Great Campus and very interesting Museum. Would be great if there were tours inside of some iconic buildings like the labs George Washington Carver used to teach his students.I suggested an edit to the location. The visitor parking is at W Montgomery Rd, next to House Oaks. Park here and then walk to the Museum, entering the gate to the left.

The lunches and dinners in Tompkins Hall could use a bit more work. But other than that small issue, its a great campus! Would love to get more restaurants around the university. But one thing at a time!

The air museum was awe inspiring. The aircraft, the movie about the Tuskegee Airmen and everything there sent chills up my spine. When I left there, not only did I learn things I didn’t already know, but I was soaring through the clouds with them. Really a GREAT exhibition.

Tuskegee University in Tuskegee,Alabama founded by Lewis Adams and Booker T. Washington on July 4,1881. The ONLY school of higher learning in the country that is a total federally protected historic site. This beautiful campus is home to the nations winningest HBCU football program and the home of the Marching Crimson Pipers band-the oldest HBCU band in the country. Tuskegee University is also home to the only School of Veterinary on a HBCU campus. It has the oldest School of Nursing in the state of Alabama. The campus is comprised of 5500 acres of beautifully maintained rolling hills and trees. If you are looking for a great historical location please visit. While there take in the tour of the Oaks,Booker T. Washingtons home and George Washington Carvers lab.Not far from campus you can visit the museum of the famed Tuskegee Airmen whom during World War II never lost a bomber doing escort missions. So again please give this a look...

Maybe we came on an off day, but the air-conditioning wasnt working and we never saw a NPS employee? Only the bookstore cashier. I learned a lot, but felt like the museum has the potential to be so much more! I would have loved to have seen a replica of his lab and some better grounds upkeep. Still, very much worth your time to visit!

The campus is beautiful. The thing I loved most about our your is the student guides storytelling capability and hearing about the universitys vast history from the buildings, the cemetery and its connection to American History. If you have a chance to visit the beautiful campus, make sure you schedule a guided tour.

The early history of the Tuskegee Institute is very well preserved and presented in the home of Booker T Washington and the George Washington Carver Museum. The tour of The Oaks, Booker T Washingtons home is a must. See Bookers office and his beautiful home as the park ranger tells wonderful stories of the family. The museum of George Washington Carvers wonderful contributions to agriculture and new product development along with countless artifact from his time in Tuskegee are displayed here. Park by The Oaks and then the museum is a short walk from there.

I am a travel writer for National Park Planner and I visited Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site in July 2014. Located in Tuskegee, Alabama, the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site is the only National Park dedicated to a college campus. Created in 1881 by the Alabama State Legislature as the Normal School for Colored Teachers at Tuskegee, the school that started out in a small building on the grounds of a church soon grew into one of the premier Historically Black Colleges in the United States. The school is now called Tuskegee University, the name changing from Tuskegee Institute in 1985.The National Park Service operates just two facilities in the park, the George Washington Carver Museum and Booker T. Washington’s home, The Oaks. The museum also serves as the park’s Visitor Center. Washington, the black community’s leading spokesman and one of its top educators, was hired to run the school from the start by founders Lewis Adams and George Campbell. He brought promising botanist George Washington Carver to the school in 1896. Carver would go on to acclaim as a chemurgist, one who creates usable industrial products from plants, and is most famous for his work with peanuts, inventing hundreds of products from this legume.Visitors to the park are also welcome to walk around the campus to see a number of the original buildings still in existence. These building are not open to the public, but information signs at the front of each one gives a short history of the buildings. For complete information on the park and plenty of quality photos, please visit National Park Planner (npplan).
