I love seeing the latest art. Their gift shop also has amazing finds from pottery to folk art and one of a kind jewelry made by local artists.
Masks mandatory and temps taken at door. Plenty of hand sanitizer and social distancing room. Free admission but donations are appreciated. We saw six pieces of original Florida Highwaymen art.
I am extremely disappointed with the Venice Art Center, and I would not recommend it if you expect professionalism.I was very excited to sign up for the Wed. evening pottery class, in fact I was planning on taking all of them, so on October 24 I payed for a membership and a class.I received an email from Paypal (pictured) and nothing else. Weeks went by and still no receipt or welcome email from the art center.I thought, “Okay, maybe I’ll learn all I need to know on the first day of class.”But I ended up missing the first day of class (I booked over it), and after spending yesterday sick and wanting to rest today, I realized I’d miss today’s class too, so I called to ask if I could switch to the next round of 6 classes since I’d missed two. I didn’t receive any sort of email or call saying that there’d be an issue with me missing a class. To my surprise, I was told that I could be refunded a Venice Art Center gift card for *four* classes and pay for the other two because I’d lost my spot. I hung up on the manager to think about it, then I called back just to be sure I’d understood correctly. I asked if the next round of classes was full. She told me there’s only one person signed up for it. She also told me I should’ve gotten an email receipt with a supplies list and the refund policy...I got none of that. In fact, when she recited my email over the phone she started with an “L” instead of an “I”. So not only was I not warned about this policy, in which case I would understand, they couldn’t even make a tiny exception with a class that isn’t even a quarter full. And you can see in the email sent to me today that *now* Im being told about this policy. It’s absolutely ridiculous and I have no intention of using the gift card mailed to me. That’s $100+ wasted and god knows I’m extremely unhappy about it. I was so very excited to try my hand at the wheel again, but that’s out the window. I do not recommend the Venice Art Center. Find somewhere else.
Love the teachers. Especially Ms Norma Albertha, shes truly wonderful!
I enjoy visiting the Center and love the diversity of work always on display as well as the emphasis on education.
A great place to take art lessons. Stop and view the gallery and talk to the very friendly people who work there.
Great time at Reception: Members Show, In the style of...Art Inspired by Your Favorite Artist on March 03, 2017.Very inspiring Artist with good company and libations.
This was once a place for and run by artist with a great vision and mission. It has lost much of that and the current person in charge made us decide to no longer be members. Too bad as many of the long time members have decided likewise.
