I really enjoy this museum. My kids have gone several times for preschool and elementary school and also on our own as a family. I have been through this museum countless times and I still feel like I learn something new every time. There is not just neat things to look at but It’s really cool to go outside and see the old buildings. It’s also free, so a must do item for everyone.

Mooneys Grove Park is not as good as when I was a child but is better than it has been in years past. The boats are a very nice family friendly activity and only cost $5 for a half hour in a row boat. Pretty cool! The museum is awesome as always. We love to bring a picnic to spend all day eating, walking, seeing the museum and just being a family! Thanks City of Visalia for trying to bring low key family fun that only cost $11 for the day. It was $6 for our car to enter the park and $5 for the row boat.

Lots of great displays. Well labeled. Out buildings dirty. No wheelchair accessibility to outside school and homes. Steps without handrails and not level.

So many things to see and do at the museum, plus the park looks great. On a side note, there have been people posting 1 star reviews with no comments, and its sad to see this type of low behavior for such a great place to visit.

Excellent museum in a beautiful park. Very well laid out with lots of interesting artefacts with accessible information. Very informative about the history of the area through the centuries. Expert staff who are very willing to answer any questions. Enthralling and not at all boring. A gem well worth a visit.

Beautiful museum, very well done. Cultural heritage is displayed in every room, as well as antique guns used in police work & military, tools used on the various farms throughout Tulare County. Homage is paid to the Korean population, and the farm workers of central California. Outside has the oldest house in Tulare County, as well as a house made of logs, plus much, much more. Definitely worth bringing the kids.

We had a couple of hours to spare and thought we would visit Mooney Grove Park. The park was ok but the museum is a real hidden gem.The Tulare County Museum in Mooney Grove Park in Visalia has a fantastic mixture of very interesting exhibits from the history of the local area. The museum has everything from Indian woven baskets, through agricultural machinery, toys, historical clothing, a stunning fire alarm central station indicator board, typewriters from the 1930s, equipment from a dentists surgery etc etc. There are even historical buildings which have been relocated to the museum grounds including a school house with a cabinet full of old classic literature books, an old log cabin, newspaper print office etc etc. There was no entrance fee for visiting this wonderful site and only donations are suggested. However, this place can obviously only be maintained and improved with more income so I suggest that everyone visits and makes a big donation to keep this fantastic historical resource open for future generations.Dont just drive past Visalia on your way to the local National Parks etc., instead visit this museum and spend a few hours enjoying a feast of history!

I loved coming here as a kid! Learning about our towns history is a tremendous thing all kids in our town should be learning about. Why not take them here when you get some free time to actually go out and enjoy the park! Monday is a great time to go cause the park doesnt charge you to come in and of course the museum is free although they ask if youd like to make a donation. Youd kinda seem like a d$k if you dont because the staff is sitting right there lol. But I know alot of people in this town could care less about being like that towards other people lol. The one thing my wife had a comment about was why their wasnt any upkeep on some of the items in and out of the museum. People wanna come and see old artifacts but just because theyre old dont mean they need to get that dirty. I loved just taking it all in and being able to see what this town was like back then. Will always come back to enjoy more history.
