Excellent experience. First time at this range today. Staff is friendly and helpful. Was super crowded, and the rangemasters had a lot to watch with so many people, especially new people (or new to this range like me). As much as it might be intimidating for someone new to have commands barked at them for not following protocols, its not disrespectful, and clear simple directions are needed when theres so many shooters to make sure people are safe. Great value, glad this place is around. I prefer it to the private ranges in town, and crowded wildcat spots for sure. Lots of protocols to get used to sure, but everyone thinks they dont need such strict protocols until the person next to you is doing something unsafe.
Have been using this range for sighting in my rifles for a few years, excellent staff that strictly enforce safe firearm rules. With the recent increase in new gun owners, especially pistols, I really appreciate their diligence as I have no desire to have to wear my body armor.
The archery range is really nice, it looks well maintain and taken care of, in contrast to the archery range in Tucson Mountain Park, which looks pretty run down. Here they have several well spaced out rows of targets from 10 to 80 yards.
Been coming to this range for a long time, love the professionalism and the way the range is run is outstanding! Most people who have a problem here dont want to follow the range rules. There is gun safety and range safety. I have never run into any John Wayne volunteers, whatever that means. I dont think the volunteers were jerks but rather the other way around!
My family and I have the knowledge of how to shoot a gun, and all the rules that come with them. We also know to follow the rules while on the range, but here at this range they have all these John Wayne volunteers that take the fun and relaxation out of it. So, be prepared to get at least two lectures per magazine. Other then the staff the location is amazing. There is a way to teach and theres a way to just be a jerk, unfortunately here the rather be jerks.
There was a bit of a wait, we went on fathers day, but it was only about half an hour or so before we got a spot. We are first time gun owners and of course not great shots yet and the range masters gave us tips and pointers and were very respectful. Safety was pivotal and everyone stops and changes targets at the same time etc. Had a great time, will be back very frequently and with more weapons to learn with.
The cleanest and safest range Ive been to.No .50 cal. : ( all under are welcome...Targets for sale on sight, cardboard stands and tape provided for free!See you there!
Very fun. Super friendly staff that help you stay smart and safe.
The staff is one in a million. Super friendly and helpful. Im novice and these experts go out of their way to help and teach. Thank you!! Safe and modern facilities.
This was our first visit! It is a safe place to visit. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ranges and restrooms are well kept. So happy we came out. Also, amazing prices...in comparison to ranges in town. Definitely will be back!!!
Well run range. Safe and convenient. COVID restrictions slow things down some, but not too bad.
My family frequents this range, as it is close by. The Range Officers are very watchful and make sure all shooters follow the rules of firearms safety at all times. They are helpfulYou can practice with your sidearm, your rifle, and even your crossbow (the archery range is in the other side of the wall). You are assigned a shooting table based on the firing distance needed.Paper targets are available for purchase. They have eyes and ears if you forget yours. Theres a good number of disabled parking spaces, and the lot is surprisingly spacious. The first couple hours they are open tend to be very busy; you may have a short wait. This is typically the case during the summer heat.
Nice range, reasonably priced. Rules that are there for everyones safety might need a little getting used to but are guarded by range officers that are strict but not unfriendly.
I love coming to the range when I am visiting grandkids. Best price anywhere and offer100 yard and 200 yard rifle range as well as a pistol range. Most importantly they are strict on safety.
Great staff, always have an awesome time here and extremely safe environment.
Staff was excellent! Must see for yourself, I
Great range. Safe too. Shoot there frequently.
Nice safe place to practice your skills most of the staff is awesome! My only issue was one of the arrogant range masters kept hovering over me I was shooting. Although I had a proper shooting technique and was hitting my target consistently (while following the rules of the range) this guy wouldn’t leave me the hell alone.
Bring cash. Was my first time there and I didn’t know it was cash only and they were nice enough to let me shoot anyway. One of the range attendants helped me out sighting in my optic too because I didn’t bring my binoculars or spotter. They’re extremely helpful and accommodating.
Excellent facilities. There are tons of lanes, the target stands are easy to use, the staff and volunteers are very friendly, and the price is good. Fills up fast on Saturdays. Shaded shooting areas are nice. Im impressed at how well managed the place is. I feel safe shooting here and bringing my family.
First time ever visiting a range, just purchased first rifle and staff there are very helpfull. They walked me around explained about the range safety.helped me get everything set up and even taught me how to adjust out my scope and get it zeroed! Absolutely awesome staff!! Even received direction how to shoot, by end of day had a 5 shot group .5inch spread at 100 yards!! Will be making it regularly to shoot, thank you so much
An excellent facility. Friendly staff and very helpful.
Safe and well organized
Great place great staff very well upkeep on the grounds.
This is a fantastic resource for Tucson ! It is run is a very safe manner. Its also one of the most crowded Ranges and people were getting turned away today. As a shooter of both rifle and handguns you can not do both on one shooting lane. The draw back for me is when your done with rifle and want to shoot handguns under a 100 yards you have to wait for a lane to open up. Not a big deal if it was not so crowded. The rifle range gives you two shooting distances. 100 or 200 yards. You have to change target frames for the two they are not interchangeable. Is this a big deal. No ! Its just a little disappointing to not be able to shoot both handgun and rifle. Plan for lots of shooters. Staff does grate with new shooters. But your going to have to pick handguns or rifle and a wait if you want to do both . Fantastic range and very crowded.
It gets one star because the facility is nice. The workers ruin the rest of the experience.
Friendly and helpful staff, safely run facility, and plenty of equipment to make for a great shooting experience. I go to SERP to break in every new gun I buy and as a fun time when brothers or friends come to visit.
Great! I will go back to this facility.
I prefer going to a range with experienced staff on hand to ensure safety. This is the range for me. Those with a know-it-all attitude should stay at home. I was in the military for 23 years, and have been shooting for 50, but I still learn something new every time I go out. The staff is great! (Homey needs to chill . . .)
Range Officers were great and extremely helpful. Awesome experience.
Great experience every time.Staff is very attentive to safety. Staff is also very friendly.Great prices on targets & all ear protection.Just a great experience for rifles and pistols.
Love this range
Awesome range and great staff.
First trip today. Very clean range with safety being priority. Courteous staff. Very impressed.
The staff was nothing less than helpful and professional. Being a Range Master at another range in Washington, I can appreciate the need to ensure that safety rules are followed. If anyone thinks the Range Masters here are obnoxious - its probably because they were being an a-hole and needed to be corrected. Good range, well run. Shoot safe
I’ve been only once and will return. I only used the pistol/rifle range so I can’t speak for the others but I’m sure it’s as well kept as everything else. Lots of staff on hand and everything is managed as safely as a range could be. They have targets and safety equipment for purchase should you forget yours. Current price was $8.
Safe place for target practice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean environment.
Everyone was extremely nice! Nice cleal facility. Would highly recommend it.
The staff was helpful and friendly. Hugo Went out of his way, helped me out assembling and troubleshooting my firearm .Safety was his main concern and that’s why i gave it 5 stars.
My buddy and I both bought new hand guns. Buddy never fired a gun before. Upon arrival to.the ranch i informed the range master that my buddy and I are new at shooting. They was very very helpful and we will be going back again. Place is safe and clean and the people are very nice! Keep up the great work!!
The staff is helpful and the facility is nice. The staff does a great job at keeping everyone at the range safe. The only drawback is I wish they were open more days and hours.
Awesome place to shoot! Great facility with accommodations for short, mid, and longish range shooting. Great staff that are very helpful and knowledgeable. The range has a good set of safety laws in place and the range masters enforce them strictly down to the dot. IF you are a dick, they will return the favor. IF you show up ready to follow the rules, are willing to learn a thing or 2, and are respectful, you will have a blast. The tables are solid. They have all the tape, target stands, seating, barrel rests, and brass nets you will need to shoot till your hearts content.
So this range is great. Its clean in good order and the range masters keep things safe. My only complaint is from one bad interaction with a range volunteer. Long story short, I had purchase nice ammunition for the purpose of collecting the casings to reload. Well I used the ranges bucket to collect my cases. The range volunteer thought I was stealing cases from the range. As we talked I thought it was a reasonable suspicion and said sorry for the mix up. I explained what my intentions where and confirmed it with a fellow shooter. The range volunteer would not let me take the casings. This upset me because he would not believe me. I showed him the brand of my ammunition and pulled the casing out of the bucket to prove it. Even after that he gave me a hard time. I told him that I would be taking the casings because they where my property. In the end he relented but I had to push harder than I normally like to because I feel I am an easy going person. Now I after pushing the issue so hard I feel uneasy about going again.P.S. I wish they had an annual fee discount.
Professional staff of volunteers who manage one of the best firing ranges I’ve ever been too. If you want a variety of different ranges from Bow to clay this is the place to go. If your concerned about your or anyone that you bring safety. This staff refuses nothing less than having absolute safety.
They’re really helpful to new people. Low prices and fairly simple rules, just kinda confusing at first.
Staff is way to nosey and constantly telling you how to do things. If you need help, then they should step in, but otherwise leave me alone and let me enjoy my range time without all you “experts” telling me the way to do things. Oh, I served 8 years in the Army as an Infantry soldier with 3 deployments. I’m pretty sure I know how to shoot
I read the negative reviews of this range. Its relatively close to me but I was hesitant to go. Well, Im glad I took the chance. I have now gone two weeks in a row. This is a fantastic facility and the volunteers there have been nothing but helpful and courteous. The facility is clean with a lot of amenities. They have simple, common sense rules that are easy to follow. Anyone who gets reprimanded here deserves it.. You want to see lousy ranges with lousy range masters go to a range in Illinois.
Favorite place to go in Tucson #1
This place is entertaining to say the least. Im all for gun safety and range management but some of the guys here are slightly overbearing. I like to shoot to clear my head and make sure my weapons are on target but its hard to do when the staff repeatedly visits my table to ask me rediculous questions repeaand give unsolicited advice. Ill likely find another place to shoot in the future.
This facility is well run. There attention to safety is outstanding. The price cannot be beat and the staff is always helpful and friendly. The only negative is that it is only open 4 days/week.
Awesome staff and wonderful place to shoot
The guys out there are outstanding!!
The best and safest place for you to put rounds down range. Happy shooting.
Nice clean safe place to shoot. Range master good at what he does. Will be shooting there again.
SERP is cheap and accesible. There is a shotgun range across the street as well. The range men are all trained and super helpful. They take safety super seriously and let pretty much nothing slide, which I appreciate. They are willing to help you with tips, with sighting, and with whatever you ask about. This range has many old timers that come every week, and newbies that are just learning, so you can expect what comes with those varied backgrounds.I definitely love this place and it is my go to range. I visit probably at least once a month. My only gripe is that they close so early for summer hours, but at the same time you do not want to be out there too late in the Tucson summer heat. The other downside is that it fills up quickly in the morning and you may be put on a waiting list which can 5 to 20 minutes or so. There are enough booths that the turnover is high enough that I have not had to wait much longer than 15 minutes or so. But if you are coming with friends and want multiple lanes next to each other then you will probably have to show up early to get your request. If you are coming alone then I wouldnt worry about it too much. They have 3 types of lanes. Long range up to 200 yards(about 8 or 10 of these), mid range with rifle tables that go up to 50 yards with 5,10,25 yards as well (about 15 of these). And then standing pistol caliber lanes that go up to 25 yrds I think (about 5 of these)They are open to all kinds of people, like I mentioned before, elderly or children, experienced or brand new.
Usually I have a very great time at this gun range, however this past weekend I was shooting with a buddy. We moved from the pistol bench to the rifle bench after completely cleaning all our casings and the surrounding area. While we were in the middle of shooting our rifles one range master approached us and told us we needed to stop and clean up all of our casings (we had already cleaned the pistol bench). I thought it was odd he had asked us to clean our casings but no one else. Everyone else was happily shooting. He ended up making us clean up EVERYONEs casings. He was very rude and when we asked why he was discriminating against us he started to yell that we were throwing a temper tantrum. We were so confused we just packed up everything and left. Because of this one bad experience with this one range master, I dont know that I will ever return to this gun range. Not worth the trouble.
Good Range Masters. Friendly. Range is clean, majority of shooters have good etiquette. Top tier shooters are usually on the south end benches, and are helpful if youre willing to ask for guidance. Max distance is 200 yards. Wind is generally light.
Well controlled, very safe. Staff is friendly and helpful. $8 per day is very reasonable too.
Ive been going here for several years and really have only one comment: You initial that you read and understand the range rules when you enter. If you are on the firing line and disobey one of the rules, they will say something. Suggest the shooting experts who disparage this range actually read the range rules and comply with them. In my experience here, if you comply with the range rules youll have absolutely no problem.
I took my daughter here for the hunter safety course it was very good she really enjoyed it
Very safety oriented, my wife Angie and I enjoyed the range, will be there often!
One of the very best, including southern California. Safety is their #1 priority. Excellent staff and volunteers.
Nice facility. Generally disagreeable experience from obnoxious, provocative volunteer 12 24 17 Slot 7. Would not return. Too bad some reviewers have to be toilet mouths. Serves no purpose.
Great range and fantastic people
Just awful... I am experienced in how to handle guns and the experience I had was awful. The range masters have no idea how to treat the customers they get. Yes I followed the rules but I apparently am not supposed to have a gun on a table at a SHOOTING range. The worst part was I was treated like a baby. I know I am 15 but I demand the respect I deserve. I know the rules and give respect but I dont get any respect there. If I could I would give it less than one star
The people running it are nice and follow proper gun safety rules. If you never been or just have questions, they are knowledgeable as well.
This range was very nice. The rangemasters were helpful and friendly. The only downside I didnt realize it was cash only. Instead of turning me away I was offered a day pass. Thank you I cant wait to go back.
Wierd hours not very convenient hours
Very well run, super helpful, and great safety awareness.
Worst part of this great range is the staff. Their Website/signage is outdated and they get irritated if you call them. As of 6 Oct 2017, hours are: 0800-1200 Thur-Fri0800-4PM Sat & SunClosed holidays
I am an experienced shooter and understand the seriousness of shooting rules. I have had two bad experiences with the same range master. He is abrasive, condescending and does his very best to escalate every situation he can. He happens to not be the exception but the rule on how to act and treat people. Sadly the type of leadership there is on par with what gives gun owners and enthusiasts a bad name. There are better places to shoot and to enjoy practicing the 2nd amendment
Safety is the #1 priority here which is annoying to some reviewers but is a huge blessing! Some things to note:Cash or check onlyAmmo not soldThey are so helpful with questions!
Great range. The workers/volunteers are typically nice. On occasion they can be quite abrasive, but honestly, I wouldnt have it any other way.
Just like any other gun range, except they close too early for my liking....so I just have to go earlier, no problem. Some comments are negative about the staff, but its about the same when Sabino gun range was open. Also, shooting in marine corps basic training, the DIs are as loud as the rifles lo.
Very clean facilities, with short to medium length lanes! The staff is very helpful and safety/rule conscience. With that being said, is there any other way to behave at a facility where firearms and live ammunition? Hell no! Sometimes shooters get embarrassed because they are reminded of the rules, and dont like it, but Id rather have a bruised ego than an accident. Yes, thats why they are called accidents, because we dont intend for them to happen. So if you are Tommy Tactical and have taken hundreds of hours of CQB classes or new to firearms ranges, if you dont follow the simple & safe rules the volunteers will remind you of them. Im glad they do because I bring my kids there and the last thing I want is some jackwagon waving his muzzle all over the place tagging everyone, and God forbid an accident happens. Even with years of experience I have broken a rule and got reminded/reprimanded not to grab anything off the table during a no fire time. But thats the way it goes, I read and signed the rules before I started shooting.. In fact Im heading there right now for some good/fun/safe times with my kids. Again, thank you to all the volunteers who donate time there because without them the range wouldnt be open.
Great place to shoot really enjoyed it staff were super friendly
Always great, safety#1,if you have a problem with that then its probably not the range for you .been coming here for years with very exotic peices always a great time, headed out this weekend see you there
Very nice.the people are helpful and kind. They have all sorts of ranges from around 100 yards to 5 yards.
This is a GREAT range, friendly staff, well kept facility, its the best 8 bucks youll ever spend for a day of shooting.
I like the place. Its a good place to shoot if you can get a 100/200 yard spot. To the ones crying about the yelling, well its a gun range, it will be loud and to top it off you have ear protection on and if you are doing something wrong more then once i can see one getting yelled at. I like how they run the place and have one or two staff members walk down the line to make sure all firearms are unloaded and safe before anyone walks out to look or get there target. Only 4 stars due to not enough range spots. If they make more it would be a good 5 star. Think safety, shoot straight and stay alive and remember a stupid question is one never asked.
I volunteer at the range and understand how some people view being talked to as being yelled at. We cant allow firearms to be handled in a unsafe manner. It took me a few times to learn the range rules, now it is not a problem following them.
The employees that some people are complaining about are actually volunteers. Yes, they are very enthusiastic about enforcing gun safety because, lets face it, the world is a crazy messed up place and with guns, even small accidents can be catastrophic. The volunteers helped us when we asked and my family had a good safe day of target practice.
Top notch guys here, very clean facility. All around good place to shoot!
A great place for shooting and it is in tucson
Range Masters ruin the experience with their unsolicited advise or personal opinions they state as facts. Range only goes to 200yds and there is a wait for a lane most weekends. One positive is that its kept clean.
Safety is the number one concern here at this range. If you have a problem with that dont come here. I love this range. the parking lot is paved, the restrooms are very clean, the landscaping is very well kept and the range masters wont put up with any wreckless behavior. Thanks to all the volunteers that make this a great place to shoot
Good clean facility. The staff are very helpful. And the prices are resonable. Biggest down side the rifle side only goes out to 200. I havnt ever a problem with the rang masters at this range, apposed to many other in phoenix where the range masters are real jerks
Great trap shooting
Short 200 yard range always to busy here to find a spot in the morning. Very strict here to the point of being jerks to people.
This place is great, some people just have problems with authority, but put yourself in the position of the staff at any gun range, I mean most of you live in the same Tucson I do... Now imagine how many fn idiots these guys have to deal with in a given week... You NEVER point your weapon anywhere but down range, or at anything you dont intend to destroy... Loaded or not... Doing anything else just shows a tremendous disrespect for Firearms and an idiotic disregard for human life...
At first I had no problem what so ever at this range until the last 2 times. I have the impression that if youre not 50+ year of age be ready to be harassed. The 2nd to last time I was here I was with a friend. He shoots right handed and I shot left. I asked one of the range masters if he didnt mind if I just spotted for a friend thru my rifle scope on the same bench. He saw no problem with it and allowed it. I left my bolt open and kept my finger no where near the trigger. Another range master came stomping down saying me and my friend both were shooting from the same bench. I asked him how could I shoot my rifle if my bolt is opened and my finger no where near the trigger but he was firm that I was firing from the same bench so I left. Now today I was shooting from the 100 yard side. I was there over 30 mins with no complaining from the range masters. I opened my bolt and was letting my barrel cool so I texted a friend to meet me at the range. A no kidding 5 word meet me at the range text maybe 15 secs to text, I was met by another power hungry range master. Are you texting or entering ballistics? cause if youre texting youre going to having to do that back there I simply asked why does it matter if I am texting. He responded youre not paying attention around you if youre texting. Which I understand but if I was looking down my scope of my rifle on the 100 yard side I wouldnt know what any person beside me would be doing or if I was entering ballistics into my phone thats pretty much the same thing as texting so why would it matter I asked him. which he had no real reason to explain. I see no real safety issue in what I did. will never come back to this range. I will never bring other shooters to this range. I will never recommend this range
County managed, very safeOpen from 8-5 on Thurs, Fri, Sat, SunRange Safety Officers and volunteers to assist shootersNewly added a Shotgun Range open on weekends !
Great place nice people as long as you follow the safety rules.
Great range, helpful and friendly staff.
The range operators here are so nice. This is a great range...nice facilities, good staff!!
EDIT: Im only editing this to respond to the reviewers who had the nerve to talk down on other reviewers because they had an unpleasant experience at this range. Maybe these people who think this range is so great have to be treated like incompetent children because they havent received the proper training with firearms. I have extensive training with firearms, including training for defensive situations, something else you cannot do at this range. I dont just throw some firearms on the back of a truck and plink at some targets. In fact, the target plinking is what you people do at this range. Youre not allowed to do any actual training here. In all reality, if this is the type of hand holding treatment you need at a range than you probably shouldnt be handling firearms at all, at least not until youve received some proper training. To experience shooters who want to be treated like grownups, this is NOT the range for you!ORIGINAL REVIEW: Worst range I have ever been to, and I have been to many! I live in Colorado, and was in Tucson visiting family for the holidays. This is the first time I have ever been to this range and I was astounded by how ridiculous their rules were, and by how rude the employees working the range treated my entire party. This place is so obsessed with being politically correct that they have banned the use of human and zombie shaped targets. Okay, that is beyond weird and ridiculous, but to make matters worse, every time I even took one step towards the table that had my unloaded firearms on it I was berated and literally screamed at by the safety staff. I have never been treated so poorly at any range in my entire life! Needless to say. I will never set foot in this place again. Please, do not give this place your money. There are much better ranges around the Tucson area, and in Arizona in general.
