This one star is for the swim pool, actually I wish I can give zero star if I can. I went there for swimming with my friend. I know that the pool need make a appointment online but my friend is not the U of A student so she doesn’t have school email and cannot make an appointment online. I don’t complain about this, I just want to go there and see if I got any blank spaces to swim. Instead of making an appointment online I went there at 5:30 and make an appointment with the stuff, she told us that we can come back at 5:55, and there will be two spaces for us. At 5:55 I went back and another stuff told me that the our appointment is from 5:00 to 5:55 so our appointment is expired. They probably mess up the appointment online and offline, but they told me that I misunderstand their meaning and it’s my fault, both my friend and me thought we can begin swim at 5:55, what the hell is this misunderstanding?
Disclaimer-Non UofA student review-I toured the rec center when I was visiting campus with a younger sibling, so I cant vouch for how it is during the semester. However, I do attend a Power 5 school in the Midwest and the this rec offers far more amenities and equipment than my campus rec center does. It was also clean and modern, but had some renovations going on in the student entrance when we were there.A lot of the feedback other student reviewers have (ie too many cardio machines and not enough weights) is very similar to my complaints about our rec center. Apparently theres now a rec center in the honors dorms (at UofA), so that might alleviate some of the foot traffic. Id say though if I showed my university friends this rec center and asked them which one theyd prefer, almost all would pick Arizonas. Thats my two cents! -RCJH
The equipment here is great - if you can ever get a chance to use it. The place is always packed. And yes, its a student gym, so you expect it to be busy, but even so, its too small for the percentage of the student population that actually utilizes the facility. Morning, noon, night, it doesnt matter - there are always hordes of students. Good luck getting a squat rack or bench, and if you do get one, be prepared to be asked multiple times when you are going to be done.Like most typical gyms, there are way more treadmills than anybody needs and not nearly enough weightlifting equipment. The graduate student gym is also a huge disappointment, as its open precisely during the hours that most graduate students are unable to use it.Its a very nice looking building, and its kept in good condition. There are individual bathrooms with showers that are extremely handy if you hate showering in a communal area. But overall, its really too bad that despite the huge amount of student interest in using the REC, the university spends millions on a massive indoor practice stadium for the football team instead of expanding the REC to make it accessible to more students.
Great, state of the art gym.
Absolutely happy with my sons choice for furthering his Education. I hope more parents see these kids need our support to get started and on their own. Please reach out and help however you can. We dont want our future leaders not haveing a strong Educational background .
Awesome Rec. Center check it out it has many different things to do. Great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. They have a great selection of rental items if needed. The dressing rooms are nice clean and spacious. Be sure to bring a lock though they dont provide one. The first time we went I ended up risking my stuff being stolen which isnt good so be sure to take a lock. We usually stay for hours which is nice.
Jewel in the desert, we come here to see my son compete in wheelchair basketball, awesome facility.
Stunning. As a guest of two members, it cost $10.00 to use the pool because I was a California resident. Definitely worth it. Amazing changing rooms. Great sized lockers (bring your own lock). Pristine.
Awesome facility, you can find pretty much any sport/exercise field/equipment.
Its a great place for the students of Arizona. It covers most of the sports. It has a huge section for gym that has many treadmills, standing cycles, crosstrainer. It has a different section for functional training too. It has 4 basketball court, Volleyball court, indoor running track, rooms for squash and racquet ball, table tennis. Swimming pool is open and big, water is clean, showers and washrooms are clean and maintained. It has few sports wear shop as well. Sitting area is pretty nice. They dont have a lot of charging points though, but overall its a good place for recreation.
Even though it was irresponsible for the university to spend 10s of millions of a rec center, they got what they paid for. Very nice and clean if just over crowded by himbos.
Rec center was great. It’s actually massive! Has everything you would need to get a good workout in. The students that work there were very friendly and polite. I was in town working for the week and got a free day pass to check it out.
Excellent facility. The U of A WheelChair Rugby Team is hosting a tournament Feb 22, 23, 24 at the rec center. National champs U of A will play against the Gold Medal team from Australia! Big fun for the whole family. Free admission. Great sport
One of the best recreational facilities in the state. It has everything you could ever imagine and more. Weight room, running track, basketball courts, racket ball courts, table tennis, swimming lanes, water basketball, they also have a bouldering wall for rock climbers. They also have tons of equipment for rent like balls, rackets, shoes for climbing and camping gear. Check out all the countless opportunities at the U of A rec center.
My son attended the UofA A Camp over the summer and fall break and absolutely LOVED it. He would be so sad to leave EVERY SINGLE DAY. He enjoyed all the activities, field trips, and counselors. There were a large variety of trips to choose from and fun places to go, just wish there were more available spots since sometimes there was not room left. I loved that the counselors were always interacting with the kids every time I was there and were not on their phones or talking to each other like other facilities my kiddo has gone to in the past. My son will definitely be back next summer!
This facility is well maintained and clean. Fresh towels and rental gym equipment are available. There are day use lockers that are free of charge, and there are long term lockers for rent. Rec Center offers numerous classes. I am very happy with everything available at the Rec Center, especially the many lap lanes at the pool.
Cool. Its really a great place to exercise and do various kinds of sport.
Very large, nice, clean facility. Nice staff, lots of good classes
Beautiful. Large. High end equipment. Gets pretty busy during high volume days, but better then L.A. Fitness.
It is an excellent gym. I used it when I was student. Now I am out:It has huge workout area. Big swimming pool, Bouldering rock, different workout classes, basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball courts...Make sure to take advantage of the Outdoor Adventures program
Large center with plenty of equipment. Theres a basketball court, pool, three racketball courts and equipment rentals available. Parking is rough
Honestly the best gym Ive been to.
If you are affiliated with the school you NEED to use this gym. The public can also purchase memberships, but the prices are better if you get someone to sponsor you. Very high tech equipment, well airconditioned, hundreds of different machines and classes to choose from. They also have an indoor track, a pool, and even things like racquetball courts and table tennis
Has really most things you could ask for when working out, offering a wide variety of equipment for use and a surprising amount of activities to those willing to try them out.
Great place to get in an explosive lift! I was with my buddy and we were in the middle of a powerlifting session and he yelled at me,NO WALLS BRO!!!! And then our clothing company was born, we support waves and excellence! I got so swole and it’s all thanks to Chad and Eric my bros from the rec!!!
Love it, the best gym and sports facility Ive ever been to. The only thing I do not like is when it gets so crowded, especially at the beginning of Fall and Spring terms every year, but besides that, I love it, my favorite place here at the UofA.
The facility is decent but the staff and management are awful.
Can bring equipment to the outdoor workout area
Excellent facilities. Alumni memberships available. Do it!
Too expensive for the facility in my opinion. The facility is nice and maintained with quite a few sports offerings
I love the swimming pool of this place and the equipment in their gym. This place is spacious, modern and perfect for those sports-minded individuals.
Nice gym, but even with all the equipment there is usually a longer wait than at other gyms. Good luck getting on the one pec fly machine.
Nice gym, just too many people
Huge gym, some secluded treadmills if the crowd is intimidating, and free day use lockers if you bring your own lock. Showers are nice and big and clean.
If they Sneak the fees into your tuition that gives you more of an insensitive to relieve stress, and get bigger stronger faster!!!
Great equipment and the cleanest/most innovative facility I have been in my life (10+ gyms). Pool and face towels available by scanning your finger in a finger scanner machine, clean lockers, cellphone charging stations, and racquet courts. Like any other gym if you are planning on lifting or using cardio machines, avoid going 6 am -11am and 4:30 pm - 9 pm as it will be (VERY) busy.
The best workout facility in the entire state!
First time there got an awesome tour and everyone was super friendly.
Its beautiful and you have plenty to do, whether you want to swim or get in a good workout, the rec center is the place to be!
Clean spacious well maintained & well staffed facility. Lots of exercise options.
Great gym with variety of equipment and group classes!
I enjoy eating here. Amazing and very delicious.
One of the best places of his kind, but it is often very crowded. The gym has practically every machine you need and there is a big variety of activities.
Excellent staff and facility, wifi inside not so good though
Renovation 2018 makes it look even better!!
Awesome facility, but it gets really crowded during the fall and spring semesters. There is not a better gym in Tucson imo.
There is nothing to protect people in the bleachers from balls shot in that direction. Games are free to watch though.
Have everything you need & clean too....
Super crowded after the college starts but cant beat amenities and price. Great value for your buck.
Very modern equipment, nice swimming pool and outdoors area. Very friendly staff.
This is the best college gym, but because of that it is always busy.
The people working at outdoor adventures are generally very helpful with getting gear for outdoor activities and willing to answer questions but sometimes come off like they dont have time to help you out.
Huge area, great maintainence, lots of equipments and awesome staff.
I came here for a Water Polo tournament, and was extremely excited to see that the University has an outdoor pool.
Great place to work out and begin your day
F*cking awesome
Pretty broad supply of outdoor rental gear at fair prices
State of the art rec center
Beautiful facilities for student use.
Hours shift to much. Many days they close early or just close altogether. Staff members are a joke. They cant answer questions, are unproffunprofe, and just talk on their phones.
Gonna be packed from 2.30 - 6 PM
Good place, but I always mix it up with the recreation center
Google keeps spamming me so here is my rating
Amazing facilities
Amazing facility!
All modern amenities are here.
Exercise place
Watching my grandson play ball.
Nice, but expensive if you are not a member
Its free with tuition and at least some machines are always open.
Great space
My Therapy/Sanctuary!
They have everything !!!!
Why there is no basketball to checkout anymore? How expensive it is to buy 10 basketball for students? The basketball courts are empty these days.
