Any time we can find a space that tells us a bit more about the new location we happen to be visiting, we try our best to stop there. The PoCo Museum is free and worth the stop. You should plan to spend an hour or two there to really get a feel for the exhibits, but not much longer. There is a scavenger hunt for the younger crowd, and the back area, which doubled as a jail holds several fossils of animals found on the farmland of Porter County residents.

Free admission, but donations are welcome. Interesting exhibits. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. While it doesnt have its own designated parking, there are many free parking lots to the east and south of the building. Cool mammoth skull! There are stairs to enter, and no handicap accessibility to go upstairs, but it is an older building. Beautifully preserved artifacts. Fun way to spend an hour. Wish they were open on Tuesdays so we could stop by after visiting the farmers market. Such a nice piece of history!

Its a cute place, with some interactive things to do. Mostly it is things to read but they do have some neat artifacts. Especially their mastodon bone collection. I had no idea so many were found right here! I definitely recommend checking it out

This is awesome and very educational for children and adults. I took my sister and her kids here and they absolutely loved it. The best pary is it totally free to the public. The back part of the Museum was their favorite part where the animal fossils and skeletons are. I recommend this place to everyone.

Super cool Museum right in our backyard! Has some Mammoth Bones that are pretty cool and locally found. Also, they have a cool Cowboy and Military Room that are interesting. They change up their displays often with new updated exhibits.

Great museum showcasing the history of the Indiana dunes and the surrounding area. The county jail which was in use until the 70s is a window into the past. Displays are well done and interesting.

Cool, quirky museum thats completely free to visit. Tons of creativity and love are poured into this place and I always love visiting when Im assigned to take photos at events here or if Im just in the area. The people in charge here are very foreard-thinking and the result is a museum that is as entertaining as it is educational. Very cool.
