Giving 1 star because the layout is great. This course is so bad right now that I broke my 5 iron in the middle of the fairway.I live 0.7 miles from this course and I’m a member at a course 48 miles away and I play an avg of 3 rounds a week.I won’t return to this course until new ownership and I see the efforts to renovate

The course is in a terrible state. The fairways are so hard they play like cart paths. Its basically playing from hard dirt. The greens are a joke. The driving range is hitting old balls they found lying around into an unmarked field. I wont return unless something seriously changes. The photo I posted is easily the nicest hole on the course. My playing partner was delighted to not be hitting off of dirt here, despite the grass having the consistency of hay.

We had a great time. $20 for 18 hole Par 3 w cart. Careful of the 10, 11, 12 corner, you can get off track easily.Quiet, clean, well maintained. Can ask for much else!

Had a good time, but the course is in bad shape. Take a free drop out of sand and be ready to add a stroke on each green. Wanted to become a member but wont be joining while it is in disrepair, disappointing since it has a great location for me.

Being from the deserts of West Texas I can say I have played at some very poor courses. With that being said, Lake Waco golf course is in the worst shape of probably any course I have ever been to. Zero pride at all. Greens might as well be a sand trap. Sand traps dont look like they have been raked this season. Also full of weeds in sand trap. No placard or anything designating what hole you are on. I played this course a few years ago and it was a nice course. It is a shame the condition this course is in. Last time I will be playing here unless there is some serious action taken. Just sell the damn course if you are not going to care to tend to it.

3 stars just because I was finally out playing golf. The course is in horrible shape. Greens are mostly bare meaning that theyll be mostly weeds come spring, or dirt. I know its Texas but you have to take care of the greens. Restaurant appears permanently closed. BYOB. Management turned this into a dinker course. Go dink some balls and slam beers. Its a good time.

No grass in fairways or on the greens. Lots of weeds in greens, lots of dead grass and lots of sand where grass once grew. Like putting in a goat pasture! Sand traps are mud, clay and weeds. T-boxes are rough, dead and few had signage. You could just as easily have played a round in any cow pasture with the same results. The cart paths have washed out, trees are dying and the course is in the worst shape I have ever seen it! Shame on Bob Richards for destroying a once great golf course! I understand that Twin Rivers is in even worse shape.

Worst golf course in texas. Owner and manager are mean. The whole place has been trashed. Younger guy in proshop is awesome and a great worker. Greens are brown. Prices are way too high. The whole place is just not taken care of! Need to do something with it!

Play today and as we havent had much rain in the last 3 months doesnt look like they have watered tea boxes or greens for that length of time. Absolutely abysmal conditions. Very unfortunate that they let the golf course go, because it is a great layout and very unique course. That will be the last time I play there. I recommend everyone else spend a little extra and go to a different course here in town.

Updating my review from 3 stars to 0. The owner of this course has driven it into the ground. It is sad to see a once good course turned into a weed be gone before pic.

Not a great looking course but still fun to play. Whomever owns the place or manages it really needs to look at the budget for chemicals and get to work. Lots of work to do. But a budget only allows what it is. For someone who doesnt mind tight fairways and junky green and rough. Its perfect, Im only judging only because I run a golf course in Dallas. Other than that, you will have fun. Negative but positive thoughts.

Nice place to play Fairways are actually okay but the greens arent quite up to par but still go back and play the course love the course nice time to play golf even after Lake Waco flooded they seem to have gotten back on top of their greens a little bit better Fairways in a little bit better condition and now we just need some more rain to make the fairways a little bit better nice course to play

Not the best kept course in Waco, but you get what you pay for. The par three course can be played pretty quick, and is good for improving your short game. It is pretty great if youre looking for a cheap afternoon.

The pro shop staff is good. Course maintenance is abysmal. Tee boxes hard and trashy, fairways mowed sometimes but just mowed no water applied ever. Greens are hard and patchy with weeds throughout. If you don’t mind adding about four to five strokes to your game because of course condition then play it. Not a great course for the price. Par three is better than the main course.

Great value for students. Course was in pretty good shape. The par 3 course for 6 bucks is great for a casual golf player. The tea boxes and signage could use work.

Unfortunately this once beautiful golf course has been neglected the last year. The fairways are dying from lack of water and not being taken care of. They have closed the Legends restaurant so there is no food to be had or beer for the 19th hole. The only good thing is since they do not have a liquor license you can bring your own beer.

The course is in decent shape for the money you pay. However the pace of play is ridiculously slow. It seems no one here understands what golf equitie is. There is no Marshall and it doesnt seem to make a difference if you call the club house. This course is fun though. If the pace of play was better the rating would have been better.

I was in town for business and wanted to play 18 so I checked the reviews and it had 4 stars. In Phoenix, a 4 star course is pretty nice so I was expecting something half-way decent. Unfortunately, I was disappointed... maybe because its winter golf in Texas???On the other hand, the staff gets 7 out of 5 stars. They can have the two I didnt give the overall review. Since I didnt have clubs with me they allowed me to borrow a set. These werent the nicest clubs but I wasnt out to win the Masters (nor will I ever) so I didnt mind the set. When I got lost between holes, (because the holes are poorly marked) one of the staff came out and gave me a ride in the cart to the proper hole (I know... this makes me look like an idiot. Sometimes I am...). The course conditions were POOR (and thats being generous). One of the bunkers was just mud... it didnt even have sand in it. Pace of play was great. Walked all 18 in just under 3 hours. After my round the bar guy cooked me some food and let me hang out for a bit before leaving (even though I was the only one there). I would go back if course conditions improved...

The golf course has been under new management for the second year and the greens and fairways have improved to a level unseen in years. More work need be done on the sand traps and dead live oaks. Currently the very best buy in town for an enjoyable golf course that should be played in no more the 3-4 hours max verses 5-6 hours at the other courses in town. Play it forward !!!!

Lake Waco is the best golf for the money in Waco. It is decently maintained, yet not emaculate. Its a $30 course that you will only have to pay around $10 to play. I think that it is a more interesting course layout than Cottonwood (really well maintained nice course as well) with better views/scenery as it is directly on Lake Waco. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Review №35

This course is in terrible shape! Greens and fairways are dry and full of weeds. Most of the time you are hitting off dirt or a weed. If you want to hit 300 plus yard drives consistantly play here as the ball will run forever. Bunkers need to be raked but this never seems to get done. This could be a fun course to play if it was managed and taken care of. Management, please start taking care of this course so we can have some nice courses in the Waco area.

️BAD BUISNESS️They lost not only a great worker but many business tournament that will no longer be held there. =$$$$ lost for the BAD buisness...If I could give a -100 I would...My friend (Very hard working & smart)First off she hired, trained, lost out on tip money that was stolen from someone who is lets just say untouchable. They illegally fired her. Then said they lost her time tickets, but tried to blaim her. Then decided to not pay her the promised time 1/2. She had already worked hard for to make her bill. Open to close working 7:45 am to 2:00 am +.Get the management right or lose more $$!

Lake Waco Golf Clubs greens look better than they have in years, bunkers have new sand, and all around the course appears to be well maintained. Apparently, it is under new management and it shows! Courses and trials are very poorly maintained. Signs are either nonexistent or broken. You have no idea what the next hole. Most frustrating round of golf in my life. None of this is explained when you purchase, but if you choose to complain then they will tell you like you are stupid for not magically knowing it in the first place. I will not be returning.
