I loved this little casino when my sister and I visited. Of course, Im sure winning made it that much more enjoyable. My spouse and I are going to stay there and celebrate our wedding anniversary on March 6. Im really looking forward to it!

The hotel has so far not disappointed me at all. The casino however has made me not want to return after tonight. A security guard continued yelling at me after we had words about some NY law (supposedly) that I couldnt bring food through the gaming floor up to my room. I dont believe that and said that Turning Stone doesnt have this rule. I was walking outside to go across the parking lot, in pouring rain mind you, as he continued yelling at me out the doors. Another woman witnessing it stated he did the same to her earlier. My complaint to the security supervisor yielded nothing but excuses blaming NY as to him not having the staff to assist me with bringing my food through the gaming area (my suggestion), he said none of them can leave their post. It was also NYs fault they have the rule in place, and unfortunately there is nothing they could do. These staff members obviously dont have guest service skills at all, and its no wonder why the place is doing poorly. They couldnt even pretend to care about my inconvenience. My clothes were soaked since I didnt have my jacket and the wind blew my bag so harshly that the sauce spilled all over the contents inside. Still no apology at all. He said he would speak to the employee, but I doubt that will happen given his own lack of compassion or empathy with my situation.I am extremely disgusted at how the security supervisor responded to this. I pointed out that besides the hotel room, I have dropped money on food and in the machines, I was a guest and his employee should never speak to a guest like that. I doubt either of them even cares if the place shuts down, as I have no doubt they will when treating guests like this, they most likely figure theyll get unemployment anyway.I recommend you spend your money at Turning Stone. The new safety standards are excellent. Every other machines are closed, so you dont have to sit near anyone. Also air filtration systems throughout. Felt safe.

The hotel was amazing and customer service so nice! Restaurant service was terrible. At 15min without anyone approaching us and. Never got coffee. They were not even busy!! We walked out.

I was disappointed in how dirty the whole place was. The bathroom had dust balls and the mirror had toothpaste spray. The ice container was speckled with dirt. The room was not clean and I do not believe they vacuumed the carpet. The room was dark and needed more light. In the bathroom 2 lights were out and in the main area there were just 2 lamps with low bulbs. We were lead to believe that there would be a full breakfast, but it was a Carb filled Continental Breakfast with limited choices and none of the items listed on the advertised sign were available. The breakfast room was not clean, tables were not wiped after guest.Over all this place is simply not very clean. I would never go back. The staff was very friendly and when we asked for an ironing board, it was brought to us almost immediately. Great service in a very sad and dirty location.

The machines pay so bad. You never win. I started only going once a year because they are so bad. The room had crunchy dirty smelly socks under pull out couch. Last time I only came because someone gave me a free room and wouldn’t you know couldn’t win a thing when I tried. Yep I’m set for life. I know it’s called gambling but this is just sad. At lease I can win something or have a chance at turning stone

Strange place. The hotel is nice - its clean and reasonable, but the casino is very different from what yours find in Vegas or Europe. For some that might seem typical but Ive never been to a similar place.

After a 4 hour trip in a blizzard, we get to the hotel late around 9, the poor girl behind the counter I do feel for, knowing it wasnt her fault, the room was clean however being one of their newly renovated rooms, while the decor and stuff was more up-to-date more at home farm house kind of feel, which I love, it just seemed a lot of the other stuff could have been upgraded as well, like Appliance wise, and some other issues with missed spots in the room, the beds in seem too comfortable, if a person was broke their back like I have it does not make for a good evening, nothing against the staff cuz they are all extremely excellent, for the price of the room, personally I would feel that they would and more comfortable beds, I have stayed at lesser places and have more comfortable beds I probably will not return for a stay in the hotel

Hotel is aged and it shows, I heard 2nd floor was remodeled and was nice but I was on 3rd floor. Waited 40 minutes for my food at Mr G the hotel restaurant and then the french fries were not cooked fully. The casino has only slots and only a few poker slots they dont even have virtual table games. The race track was fun to go to but check the start time, its 6:10 on Fridays, we were not aware and were eating dinner while races went on. Free continental breakfast on weekdays but $9.95 buffet breakfast on weekends, even though you pay more for a room on weekends, you get less

Weve been coming for 10 years & come here often. Hotel very comfy! Their buffet leaves a lot to be desired but the breakfast at 777 is good!

You get what you pay for at there buffet. Lunch buffet was very limited. Clearly has been cut back. Register staff was friendly. Food could pass for outsourced hospital food. It was $8, which is a bargain, but dont expect grandmas recipes. Cooking staff could make dirt cheap meals better if they add spices, and vegetables.Gambling odds are good. The slots are looser then I expected for the location. Clean establishment. Spotless play floor. I dont believe they had smoking in there and if they did it had great ventilation.

I like because it is quiet not big crowds and no smoking. Nice place to go when I want to gamble a bit. During the warmer weather I also to go to the horse track and watch the races.

Found a bed bug in our room. Went down to the front desk and asked for a refund so we could drive home instead of staying. The lady at the front desk proceeded to call her manager Jennifer. While in the phone the lady said “they probably brought the bug in with them, they are from Canada”. Not only was that rude it was uncalled for. I will never ever step foot in this hotel/casino again. I will be sure to post about my experience all over.

Our room was not bad but just oddly located on the 2nd floor amongst the hotel offices and near the gym. I realize square footage equals revenue but consolidate the offices to one end. And certainly do not go there with the thought of having a good meal. Lastly, we had put our towels in the tub to get fresh ones. Housekeeping came through and did not replace them. When we called the front desk they said housekeeping was not done yet and our towels were being washed. In the mean time we were short towels to get ready for the wedding we were attending.

We have stayed there many times and love it there. If we have had an issue, they were always there to correct it in great timing.

I have stayed her 4 times now. Check in is very quick and front desk staff is friendly. Room was very clean. The $10 breakfast buffet has all you could want and was very good. We had dinner, fish fry, at the restaurant which was great, but we waited almost 45 min for it after sitting down. The shower is awful. Hardly any water pressure. They are remodeling which will be great. I started bringing my own bath towels because theirs are like sandpaper.

Very nice place if you want to get away for a little while. To bad they are cheap on there winnings and on there free plays. They cant match up to turning stone when it comes to free plays

Receptionist very rude, she didn’t look in to my eyes. But did her job. Maybe she was in bad mood, the cassino is very calm, no smoking . I love to play $0.01 machine. I have many options there. No expect to much in the breakfast. No eggs, no bacon, only coffee and bread .

Property was clean, nice facilities, pool and hot tub. Unique setting with the horse track, enjoyed watching the horses warm up while outside having breakfast. The check-in experience was awful, I stood at the desk for 10 minutes while the one agent was on phone call after phone call and didnt acknowledge my presence until she was done on the phone.

I love the live bands on Friday nights! The food is great, and the atmosphere is the best around! Come dancing on Friday and Saturday nights - you will not be disappointed!!

Took my sig other for an overnight there in a jacuzzi suite. Upon arrival, was not greeted by desk personnel. As I stood there to check in at 3pm, was told by one of them its going to be a few minutes. No hello, no welcome. Ugh. Room was clean and jacuzzi worked well. We ate at the buffet for dinner. Another disenchanted employee-the hostess. Unsmiling and seeming bothered by customers. Food was what I call sad cuisine. People in charge of preparation looked overworked and harried. Not a good experience overall. Ill give it 2 solely for the room being decent.

Unfortunately this hotel is undergoing renovation. Good for them. But if you put a guest in a torn up, holey room and hallway the price of the room should be adjusted. Peeling floors and dirty carpet. Ugh. I’m sure it will be lovely when done.

The advertisement when checking in was free breakfast buffet but when we went the next day for breakfast there was a charge of $21.00 for the buffet. When asked the lady at the check counter to ask what the deal was she stated that the breakfast buffet was only good during the week and then turned away and said we just started this. I said I have never heard of a hotel offering a free breakfast buffet and then charging. I have learned my lesson I will never book a room there again and I will be telling all of my friends and family members to do the same.

We were given a newly redone room, top floor at end of hallway ad requested. Room was very nicely done and quietThe breakfast was good,with a ni e variety. We will stay again for sure

The local loyal customers are not treated as well as they should be as far as perks are concerned. Myself and my next door neighbor have been going at least once a week for 9 years. Neither one of us have ever won a jackpot. The machines RNG seems to be set at a low percentage, ( for those who know what that means) The workers there are beyond wonderful though. They are always friendly,polite and helpful. They are a bright spot. It used to be my favorite place to be. I only hope that it gets better machine wise.

Nice track and fun casino. Its small but you get more bang for your buck. Machines range from older to ultra modern and are lots of fun. Good times to win slots are mid afternoon and late nights. Hotel is A+.

Ice machine broken, outdoor smoke area heaters not working, no safe in room, restaurant not open until 5 and when are there they only gave 2 dinner rolls while we waited for meal. Tvs in rooms are old and outdated with limited channels, game room not open all night, I could go on and on. This was like the ghetto of casino hotels and I would not recommend staying here to anyone.

Dirty rooms. Smelly as well. Found black colored mold all over the shower curtains. Extremely dated interior. Poor service and unfriendly staff. Walls and doors are so thin they might as well not even be there with the fact that you can hear conversations clearly through them. Only plus was that the beds were actually clean and comfortable.

Vacuum not pass, earring found on the floor, bed not comfortable...shower curtain really rough looking would not put it in a cabin in the woods. Really need to update!

Hotel was very nice, great beds, lots of pillows, and plenty of fresh clean towel. Pool was the perfect temperature and the hot tub was absolutely amazing. Casino was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Quiet place to play slots, fun spot to watch the races!

It is nice and quiet the casino is just slots but there are harness racing on the weekends and it is close to turning stone casino. It is a nice choice if you like being able to see racing live and be able to gamble at turning stone.

Run down. Slots are old. Payouts from machines are terrible. I understand casinos are in the business of making money but when you spend a lot of money and get not one bonus it’s pretty sad. I’d advise going to the turning stone and that place isn’t much better slot selection. Vernon downs is where slots go to die.

My wife and I had our wedding at Vernon downs. From the start we were very happy with all of the staff as they were very accommodating and very generous.On the day of our wedding we found out that the wedding coordinator was not able to make it and my wife was told that it was because his father was in the hospital and not doing well. My wife cried her eyes out in sympathy for everything he was going through. We then had a new person thrown into the mix that was terrible to work with. Upon check out our bill had an additional $1,000 in charges and the front desk could not tell me where they came from, but expected me to pay.I called later to go pick up our wedding cake as we specifically pulled the replacement coordinator aside and asked that the remaining cake be set aside so we could wrap it for our 1 year anniversary. After a couple days I finally got a call back that they couldn’t find the cake but would follow up with the coordinator to figure out what happened. It has been almost 2 months and still haven’t received the replacement wedding cake that we were promised.To make matters worse we now just found out that our wedding coordinator was not at the hospital with his “dying father”, he was actually in jail for a disgusting crime, because he was arrested the morning of our wedding.We went from being very satisfied to being extremely disappointed and would never recommend Vernon Downs due to the lying, throwing out the wedding cake and the billing issues and the front desks lack of ability to solve the issue.

I rarely gamble but enjoy going for the buffet

We were there for a wedding. The wedding was beautiful but the hotel stay was not! The staff was rude and the room was dirty. I would never stay there again!

Was not happy at all. The honeymoon sweet was not worth $200. My boyfriend and I got a smoking charge even though neither of us smoke and we told the hotel that there was a burn mark on the tub when we got there. The smoking charge was another $200. So all together $400 for a night in a 3star room. And didn’t even gamble there we ended up going to turning stone for their games.

SMOKE FREE FACILITY!!!! We love staying here, staff has always been nice and professional. Rooms are alittle dated but the hotel is in the process of upgrade rooms floor by floor. Cant tell its under construction which is very nice. Highly recommend the Triple Seven food is outstanding. Mr. Gs restaurant has fine dinning. Bar staff serves outstanding drinks and has many TVs for all sporting events. Track provides family style horse racing. We have attended many entertainment events and everyone of them were outstanding. Casino is smoke free, newly renovated and clean. Machines have always treated us well. My Mom & I really enjoy staying here. The rooms are clean & the staff is nice. This is my Moms favorite place to stay and gamble. I am very disappointed in how Security handled a situation. My Mom left something in the lobby when we were checking in. When we realized and went to look for it...it was gone. We asked the front desk... They saw it but wasnt sure where it was and sent me to Security. I gave them the time frame hoping the could see on camera where it went. They told me the could but cant acuse. What good are the dam cameras then. Not too happy...

I stayed the night in the hotel and spent some time in the casino. I really enjoyed my stay. Im going back next week.

Terrible Casino! Like been there a few times, and if you want to win pennies and hundreds you put in the machines, this Casino is your place! And its not like I was putting $20 in and expecting it to pay big, $180 in a machine here and there playing machines, win just over the amount you put in, then drains it down to pennies payout. New player, way to impress me! Worthless, stay away and go to Turning Stone instead!

Breakfast was good but could have been great having one toaster for some 200 plus guest was a drag . Maybe having 2 Or maybe a waffle maker would cut down on wait time to get a bagel or English muffin or toast .

The buffet was great and staff was polite and attentive. It would be great if they had a quiet place for breastfeeding or a place to sit in the bathrooms. I dont feel comfortable breastfeeding in public so I stood in the bathroom.

Beds were super comfy! Shower was hot. Tv was small.

We have stayed at Vernon downs a few times and love it. Rooms always clean and they provide a refrigerator and microwave. Indoor pool and jacuzzi large and lots of fun. Service very prompt and polite. Easy to find and quiet location.

Buffet was well priced but alot of the food wasnt even warm even while the place was packed. Also, the three pieces of chicken I picked were all uncooked in the middle.Desserts were tasty though.

The casino is very strategically place out, and their machines are mostly up to date. Their Buffet has really good food and is very decently priced. The parking is exceptional as well with many places to park including a garage and valet parking. they have a beautiful dining hall for parties and events as well.

I was the maid of honor for a wedding at the hotel. Our room had no air conditioning. We went to the front desk 3 times to ask about it. Eventually a man came up to the room the second night and looked at it and said “yeah if you put it at less than 65 degrees it breaks it”....that was it. It wasn’t fixed, we were not moved to another room. Nothing. Spent $300 for two nights in a hot room. We could barely sleep. We brought it up again when checking out and were told that the manager would call us. It’s been over a week and no phone call. Also, there were 3 weddings going on and you are not allowed to use the stairs in the hotel so a ton of time was spent waiting for the elevator, people were complaining all weekend about it.

Reasonable, cozy, but dated. Everyone is very nice and I enjoyed the live entertainment. The Sunday buffet was pretty good as well.

Always have a blast here and do win on these slots.

Fun day,food choices,not so much

My husband and I got married at vernon downs. I posted a more detailed review on wedding wire. I was lied to, rooms are disgusting, and hotel staff is useless. I do not recommend booking a wedding here.

Room was in need of a refresh. Had to leave the property for food choices. Breakfast choice were very minimal.

I think that Breakfast should has some hot items like scrambled eggs sausage or bacon. waffles something like that.
