Very nice place to get the kids out of the house. Went there 11 am in Sunday, there were only about 4 different families there. The kids got to take their time to look around, and were excited to see and learn about a lot of things. I love the tribute to the fallen 9/11 firefighters. Young kids will have a lot of fun there. I also like that they have hand sanitizer in every corners because kids touch everything. .
It’s a great place to visit if your kids/grandkids are fascinated with all things fire department. They get a couple of fire lessons throughout the museum, take pictures on fire trucks and get to wear firefighters gear. It can all be done in an hour or two. The 9-11 Memorial is really heartwarming. If you are done early. There are other small museums you can visit in the same building.
This is basically one room annex of the Aviation museum. Not really big enough to be its own museum, a little too big to be displayed in any one fire station. Seems like the exhibits have not been maintained since it was first installed. It is understandably geared towards children, but many of the exhibits were missing parts or not working. However, the old engines have been meticulously restored and probably get polished every week. They have an extensive and often random collections of fire station memorabilia, collected and donated by past fire chiefs. Great for fire station enthusiasts.
Awesome place for the kids to get hands on introduction to fire fighter equipment and safety guidelines. They got to put on fire fighter gear, sit on trucks and watch educational videos on fire and water safety.
Very small area. They have a bunch of old firetrucks, some the kids can climb into. Kids can play dress up and a puzzle area. Dont expect to spend more than an hour max at this place. Then again the admission rate is $4, so you get what you pay for
Great time if you do both the firefighter and aerospace together. Solid for 2-8 yr olds and those who are older and appreciate things
My son had a great time! Many different fire trucks and interactive activities for children.$5 for adults/seniors, $4 for children
It’s not only fun, but it’s also full of educational learning! It’s cute that it has firefighter cloths and helmets for all sizes for people to dress up to have a feel of it! It also has simulation experience for kids to learn the fire safety through out play! There is also section for grownups to see all kinds of firefighter vehicles from all ages to shown the history of it. One thing I like the most is the 9-11 memorial for us to remember the firefighters who has had sacrifice their life to save other during the 9-11.
My son loves it,its a big place
Nice Place our 2 year old grandson was a little young for it,but still had. Good time.
As a bus driver taking kids they enjoyed and had a good time
What a great museum for children under under 8 or 9 (my opinion.) Lots of firetruck for children to play with. Reading materials for fire safety. Not to mention the admission price was $4.00 for children and $5.00 for adults! What a great steal!
Priced well and the perfect getaway from NYC! I take my kids there on rainy days.
A nice experience for kids..educational and i highly recommend
Cute lil place to visit.
Small museum but overall nice and great for kids.
If your kid loves fire trucks, this is the place for them. My son is a little too young to read and understand the cool facts and appreciate the old engines they have but the fact that he can climb on them and play, win him over! Wish it was a little bigger but thats ok.
Small little museum inside of the aviation museum. Tickets are more than reasonable ranging from $4-5. Great hands on activities for the kids with traditional museum displays for the education centered person.
Wonderful exhibit. The kids loved dressing up as fire fighters and doing drills.
I love that they teach children what to do in case of a fire at home.
The caterer harassed me and was belligerent . The museum part was very nice but the cafe manager would not leave me alone coming over with complaints over 5 times in the span of an hour. I complied with all of this mans requests and he was still rude to me and kept giving me a hard time. I dont recommended using this caterer or the cafe here. I recommend staying briefly enough that you dont have to interact in any way with the cafe people. Save yourself the stress and embarrassment.
My kids love this place.is little but small kids can enjoy.clean and well maintained.
The children LOVED seeing and playing with all the Exhibits
Great museum
Cute with lots to see but it could have been cleaner. No one from staff interacted at all. An ok afternoon with the kids.
Very nice museum but it should be a little bigger
Great place. If you want the have fun and learn something in a cool environment this is the place to go.
Not a must but was nice to see the history of the fire department
Good for the kids
This place is so wonderful to spend the day with the kids!! Tons of activities and things to see and do everything is clean and orderly everybody is nice.
The Firefighters Museum is located and uses the same entrance as the Aviation Museum, though it has its own entrance fees. It is suitable for lower elementary and preschool ages. It has some hands on activities, such as crawling through fake smoke, trying on firefighter gear (helmuts, coats, overalls), fire safety procedures, a small reading and puzzle room, & some antique fire engines. Bathrooms are located next to the lunchroom- more properly in the Aviation Museum.
It was ok. I wouldnt visit again. We spent under an hour with our 4 and 6 year old.
It was great and the people were very nice.
Great experience. Lots of things for kids to do.
Very small space but enough to keep young children entertained
Good
Great place for the kids. Very educational and a wonderful staff.
This place is interactive and incredibly kid friendly. We had 5 ranging from 1 to 14 and they all enjoyed themselves for 2 hours. The staff is knowledable and so nice. The price is also much more affordable than the neighboring museums!
A great place for kids. I have taken my Grandson there 2 times and he loves it.
Great place. Well worth the visit.
I would recommend this place for ages 2-12 and/or for anyone to learn about what firefighters do. You can also see models of the past fire trucks.
My two year old loves coming here. There’s a lot of history and old fire engines to look at.
Great place to learn about fire safety with kids. Its very small so it would take 45min to go through the place.
Perfect for my Little firefighter.
Great well maintained engines.
Cute little museum. Worth the hours there.
Fun place to learn about fire safety! Memorial for local 911 heros who lost their lives.
Small but great for young children. My 2 year old had a blast. Friendly staff.
We love visiting. There are many interactive exhibits for children as well as fascinating exhibits for adults.
