What a really unique part, especially from someone coming from the Midwest that isnt used to the cactus in the mountains. The staff at the visitor center was super friendly offering us explanation of how the cactus grew and died along with helping us with the junior ranger program and trails we could explore. We spent a full day here and felt like we took in enough that we can move on.
The Saguaro are endless in this scenic and peaceful part of Tucson, AZ. The Red Hills Visitor Center is informational and has many items for purchase in order to remember your trip! The trails vary in difficulty, so theres something for everyone. Make sure to hop on a trail with city views. I love that I can spend a day out there and not have to see another human I highly recommend this National Park!
Great park with tons of Saguaros! It was not very crowded (in the park or at Gilbert Roy Campground) the weekend we were there in early November. We did the Hugh Norris trail up to the ridge for sunset views of the valley. The visitor center is the only place to fill up with water, so make sure youre all filled up before heading out on a hike!
A total MUST for everyone and everybody in their family! The saguaros are absolutely breath taking. Everything about the park will amaze you as you gaze upon the true west as nature intended it to be. One will want to come prepared to hike all over and take pictures of what lies in front of you with each and every step.
Super visit to a landscape we are not familiar with. The park was like stepping into an old western movie. We hiked a bit, but werent properly prepared for a deep venture. I was terribly disappointed at the damage humans created with graffiti and debris in the scenic pull overs. What are they thinking?! Enjoyed the store and center. Clean restrooms etc.
Beautiful small national park. Worth a visit
Got there at 2pm and the center was closed for the day. However the ranger was nice enough to answer the bell on the door to give us a stamp for visiting the National Park for our book. A+ government service !!!
Ive been coming here for years with my family and friends .Very beautiful views the Saguaros and wild life around it.
Started as US National Park approximately 1995 AD by President Bill Clinton. And, I am Gerald Monteath Jones MD.
We stopped here on our way home from Albuquerque. Such a beautiful National Park. Lots to do. Bring your hat and sunscreen. Not a lot of shade. Not crowded at all. Very peaceful. Definitely a hidden gem
Awesome! Been coming here since 1978.Went back to NY in 1981 and started coming back here in 2010.Beautiful!!
Visited the store on our last day in Tucson and purchased a shirt, only to find that it was misprinted once I returned home. The staff was very responsive and willing to refund/send me a new shirt. The shirt was no longer in stock, but the store manager checked in frequently to update me on when it would arrive and to ensure they did not forget about me! Great customer service! Also, open the shirts before you leave the store!
Lovely place to visit, amazing views! Watch out for Rattlers!
The Saguaros are magnificent, one of my favorite National Parks.
Signal Hill...ancient Hohokam Petroglyphs site with great panoramic views of the Surrounding mountains, additional Hiking trails intersect, restrooms and picnic areas on site...
Nice hiking trails. Variety of cactus plants.
Beautiful desert parks with some spectacular views as well as great examples of desert plant and animals life.
It was so cool that they have a huge cactus here, this is the place for all Cactus lovers, it was a little bit difficult to notice from the road, the way is down hill so you should drive slowly, but it will worth it . Recommended.
Great Park with the most fantastic examples of Saguaro cacti with a most informative vositor center and delightful drive routes and trails around this magnificent Park.
Great place to visit. So many cactus here. Weve been to both visitor centers and while they are both wonderful, we preferred the western side a bit better. Very dramatic vistas.
Absolutely breathtaking! Never seen so many different kinds of castus... So beautiful!
Always beautiful! Nothing like it in the world!
This was a beautiful park! Nature is amazing with all the different types of cacti she has created. A definite must see. The park has done a great job with providing a diversity of trails for any level of nature seeker.
Pick a cool time of year and enjoy the magic.
Very beautiful, but be careful of speedbump in front of visitors center - knocked my exhaust down!
Incredible to see such an adapted wilderness in a desert. The giant saguaro cacti were amazing. If you look at the biological history of this region it used to be a lush subtropical rain forest not that long ago. But then humans started to set frequent fires to clear the brush or chase out the game they were after. It wasnt long before this region was transformed into a desert. I guess what we see here now is natures best adaptation to those harsh conditions. Once you step out of the park you dont even see the cacti canopy anymore. I guess there are different levels to desertification. I wouldnt be surprised to see this region turn into the kinds of deserts common in the middle east & north Africa.
Just drove in for a quick stop and visit. We will come back again. Stop at the visitors center for detailed info about trails. Lots of places to stop along the paved road for pics. Places to stop for a picnic. Too much to see in once day.
This is an awesome national park! If in the area it is well worth the drive. The 15 minute movie presentation is very informative as is the nature trail. We really enjoyed our visit.
This was a great lil hike with alot to see for us out of state folks
We really enjoyed the park. Seeing the cactus in person!!was so AMAZING ! We also hit the park on a gorgeous day! The hiking trails were cool and a bit scary with all the rattlesnake caution signs! All in all the gift store there is especially neat . A definate must SEE! The sites are Beautiful!!a
Amazing cacti! Gorgeous drive through the mountain desert. Great informational signs, cool programs. Wish we could have stayed longer and done a hike.
Friendly staff, clean facilities and great views!
Very unique National Park with cactus concentrations that amaze. Many hikes and nature walks. Bring sun screen and wated.
MUST SEE when you visit Tuscon. If you have limited time, try the west part of the national park. It has much denser cactuses than the east part, as well as beautiful scenery with sunset.
I strongly support the National Parks. This is a very good park and their short movie discusses the importance of the Native tribes of the area. The last time I was there, I had a detailed discussion with the Park Ranger about this park and other favorite parks in Northern New Mexico. They have a good store there as well as well marked desert plants in the front yard. I have also driven and hiked some of the interesting trails. A must place to visit in the Tucson Area.
Excellent National Park. If your near by its worth the visit. Stunning views of all types of desert life. We even saw one of the rangers capture a rattle snake. Yes thr snake was released back into the park.
Second visit. This was the other side of the park. I love seeing the Saguaro cactus! A must see when you are in Tuscon!
Visitor Center closed... Location & view still amazing.
Few sights evoke the American West more than the saguaro cactus, found only in the Sonoran Desert. Saguaro National Park, close to the urban center of Tucson, Arizona, protects these majestic cacti. At the park, you can hike through fantastic desert scenery year-round.
Very awesome scenery. Loved the trails in The Amazing cacti. The gift shop was actually really awesome too.
Spectacular views! One of a lifetime opportunity! Was so happy I came!
Wonderful visitor center with murals, maps, and informative video. Along with hats, shirts, and stickers, you can also purchase seeds, which I found unique from other National Parks. The seeds are of the cacti and other flora that is found in the park.
We go up there whenever we can lovely scenic place
Spring bloom was starting. Nice.
Stunning when the light is right. Great place for a walk
I love the this place just try an avoid going during July an August. Also bring plenty of water.
Wonderful interpretation of the Sonoran Desert and its people. Could use more indoor displays for people to learn more
This place is so special. What a wonderful experience. Such unique and amazing beauty and hiking
Awesome!! Second time for me to visit. So educational with books to buy and picture displays.
Gorgeous location for amazing sunsets!
Pleasant and helpful staff and visitor center. Many walking trails of various lengths and difficulties. We went to the west park but will check out east as well.
Fabulous Area!!!Come Explore, Relax, Eat, Enjoy.Lots to See & Do.Beautiful Drive.BlessingsDale
Very nice short trail. Great for snapping pics of the cacti
Loved this National Park and its cactus forest.
What a surprise! You wont be disappointed with this park. Saguaro is nothing youve ever seen.
I truly enjoyed hiking in Saguaro National Park. Being in nature was peaceful!
Must see. A saguaro forest is quite special. Very beautiful. Obviously hot during the summer, mski f morning or evening better times to visit. Rangers at Visitors Center (West) very exceedingly friendly, helpful, and fun. Recommended.
Excellente, the Sonoran Giants are manificent
Beautiful sacred park. Staff friendly, professional, helpful. Clean, great film about the cacti, culture and Saguaro park inhabitants.
Amazing place. Cant believe the number and diversity of cacti. Wish I had more time!
Beautiful natural park.
We stopped here on our way down to Tucson and were happy we did. There are a decent amount of trails to explore and the information center is very informative.
Amazing place. Very well thought out and planned. Plenty of animals and habitats to view.
Beautiful park!
Awesome park. Staff was super helpful and friendly.
Gorgeous National Park..a must visit
Some of the most dense concentrations of saguaro cactus in the world. Amazing views, great hiking/camping/picnicking areas, and a top-notch visitor education center.
I missed this place I have great memories here I thing if you are going out, like on vacation you need to good here.
Terrific place to go to learn more about the Desert. Educational exhibits
We arrived early evening & it was breathtakingly beautiful! Id have gladly stayed a few days. A must see!
Very beautiful place to visit in the desert SW (just west of Tuscon, AZ).
Love this place. The views are spectacular.
What a delight this Visitor Center is! Ample parking, friendly staff, great facility, nice displays, plenty of shade, bathrooms, and possibly the best part... They have cool water here WITH a filler designed for water bottles! Outstanding place to stop and makes the Annual Pass that much more of a good value.
Its a busy National Park Visitor Center, but the Rangers and Volunteers are awesome. There is a short walk with signs about the native plants of the area, a short film about the native people with a unique ending, and a gift shop with more magnet options than we have ever seen!
A beautiful park of desert beauty. The Rangers were informative and the views stunning. Our only disappointment was they had troubles with volunteers that were to give lecturers on raptors. Not the parks fault. Drove the scenic desert loop and looked at the petroglyphs. Busy place.
This is Saguaro cactus heaven- amazing views and photo ops await- many great trails - the petrogliphs on Signal Hill trail are a must if you have never seen them. The wildflowers this Spring add to the beauty. Enjoy!
We enjoyed the west side of Saguaro National Park - the weather was much improved with blue sky and warmer temperatures! (Everyone needs to see both the east and west sides.) The west side is more mountainous & has more young saguaros growing. We enjoyed the short hike to the petroglyphs. Truly a stunning national park!
This has become a favorite show-off Tucson destination, with the drives to and from all bonus.
Relaxing, you can enjoy the views from the visitor center.
Even with the shutdown, it was a beautiful place. Very few people. Got to see a bobcat prowling sound and just chilling out.
Beautiful Southern Arizona landscape! A great place to visit on occasion. A must for tourists. Take your time and read the boards and take some pictures. The road leading to the park is a little bumpy, but the road in the park is very nice. A nice cruise for motorcycles.
Nice center. Film focuses on Native American history and perceptions of the land, rather than on the cacti and current desert dwellers, BUT it ends with a wonderfully dramatic lifting of the screen, revealing a stunning desert vista. Rangers and staff are quite knowledgeable and helpful.Nature trail behind the center is quite small/short but worth the walk. Inconveniently, the restrooms close when the center does (5 pm). Water bottle refill station available.
Vast area of goregous landscapes and tall Saguaros.
We NEVER grew tired of riding our motorcycle through this park. Absolutely beautiful. You never know what kind of wildlife you might get to see!
The place was closed due to the government shutdown. But, that didnt prevent me from getting this view.
Happened upon it by accident while driving back up from bisbee and wow! Take the time to appreciate what this part of the country used to look like and the foresight to create the national parks system as a whole. This place looks like a postcard.
Beautiful place. The cacti were amazing. Is great to see this place so pristine and protected
I needed to pee. The doors were locked. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars :)Gorgeous desert views. I feel I picked the wrong time of year (January). Saguaros are beautiful, good hikes all around.
A good National Park.Restroom is clean. All the areas around the building are well kept.Inside staff is helpful. Staff seems to be informed of the area and the things living in the area.Prices of various articles are not bad.
Beautiful scenery and today Attended the Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony at Saguaro National Park West. Tucson, AZ with Bill Abatecola, Miki Abatecola and our beautiful granddaughter. Andrea. 20 new citizens from 19 countries! Beautiful ceremony with Judge Bruce G. Macdonald presiding.
Traveling from Erie, PA and everyone is really nice along with visiting many places.
Loved this place! The nature center was one of the best Ive seen!! Must see!
Not a whole lot to see but if youre new to Arizona or havent seen a lot of cacti its pretty cool. Be sure to check out the visitor center
Despite the heat this was a fantastic visit. The Park Rangers are the best, especially Jordan!
Wish I had more time to spend. Looks like a neat place to explore
