My wife Brenda and dog Chewy spent two great nights in this family and dog friendly place. The owner and his staff were very friendly and the rates were great. We came up to visit some relatives from Bristol Tn. Great weather will be back.

Rooms were cleaned well. Everyone was friendly. I would encourage anyone to rent one of the cabins.

This place is something else. I have been coming to swim for some time and I never thought they were like this . I called about a camping spot to tent camp with my wife two kids 4and10 and was told they dont allow tent camping. Basically telling me that tent campers are trashy. I am definitely not trashy not will I ever spend another dime here.

Love this place. So peaceful and quiet, and the man who owns this place is extremely nice and really cool to have a conversation with. Also nicest lake in champaign county hands down.

Very relaxing & comfortable. The owners; Ron & Teresa Rittenhouse, are so friendly & polite along with the campgrounds being so well kept. Which adds to the essence of Rittenhouse resort.

Had a nice relaxing time away from home. Very clean and the staff were wonderful. Very helpful getting in. we had a problem with our hitch leaving. The guy helped us get it all straightened out and on the road. We will be going back. And we will be recommending Rittenhouse to others!Thank you!

Quite the tranquil place, very clean. The host was awesome, greeted everyone with a smile and a welcoming air and feel. We will go back! Adults and kids all enjoyed themselves.

Today was our FIRST visit for our Grandsons birthday. We were asked to social distance since we were a larger group.(12) We set up a 10x10 canopy and had chairs set up on the outside of all 4 corners. We only used the shaded inside for the 2 infants with us. It was very windy,so we used a picnic table and a post in the ground to secure our canopy. 4 more family members arrived, they were told we were hiding behind the trees so they couldnt see us, but I thought maybe they were just joking with them to describe where we were. Everyone stayed in the water except 3 adults and 4 children under 4. I called at 4:45 to ask closing time and they told me 5:00. We hurried and got everyone dressed, area packed up and cleaned and carried everything to the shelter house. I was the last one in our group and asked if they had a restroom I could use. The lady told me I would have to use the porta-john on the beach because the bathroom was already closed. I had my son in law take the 9 month old I was carrying and started to go back when she angrily told me I could NOT go back to the beach. She said everyone had to be off the beach by 5 and it was 5:15 and because we were corraling they could have received a hefty fine. We were all family who was doing our best to social distance and I feel her comments and attitude were very unprofessional. We never knew she had an issue with us until that point, a simple reminder of closing time and procedure would have helped us being it was our first time there. Other than that, it was a very nice place. I just feel they were very rude.

Very nice place to swim. HOWEVER...The people working the front are extremely RUDE! it was our first time there. We didnt know what time it closed and because we were busy swimming having fun we lost track of time so we were the last to load up and leave. The lady as we were leaving wouldnt even allow my mother to use the restroom because we werent out on time.

The owners are very friendly, its family oriented. Its a great place to camp even for a short get away, I will definitely back to camp here again.

Great time make sure you have water shoes

The only thing that would bring people to this campground is the swimming lake but that comes with the staff trying to get every dime out of the campers. We had 3 adults. 2 adults swim for free but the 3rd has to pay and that is understandable. We had 2 adults go swimming and the other stayed in the camper. I stayed at the camper never going to the lake but since i was the one that booked the site my wife was free but the 3rd adult had to pay. We payed for 3 adults to camp but we were being charged for a 3rd adult to swing when we only had 1 actually swimming. They also charge you $3 to take cooler in to the swimming lake.We stopped at the dump station when leaving and before i could get everything hooked up to start dumping the owner came out and said We charge $10 to dump I looked at him and laughed thinking he was joking but he hung around until i paid him $10. Ive done alot of camping and never had to pay to use a campsites dump.Restrooms were old and had a sewer smell as you walked by.. 1 shower stall and it was old, out dated and not very clean.You can reserve a site to the campground but you cant pay online or over the phone. You have to write a check or drive to the campground to pay. We had to drive 1 hour one way to reserve our site.If it wasnt for the good time we had with friends this campground would receive a 0 star review.. Nothing about this campground would want me to go back. They nickel and dime you for everything. To keep people from complaing they should raise their prices but if they did that nobody would camp at Rittenhouse. There is a reason why we could call Wednesday evening to camp on a friday. We all know that finding a campground during the COVID is hard 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time but to get a site 1 day ahead of time should have rang a bell but like i said we had friends camping at Rittenhouse and we made a good time on a very bad campground.180 site campground and it was only half full.

Rough start with check in but turned out ok

The owners were very accommodating of our last minute reservation on a holiday week. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Nice level, shady camp site with a full hook up at a very reasonable price. I agree with others that the bath house/restrooms desperately need to be updated. We enjoyed a nice stay. Would come back again.

We’ve been a seasonal camper here for a couple summers. The swimming lake is clean. We have a large, shady site. It’s a tidy, quiet place to relax but plenty to do, especially on the holiday weekend. Ron and Teresa run a really great place.

Me and my family and some friends went camping Labor Day weekend. But the bathrooms rooms are a little small and dated. Overall it’s all cool place.

Super helpful owners, the lake was so nice to swim. We told them about a low hanging branch was rubbing our camper, it was taken care of when we got back that afternoon. We will be back.

Fun place to relax and take the family swimming. Didnt camp, just swam. Refreshments were reasonably priced, and the staff were super accommodating! Had a great time without spending alot of money! Love it!

One of the best Ive been to! The staff is very helpful and super friendly. The grounds are well maintained. The sites are a good size and very clean, lots of trees for shade. The bathrooms are clean. Everything there is very reasonably priced. I cant wait to go back. If I could rate higher I would, it was a fantastic experience!

Unfortunately, we did not get to stay, but they took our deposit of $84 (for two campers). We originally scheduled a weekend of camping, but called (and I spoke to Theresa) on 7/20 to change the reservation to another weekend. She told me that we could do that for a $5 fee which I agreed to. When I called today 8/21 to inquire if our campers could be next to one another when we camped this weekend, the owner (Theresa) informed me I never called and changed the reservation so our deposit was forfeited. She was kind enough to say we could still come camp (hahahahaha). Needless to say, we wont ever camp there. Lesson learned, dont trust anyone, get it in writing.Update: Even after sending in a copy of my cell phone statement proving I called, no response from owners.

Just returned from Rittenhouse resort. Campground was nice but, DONT rent the little cabins!!! First of all the cabins have NO plumbing or water, they are also tiny, my wife and I were the only ones staying in the cabin. The bunk beds Yes I said bunk bedswere ridiculous! (Would have been fun when I was 8 years old!) So un comfortable that we were paid up for one more night and we left so I could get a good nights sleep. They charge $80 bucks a night. I wouldnt stay there again even if it were free!!!The shower and bathroom were dirty and Nasty!!!Wont be wasting my time or money ever returning to this place!

Quiet peaceful camp ground friendly people nice blue water

Called to make a reservation. Lady wouldnt even give me the time of day to schedule a cabin reservation. I asked questions about the place because i am coming from out of town and she just hung up on me. I tried to call back and she picked up, then hung up 3 times. Guess they dont want my business as a first time customer.

Peaceful area

Its a nice and peaceful campground. The beach is great! The owners are very nice as well. The only downside is the showerhouse/bathrooms are in need over a major, and long overdue upgrade.

Great place to get away

We resentley stayed here, the lake was full of Algae and slim. we got a cabin it’s very small and, the show house/bathroom was dirty and needs a update bad! One morning my son and I where on a walk, and gather some sticks off the ground around the camp grounds.When I was buying fire wood from the owners on for the second time on our stay, when getting the wood the owner harassed me over us picking up sticks saying “it makes a mess”

Nice, clean campground in a quiet setting. This is our 2nd summer renting a seasonal site and we love it. The lake is clean and a nice way to cool off. Prices are very reasonable.

Really just stopped by to check camping prices out looks like a tranquil place to rest for a few days

Very disappointed in our stay. The other campers were very friendly. We stayed Friday evening until Sunday. We were gone all day Saturday seeing the Ohio Caverns and didnt get back until after swimming hours which are only 12 to 6. So we decided to pack up and swim after on Sunday. Check out is at 12, so the same time the swimming started. We tried to go swimming and were told it was $5 per person even though we had a wristband we hadnt used and we paid for 2 days of swimming. The owners turned away my crying children without a second thought. It broke my heart. Ive never been to a campground you couldnt swim on the last day.The bathrooms were also very out dated and were out of toilet paper all weekend.But the owner gave my kids a hard time about pouring water in the dirt making a puddle, saying they were making a mess... we are camping... outside. It would have been no different if it had rained.The playground is also outdated and doesnt have much to do, just a merry go round and a tube that connects to the slide.Im just so disappointed in the owners lack of empathy and care. They are too money hungry to care about others. Being the owners they easily could have let us pay the $6 for my two that didnt have wristbands. Because it isnt even free to swim their if you camp. It is discounted.I do not recommend this place for families.

Ron is a great host. My wife and I rented a seasonal site and Ron has been very welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to the summer. After a full summer of camping here I can say that this is the campground for my wife and I. The rates are reasonable for a seasonal site and Ron and Teresa are great hosts and are always willing to help you however they can. The Halloween celebration was quite the event with a chili cookoff, haunted hayride, and dj. Looking forward to the 2018 season. We had no problems at all.
