wildlife
Had a wonderful time with the wildlife ambassadors. They have many birds of prey, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians and have scheduled feeding times and also have educational talks with the animals. They provide hospital care to animals all over area and the state. Highly recommended visit. Great for kids.
Great place to bring the kids! Super educational. Cute gift shop with a park within walking distance, lots of fun exhibits with live animals. They even have a walkthrough garden. Definitely would recommend if youve never been! The volunteers are super friendly and adults/teens can volunteer and learn more about the animals as well!
This is a great place to see rehabilitated animals that would not necessarily survive on their own in the wild. We saw owls, hawks, an entire active bee hive, snakes, rabbits, guinea pigs, a porcupine, and an eagle.Plus if you’re lucky enough to be part of a tour of the hospital side, you can also see animals that are being nursed back to health for release back into the wild.
This place is pretty overrated. Its nice for any kid under 5 but you really can be in and out of there within 5 minutes and that to me just isnt worth paying for. Definitely not a place Id recommend to anyone without children.
A good place to spend a couple hours with the kiddos. Definitely not more than a morning though. They have small animals that they bring out for kids to interact with.
This place is great. Real live raptors right in front of your face. Other local wildlife as well. Small yet amazing.
Purchased a VIPeak session as a gift and loved it. Great experience to meet different animals, and be educated on all aspects of their lives. Returned recently and bought a membership which were excited to use in the new year!
Great and affordable place to take the kids for an afternoon. My son really enjoyed seeing the unique animals up close, and the staff is so friendly and always willing to answer your questions and tell you more about the animals. It also sits on a great park and playground with lots of green space to run around, and multiple play structures for different ages of kids.
This place is a fantastic destination for the whole family! We are members and love it every time we visit!
Such a wonderful place. I took my 10 month old daughter here (she loves seeing animals) and I had such a great time myself! Lovely to see all these beautiful animals. We even watched a small presentation about salamanders which was educational and fun. I am definitely coming back and bringing my husband (he is jealous he missed out!). They have many different types of owls and hawks.
My friend and I brought a baby bird, it was quite large not the little biddyBirds big baby anyhow the staff was very pleasant took the big baby bird had a bed all set up with food and a bottle, we call ahead to make sure it was the right place I highly recommend if ever find wild animals or birds dont attempt to feed call wildlife in the area found or humane society
I love this place! yes, i went here for my 26th birthday and one of the oldest people there, but i don’t CARE! the owls were especially dope!
Weve been a members for a few months, and its been really awesome. We love this place!
An amazing experience. They rescue so many wildlife creatures and share some of the animals that cant be released. Great for adults and kids, with very nice facilities. I would highly recommend going to anyone who likes native wildlife.
OMG! I got to see some of the most beautiful birds, porcupine, a screech owl. AND my 1st close look at the American Bald Eagle, so majustice! I love this place!
This place is a gem. The work they do to save wildlife and educate children is a true public service. Im so happy to be a member and bring my child here. Not to mention my daughter loves it here! She is a huge fan of the eagles.
Every time we go to Larkey Park, we visit Lindsay Wildlife. We love this museum because they always have interesting expositions with live animals, and kids learn a lot.
Awesome experience. Great folks taking care of injured birds and animals
Small local wildlife rescue and display museum. Its ideal for an hour visit during hot or cold days. They have birthday rooms and special events. The gift shop has lots of interesting and informational books and games. The general admission is too expensive for a one day experience. Its best to get a family membership.
Even though it breaks my heart to know most of these birds will never recover enough to go back into the wild being able to see them so up close really allows you to to appreciate the intricate beauty they poses. A great education experience for all.
Here, you have the opportunity to see up close hawks and owls that are being well cared for, despite their typically having broken wings. The staff are very knowledgeable and give great presentations on the hawks, owls, and eagles in their care.
Love this place! Beautiful setting. A great place to take the kids to educate them appreciation of our planets wildlife. Staffed by volunteers and supported by donations...so if you can donate, please do so!
Great place to have fun and learn about animals. Great for the family.
Awesome place to teach kids love and care for nature and wildlife. Something to do for all ages. Small kids will enjoy rabbits and Guinea pigs, older will like birds and operation room. Multiple workshops throughout the day. Plenty of parking. Gift shop.
Always a great place to take the kids. Although at the age of 4 my girls still have an issue completely seeing some of the exhibits, they have to step on their tippy toes or be picked up. The exhibits consist of the surrounding wildlife life birds, reptile and rodents. I particularly enjoy the see though behive, they have a bird flying simulator and a live informational exhibition telling about the different animals they take care of. There are many volunteers around to explain to you about the many animals in detail. And after you can take your kids to the park only steps aways.
Neat to learn about the museum’s rescue efforts (on a daily basis!) My kids loved learning about compost and digging for worms + looking at all the animals. Bonus that there’s a playground nearby!
We went to the Lindsay for a school field trip and it was just perfect. The staff was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The exhibits were interesting enough to keep two small kids interested for two hours. (They would have happily stayed longer; I was the buzz kill that made us go home.) Definitely worth checking out.
Fun and educational activities. Great variety of small animals.
This is a fantastic place for people to learn about wildlife! And to educate the people that are unaware of their wildlife habitat that surrounds all of California. They need to have more of these places.
Fantastic learning center with information and cool wildlife experiences and talks
This is a great place for anyone who appreciates nature, especially if you want to learn more. Watching the veterinarians in action is one of the coolest things you can do there, but I love raptors so the close-up views of all their ambassadors (a group of birds of prey, mostly owls, that are permanent residents at the museum due to their inability to fly) is my favorite part. Its also great for little kids, and the price is very reasonable!
The rescue center is a nice place to visit. There is overflow parking at the church across the street. The Center is a non-profit and they charge admission. The building is clean and the restrooms are maintained. The animals are friendly and arent afraid This indicated to me that the rescuers treat them well.
Great place for the kids. The talks and outside lectures are what makes this museum. Great for the kids.
Rescue and Care for Wounded Wildlife Animals. Staff and volunteers very knowledgeable and courteous.
I came to the Lindsay wildlife experience to drop off a bird that I found and we ended up going to the little museum and it was really wonderful!! I dont have kids but there is a lot to do with your kids there you should take them. Im going to take my niece when she gets older
I went to the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital to take a injured reptile. They were very helpful and caring to the animal. Since it was a wildlife and native to California I could not keep it as a pet to care for, so they took care of it and nursed it back. LWRH gave me a number to call so I can check up on how the animal was doing. I donate to them always to help them out, I encourage others to do the same
Fantastic place!
This is such an amazing community program! It is worth visiting and seeing the shows. Their bird programs are particularly well developed with lots of hands on and visuals for the kids. The park surrounding the museum is great, so there really is a lot for kids here.
The wonderful volunteers at the hospital kindly stayed opened past 7pm because I called and told them I had found baby Scrub Jay that was hurt and fell out of the nest. I really appreciate their help! The baby bird really needed help and Im so glad they were there do just that.
This was a spontaneous stop for us driving through Walnut Creek, and boy are we glad we stopped. What a cool place! Good information and tons of live animals to see.
The staff was very kind and helpful and always had smiles to share with other people.
Where else, other than Hogwarts, can you see so many gorgeous owls? The owls are my favorite but there are also other raptors including a bald eagle, snakes, possums and more, all native California creatures that have been rescued due to injury or other issues. Its relatively small, but very accessible for the younger set. The interactive exhibits were especially popular with the 3-10 year olds. The 3 and 5 year olds with me really enjoyed the veterinary dress up area where they engaged in an extended imaginative play session. They also have really interesting presentations throughout the day. While we were there we watched volunteers and a vet do the health intake exam on a family of baby squirrels whose nest had fallen from a tree. Its attached to a nice park with a playground and plenty of room for picnicking. If you find a wild bird or creature in distress this is the place to take them!
The most amazing place. Even for adults. Kids are amazed at the animals all around. This place does a great job of interacting the animals with the kids and bringing the information down to a young childs level. Definitely will go back.
Great place to take your kid. My daughter was able to pet a bunny, rat and get close to a turtle and she enjoyed her time there.
I was awestruck at the beauty of these magnificent birds and the education provided here on the wildlife in the East Bay area. The wildlife rescue work they do is vital to our environment.
The museum was good. But had a bad experience at the hospital. I will never bring anything I rescue to that hospital ever again. They decided to euthanize these healthy animals without letting us know. No one has the right to play GOD but he himself.
It is a great place for kids. It is a hospital that take csre of found animais. They have plent of animals that cannot survive on wild anymore.
Great place to bring the family or a date! Plenty to see and experience
Its a good place for toddlers to visit.
Its always fun! I love how we feel like special guests when we go and not usually too crowded.
Great place to bring family because its very educational.
Direct interaction with caring people who want to change the world one child at a time...what more can you ask for?
Been here a couple times with my boys. They love watching the animals and going through the exhibits
Educating exhibits! Friendly and knowledgeable staff! In addition to the exhibition, they are doing an important job of rehabilitation of injured wildlife! Great place to come with kids. Nice gift shop.
Great for kids. Super animal non-profit for the local community and Northern California!
My son and I absolutely love coming here to see the animals and the presentations. The people are always do nice and I love seeing how they take care of the animals.
Were up in the Bay Area for weekend visiting family havent been to the Lindsay Museum since I was a boy. My son thoroughly enjoyed all that Lindsay Museum had to offer. I would definitely bring my family in my sign here again
Great little place to see some injured birds and learn about the great animal rehabilitation that goes on there. See lots of real animals and lots of taxidermied animals. You may also be able to observe an animal being rehabilitated in the hospital viewing area. Great for kids.
Cool place for kids. Chaperoned on a field trip here and kids loved it.
Love the Lindsay Wildlife experience. Well worth the trip to learn about local wildlife and see the ambassadors up close! I work as a volunteer at the hospital and it’s amazing to see how much people care about these beautiful creatures.
Although it was a small museum, it was still engaging and informative.
This wildlife area exceeded our expectations! Weve been to a similar wildlife area in the past from our hometown, but this was amazing! They had several different live birds on show, but dont worry, these birds are only there because they cannot live in the wild. They also take care of several injured animals around the area, which you can see by going into their museum. Definitely worth the small amount we spend (I thought it was ~10 bucks a person).
Fantastic staff, well cared for animals, a good purpose. Lovely!
Nice place for kids to see and experience animals.
Such a treat to observe amazing owls up close.
This is the largest wildlife hospital and theres so much to learn and do and see there!
There were some cool and educational exhibits. (We got in for free) but I think we would have been disappointed if it had been something we paid forNot bad, just small.
Brought a scrub jay here I found on the side of the road. Lovely staff and an amazing community to be involved with. Volunteering here is a joy and the programs are always amazing, whether leading or listening.
Highly suggest checking this place out. We went on a rainy day and enjoyed it so much we bought the yearly pass. They have live owl’s and do a great job of interacting with kids with workshops and classes. We got luck and showed up on the same day they had a live Reindeer exhibit which was so good my 5 year old sat thorugh the full 30 minutes.
Very cool place with lots of fun and interactive exhibits. It kept our family entertained all afternoon.
Wonderful place to visit and learn about wildlife.
Really enjoyed the scout program. Very interactive and informative.
