Cool piece of history right in downtown Waco, TX. Dr. Pepper was invented in Waco and the museum is a great place to visit and see the history of the company. With the admission price, you get your choice of a free soda with an optional small paid upgrade to make it a float. We had a great time seeing all the memorabilia.
An amazing experience! I wouldnt drive to Waco specifically for this experience, but we were headed from Dallas to Houston so the museum here was definitely worth the stop. We were able to learn many cool facts about many sodas and this history of America, as also got to make our very own soda! Great for the whole family!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Dr. Pepper Museum - as life-long Texans, we have driven through Waco so many times, and have always said, someday. We learned a lot about the history of not only the Dr. Pepper brand, but other brands as well - the museum is thoughtfully laid out, roomy, clean, and there were three entire stories of displays to work through. We only spent a couple of hours, but you could easily spend more if you enjoy reading and watching the videos. The gift shop was a bit of a disappointment after touring the museum. We were expecting more memorabilia to be available, but other than tees, magnets, and a few other items, there wasnt much to hold our interest. We will definitely be back with other members of our family when they visit us in Texas, though!
Interesting facts, old promos and advertising featuring Dr. Pepper and other sodas. Free fountain drink with admission and Blue Bell ice cream available for a float. Nice gift shop with lots of t-shirts, including hard to find larger sizes. Worth the stop!
Had a good time with my son. Lots of good info to read. The soda making experiment was the best. We loved choosing our own flavors and then being able to label and take them home with us. A little disappointed that we couldnt put a certificate in a Dr. Pepper Bottle and cap it like I did when I visited about 25 years ago. But still had a good time.
We had a great time going through the exhibits. The gift shop was pretty cool too. We were able to get a free refreshment and add a couple of extra flavors at the end of the tour. If you plan ahead, you can reserve a time to make your own soda or go into a the liquid lab. Unfortunately we missed that part, but it seemed like a great experience.
The birthplace of Dr Pepper. Great museum to go thru. They even let you make your own soda pop here. Everything costs so be aware. They only get funding from the public.
This is a fun add-on to a Waco tour! It is right around the corner from the silos, so if you are already planning a visit, might as well stop! There are some really funny advertisements from decades past, and the gift shop is filled with Texas goodies as well as Dr Pepper memorabilia. There is a military discount as well!
Definitely experience make your own soda. Experiment with different flavours. Lots to see and learn, gives you a great understanding of the soda processing back then. Dont forget to try out the dr pepper float.
What is there to say if you’re in the Waco area downtown this is the place you need to be Dr. Pepper Museum and nonprofit Berry interesting place to go for the Dr Pepper history highly recommended our children had a very good time I will be back the next time I get in downtown Waco
Very interesting and awesome museum. Very informative.Loved the tour demos they would do to see if you know a lot about Dr. Pepper.I learned that Dr. Pepper was actually started in Waco, TX.Loved the commercials they would play of when Dr. Pepper started showing them on TV. I remembered most of them! Now Im showing my age a bit.The staff was very helpful and understanding with our group being visually impaired/blind.Awesome and interesting place to visit for a Sunday!
Cool place. Well laid out. Lots of reading so probably not real fun for kids
It was great, lots of interesting facts and artifacts from the original factory. We stayed for the liquid lab and the presenter was quite funny. The floats were amazing as was the candy from the gift shop. Would recommend taking slightly older kids (7+) as the facts require a bit of reading.
Great museum with lots of history. If you are into paranormal they also have paranormal tours.
More interesting than I imagined and we stayed longer than I thought we would. This is a great taste of Americana and you get a Dr Pepper to taste at the end as well.
This was pretty interesting. 3 floors with lots of information about Dr. Pepper and how pop was invented and adapted through the ages. The Liquid Lab Show in the second building is really fun and interesting, highly recommend catching that show!
Very informative about the history of soda in general but also a very fun place. The original well and building were very interesting. With admission you can get a free Dr.Pepper or a $1 off a Dr.Pepper float however at the time the line was too long and moved too slow so we didnt bother. The gift shop had some cool Dr.Pepper themed items and we opted for a Magnet and some Official Dr.Pepper restaurant cups, they come in various sizes and are very affordable
We popped in, and made our own soda! Its hard to pass up the chance to do so, @ only $10 per bottle. Museum admission was an additional $6 per person, but you cant beat that, for 3 levels of stuff to see.
My husband, 2 year old, and I loved this museum! We didn’t even realize that we spent 2.5 almost 3 hours here because of how much fun it was. It’s very well kept, clean, and informative. If you love Dr Pepper, you’ll love this place. 10/10 would recommend.
Saw this place in the waco travel guide in our hotel! Love Dr Pepper and it was very cool to see all the different variations of the drink and how it was made. Staff was nice and helpful! Would recommend for anyone stopping in waco!
Loved the history! Very interesting, informative & motivating! Cute
I really enjoyed it and the float at the end was top notch. I wish the museum was organized better. For example, arrows telling the order to view each exhibit or which rooms to view in what order. Overall its worth checking out.
It was very interesting! I wish I had more time to examine each exhibit thoroughly.
Museum is well done. However, it is not really designed for younger kids, especially now that all the interactive displays have been disabled because of Covid19. I would suggest maybe 10 or 11 yrs old and up.Also, at the time we went, they required masks for anyone 2 yrs and older even though city ordinance only requires it for 10+. My 5/6 yr old kids were constantly touching their face adjusting it so hopefully the museum did a good job cleaning.I probably would have skipped that stop of our trip if we had known the mask requirements ahead of time, particularly paired with the knowledge there wouldnt be anything appropriate to their age group.Dad had a great time though, so the kids got a lesson in patience and dad nostalgia out of the deal. I enjoyed listening to him try to explain to them what life was like 30something years ago to kids who think soda is gross and regular TV with commercials is antiquated. Very amusing, so not a total bummer.
If youre at risk or following stricter Covid precautions I’d recommend coming at a non peak time or waiting until next year. We went on a Sunday around 1pm. No distance markers at reception, no hand sanitizer. We asked the employee if they were working at limited capacity for Covid. He said that he knew they hadn’t reached capacity but didn’t know what that was based on (50% 75% or 100%). When we actually reached the entry to the museum we realized there was no social distancing in place. The staff was great about processing a refund so I’m impressed and appreciative with their understanding. Just a heads up if this is a concern of yours!
Really nice place to visit. A little bit of history even if you dont like the drink..Im a coca cola person but so nice to see how it all began. Family friendly
Super fun experience. A bit smaller than anticipated, but a great stop in Waco - especially if you are a Dr. Pepper fan. They have a great gift shop, fun place for any fan of the soda if you’re passing through!
For me, this place was the best museum I’ve ever been to. Larger than I thought. Very clean! Every restroom was perfectly cleaned and there are sanitizer stations on every floor! They did forgot about our order when we went for the complimentary drink and some ice cream but other than that it was a wonderful place to take get out of the house but remain socially distant! Definitely coming back!
I am a big fan of Dr Pepper and this museum did not let us down. It was full of fun and interesting facts and second of all it had very good original Dr Pepper to taste. It’s in our old three-story historic building with lots of character! Me and the family had a blast and it was a great addition to our trip to Waco Texas. It made the trip even that much funner knowing that it’s the place where Dr Pepper originated!
I really didnt want to come but my family dragged me along. I was very impressed by their history but most of all, I remember the recorded interviews with some of the greatest captains of industry who talked about their appreciation for Mr. Foots, upon whose shoulders this soft drink company found success. I enjoyed the museum better than the kids! I should have assessed them a higher rating.
It was interesting at first, but then each room just repeated it self. Lots of reading. Dont think this would be great for kids. It was somewhat interesting, but I wouldnt go back...
Very interesting museum. Kids loved making their own soda!
A lot has changed at Wacos Dr Pepper Museum! Expanded area and everything was accessible. Was surprised that, according to the ticket counter, Dr Pepper does not provide any funding support...Post Script: owner confirmed that KDP makes a contribution in the form of contribution matching
I thought this place would be boring, but I liked it! Very clean with cool exhibits. I liked the well best. The soda shoppe is great, I enjoyed my Dr Pepper float.
Really good museum. My family really enjoyed the history. My son particularly enjoyed seeing things from mine and my wifes childhood. He also really enjoyed the botteling equipment.
Ive been coming here since I was little! They have added a lot new stuff!! My daughter and I had a blast!! Definitely recommend for family outing!
Nice place to stop and learn about Dr. Pepper and some of the drinks that didnt make it. You receive a free small drink or dollar off a float included with the museum price. You can also stop in for drinks or Blue Bell ice cream as a nice break from the heat when walking around downtown. Its close to the Silos, Farmers market and other shops so it makes for a good stop when visiting Waco.
Great museum! Very interesting!
I went on a Sunday and I really enjoyed this museum, however, when it came time to go get something from the soda shop there was absolutely NO social distancing happening. No indicators on the floor or staff to help reduce the crowding. I do love that masks were mandatory but saw several people with theirs masks on improperly. We ended up leaving because there was way too many people in one spot at once. I appreciate the efforts but if you’re very concerned about the risk of illness I would save this for a weekday.
This is a walk through time to my childhood and beyond. So interesting to see how soft drinks have evolved through the years. Definitely worth a trip here. Great gift shop and soda fountain.
A lot of cool history here. Im sure if they had actual tour guides youd get a lot more out of it than self-guided tours. I appreciate the history even if I dont like DrP myself.
Two stars is generous. Weve been to the old Dublin Dr. Pepper museum that blows the Waco one away. Honestly, just a bunch of other products and old bottles. Nothing about how they got the flavor, grew, changed. Disappointing for $10 pp.
This museum is worth a visit! Lots of interesting facts about Dr. Pepper and the soda industry in general. The Dr. Pepper float is quite tasty!
Tons of awesome things to learn here. Didnt expect to find so very much to see. Three floors in the first building, and an entire showroom and vault in the second. The Liquid Lab was a blast to learn about creating your own sodas. Wish we could have tried the Make-Your-Own-Soda workshop. The sundae station is ammmaaazzzingggg.
Very informational. We learnt a lot about the history of soda in general and Dr Pepper. A lot of reading :)
Awesome experience! Kid loved it!
Youve GOT to go to the Dr Pepper museum if you come to Waco. It was invented HERE! They used to call Dr Pepper a Waco. I wish that it still had that name. Over the years, theyve added on an addition thats really great. Its interactive and fun. For group events, theyll let you make your own soda with all types of flavoring. So fun. Youve got to come to the Dr Pepper museum if you come to Waco. Its right down the street from Magnolia.
Fun day, much more informative and detailed than we expected. Make sure you visit the soda-jerk for your free Dr. Pepper before you leave
This place is such a gem! My son loved the soda making station, and the bottle machine was so great to see in action! Best ice cream soda I think I have ever had!
They have all kinds of interesting stuff about Dr Pepper, and there is also all kinds of information about other soft drinks and the soft drink business, in general. They also have an amazing collection of bottles, delivery trucks, and bottling equipment and machinery. We also did their “make a soda“ for $10 a person and had lots of fun with that, too.
It super sweet when you see lil sweet
Had a really fun morning visiting the museum! As an educator I found a lot of great resources here for future lessons! (I also thoroughly enjoyed the room of failed sodas!) Thanks, Dr. Pepper Museum!
So intriguing. Great demonstrations for kids - be sure to check the schedule for them. You can also make your own soda but you have to make a reservation. Totally worth it! You also get a free fountain drink with your admission ticket!
We enjoyed. Museum was very good and learned many interesting things worth visiting while in Waco.
Cute place. Very updated. Did this w Zoo & Texas Rangers museum. Had cute Waco tour
Very interesting history of multiple things. Great working display of bottling process. Lots and lots of interesting trivia.
Really cool place to visit if you are into memorabilia and pop culture. It was fun to watch and remember all the old soda commercials from my youth. At the end you get to try a soda that they make for you on the spot. If in Waco and you have a couple of hours to spend, I highly recommend the visit.
Neat experience. We got to make our own soda. 3 stories of history.
This is the best attraction in Waco, but don’t tell Chip & Jo I said that! My wife and I visited this museum while in Waco two months ago. And yes, we also visited Magnolia and Homestead Heritage. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a lot of good history and info on not only Dr. Pepper but also soft drinks in general. Plus you get a free Dr. Pepper at the end of your tour. This museum ranks 2nd. only to the whaling museum on Nantucket in my opinion.
Best museum Ive ever been too, also the gift shop had dr.pepper cups for $3... now thats what I call History
This museum is a trip down soda history from its beginning of snake oil claims to fantastical flavors. It contains items and information from its inception to current innovations. You will have fond memories of sodas from days gone by. It is a lot of reading and looking with a science class and a soda shop in the middle. Check it out if you are in the area and grab a Dr. Pepper.
Little interesting and a fun museum. Kids would probably find it more fun. It’s worth the time of checking out if someone has the time.
Interesting history! Great exhibit for the money. A free Dr. Pepper is included, I recommend you upgrade it to a DP float!
It is always interesting to learn about how everyday items we take for granted came to be. Someones passion and dedication created and we benefitted from it. A great place to learn about American innovation
Worth checking out! The soda fountain area is pretty nifty.
We really enjoyed our visit! We had a large group of 6 adults and 6 kids ranging from 6 months to 13 years old. Im not a big fan of museums, but this was full of lots of interesting displays and information that kept my attention. At the end we enjoyed our free drinks and some ice cream. I HIGHLY recommend the Dr. Pepper milkshake! The Dr. Pepper syrup is delicious.
Have visited the Coca Cola museum in Atlanta, and while I am a huge Coke fan, I have to say I really appreciated the Dr. Pepper museum for all of the historical nostalgia and educational information! Beautiful displays from the beginning through modern day and lots of history on the original Dr. Pepper science lab and bottling plant. Really had a great time here!
This place has Squirt soda and Mountain Dew lots of old bottles from the past. Old time drug store with a talking robotic Dr. that invented Doctor Pepper. This robotic looks just like the good Doctor.
Photos, exhibits and a presentation exploring the origins of soda water. Crazy water was thought to have healing properties. Exhibits show its beginning in pharmacies to bottling plants producing flavored soda for distribution.
The Dr. Pepper museum was definitely worth a visit, especially if your a fan of the drink. It doesnt seem to attract the number of visitors as the Coca Cola tour in Atlanta does, but may be more historic as the building you start the tour in was the original building where the flavor was invented and first sold.It was interesting to learn that the unique flavor was originally called a Waco by locals before it was mass produced and branded. At the end of the tour you get free sample of any of the Dr. Pepper family of sodas. Its a great stop if youre in the area. Its reminiscent of the Coca Cola museum but on a smaller scale. We spent about 45 minutes seeing everything.
Interesting tour, a fascinating look back through soda history. Seeing some of the drinks from my childhood was a lot of fun, brought back lots of memories.
Love the history! You can view Chip and Joanna Gains Magnolia shops @ the Silos from the front steps of the museum.
This was a really neat stop. I learned a lot about Waco, Dr Pepper and soda in general. I’ve always been a huge Dr Pepper fan so I’m glad to say that I’ve been here, where it all started.
A fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Quite educational on not just plant, but Waco as a city. Ive included a picture of the original well the facility was built around. Im a fan of Dr. Pepper and particularly enjoyed a fresh jerked soda at the end of the museum. I also enjoyed all the various failed attempts at various flavors that didnt quite make it. Im old enough to remember most of them. If youre in Waco and have an afternoon available, Id recommend the museum.
Way more information about the soda industry than I ever thought possible. If you actually view and read everything will take a few hours to take it all in. Really cool history about the deadly Waco tornado and also about the actual preserved water source (artesian well). Also neat history about Chairman of the Board Woodrow Wilson Foots Clements who worked his way all the way from salesman.
Surprisingly fun. Great walk through if you love Dr. Pepper. We had fun looking at everything. Takes a couple of hours but well worth it.
Top floor has a display of failed sodas! Hubba bubba, life savers, orbitz, and 7 up upside down!
Cool place to see and learn the history of soda and branding. Worth seeing for sure. I would like to have seen more interactive exhibits but still a fun place. The free soda takes a long time to get. Gift shop was a little disappointing. Needs more swag. Uncola glasses would be cool.
My hubby loved it here
It was nice to read and learn here but if you want a safer environment to have fun in don’t come here. They’re were too many non-maskers!
Cute little factory showing the history of Dr Pepper. Not much to do but it was cool.
I went to this museum about 15 years ago....the bigger one is great....way better than the museum in the old days. My kids loved it.Great stop on way from Houston to Dallas. The cookies & cream ice cream float with Dr. Pepper sounds unusual but it’s great!!!
If your in Waco, Tx. Also stop by this historical place. The Museum is great. You learn about how Dr. Pepper came to be the company it is today. They also have an Old Skool Fountian/Soda shop where you cam get Traditional tasting fountain sodas.
Good way to spend an hour or so, who knew there was so much soda history.
Very interesting history of soda pop and Dr. Pepper in particular. Plus you get a free handmade soda with your ticket
VERY INTERESTING!!! Lots of knowledge gained! GIVE ME A WACO!!
Great museum, 3 stories high. Very fascinating (Im 30 and found it a great museum)!
Very fun and informative. So much history surrounding the creation of Dr. Pepper and its founders. Great place for kids. Ive passed through Waco several times and finally made it here. Watching how they create the soda was fun. And, the best part was getting a free soda at the end. You definitely need to go!
Great experience. Well worth price of entry. Interesting history, pop culture, and more. If you do one thing in Waco, this should be it.
Friendly museum with quality displays and facts. Grab yourself a waco and enjoy the history.
I enjoyed learning about the history of Dr. Pepper and other soft drinks. Interesting to see some of the successes and failures in that industry.
So much fun! Check out Groupon for discounts or sales. Overall my family and I had a blast. They are very informative and have some fascinating exhibits. Plus Dr. Pepper is awesome! The museum is self directed but they have audio and visual exhibits. There is also an elevator which was perfect for our family. Overall I would recommend visiting if you have the time and are looking for something to do.
Interesting history of this beverage and similar products.
Fun and interesting place. Offers a free Dr. Pepper when you pay for admission.
Eh. It’s nothing special. I would not go out of my way to stop in unless you were already in the area. Admittedly I did not opt to pay the entry to go into the museum but rather stopped to grab a Dr Pepper Float.
We spent some time in Burleson and when we heard about this museum, we HAD to go. My wife and I come from long lines of Dr. Pepper drinkers. This place was absolutely amazing. This place was chalked full of cool stuff regarding soda history and prohibition. They even make the original Dr.Pepper drink right in front of you in the gift shop. Overall a fantastic place to kill a few hours if youre in the Waco area.
It is a nice little self guided tour especially for Dr. Pepper fans. Dr.. Pepper was invented here in Waco and it was called WACO! Neat huh? It is also a block from the Silos to Johanna and Chips place.
If you have not had an opportunity to visit this musuem you need to go! I took my 7 and 5 year old and we had a blast. They have a lot of interactive things for the kids to play with. The museum is well laid out and has lots of fun facts about Dr. Pepper history. They had a cool presentation for the kids about soda and carbonation. The kids got to try fruit that was carbonated and they really enjoyed the experience. The best part was with the purchase of your ticket you get a small drink. We chose a Dr. Pepper but you could have chosen any of the option at the soda fountain. Definitely a fun place for the entire family to go.
Interesting. A good collection, but could be a bit more interactive. I would have liked to see how sodas are made in the factory or something like that. And $10 for no more than a can of soda is way too much btw.
Not a soda drinker but to visit and learn the history of Dr. Pepper was a great experience. I would highly recommend visiting!
