Wonderful camps! Just perfect for kids!Especially this year, with all thats going on!A chance to be with other kids, but in a safe environment. The museum personnel, did a great job following pandemic guidelines but still making it fun for kids. Our community should be proud of The Childrens Discovery Museum!

Two grandsons, ages 9 & 10, had a wonderful experience at CDM camp last week. In spite of the inconvenience of wearing masks, etc. they enjoyed every minute! I appreciate the extra hand washing the staff required also. Doug and the rest of the staff are super attentive and good at what they do. We will definitely do it again next year.

This place is such an awesome spot to take the kids. We come here as often as we can because they have so much for the children to do here, and often have travelling/visiting exhibits. Everytime we come here, theres a different craft for the kids to do. They also do regular STEAM events, have different camps during Spring Break and Summer Break, and I think they have regular time slots for different activities for the smaller children, as well.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Childrens Discovery Museum (CDM) in Victoria and loved it. First a few things. You cant compared this place to any other museum because 1, they have not been around near as long, 2, I am sure they dont have the same budget as say the Perot in Dallas, and last they dont charge near as much as other places.7.50 a kid (at time of writing) is very reasonable and for what they bring to the community is an amazing gift. For being 2 years old, they are filling out the space nicely. There are two distinct sections, the play and learn and the STEM side. Both side have some very unique things for the kids to do but where this place excels is with the staff. What I found here was the staff did an amazing job of interacting with the kids that were there. They would sit down and play with some, help build thing with others and even help the kids discover rather than just providing answers. The only thing I was disappointed with was the one event that was going when we were there. At 2:00 they have a STEM event that is advertised and the one we participated in was making paper fans, I just felt that this was a bit of a let down.Besides that, this is a good place to visit and support and I hope that they can continue to grow and provide a much need service to the community.

A fun activity center with educational play. Grandchildren loved it. There is a huge lite brite station, a maze room that changes periodically, activities like fossil finding using large chunks of ice, large blocks, etc.

I am so glad we chose the childrens museum for the summer camps for my daughter this year. She has had so much fun and usually tends to be shy but has become very comfortable with the staff and other children. They had a huge turnout in her age group which was great. I will definitely be enrolling my kids in the summer camp next year.

Such a gem in Victoria! So thankful to have a place like this for children in our town... any time the weather is too hot or dreary to be outside, there’s no better place for our family to learn and play. The management, staff, and facilities are absolutely wonderful. Keep up the great work, CDM!

There are not much learning activities in the area so I was beyond excited to take my 11 month old son and niece and nephew who are in double digit ages to the museum. After being there for 30mins, a wooden figure (20+ pounds) that was only secured to wall by velcro fell on my 11 month old son head. The employee apologized and she was truly concerned.I understand that accidents happen but was put off by the director and codirector when they continued to argue with me about the incident. Their words we didnt know these were only secured by velcro parents get upset anytime their child gets hurt, even when its minor. He looks like a tough boy. Director said the props have been on show for three months and never knew they were velcroed on. There were kids pulling these figures off the wall and acting out plays and no one was told anything until my family started playing with props. The response about the staff not telling other visitors was they know the director so we cant tell them anything. It was at that moment when the employee placed the wooden figure approx 4feet tall back on velcro wall. As soon as employee turned around it fell on my son.I was quietly talking about the incident and allowing both director and codirector speak their justification. They made me feel unreasonable as a concerned parent with the current situation and when I voiced about the future. I told them it was negligent that as a facility they had no idea 20 lb. Figures were mounted with velcro. I wouldnt even put home wall decor up without a safety secured nail or screw. On their report they said I demanded a refund and refused an ambulance - a bit dramatic on their part saying I demanded a refund. I politely asked for a refund after I filled out an incident report. Im a seasoned ICU nurse from the Houston Medical Center and assessed my child, he will bruise and possibly a black eye.I guarantee if this was either of their children or grandchildren they would have been just as concerned and disturbed as I was or if not more. Like I said, I was pretty calm about the situation even though my son was screaming.I was assured that figures would be nailed to wall.

Looks like they are in the process of building something nice here. In the meantime, there is still lots of fun stuff for kids age 2-8 to keep them busy for a couple of hours. Definitely worth the price of admission as long as there is not a huge crowd. I particularly enjoyed the giant light bright.

This was our first year of camp. My 8 year old son L-O-V-E-D it!! He had a blast! He attended the astronomy camp, and loved the projects they did. The only thing he didnt like was that it had to end!! Safe to say, as long as there is a class for his age, well be back!! The staff was so nice! They were so welcoming every morning, greeting him by name. All in all, first camp experience was a success!!

I am so happy to have this museum in Victoria! My kids visited the space downtown when they were younger, and now they LOVE coming to the new location!! It is perfect for all ages. When adults play alongside the kids, the place really shines! And my kids have loved attending camps and field trips at CDM!! It is all about using your imagination, problem solving, and hands-on learning. I am thrilled about what this museum offers now and all that is yet to come!

Its a nice place to take your children for a few hours of discovery play. Has expected hands-on activities like gears station and force and motion diy roller coaster. Check it out on Free days and comeback for a real visit. It is still getting off the ground and expansions are coming. Hope they make good use of the space like Brownsville.

I thought it was terrible. We are from out of town and have seen way better. There was nothing really for my son to do. There was no one in there except the staff. Then the front desk lady hollered out the door on our way out that there was no smoking on premises. There was definitely no sign stating that. To pay $30 to even see what was going on in the building, was ridiculous. Will never go back here.

My son attended the Lego Robotics Camp and absolutely loved it! He came home every day excited to tell me about all of the fun he had and the new things he learned. His camp leader, Doug, was enthusiastic and energetic and my son really enjoyed getting to know him. Great experience overall! We look forward to coming again next year!

Great idea. Great exhibits. I give it a 1-star rating because it is SO poorly managed. They have an area designed for younger children, so we thought that would be perfect for my friends 10 month old. After 5 minutes it was clear it wasnt! The age range for that area was 0-4 years! Way too big of an age gap to make it safe for the younger side. Plus, no workers were around to even make sure the children in there were under 4.. So, there were lots of kids way too big. Things were dirty. The family bathroom was disgusting, I understand there are lots of potty training kids going there (My son included,) BUT all the more reason to have a worker going in there constantly to clean. There was a huge puddle of pee around the child sized toilet, and it reeked. Anything cloth (toys & dress-up clothes) looks dingy, felt like they had a film on them. Really needed to be washed. I saw children putting things in their mouths and then on the floor to be picked up by another, spreading germs. Other places like this Ive been to have a worker standing around so when something is put in someones mouth then put down it gets picked up and put aside to be washed. The Legos were sticky, like you could scrape gunk off with your nail. At the end of it all, the 10 month old (who was healthy when we arrived) began throwing up later at home.

Got bit there, very painful- something in fabric chair. Employees said they spray sanitizer- they need to do more obviously. Sent this photo hoping to get response from management. Nothing. We are members and I don’t want to go back. I want to support them and I want them to do well but I don’t advise going there currently.

Not fun unless your kid is older than 4. Any items for kids younger than that are boring, half working, and dirty. Not worth full admission for a 2 year old when there isnt anything geared toward that age. They claimed there was a tot corner for play....uunimpressive. No staff to help with anything or show kids what to do. No interaction besides when you pay for admission. No paper towels. They had arts and crafts out but half of the items, like hand stamp pads were dried out. Tot part in the space station was a felt piece half falling down that wouldnt allow any of the pieces to stick. Basical paid $15 for arts and crafts. Not worth the price of admission.

This place can be fun, its not super big or very sciency, but as an area for building and running, another part with a toddler area, a tech area, a panting area and last an area that changes. When we went it had a art/pilgrim exhibit. This place is also cheap to go to, but you do have to pay per person not per child.
