Its a very nice theater. A bit on the small side but large enough to hold good venues. Would have given a 5 star rating but mens restroom is small, cant accommodate more than 3 men at a time....
The Grove Theater is located in the heart of Upland, CA. Around the theater are shops that line both sides of the streets, there are many shops to enjoy while you walk around having a great time. Just a short distance from some of the main shops, is the Grove Theater. This theater, at one time was a movie theater. Then it was converted into a local theater where plays, concerts and Broadway musicals have taken the stage. I took my date there too see a showing of Disneys Newsies! From the start it was awesome! After finding our seats, some of the cast was interacting with people in the audience and was playing with the kids. Once the show began, the play was great with great acting and amazing singing. The choreographed dancing was spot on. The music was very upbeat and I found myself dancing in my seat. At intermission there are snacks and drinks, including beer! Available and allowed into the theater. At the conclusion of the show, all the characters were in the lobby and were ready to talk and take pictures. I am beginning to really like these smaller theaters because I love to get pictures with the cast. Something the large theaters like Pantages does not offer. I had a blast and highly recommend this theater. I am hoping to come back in a few months to see Freaky Friday!
Great experience! Sound was wonderful.! Not a bad seat in the house. This theater is a gem. We are so lucky to have this jewel in our neighborhood. Why drive to LA and fight the traffic when we have great entertainment in our own backyard. Thank you Grove Theater for great entertainment.
Small theatre with great community actors and actresses! Very enthusiastic, entertaining and enjoyable! And the concession stand sells movie theatre pocorn! Very hospitable theatre staff. Lots of easy and free parking. And a great day care center stays open next door for restless toddlers and youngsters
Been here a couple of times to see a show, not a bad seat in the house. The prices are more than reasonable from 30 to 50 dollars a seat. The acoustics are good too. The bathrooms could use a little updating, but thats nitpicking. No real issues and will continue to go there, already checking to see what show we want to see next.
We always enjoy all shows at the Grove. This was my first time going to a concert there. We saw Abby Road which was a Beatles tribute band. The show was awesome. The crowd was very excited singing and remembering all the Beatles hits. You do need to get there early for parking.
Great little theater. Wheelchair accessible it is but the slope down to the accessible seating is not ADA compliant. Therefore exiting the theater can prove quite challenging for a manual wheelchair user.
It was quaint, and had the feel of someplace Ive visited as a child and loved. It is in desperate need of many repairs and had a bit of an Old Theatre smell. BUT, that was the charm. The band, Cool Breeze performed as if they were at the Met and the crowd loved them. Every beat and intonation was on point and I was memorized by the drummers skill. I loved the evening and would very happily return for future events.
Smallish theater that accommodates about 300 folks. We saw Frozen Jr. because our grand dtr (17 yo) was in it so of course it was great. What was unusual was they allowed popcorn, soft drinks, etc in the theater. Id recommend this place to others.
Nice old theater brought to life with community live shows. We saw Frozen Jr. It was well performed and worth the trip to Upland, CA from high desert. Shops and eateries nearby.
We always have fun when we go to events here ..
Was given a ticket from a friend for my birthday to see Menopause they were so nice that my ticket was upgraded and was given water and popcorn...everyone there was so nice. I met one of the cast members who was fantastic and very enjoyable. I wish I had known about it sooner. I did have a great time and the show was fabulous funny and spot on I could have seen it again and again. All the women were great and had great singing voices. Loved it!!! All the seats in the theater are great.
Unfortunately the sound is horrible. Seats, drink counter are passable, restrooms clean. Its very intimate, if the band were good it would be nice, but theyve got to get a sound tech.
Church Basement Ladies was a great a fun time. We took our moms for an early mothers day celebration and they loved the show. A great time was had by all.
I took my granddaughter here to see Frozen, enjoyable! I love the small theater experience.
Great facility, great musical. Staff is very friendly. Cast was wonderful!
Great show! I had a wonderful time.
This little theater is wonderful! We saw Newsies and the show was fantastic. There is a teamof very talented cast and crew. I cant wait to see another show here! There isnt a bad seat in the house, and the confessions were reasonable. I was so impressed with the caliber of show they put on.
Wish the seating wasnt so cramped but otherwise a very nice venue.
Great theater with amazing staff and gorgeous scenery and nostalgic atmosphere. Great prices with family friendly environment and professional actors with even better writers thank you everyone
Perfect size theater! Not too big, not too small, just right! Staff ALWAYS courteous...would LOVE! if there were more than two bathroom stalls BUT! The great entertainment in our backyard makes up for it
They put on great shows. It is very outdated seating is uncomfortable. I give it 4 stars because they are trying to keep arts alive which is always great. They are a snack bar that offers a variety of snacks. Their son system is decent.
Saw Freaky Friday...had a friend in the play.No seat is a bad seat...extreme talent. Support your local theatre!!!
Reviewing as a performer, it is getting better all the time. New owner making lots of improvements. As a patron, it is a nicely redone movie theater, with a 30s feel in the beautiful lobby, complete with chandeliers and a baby grand piano.
My 1st time here and it was a nice theater. The seats were perfect and you can see the stage perfect.
Quaint, darling little theater. Has the old fashioned ticket booth out front. Very friendly staff. Met the owner; very nice & friendly man. Our daughter got tickets for my husband & me to see a rock tribute band to the Eagles called The Boys of Summer. Outstanding band! Be sure to buy their popcorn. So reasonably price & they stuff the bag. My husband & I are large people and yet the seats were very comfortable. They are having a New Years Eve event; try them out. Overall, a great little theater.
Ive seen so many awesome shows here, highly recommended!
I truly enjoyed the musical. The ticket price was reasonable.
Tribute bands are the best!
Wonderful venue! Its owned by a nice family. The setup is similar to an elementary auditorium but that helps to keep each seat with a good view of the stage. Came to see a wonderful burlesque show and cant wait to return. Bottled beer and boxed wine is sold at snack bar but is reasonably priced.. Loved the popcorn.
The price is great and the shows are cool, I just wish the building manager would do some repair and clean it up. Paint, dust, redo the carpet, maybe refurbish the original furniture. Love whoever is designing the sets...
The BEST live Theater in the INLAND EMPIRE. A family, truly the Grove Theater... and a Wonderful Thank you,to Owner, she gave me my start as YRS ago as a Makeup Artist. The Plays,Music.. it truly BROADWAY Magic.. in a Suburb town of Upland Ca.
We had a wonderful time seeing Beauty and the Beast Jr. It was a lovely, quaint theatre with a beautiful arrangement for staging. Just the right size to see all your favorite performers. ️
Wonderful place to enjoy with the family, speechless...
We had a great time at the Grove Bruno Mars.
Went to go see the PJ masks show with my four year old. The show was great the venue is great my only thing was I couldnt understand why they sold alcohol to the adults obviously there. But there were I was thinking to drive their children home I was a little disturbed by that
The Grove Theatre, misdirecting, dream crushing, and overall infested with favoritism. If you ever had a dream of being in a play, this place is definitely not for you. Considering the amount of actors and actresses that are in their productions, it’s impossible for newcomers who are trying to get their foot in the door of the theatrical world to get a role because the directors just choose people from previous plays to be in parts that were originally given to the newbies. Everyone is snobby, conceited, and lacks empathy. They make good plays, but it’s all a big scam when it comes to behind the scenes.
Small clean little cozy theatre. Everyone was nice. Definitely will be back!!!!
Great venue for excellent plays. Local talent. Great inexpensive concession stand with excellent popcorn. Beer, wine, soda, bottled water various candy.
Nice and comfortable place to watch a show. We had a blast watching menopause the musical.
Their productions are always excellent. The owners are also so talented.
They need to really work on their microphones... I have been there twice and both time the mics had sound problems. As far as the actual plays they were both cute and pretty well done considering that most of the actors were children
WHAT A FANTASTIC WELCOME THANK YOU STAFF AND PERFORMERSLOVED MY TIME AT THE GROVE!!!
Cute little theater with local shows. They have a small concession stand, but I recommend having a meal before you go.
The wife and I go there all the time its a great neighborhood venue
The Grove theatre was awesome. We will definitively be attending other events there.
Very beautiful theater and great staff
Great place. Some sound issues though
If you live in Upland, and love Plays and Concerts, and you dont want to go to LA or Pasadena...The Grove Theater is the place to go!!Friendly staff, Great seats and POPCORN AND CANDYIF YOU WANT WINE OR BEERTHEY HAVE IT TOO
Still has that old school theatre feel. Great shows and awesome staff.
My wife and I absolutely LOVE seeing musicals at the Grove Theatre. We’ve seen Joseph, Grease, All Shook Up, Abba, Annie, Disney’s Tarzan, Come Home For the Holidays, and Hairspray. Most of the actors/actresses are high school and college students with a few more seasoned, i.e., experienced, professionals thrown in for the older, adult parts. But don’t let the cast age fool you. The main stars are incredible singers, actors, and dancers, for their age, as are the actors who are in the chorus (background actors). You can really see how much they enjoy being part of the cast! The theater itself looks like it used to be a movie theater. But this is a good thing. There is only one level of seats (no balcony or mezzanine) and every seat is a great seat. My wife and I always sit in the exact same seats and we have a great view of the stage from these seats. Of course, the stage is not as wide or deep as you’d see at a Broadway theater, and the sets are simplified to match the stage, but this in no way detracts from the show! Just use your imagination and you will enjoy the show! All the actors wear mikes and so the sound is very, very good!At the end of each performance, the actors line up in the lobby where we, the audience, can speak with them, take pictures with them, and shake their hand on a job well done! Try to do that at a Broadway play or at the Pantages Theater. Good luck! The ability to speak with the actors is one of my favorite reasons for going to The Grove Theater! After every show I try to speak with as many of the actors as I can, as well as all the main stars. I always enjoy telling them how much I enjoyed their performance (which is absolutely true!) and I especially like seeing how much they like receiving the compliment. They are all very approachable. Sometimes, they even have given me a hug after I’ve given them my heartfelt compliment! Unexpected, but truly appreciated! We saw Hairspray two Sundays ago. It was fantastic! The lead actress is only 16 years old and she can sing and act! She definitely makes Tracy Turnblad come alive. The actor who plays Corny Collins has been in many plays I’ve seen at The Grove, as well as being an instructor at a local college. He is extremely talented! Finally, the actors who play Link Larkin, Penny Pingleton, and Seaweed are incredible! As I spoke to these five lead actors I told them all the same thing: I liked their performance even more than the live performance that was broadcast on TV a couple of years ago, and that show had professionals whose names we all know. That is the highest compliment I could give them, and it was absolutely true and from my heart!I enjoyed Hairspray so much, that by the time I reached the parking lot to drive home (50 miles away), I told my wife I wanted to come back again the following Sunday. That was today. Once again my wife and I enjoyed a great performance. Next Sunday is the farewell (final) performance. I will once again be in the audience (in my usual seat) enjoying the performance and I am sure it will be as bittersweet for me as it will be for the cast! I’ve never gone to see the same play twice, much less three times! But, Hairspray, the Grove Theater, and these amazing young actors are all so good that I have no problem buying another ticket. After next Sunday, that’s it. No more Hairspray by this particular cast. But, I know I’ll see some of my favorite actors in future shows, and I look forward to seeing them again in their new parts! If you have never seen a musical at The Grove, I highly recommend you pick a play, buy the tickets, and go spend 2 to 3 hours enjoying yourself. It probably won’t be the last time you see a show at The Grove, and you may even wonder why you did not go to see shows here sooner!Thank you for reading this review. I do not have any relationship with anyone at The Grove and I have not been given any inducement to leave this review.
Wonderfull flaminco show!!
Nice time .People are nice
Fun night the performers were great. Love the history of the grove. Local legend
2 friends and I attended Waistwatchers the musical. We were very disappointed in this performance. The theater was fine, but the price charged for this mediocre play was outrageous.
Very good will return

This is solely for the theatre itself. The ElVIS show was amazing!!!!! But seriously we paid good money and we spent the entire show sweating. FIX YOUR AIR CONDITIONER!!!! It is 81 degrees with people sweating in the theatre and lobby.
Great place to see and tribute bands
Enjoyed the show.
Great theater, great sound system too.
Fabulous small theater experience!
Jordon Killion you had a great performance for Disneys Highschool Musical Jr.
Saw Elf the musical here at Christmas. In need of a little TLC, but fun local theater and very affordable.
Im glad we have this in Upland. People behind this are really trying their best to bring the Arts to the city.
We saw the Little Mermaid play here and it was lot of fun. This is an older theater with a lot of nostalgia.
The tribute bands there are fantastic. Theater is quant.
Good shows, might do better if they advertised more
