We attended swim classes here a few years ago and again recently. The new owner has really improved the space with fresh paint and cleanliness. Weve had several instructors and theyve all been really nice and worked hard to help our kids improve their swimming skills.
Sunshine swim school is really doing great teaching our 3 yr old grandson how to swim. And how to be safe in the pool.
Great school all around. The new owner has done wonders for the school. They remodeled the inside as well as the outside which is now covered with shade! The water is always very warm for the kids which makes their lessons more enjoyable. Office manager is very helpful and has fun with the kiddos. The swim instructors are very competent teachers. The kids incentive program where they can trade in coins for prizes is delightful and exciting for the little ones. They also have a wonderful swim team where the coaches really focus on improving stroke skills and all around fitness of the team members. In general, Sunshine Swim School is the perfect place for swim lessons and has a wonderful non competitive swim team.
Absolutely amazing custom swimming lessons for my very opposite daughters. Everyone from Gary to the swim instructors is kind, and thoughtful. Truly exceeded my expectations. I know first hand that other swim schools are not as quality nor considerate. I have two toddler girls and they are on their 3rd session (both emerging as little swimmers) between 2 years and I’ll be buying a 4th session to help it stick. So pleased! Highly recommended!
Instructors are really good with the kids. Management could use some people skills. They also have a policy that you can only make up one class per month which seems a little ridiculous considering there are situations such as sickness that are out of parents control. I typically dont like to take my kids anywhere when sick to not spread the love, apparently they dont care! They also dont have a problem billing you before the first of the month prior to upcoming month! There was also a situation where a child threw up in the pool and the instructor asked the front desk girl for help also asked what to do during her full class. Front desk girl made it very clear that she was grossed out and refused to do anything about it! Not cool!!! Not impressed with this place at all! The place definitely needs some TLC, especially the bathrooms and parking is the worst. Cmon Sunshine take a little pride in your business, where is all this money we pay going!!!??? The owner should pay this place a visit occasionally!!! I will stress that the instructors are really good with the kids.I would like to add that shortly after this rewiew the owner contacted me immediately and addressed all my concerns! I am very impressed on how he handled the situation. He informed me on current and upcoming changes which definitely made a difference on my take of Sunshine. Thank you sir for caring about your customers.
This swim school used to be great until the new management took over. They went from offering twice a week lessons to once a week for the same price I was charged for the twice a week lessons. Paid a little extra to have private lessons for both my girls and was told they would have the same instructor (unless out for illness) to maintain consistency. So far we have had 3 different instructors in the 3 weeks we have been going there. No consistency whatsoever in teaching and my kids are not learning anything new. Their automatic billing is also a headache being charged twice for the month of June. Although this was finally rectified it took several emails and multiple calls to my bank to clear this up. I was hoping for a better outcome after the change in management but a new coat of paint does not make a business great. Disappointed because we have been with this school the last three summers but Im so unhappy that we will be taking our business to Squaro Aguatics for the remainder of the summer where we can get twice a week lessons for the same price as what they are charging at Sunshine.Modifying this post one week later. Make that 4 diffeeent instructors in 4 weeks!!!!!! Wow!!! This is even after making the owner aware and being reassured by the office that last weeks instructor would theirs for the remainder. It really was not worth paying for private lessons when you constantly have to update the instructor on their abilities and what they SHOULD be working on. Please, please, anyone reading this post dont waste your time or money.
Highly recommend! Our son has been going since he was 3yrs old and has learned in no time. Now hes in swim team since age 7. Staffs are great and flexible, firm enough for safety and for learning. They focus on proper strokes and make sure theyre learning the right way. Weve been thru different clubs and nothing like Sunshine if you really want your child to be good in swimming.
Amazing place my son loves it and they teach the kids how to save themselves if they fall into a pool.
This place has been around a long time, but was so disappointing. If your kids stay in for additional sessions, they will get different teachers everytime. The inconsistency hinders their progression. Each teachers starts all over like the kids have never been in the pool. It is frustrating. It would be nice to build off the previous session but that never happens, always a start over, always a new teacher !! The pool decking will peel and end up all over your kids feet by the end of the season. The bathrooms - I can’t even go there; try to avoid them if at all possible. They are beyond disgusting !! I will say there are a couple good teachers, but they don’t seem to stick around long. I was paying for four kids, it cost a fortune with little results. I finally went down the private lesson path; it was cheaper and three out of the four kids were swimming within weeks.
I signed up my son and after the second lesson he did not want to go anymore so I called and explained to them that he does not want to continue with his lessons and I would like my money back. They charged me $146 for 9 lessons and we only went to 2 lessons and they told me that they have no refund policy and I asked where that policy is and I never signed anything saying that so he never returned the money. That place is struggling so bad they won’t even give your money back so basically that’s stealing your money I am so disgusted with this place I would not recommend it to anybody it looks like a hole in the wall
We have had our daughter in the swim programs at this school for the past year and a half. Overall, we have been very pleased with the quality of the instructors and the progress she has made as a young swimmer. The staff have always been helpful and accommodating when we had questions or concerns and our daughter looks forward to swimming with her instructor each week. The facilities are a bit outdated and could use some renovation, and they certainly could use a larger pool given the amount of children they are teaching at the same time, but these have only been minor concerns.
Excellent place to learn. the staff are very very nice and polite. I highly recommend this place. Update: consistently good place to learn and improve your swimming
This place sucks. Its expensive. Bathroom and facilities are nasty. Owner is banking everything. They nickel and dime you.
First let me say, I only gave Sunshine Swim School a one because Yelp doesnt allow a zero.Secondly, if you take anything away from this, just know I would never bring a child back to this swim school. From the beginning, the staff were unhelpful, unprofessional, and uncomforting. My three year old son has grown up around water and enjoys swimming in our own backyard pool. Wanting to get him formal lessons, we decided to take him to Sunshine based on a friends recommendation. After the first three weeks of my son fearing for his life and stressing about even going to lessons, my wife and I took him out of class and never returned.Did I mention like other posts on here, I never saw staff over 20 years old. When asking questions to the staff that were there, I always received answers that were very defensive and rude. When asked to talk to a manager or an owner, I was told they do the best they can and there was no one to talk to or I would get the same answers.Overall, this wasnt the school for us and I hope that you reconsider or look at other options before taking your kid here.
While the facilities need updating, the instructors are professional and effective.
