Some great bands coming thru one of the few remaining jazz clubs in the Bay Area. Decent wine and beer offerings. Free Buffett before the show. A great sounding room. Be sure to get their early as most nights have been standing room. Closes kind of early but that gives you time for a meal before heading home. If your looking for some live music in the tri valley look no further

Fantastic venue. Small, intimate, but not crowded at all. Staff are all really nice. Owner is great, really building a nice community of people who appreciate music. I went here for New Years with a few friends and we had a great time listening to some accomplished musicians who had never played together before have a conversation via a music jam. Music was fun and danceable. Included buffet was a nice as well.

The Impulse Room provides good adult jazz music and entertainment . The setting is intimate, hip, and conducive to feeling part of the music being performed. The owner is welcoming and congenial and so is the staff, all of whom are diligent in their efforts to make you feel comfortable and satisfied with the beverages and food being served. The $18 door charge includes a catered buffet meal served from 5-7:30 P.M. The wine and beer selections are very good. There is a dress code and no hat policy which keeps the mood intact for the fine jazz being performed. If youre looking for fine musical entertainment in a great intimate setting, I wholeheartedly recommend the Impulse Room.Sincerely,Buck J. Cheshire

Im 51 years old. Ive been in the Walnut Creek community for 22 years. I would suggest, patronize this place. Keep in mind in order for a business to survive we have to spend money for it to stay a float and than reinvest in our community. This is the best yet, so embrace and enjoy. Its a great place and Im sure it will get even better in time with your support. I love this place!

This place is a treasure for Walnut Creek. A glimpse of a bygone era where people dress up, listen to inspirational music, have a drink and eat tasty food. Commonly know as a Supper Club, there aren’t many left. Support this place. Good people, good food, good drink and music. Oh yea really nice seats to sit in too. Party on is style!

Not the kind of jazz expected. I was really hoping for a nice night of live jazz, relaxing, instrumental. Instead there were people being brought from the audience to dance and sing in the performance area, a lot of talking and jokes from the musician, and then a soul train line...at a jazz club. I wasnt feeling it.

It wont be long. We plan on opening late summer 2016. Live Music W-F and Dancing on Saturday. All forms of Jazz which includes some songs and artists you have heard but many you have not. Traditional and classic sounds to modern influenced beats that even roll into both an R&B and Latin flavor. This is not a place playing the same old cover songs and standards over and over.

The musicians themselves were stellar with a resume to back it up, but this place needs some work to reach its potential. Full bar for starters, and kill the buffet. Pay for an extra staff member and have them bring small plates to the patrons. The owner clearly loves jazz and it shows.

I like the fact that they do the complementary buffet. The food was actually surprisingly decent, so its a pretty good way to get dinner and see a live performance. They offer a reasonable list of wines and bottled beers. If theres any place for improvement, Id say they could use more food offerings, especially post-buffet, and a whiskey bar. Or maybe a cocktail bar, at least.

Awkward. The concept is GREAT, but the execution is definitely lacking. The layout is very awkward because the room is long and narrow and theyve placed the stage area half way down the wall. This means they face only about 1/4 of the audience - the ones in the uncomfortable bar stools. Everyone else - in the amazing club chairs - has to view the band from the side. Also, theres a front window the staff insists on keeping open (I suppose to attract attention) that causes a terrible glare from the lights outside. This means over half the people in the comfy club chairs cannot see the band very well due to the glare. The buffet should just go away. Theres no need for this and its quite terrible. Ours was plain rice, undercooked noodles of some sort, salad with sparse dressing, and some kind of chicken. This does not add to the value of the experience. The band - when they played - was good. However, the band leader talked most of the time - had lots of friends in the audience. Very annoying for those of us who paid for a concert!!To the owner:I LOVE the idea of this club. I know your heart is in the right place, but if you want it to become world-class and not just a flash in the pan, consider these thoughts:1. The open curtain is not your best marketing tool - your best tool is social media and this glare will keep people from having an immersive experience and reduce these positive reviews. It would serve you well to close the curtain to allow the attendees to truly get lost in the music.2. The buffet 2 hours early is ridiculous. Youd be much better off to serve basic hors doeuvres that people can grab within 30 mins before the show starts.3. Though the seating is excellent, the layout is clunky and uncomfortable. One either gets a good view or a comfortable seat - not both. Please consider repositioning the band at the back of the room - or even at the front where that open curtain is! Either way would be better because, though the people at the back would be farther away (which they are anyway - and literally no one wants to sit there as it is), at least they would be able to see the band straight-on.Ill try this place again in a few months to see if the ambience has improved and to see a different band with a leader that is more focused on the music and less talking.

1/26/17If youre looking for somewhere new to meet up with friends and enjoy a night out, consider checking out some live jazz music at Walnut Creeks Impulse Room! This jazz lounge is located near Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek and their musicians perform in the evenings (check their calendar online for line up schedule and more info on the musicians). There is awesome artwork to check out while youre there; and theres dancing as well (Saturdays) as lots of seating areas and tables. Free Wifi too if youre the kind of person who wants to get some work down at this upscale music joint. There are no in and outs and the $18 cover charge includes a catered buffet.
