Intimate theater feels tucked away from the downtown area, but is close enough to quickly access the street car line and many of the best places to eat drink and explore. Parking may present a challenge depending on what else is going on in the area so take timing for that into account.
Ive been ushering here for many years. The productions are varied in genre, but the acting, direction, costumes, and sets cant be beat. All elements of all plays are always top quality. Its no wonder people come back again and again. The theater seats are comfortable, and ticket prices are reasonable.
Wonderful performance of Cabaret at Arizona Theater Co. this afternoon. The actors are superb in vocals, dance and drama. Treat yourself and go see this show...its there until 12/29.
Nice intimate venue. A true Tucson experience! Theres a welcoming patio with seating to wait for friends or enjoy a cold beverage. A wine & beer bar is open before performances and during intermission. Lines can get long so arrive early and be quick when the house lights go up! Casual dress is accepted for most events or unless specified.
What a class act! Saw the Low Down Dirty Blues and was so impressed ^^ it really takes something special to make a genre i normally wouldnt enjoy become one of the most memorable experiences. I loved the show and look forward to seeing future acts~I would like to thank the theatre also for their hospitality. Come here and feel truly special ^^
Fantastic performances year after year. We just saw Cabaret and it was every bit as good as anything weve seen off Broadway in Manhattan.
Superb small theatre with high quality shows. Love coming here!
Saw Men Are from Mars & Women from Venus and was fantastic. Great laughs.
Cabaret is a must see!!! Xander stepped up to play Emcee on top of his original role of Bobby today and was absolutely amazing!!! Talented cast and stunning performance
Phenomenal. Amazing people doing amazing things to delight and change your perception. You can not afford to miss this opportunity. Life is here.
Best theater in town. They do not disappoint. The productions are always spectacular.
Simply an amazing place. You havent experienced Tucson if you havent been here for a show or a tour.
Great plays. A little cozy in the balcony and need more bathrooms.
One cannot review the Arizona Theatre Company and Temple of Music and Art together. This is for the Temple. This small, historic theater in the heart of downtown, once abandoned and damaged, was saved from demolition at the 11th hour and restored. This is as Tucson as Tucson gets, with the territorial style, arches and charming courtyard. There is a restaurant and art gallery. Inside, the Temple of Music and Art offers an intimate entertainment experience. The acoustics are decent.Id like to note that the Temple is now the home of the Arizona Theatre Company by mutual agreement. Its good for both, which are long-time Arizona treasures that have struggled financially. That said, they are not one and the same as the rebranding suggests. The Temple of Music and Art offers other events and has a history entirely its own and will continue to do so.
We went on COMMUNITY NIGHT - and saw a really REALLY well done and excellent play by August Wilson. One Tuesday night of every play run is community night where you can buy last-minute tickets for $10. This is a great service to the community and people who cannot afford to see live theater much because of the high ticket prices. This is a professional Theatre Company and the shows are pretty high quality.I dont even know of a community theater in town that does this. It seems theyd rather charge too much for many to afford while on certain nights playing to have full houses. Which is definitely a lose-lose situation. If youd like to have this theater but cant afford the tickets go to their website and check out thé Community nights - youll be glad!
The staff and volunteers with ATC are wonderful. They are dedicated to making your experience as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
Wonderful atmosphere as you watch the play. Everyone should take the opportunity to see a play here.
We saw Royale. It was excellent! I love this place. They always have fantastic plays.
The show Cabaret was first class and the Arizona Theatre Company did a great job . The Arizona Theatre Company is a Tucson gem.Long may it continue.
Things That I know To Be True was outstanding. The best play of the season. The troup is excellent especially the mother. She is perfect. The chocolate chip brownies are great . I had two.
Preview of The Royale tonight. Humor had been sprinkled into a powerfully dramatic show and it was fantastic! Highly recommend.
Great show... saw Cabaret and the actors were amazing
Always has great shows... acoustics are excellent!
Great play. No bad seats on this theatre. Well done!
This is my favorite Tucson theater. The sound is great and there are no bad seats.
My fiancé’s eldest won a scholarship to do a summer program there this summer. It was really cool! He learned to mic up the actors, he learned all about creating sets, the way the lights work, PA systems, etc. and he was able to help with two different shows. It was a great experience for him, and I’m excited that they have this program! Hoping when he graduates and moves on to the U of A that he’ll be able to work with everyone again, but this time as a college student.
Always top notch performances at ATC. Just bought season tickets again for next year.
Beautiful theater, great acoustics, perfect temperature, comfortable seats, and an exciting musical...Cabaret, to watch.
I was there for a play, American Mariachi. The theater is a good experience, the performance, not so good. The technical production was very good as it usually is.Every seat has a good view of the stage and the acoustics are good.
Very good place to go I went to go see the Royale and the actors were amazing
It was great. My 5 year old loved Music Man. Unfortunately just the first half. We left at intermission for the sake of the rest of the audience. It was still a great experience for her!
Cabaret is a must see show. Period. Venue is very nice.
Wonderful venue. In my opinion, there isnt a bad seat in the house.
I love this place great theater live performances
Small size theater, great talent makes for a lovely evening downtown Tucson.
Great local productions in a beautifully restored historic theater.
A good venue, well kept & clean. Good view of stage. Sound & lighting was good.
One of my favorite theaters in Tucson. Intimate venue, thought provoking presentations.
Great show about the life of C.S. Lewis.
Play was good, not great. Some audience members fell asleep
Saw a performance of The Music Man and it was excellent. Sat in the balcony and the sound was great and we could see the whole stage. The aisles were very tight though.
This theatre hidden away on a tiny street, packed a powerful whallop when I saw Two Trains Running, a story of those who frequented a dying neighborhoods last restaurant/bar. All characters are black Americans who flesh out many views of being black, and what is moral. The play is real, expect perhaps with a desire to seem authentic by overusing the N Word. Other that that, I just loved it. Eat at Yanos if you come early or just nosh on a brownie. Alcohol. Pal around at intermission. Bring a heavy jacket and a scarf wouldnt hurt. Fabulous actors, writing, and the balcony gives a good view and sound level. After the performance, you may get lucky enough to ask the actors such things as what did your character represent? Have fun. My ticket was purchased about half hour before performance and was half price. 25 for center balcony.
My wife and I went to go see Holmes and Watson expecting a community theater, low budget type of production. What we got was breath-taking set design, amazing plot, and an incredible cast! Everything from the lighting, to the high-tech projection effects made this production feel more like a vivid dream rather than a play. It truly was an amazing time! This is the best theatre experience in Tucson, in my humble opinion.
Very nice. Maybe the actors should wear mini mics, some lines were hard to hear.
Ive been to 2 productions and both were exceptional. The sets are works of art, acting is great, venue is pretty good. Only down side is the seats are a bit saggy. Ill continue to support!!!
Great live theatre experience. Not a bad seat in the house. Sets were professionally done, with careful attention to detail. Ushers are extremely helpful and accommodating to first time patrons. The actors potrayed their roles genuinely, believably and flawlessly. The held the audience captive through the entire performance. A talented, professional cast. Season ticket holders enjoy top notch entertainment at modest pricing. A true gem of Tucson.
Saw Native Gardens last night. The show is excellent. Its funny, the dialogue is clever and contemporary and the acting is terrific. The sets are gorgeous as well. Also there really isnt a bad seat in the theater.
Comfortable, easy access, balcony seating provided a very good view of the stage; acoustics were also very good. Very good food right outside the theater before going in. Minimalist production of the Don Quixote tail was excellent - good acting, great voices and imaginative sets. Two hours went by quickly. Cant wait for our next visit.
Not a bad seat in this venue. Acoustics are excellent.
Cozy historical building. High level actors and great decorations. Every performance is powerful and a delightful treat. I get season tickets and look forward to every performance. Administration staff is very friendly and accommodating to change tickets when I have schedule conflicts.
This place is a real gem! Acoustics are exceptional. Their plays and musicals are first rate while trying to keep prices reasonable so that everyone can enjoy the gift of the arts.
Nice theater.Seating is very comfortable and well spaced.Historic and very well maintained theater with historical info.
Great old theater. Saw Things I Know to Be True, and it was terrific!
A great venue. The size if the auditorium is perfect. You will feel close to the stage from any seat.
My boyfriend and I have been to several performances. They never disappoint. The shows are moving, entertaining, and funny (depending on the particular one). The actors are professionals with great skill and artistry. Theres comfortable and elegant seating. I feel like Im at the theatre in a much bigger city.
Great performances in a small theater.
Without a doubt this is the best live theater in Tucson. It offers a nice variety each season. Handicapped access is difficult because the aisles are steep making it difficult to use a walker or wheelchair. Staff and volunteers are helpful.
Wonderful theater with a good sound system. The plays are always entertaining. I would highly recommend getting season tickets.
Really wonderful performance in a classy place. But wowsers, the food is impossibly expensive. $25 for a dinner, plus the drink. The food was delicious she added in a begrudging manner.
Great downtown venue for theatre. They show a variety of different topics, plays, and music so its not hard to find something that can be enjoyed by everyone. The staff at the Temple of Music and Art is friendly and helpful. They really go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy yourself. Allow yourself a little extra time before your show because parking may have you walking a little bit to get to the venue. Check this gem out for yourself and support Tucsons theatre scene.
We have gone to this theater with ATC productions a number of times and we have never been disappointed.
Culture music entertainment and beautiful people
Nice tjeater, but needs lighted walkways for tripping hazzards. Long potty lines. Needs a larger lobby for chillier nights.
I was here as a member of one chorus in a program with four other choruses. Very nice venue. Probably not a bad seat in the house. Very good facilities.
What a great thing to support in Tucson. Being a subscription holder gives you wonderful entertainment and live theatre.
Great looking space, but seats are noisy.
Saw Outside Mullingar, and it was brilliantly done. The set, lighting, and rain effects were top rate, and the characters were well cast, properly Irish with their accents and humor throughout, and the comedic and dramatic timing was wonderful considering a full house and engaged/responding audience. The ending was amazingly touching.
Do not hesitate to go to this theatre. We have seen several outstanding productions here. What a jewel we have here in Tucson!
Theater is charming. Adjacent restaurant cuisine very good. Mostly street parking.
The history of this theater shows in its design and upkeep. I found it a lovely looking place, and the performance was a show from a local Irish dancing class, which was a delight! Highly recommended.
Have had season tickets for many years. I love ATC!
American mariachi was worth seeing. Go enjoy.
Music Man by ATC at Temple of Music and Art in Tucson was awesome. Best seats sound wise are balcony seats. Show is in Phx now and would reccomend a trip up there to see it. Great cast and pit orchestra!!!!
Wonderful place to see a play or concert. Seating is very comfortable and well spaced.
A great VENUE and the productions are always wonderful. A Tucson treasure!
The theater is so beautiful! And spectacular that I am glad that my school chosen this place for my fellow classmates and I to graduate
My favorite theater venue. Intimate enough that there is no bad seat in the house, but large enough to host quality theater productions. A restaurant/bar is next door for eats, and you can take your drinks into the show.
Just saw Two Trains Running. This was the second August Wilson play weve enjoyed at Arizona Theatre Company
Love this theatre! It is quaint, yet large enough for a full production on the main stage. I enjoy the courtyard immensely.
Nice theater. The Erma Bombeck performance was a little over priced, but enjoyable. The theater, itself, is comfortable and accessible.
The play was ok, but the seats are way to close together as well as uncomfortable. I kept hitting the lady next to me elbow cause we shared an armrest.
Whats not to love about local theater? Beautiful venue and courteous staff.
Saw opening of Daddy Long Legs tour with Megan Mcginnis & Adam Halpin here, small set and stage, but beautiful theater and ambiance.
Small but really cosy, first time in there and we enjoyed the experience.
Always a good time. enjoyed the pre theater lunch
An absolute Tucson gem ... the theater alone is worth the ticket price. The staff, the casts, the staging, and the plays have all been outstanding. Were looking forward to the 2017-2018 series and many more to come.
Low Down Dirty Blues - what fun. A great evening of old time blues and humor. Cast excellent.
Saw Outside Mullingar opening night. An exceptional theater experience. The script is captivating, acting is natural and believable, overall production is top notch. See it!
Lovely venue & the play was wonderful!
I just saw the preview of The Music Man. It was so much fun!
