Good trail. Gotta park coming down mountain or make a sharp u turn coming up mountain. The trail is steep to start then gets gradually easier as it goes on.
Great hike. Just over 2.5 miles each way. Starts out with a steep and fairly loose climb for about the first half mile although it may feel longer. Still a climb most of the way out but on much smoother terrain. If it has rained recently or if there is snow melt water will be present about half way including a waterfall. Best to do on a cooler day if possible. Expect to see other hikers especially on a weekend. The trail is also open to dogs.
Beautiful area to hike. I am out there a few times a week.
Awesome trail with beautiful desert rock. The view is speechless. We will be back soon!
Nice place to hike.. try it. Youll like it.
Steep trail (great cardio!) with nice views.
Great work out...definately recommend.
Enjoyable hike...but wait till fall or spring
Nice place to get away from the city. Its a ways out oh, it takes a sturdy car, but this is way worth going out there
Great hiking and rock climbing. Beautiful scenery.
Beautiful view of Saguaro cacti. Great photo opportunities
Nice place to take in some scenery.
Steep and Rocky but very scenic
This is a great local Tucson hike to do during the winter months. I just hiked from this location (the Soldiers Trail Trailhead) up to the junction with the Arizona Trail near the old Prison Camp and then on over to the Molino Basin Campground on 1/28/2018. It was a gorgeous warm Sunday afternoon with a near full moon rising over the Rincons to the East, which was helpful, as I finished well after dark. The first mile is steep, climbing 900 vertical feet. There are remnants of the old telephone poles still visible along the trail in some places, and as you catch your breath and look down you can see Soldiers Trail road, almost in alignment stretching away into the distance.
Great hike
Beautiful
Gorgeous trail!
Greats view not that hard of a hike
