I love Wheres Rufus, mainly because the bartenders are amazing!

10 years ago I went I to this place the day it opened. I have so many great and not so great memories. A lot of loves created and lost. Ton of bar fights and crazy drama. Its was a place of finding friends and lifelong changes . It will be greatly missed by Tyler 2000s teens. ️️️

Wheres Rufus is a great place to go for cold beers, good people and goofy times. This bar has had its ups and downs, but is still going strong. Owner Shawn Galbraith has made sure that all of us are still seen as not only customers, but family over the years. Him and his wife Sherie are stellar people. Wheres rufus has pool tables, Golden Tee, Dart League, cornhole league, shuffleboard and around 20 or more inside TVs. As well as back patio and decking with fire pits and 4-6 more large TVs. Good place to watch the game, take down some shots, or even just go havr a drink and chill. Love these guys.

Favorite bar in Tyler! Would have date night twice a month here. Great drinks and prices! Variety of people from different backgrounds. So its comfortable and fun for anyone!

Music was to loud pool tables and sticks bbn in need off an update but a good place to end the evening.

My brother and I went there to drink a beer and play pool.never been there first impression what a dump went to the bar order a 2 budlights $ 9.25 this was at 4 oclock.there pool tables were in bad condition.played 2games and left. What A JOKE OF A BUSINESS AND BAR NEEDS A REMOLDING.!!!!!!

DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD! This bar puts up too an $85 hold on your card and claim after calling to find out why theres 3 charges on your card separate from your actual tab their response is that its common practice. This is not a common practice, I have been a bartender for over 25yrs and have never put a hold on someones card nor have I ever heard of this! even if you attempt to justify this it should be a posted policy as well as informing the customer the moment they hand you their card! its also apparent from all of the negative reviews this is not done to every customer! its a pick & choose practice! Horrible policy for a mediocre bar! After several days there is still money being held on my account!!

Needs lots of improvements but when the right people are working they make it great.

The inside is one of the dirtiest bars around, especially the restrooms, which stink beyond belief. A little chlorine would do them well. And preventing standing puddles of piss on the floor would be nice.Ive had many friends complain about the bartenders overcharging their tab. My advice is to only pay cash at this bar, or charge to your tab at your own risk.Tuesdays have religiously been the night to go here with cheap drinks and a good crowd. The patio is where it is at though, and is pretty good if anyone is there.

The staff charged my card 3 different times. Totaling $85 dollars. I was there a little over an hour. Complete and total thrives! Dont ever step foot in this place!!! Calling my lawyer on monday..

I had a good time here but mostly because of the group I was with. The waitress was nice enough but it did feel a bit trashy overall - both people and the establishment itself. Tables and menus were sticky and obviously a little old. But they had a fun environment and the patio area is cool too.

Wheres Rufus is a perfect name if the bartenders name is Rufus. He never once asked if we needed anything, he was rude and more interested in talking to his friends at the bar. The place smelled like a dirty mop bucket and the pizza was cold. The place is a dump.

This is hands down the best bar in town. You always feel welcomed by the staff. The food is very good! Just hands down a great place.

Location Location Location [but] ya gotta pay attention to the details. Bar and table tops sticky. Pool table looks like an autopsy was performed on it. Attitude is good but it takes people skills to pull it off successfully. Cant have a fat slob up there throwing attitude to 90% of the customers. Ya treat everybody like a friend! Even if ya hate em. Whenever my wife and I visit my parents in Tyler, we make sure to visit Wheres Rufus. We love the atmosphere, and staff. This bar hits most of my checks for a bar: Well poured drinks, cheep beer specials, great bar fare, and friendly people. This place has become our regular Tyler haunt.

Food was slightly above average. My waitress was very nice. I will go back again.

Friendly people and great pizza

My take on this place will prolly not help most as my only reason for coming here was to watch my VIKINGS play. I arrived mid-October 15 and came every Sunday game they played and I was in town. I since moved October 18, but definitely miss this place.Appreciated they always got my game going on the TV I chose, with sound. They always got my brew selection quickly. Altho I only came during NFL season, they remembered my name the following year, and I really tried to stay under the radar.. Its like my own Cheers.I tried once on a MNF game and TNF game, mmm, no. Dance night, poker night, definitely couldnt hear my game those nights, but thats ok, went to another place and stuck to Sundays only. Rufus seemed to always have something going on whatever night of week, which is great for those looking for variety.First year, theyd great food selections. Next year, nothing, hadda bring your own food or order delivery. Next year, the boss (owner) created his own pizzas and a few other selections. Id heard he was an incredible flavourista, quite creative with his seasonings and creations. Im no fan of pizza, but when twas all they had, ordered one, GET OUTTA HERE, this was good!! Yah, he has a knack!!Sadly, this year, no more of his creations.Theyve pizza, but its Digiorno. Oh well...

This is such a fun environment!! Ive been going here for awhile now and have so much playing shuffleboard and ordering off of the new menu, the pizza is amazing. The staff is super friendly and the new patio is perfect for this cooler weather. The built in firepits and tvs on the patio make it even more enjoyable. Make sure you check this bar out when youre in town!

The bartender isnt very nice and takes a while to get to you. Karaoke on Fridays though! Great patio. Can get kinda ratchet at times.

I cant get anyone to answer I have few questions about the establishment .. I would like to know the ages? If there cover charge? And if they respect the marriage law for couple that is 23 & 20.. if they bring marriage certificate for proof?

Friends got mimosas and immediately said they were nasty. Zero bubbly. So we asked to see the bottle. Its was apparently the cheapest screw top stuff they could find. Hardly carbonated. Mustve been open for a while. They gave us the bottle and then charged over 30 dollars for it. It was labeled as korbel on the receipt.. when asked about it they simply said. Oh thats fine never going back

I like the atmosphere. Nice chill spot. What I didnt like was how my card was charged several times. Room forever to get it refunded.

After waiting for 30 minutes on my first drink I go back to my pool table and start playing. Ive taken maybe 4 sips out of the drink and it comes up missing. I wait another 30 minutes after my pool game and get another one and boom that one comes up missing immediately after only 1 sip then I see the waitress about to throw it away! I stopped her and explained my beer is cold and full please stop. Guess what she did it a 3rd time after that. I waited for over an hour just to have my beer thrown away by staff. I guess to increse sales or something. Good small bar but they need all new staff asap. From top to bottom.

A good place for a get together with friends and or family

It seemed like the bartenders were put off every time I ordered a beer. The burger I ordered was not put together well, falling apart as soon as it was picked up. Seems like the only ones getting proper service were the ones That clearly were regulars. Save ur time and money. Dont go there.

Good place to chill until the college crowd has one too many, then it can get either fun or too dramatic. Manager does a good job IMHO

After walking by the place for over a year me and my friend deciced to go in and play pool and we had a blast we where for four hours we are going back tomorrow every one was nice and pleasent to deal with.

Its a nice bar, good drinks but as soon as you walk in you can tell the regulars run this bar. You have to become a regular inorder to enjoy yourself at this bar. Bought 2 drinks and headed for the exit lol.

Not the most friendly people in town for sure...Seem to take care of only people they know...Good luck with growing your bar!!!!

A friend and I decided to hit up Wheres Rufus last night after enjoying a nice meal at Cheddars. He now lives in Mississippi, and we both wanted him to have fun on his last night in Tyler before heading back. We walk in, and after getting carded, head to the bar. I told the short male bartender my drink of choice, and he blew me off, catering to the other patrons that walked up after we did. Someone mentioned that his name is Greg, & his attitude and customer service is way below standard.After receiving my Bud Light in a bottle, I gave him a $5, and received just $.75 in change. I explained that I gave him $5 and he said very rudely, Its $4.25. Really?! He also failed to mention that Coors were just $2 per bottle. I couldve gotten 2 beers for that price with change coming back. Wheres Rufus had a slight unpleasant smell, and the bathrooms were horrid. It was large pools of liquid on the floor from 2 of the 3 stalls. The last stall was out of order, and the paper towel dispenser was broken.After listening to the djs personal music blasting from his computer, I decided to request a popular song that would get the bored crowd on its feet. They told me we dont take requests. However, one of three djs announced that they received a slow jam request in which he played. I know one of the djs from another location and I asked him to play the song, in which he didnt. Through out the night, all they mostly played was 98% techno, with a little bit of Hip Hop/R&B. To my understanding, you need to accommodate everyones music tastes, and not just play what you as a dj want to hear. Or just play what your friend(s) want to hear. While boring the rest of the crowd to tears. Im known for dancing and I didnt so much as move a toe.My friend and I left Wheres Rufus very disappointed. We were looking for a fun night on his last night in town. If I had known this was going to be such a disappointment, we wouldve just ended it at Cheddars. Seeming as though the night life in Tyler for the younger crowd (28-30) is pretty much dead. Will we be going back? Hell no.
