Van Wert County Historical Society

I visited on Sunday. The museum has expanded quite a lot since the last time I visited (about 25 years ago). They have the original home, a log cabin, 1 room school house, barn full of farm equipment and railroad memorabilia. There is an annex displaying item from all US wars. Overall for a small community, they should be commended. And you should visit. No fee.

We LOVE the 4th of July festival here each summer! Weve also taken advantage of seminars that have been hosted here, as well as just enjoying the museum as a family. Always something new to learn each time we visit!

A wonderful historical place with something for everyone, including children. I will be going back to this again and again as there is so much to see you cant see it all at one time.

We had a very pleasant view of the Historical Society museum from our car as we passed through Van Wert. From other reviews, we were delighted to learn that the workers take adequate time off to spend with their families.

I was surprised at how much they have. I grew up in Van wert and never realized the museum was so packed full of van werts history. Highly recommended​

I waited all morning in order to visit and they didnt open not only then but for the course of the entire day and they made no bother to leave a sign as to why so it was a bad experience from a town of people who feel the world revolves around them.
