Only went to check out the museum. Wasnt what I expected. The thing that impressed me the most was that it was an old train station. I enjoyed looking at the photo which peaked my curiosity and googled more about it when I got home. That statement kind of sums it up. They give you a taste but dont delivery on the story or exhibits.
Love the historicness of this building.Photo by: Angela Ferguson*Fairy Light Photography*
I just wanted to drop a quick thank you for all the hospitality and encouragement I received when I blew through town a couple weeks ago. Because of your encouragement I stayed an extra day for the jam session. The atmosphere was so friendly and the music was outstanding. Its been a while since Ive had a chance to hear live jazz. The musicianship representing Oklahoma was spectacular and I was very inspired. Even though I was nervous about sitting in, everyone was encouraging and I did get to play a few. Next time Ill get the nerve to sing a couple Lowell Fulsom tunes. And to top it off? Free beans and cornbread! True southern hospitality!
Really awesome venue my son played over there with Memorial high school and we had a really great jazz session the audio was good the environment was good pretty cool location in downtown Oklahoma. If you’re looking for a place to come enjoy a live jazz music this is really cool place to come you should check it out
Lots of music events keep the place hopping. Particularly love the Tuesday night Jam Session....horns. keyboard. organ and more back wonderful diverse vocalists...and most unique..first 2 hours are jazz and last 2 hours are blues. Great musicianship!
Great place to hear local jazz musicians. The jazz jam on Tuesdays is always lively! Drop in on Wednesday’s to check out Eicher Wednesday’s.
Quite a collection of the history of jazz music.and the entertainers who made it so famous. Gotta visit for yourself. I really enjoyed it.
I broke the sink here four years ago,
I enjoyed the cultural significance, however I feel like they arent doing enough to highlight the individuality of each person. Specifically, the pictures and information on the individuals is on the back side of the building. Just comes off as awkward.
Great attraction. Keeping memories of Americas unique culture alive.
This venue celebrates the Jazz culture in Tulsa. Very nice establishment with great service that brings a diverse group of people together. It is free to get in on Tuesday. It is an free open bar, but they do ask that you provide a donation. Not literally, but you should give donation. It is located at the heart of the center of the universe and definitely worth experiencing if you are in town during the week for business.
My cousin had her daughters wedding reception here. What a FANTASTIC venue. Had a good caterer, and it was perfect. Highly recommend it.
Tuesday nights they have free jazz event with local artists. Its a nice casual atmosphere, highly recommended if looking for something laid back and casual to do.
The dance event there was fun. They had a nice band, and the people who came to watch seemed to enjoy it.
In the historic old Union Station. Frequent free jazz concerts. A cultural treasure. Cool memorabilia on display. A short walk to the Arts District and right next to the Center of the Universe.
Love tues night jam. Its free from 639 to 10. Wide range of music people.
Loved it good music good people had a Wonder time free jazz jam session every Tuesday6:pm- 10:pm open sign up sheet if you know how to play or sing your in the band !!!
We loved this event at the Mabee Theater. This year at the new location the sound was so bad we could not understand anything...all muddy. Very frustrating.
I love this station!I actually look forward to going to work just so I can hear it. I am looking forward to them streaming so I can hear it at home keep up the good work guys!
Nice facility. Lots of info on many jazz musicians
We were married this spring at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, and I highly recommend the venue. Preferring an outdoor ceremony, Jason made sure we were all set up in front of the grand entrance – marking our union as the first wedding to ever be held outdoors at the venue. The house big band orchestra performed during the reception, and we enjoyed dancing for hours to wonderful music. Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is a Tulsa gem that does not receive the recognition it so greatly deserves. Jason went great strides to ensure our Big Day was nothing short of perfect.
Let me tell you about one of the best kept secrets in Oklahoma! Every Tuesday evening there is a jazz jam from 6:00 until 8:00, followed by a blues jam from 8:00 until 10:00. The level of musicianship is high, the venue is friendly and casual, and the audience is like an extended family. Admission is FREE. Theres not any better free entertainment to be had in the state of Oklahoma. There are informative exhibits in the museum, but jazz deserves more than just a museum of past glories, and the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame provides it in the form of this living, breathing, improvising exhibit. Real jazz was born and developed in jam sessions, and no museum of jazz could be complete without one. If you havent been, I strongly encourage you to attend. Musicians and singers, come and join the jam! Lovers of music, come to enjoy the sounds! See you Tuesday night!
Just went to a wedding there on Saturday. Always a fun time on Tuesdays also.
Beautiful evening honoring a wonderful man. The museum is well kept.
Right downtown Tulsa and reading the picture walls with all the talented Musicians that derived from Oklahoma blows the mind. Who knew that So much talent were born and raised right here.Tuesday nites...Free Mic night...and good is always Great!
This place has Amazing music, lovely venue, staff is fabulous! They go above and beyond. them for welcoming me, the nonlocal.
Love this place! Tuesday is open jam night with local musicians who rotate in and out. Your drinks are a donation which 100% goes to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. Cant wait to go back.
I was married at the center of the universe.. the Oklahoma jazz hall of fame offered for us to come inside due to weather. They gave us a bottle of champagne and had the band play for us. They were so awesome. Thank you Oklahoma jazz hall of fame..
The radio station that they sponsor is fantastic, while its geographic range is limited please ckeck it out in mid Town, downtown, and along Riverside to about 41st street .
Lots of good information camp up very well
Very cool place with great Oklahoma history...
Good for history and site seeing and also good place to host smaller events.
Tuesday night open jam session with amazing local musicians is the place to be! 6-8pm Jazz and 8-10pm Blues! You’re even able to jump in and play! I would recommend this place to anyone traveling in Tulsa!
Beautiful venue with amazing history. Worth checking out!
Amazing community of artists. They made me feel like family and not a tourist . Vety accomadating and informing.
Great history in this Tulsa venue. The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is a 501c3 organization who relies heavily off of donations. Capital improvements are needed, but the music and events are always tremendous!
It is 1 in the morning and we have to find a new venue for my sisters wedding TODAY. DO NOT do business with Jason here. He does not care about one of the most important days of a womans life. And he lied to our faces about how he handled the situation. We would have loved nothing more for the money we spent on a venue to go to the arts, but the blatant disregard for my sister and the complete lack of professionalism is DISGUSTING. This man was going to let us show up tomorrow before telling us he had double booked the venue. He even gave my sister a tour on WEDNESDAY discussing details like where to get ready. And he knew the wedding would not be happening there. His excuse was that he was too shocked that nobody had told her. He blamed it on everybody but himself, which makes him one of the poorest excuses for a leader that I have ever met. Beware of booking here.
Awesome place for those who love music and casually enjoy it. Definitely worth a visit. There was even a live combo band when we visited!
Best jazz band in town
Enjoyed the visit looking at the pictures. It was a nice place to go
We utilized this venue for our wedding reception on 4/26/14, and were beyond pleased. My new wife and I live in Oklahoma City, and Jason (Jazz Hall CEO) was instrumental in the event going smoothly, making himself available and flexible for our needs, questions, and requests. He was a pleasure to work with, allowing for delivery of items the night prior, and the entire day-of for decoration and preparation. We were allowed to bring our own alcohol, and had free-selection of licensed vendors for catering/dj, etc. If you select the Jazz Depot for your event, you will not be disappointed with the level of service and flexibility provided by the venue. As for the facility itself, this location is an art-deco train station, which has been restored/maintained beautifully. This venue will not disappoint by any means. The compliments received on the beauty of the venue from guests were numerous, and attests to the beauty of the structure inside and out.
JustHope hosted their annual find raising event there last November and it was fabulous! Great location; great venue! Best year yet! I Liked!
Love the culture and friendliness
My mom got married here it has huge tall ceilings that give it a wonderful ambiance!
Great place to celebrate! Love this historical building of Tulsa!!!
Very elegant yet laid back. Went to a wedding and it was beautiful.
Great place to Rent for Ballroom
Thank you! Good Night! Love this place
Beautifully restored historic train station. A true asset to Tulsa.
My husband and I were married at the Jazz Hall of Fame on 9-8-12. We had the ceremony outside at the center of the universe and then the reception inside. It was amazing! We had the building the entire day and Jason worked with me and all of our vendors to insure everything went smoothly. For the same price you get about 6 hours at other venues you get this one all day. You can bring your own vendors in which was important to us. Our wedding was beyond fabulous. It is for such a great cause as well. It really is win-win. You should defintely consider this for your wedding!ThanksStephanie Lee Orr
I work with many businesses in the area and tell them, and consumers constantly to always leave reviews if youre over the moon pleased, or over the coals mad. This is obviously the second. The blatant disregard it takes to double book a wedding and then especially to not inform the wedding party is absolutely outrageous. I will never do business here, refer business here, and will forever sway anyone planning on doing so in a different direction.
Its a very nice place for a couple who just want a romantic venue. The musician plays only love songs. It also perfect for a wedding reception. I enjoyed here..
Double booked a wedding and memorial event. Wedding was booked first and the wedding party was not notified they were being canceled until less than 24 hours before!! Absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable for an event venue. Shame on the director, Jason McIntosh!! Until there is new management, my family and friends will never do business here. I strongly discourage anyone from giving their hard earned money and confidence to this place for any type of event!! This is not the first time this exact same situation has happened at the OJHOF either -- dont let it happen to you!!!
Old Union Station that is maintained as a jazz museum. Pretty cool looking. They have a music school on the bottom floor. Full stage for performances as well.
We were trying to have our wedding at the center of the universe and it was raining they opened up and had us come inside! Beautiful place great staff!
Nice venue for a wedding
I love going to the jazz hall.
Nice place to get out in the evenings to relax.
Jazz Hall of Fame, thank you for saving us from the rain. You guys are amazing, and what a beautiful facility.
I came out and was blown away by the level of musicianship. Really fun evening. Id recommend everyone come out to the Tuesday night jam sessions whether you play or listen.
Double booked the venue and cancelled local wedding the night before 250 people from 20Different states were coming in for the event. They did not contact the bride and groom at all. The couple contacted them after a friend saw on the news that they were hosting another event that same night/time. Beware!
Situated in the old Tulsa Union Railroad depot intresting place to take the family for a visit. There are also lots of restaurants with in walking distance and the grounds are shared with the center of the universe exhibit.
Great venue for live jams, have classes for school kids. Amazong to find in downtown Tulsa.
They double booked a wedding, and did not tell the bride & groom. They found out by a fb story about another event taking place on the day before during their rehearsal dinner. He even gave the bride a walkthrough a few days before, and did not tell her. News stories are posting about it, and more women are coming forward about the same thing happening to them. Oklahoma Jazz Hall Of Fame has now removed feedback from its fb page.
Didnt communicate with a wedding party that they had double booked. They found out from a friend the night before. The venue told them to reschedule so they could host the Crutcher death anniversary.
Very comfy down to earth folks. acoustics are great in this venue.
As a musician, I am really impressed by the high level of musicianship in this place. So much heart! The players, the people, and the warm inviting atmosphere. Ill be back!
A constant force for jazz in the community.
Terrible management. Recently double booked their venue. Anyone thinking about booking shouldnt. Most recently Sept 2017, didnt even inform the wedding party they double booked. Party found out from a facebook post that the Crutcher Memorial was going to happen same place same time as their wedding, less than 24 hours than their BIG day. Jazz Hall claims it was due to non payment, so not true!!! Do your research before booking ANY venue. These guys are shady! But I highly recommend Greenleaf Barn in BA, they called with open arms, great HONEST people, and beautiful facility! #greenleafsavestheday #fuokjazzhalloffame
Enjoyed our private gathering. Nice facility.
Do not book anything here. Jason is constantly double booking it happened with my wedding and now I see many other stories
Great entertainment, especially on Tuesday evenings.
Jason is very heartless and doesnt stick to his contract agreements. He doesnt deserve to be over this historic venue in Tulsa. This needs to be addressed!
This is my second concert there. It is beautiful and great sound.
Beautiful building Terrible Sound quaility
To double book a venue is one thing but to not even tell a bride and allow her to have her rehearsal dinner then night before only for her to find out from a news article that the venue was double booked is insane. Will never do business with this venue.
Very nice museum and venue.
I am the co-director of the Bassoon Bonanza, a weeklong educational workshop for junior high, high school, and amateur adult students of the bassoon. This is a workshop that pulls in participants from all over the U.S.The experience of holding our workshop at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame exceeded all expectations! The comments that I’ve received from participants, parents, and friends who appeared for our final participant concert concur that it was a huge success and many are getting ready for next year. The workshop ran the gamut from reed-making to ensemble playing, from masterclasses to a bassoon band and even a jazz improv session that had them jammin rhythm section CDs! All of this would not have been possible without the very generous help of the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. The location was perfect, easily accessed from all directions and just a beautiful, comfortable venue for us. The generosity of the JHOF allowed us to actually price the workshop so affordably that we were able to reach more students. In essence, participants received five very full days of instruction for about the cost of two hours of private study! Without the use of the JHOF, the cost most definitely would have been a deterrent to a number of participants attending. Our out-of-state bassoonists were very impressed with all that downtown Tulsa has to offer in addition to our home for the week at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.We cannot thank you enough for your hospitality the entire week. Our residency at the Jazz Hall of Fame made me realize just how busy it is there! Every day we saw visitors and in the evenings there were often multiple events. Jason and his crew has done a great job with building and running the facility. It is truly a jewel in the crown of the city of Tulsa. We are looking forward to our 2013 event, June 10 - 14.
Its lot of great history
Good music
Excellent
Amazing
Beautiful venue
Quaint
Great concert by Glenn Miller Orchestral
Serious mismanagement!! Very poor representation of Tulsa. Im surprised this has not been addressed.
Okay
Lots of history in this building
Nice venue.
Very nice place
BEWARE!! Until the management here is replaced, refrain from booking ANY type of event at this venue!
Will remain 1 star until you make your error right with the bride and groom you let down by overbooking, and waiting until the NIGHT BEFORE THEIR WEDDING to confirm that they would have to move...
Terrible management double books events and cannot provide adequate sound or lighting.
Great atmosphere, great music!
